Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Kinda confused hoping someone could clear this up but what did we kill her with?
Pretty much had to be Alpha and Omega.
Um... A&O does not kill in an instant, though. It is described as "a wall of magic" on top of that, so we can be rather sure it was another Juggernaut Wave.

You force one of your eyes open as the cloud of dust is blown away in a burst of dark red, a wall of magic hitting yo—

Something niggles at you, that new sense you'd been told about letting you feel something in the air. You hum, tightening the grip of the hands joined, ready to recast your spell, just in case.

That sense abruptly turns into pain, like something is trying to claw it's way into your head and explode out of it at the same time. Dual screams sound from your bodies as they stumble back, only kept from falling over by the grip they have on each other.
Though A&O seems to have prevented her from casting again, before the Juggernaut Wave killed her.

Which is weird, cause we weren't anywhere close enough to affect her directly with it, if we'd be limited to our normal range. (20 meters)

Probably should edit the chapter to be clearer, but the car literally drifted in-between you and Endless Hail, within A&O's range.

If Raijin was in A&O's range the whole time, why didn't she die from it? She's only got 100 resistance and 300 health, and even without the bonus MM we still had over 600 MM, which was enough to kill her in a single turn. And it looks like she was inside the range longer than a single turn, since she had enough time to get out of the car, channel and cast the spell, celebrate, then wait and prepare to cast another spell to make sure we were dead all while still within our range.

we don't always have it up. a habit cause we do not want to kill our teammates, usually.

Omega is still in a weird state from chewing on Cerys' rage. You might notice how it did not actually react to her asking it for protection before.

To me personally, its thoughts went on these lines:

[ANGER/SADNESS/ANGER/SADNESS/ANGST/...]
|
|
|
[MOTHER/PROTECTION]

Which might not be what actually happened. That is my interpretation.

COME INTO MY WEB
I need this. You pant, letting yourself drop to the ground as you try your best to hold onto all of this magic. All of it.

It hurts, like lightning is dancing through your veins. Omega helps, but it just takes the strain off for a moment before it comes again. I can't— Magic rushes from your grasp, the ground around you melting into molten slag, forcing you to give up even more as you split your attention to stop yourself from getting burnt. Fucking STOP.

You grit your teeth, ignoring the pain blooming behind your eyes as you breathe deeply, the raging storm of magic dancing across your body, but not escaping any more. Got you. The magic starts to settle, just a little, but it's still so... energetic. Your own magic obeyed your whims without issue, this magic felt like it was always trying to jump and spark, like lightning. Oh. That explained that.

Grunting, you push yourself to your knees, solidifying the ground under your before the lava sets around your legs. Owww. Note to self, don't do that again, it fucking hurts. You hiss and finish cooling down the area around you, absent-mindedly putting out the raging forest fire you'd started. Alright, there is.. no way I can hide like this. This was just... so much more magic than you'd ever dealt with at once, except that one time with the vault, and worse, it refused to be hidden like your magic usually does. It roiled under the layers, sparking through and breaking your concealment. Well great, I'm basically a giant fucking beacon of magic.

You resist the urge to shout, rolling your shoulders as you try to sense where that car had gone. I never expected them to find other magical girls, certainly not this quickly. Normal mages were dangerous enough, finding out other girls would side against you and Gaia was an issue. Oi, I thought you made Magical Girls.

[There are quite a few that have appeared recently that I haven't made. I guess the world believes enough in them that they can exist without my prodding.]
She doesn't exactly sound certain, but it's more of an idea than you had. Mmn. How many are there? [Nearly a dozen, some of them are quite far flung.] She seems to be distracted by something, but you don't pry, you don't really care. What do I do now? You can feel her shrug. [Survive, they're coming.] You blink. They know where I am.

You can't hide, you don't know where their base is, and they are definitely coming for you with everything they can muster. Shit. I need to make a... defence, or something. I can probably outrun the ground troops, but I don't want to take my chances with that fucking anti-air thing. No way they'd send infantry after you, they'd seen you melt them no problem. Tanks, aircraft, maybe missiles? Definitely that fucking AA.

I need a plan
.

I'm still mad at you for murdering my girls so fast like that. For the record. *Grumps grumpily*

Stay low to the ground, throw up some ice walls so we have some cover to hide behind, use ignition aura whenever possible and when it doesn't destroy our ice cover, that's pretty much all I got. Anyone else have anything?

There is no end to the crass behind this next comment:
Deviljho, any good powers your girls had that would be useful here? IDK about the battle part but Storm defensively seems like something you'd mostly want as an offensive power than a defensive one.

...That aside, I'm thinking now we do the reinforce+Ice+Halt thing to make some sort of ice wall or barrier or something so we don't have to keep trying to face-tank it when the next MG shows up to blow our heads off...
Actually a thought.
Could we layer Reinforce on our Halt? I doubt it'd work but we could mix that with layering Reinforce on Ice walls to make some ice blocks that won't move until the halt ends...Then again given the full focus Halt require it'd probably be something to test out at a later date.

Two things:

1) Just because there are more Magical Girls in the world does not mean they are all in this battle. You already met two and killed one of them, after all.
2) My previous experiences tell me that trying to play around with Cerys' magic like that is a Bad idea (note the capital letter) right now.

In general though... ice is not a good defense against bullets, especially not a lot of them.

Hrrm.
Sounds simple, tough to shape...unless yanno, we just melt a hole straight down and make a little chamber over us...Don't have a good way to ensure we keep an airhole though, unless Cerys can use Halt on the air to prevent the lava from slipping into the shape while she goes down into her chamber.

Lava is a painful way to die...perhaps use it as small example for deterrent. loudly bluff/warning our area of effect to everyone in hearing distance?
No point in fighting if we threaten melt their armies or destroy an important area where they fighting over.

Not that Cerys would have their powers anyway. She ate their fortress busting lightning bolt, not anything else.

If it wasn't for the absurd increase to MM, I'd say EXP for 'ate an energy field bigger than your head' would be warranted.

Also, you forgot to update the damage for Ignition Aura on our sheet.

Emphasis here; no specific powers stolen, only raw magical power.

As a rule of thumb, any plan that requires you to tell enemies what you are capable of is a bad one.

I... don't think you understand.

They aren't just going to ignore you because it'd be hard. That's why they are trying to kill you.
