My Life as a Teenage Juggernaut... (Worm AU x Marvel)

Ah, right, Haze Grey. Knew I read it. Yeah, pretty sure I dropped that story because it's yet another Selector nonsensical harem fic. This time with copious amounts of "techporn" where every character (main or side) immediately joins the engineering hivemind to constantly design revolutionary technology even if they realistically wouldn't have any of the skills needed to do so.

I just dropped it too, after only 7 chapters. Not for any of the reasons you gave, but because of his weird choppy skippy writing style. First chapter ok, then as I went on it was to reading as listening to a old LP that skipped constantly is to enjoying music.

The current version on FF.net is not the version I originally read when someone introduced it to me a long time ago. About half of the first 10 chapters got hacked out after the author threw a fit about people complaining about a lack of conflict / plot. Add in the fact that Selector has an attitude (evidenced by his page on FF.net)...

I'm loathe to recommend anything of his.

E88 decides that messing with the embodiment of unstoppable is something for those they see as lesser to do and their team fight moron. Taylor is hungry all the time and should perhaps start a food review channel or something with technical help from someone else because of all the food she is trying and eating. Merchants meanwhile have decided to test the durability of their rides to interesting results.

I read Selector's stuff not because I like it, but more of a humorous train wreck sort of thing - "Where the F**K is he going NOW with this?!?" He doesn't hit my "This annoys me" buttons very often. He just hits my "I write harems far too often and he makes ME look sane!" button.

My biggest issue with it is that he's a military nut and assumes that the readers will get ALL of the slang he throws around. Such as having no idea about 'poi', other than as a Hawaiian dish eaten with the fingers. (Which, knowing Selector, may be a VERY crude sexual reference to the girls.)

Given that Taylor is actually an empowered Champion of Cyttorak instead of being a parahuman, was this flash of crimson a Juggernaut equivalent red bodysuit and boots and domed helmet magically deploying on her Sailor Moon style?

That would be cool.
Especially since the armor is made of the same bands of Cyttorak that Dr. Strange summons, it could be one of those Sailor Moon sequences where crimson ribbons appear from extra-dimensional space and wrap around her to form armor.

Imagine Armsmaster reviewing the footage in slow motion... everyone else just saw a flash of red, but he gets to see a sequence of Taylor getting enveloped in red bands as they weave themselves into a metal armor.

I believe that "Poi" is a Kantai Collection reference as I've ran across at least one KC fic where one of the shipgirls has this as a verbal tic. This kinda makes sense for "Haze Gray" as it's a pseudo KC crossover. As for Selector's fics in general, they're alright but they male some of CmptrWiz's stuff look blazingly fast paced by comparison.

Could I get spoilered cliff notes on the fic? Pople keep saying "do not read it", but it´s making me wanna kinda reat it. Getting a TL;DR about the fic would be nice. I like KC fics.

The problem with Haze Gray is that it alternates between action flying at 1,000 miles an hour and tech porn as every single character acts as if they are part of an Engineering hive mind. The harem is nonsensical and occurs as "and suddenly, HAREM." Which from what I've seen is pretty standard for Selector. The basic plot is that Taylor triggers as an "all the guns" cruiser, who just happens to also effectively be what's basically be an Installation. If you can stand the nonsensical harem that appears out of nowhere and the techporn, it's an okay fic I suppose. But it's very obvious that Selector keeps losing track of what his actual plot is suppose to be due to getting lost in detailed engineering explanations.

Indeed. "Poi" in Japanese roughly translates as "maybe," and is Yuudachi's verbal tic, referencing the fact that the battle of Guadalcanal was the equivalent of a bar fight in a phone booth, and even nearly 80 years later, we're still not sure about everything that happened. Including Yuudachi's own actions that night.

That classmate had a helluva nerve even talking to Taylor. No one ever talked to her before and now that she's a obvious parahuman you have the crust to talk to her? Apparently shame doesn't exist.

As @FaerieKnight79 said Taylor triggers as a Heavy Cruiser with "All the Guns" (IIRC she's a heavily upgraded Alaska class which is what they based the Aegis Missile Defense cruiser hull off of). Then after setting up an area of the docks as a repair bath she gains the ability to turn others into shipgirls as well. For example Panacea becomes (rather obviously) a Medical ship. More and more people become shipgirls and many of them do indeed become a sort of harem revolving around Taylor. Once she has sufficient people she starts doing massive engineering mega-projects like building a small city inside a mountain. That's pretty much as far as I got because I got bored of him blathering on about technical specs, mechanical this and engineering that for about three pages at a time. Action wise it isn't bad but the main problem I and many others have with his stories is the massive amounts of technobabble he dumps on everyone. The harem stuff is mostly platonic and can be ignored IMO.

Haze Grey can be very funny. But as I said, after a certain point Selector keeps losing track of the story's plot, instead obsessing on engineering and detailed descriptions of schematics. Only to eventually remember "Oh yeah, there's a story here" and putting out a chapter or two of actual story progression before devolving into more tech porn.

This has been a fun romp. All Taylor needs now is a helmet like the original Juggernaut had.
Or Magneto.
Either helmet would work.

I'm pretty sure the dome that Marko used as a helmet only really worked because of his thick-as-fuck and broad-as-hell shoulders, neither of which Taylor is described as having (because trust me, that is a notable description, most people are not as thick in the should as they are wide).

So I'm assuming Taylor is still Taylor-shaped, just taller, and with noticeable muscle-mass

So the Barbute like what Magneto used, probably paired with a collar and gorget to go with it, would probably be better

Well, lets compare. Juggernaut, comics and movie, vs Magneto, comics and movie.

Now, unless Taylor suddenly gets another growth spurt with that flash of light (which might be very interesting, she has been eating a lot), I can't see the first image working. As people have said, Cain Marko is just way too wide for that to work for Taylor. The movie image though, I can possibly see working. The Magneto helmets, all of them, I just can't see fitting the Juggernaut theme.

edit for spelling error

I think what people are forgetting is that the helmet and armor are created by magic. Which means they can have that shape even if Taylor isn't as bulked up as Juggernaut is in the comics. Since it's armor that's created by magic, it's sized for the person wearing it. Cain was already a fairly big man before his empowerment.

Also, remember that the movie version of Juggernaut is not a mystically empowered champion of a eldritch being. The movie version of him seen in X-Men 3 was a mutant, something that Cain Marko in the comics will violently refute.

Uh, for the comics helmet, for the shape to work, it has to be worn by someone that bulked out

like, for it to connect to the same points as Marko on Taylor, then the dome would have roughly a foot of internal volume back to front, and around three feet side to side.

It would end up looking like half a Babybel Cheese wax wrapper sized up and stuck onto her head and shoulders

Marko is just big enough that it's somehow a complete circle

And that's not even getting into how the dome can't move, meaning to see something even slightly to the side the person wearing it would have to turn their entire body just to see

The Dome is just a stupid design entirely anyways

The movie version of Juggs basically is wearing a Barbute, just way too open in the face, close it up more like Magneto's, and add a collar and gorget, it would look so much better

Something like this at least, it just looks less stupid than the Dome

The Magneto helmets, all of them, I just can't see fitting the Juggernaut theme.
They're not really any different than the movie version and most of them are red, how do they not "fit the Juggernaut theme"?

Does she really need the helm?

As I recall, the helm was to keep Marvel Earth's many, many telepaths out of his head, that being his most glaring weakness.

But, there are no telepaths in Earth Bet, by WoG.

(I personally disagree, but since I'm not WB, my opinion is fanon, not canon.)
