Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Well... I guess I might as well try to advocate for Cuifen a little bit.

See, looking back, we had exactly one conversation with her on-screen. All the other times, she and Cerys were just nearby without really interacting with each other.
Sure, Sabina is someone we are fighting with, but this kind of thing should not stop us from socialising with everyone at least a little bit. If whatever she has is as important as some people seem to think (why would she go full psycho, anyway?), Rukia will offer the option again.

Additionally, Cerys is exhausted from this day; killing someone she respects, being caught in an ambush, having a conflict with Gaia... why else would one of the options be (what reads like) "let Daiyu pamper you for a bit and relax".
In short, Cerys does not need to have another heavy conversation right now... which bringing up Sabina and her recent habits definitely would be.

Also, I would like to remind everyone that the one actual conversation Cerys had with Cuifen was quite some time ago and its only topic was her bringing Daiyu into the fray. Back when those two first formed a team. Having a nice, casual chat with her is long overdue... and would serve as a nice middle way between another heavy topic and what amounts to turning in early.

That is why I voted Cuifen, anyway.

[X] Take a look around for Cuifen, it is high time you talk to her properly for once.

Decent enough reasons. I was most persuaded by that we probably shouldn't talk to Sabina in that condition.

THE BIGGEST SISTER
Speaking of Cuifen, I really should talk to her. You walk past the table, glancing at Sabina's rough frown for a moment and biting your lip. Later, it can wait for another day. Making your way up the stairs, you shuffle over to the sisters door and give it a gentle knock, leaning back on one leg as you wait.

After a minute of silence, you gently push the door open, the aged wood swinging to show you an empty room. Ugh, of course. You glance at a clock on the bedside, the arm pointing at the third hour past midday. They'll be out training now, they've been at it since Cuifen could walk again properly. Shaking your head, you close the door behind you and move back down the stairs, a glance over at your sister already making you regret your choice. Sailor Moon. Willow doesn't look like she's having any difficulty keeping up with the discussion, though your sister does seem to be leading it. Just a future thing I guess?

Shrugging, you move past the table again, the pile of... sunglasses? The pile of sunglasses in front of the Knight grow larger, Gaia unhappily grumbling as she pushes a fair chunk of her pile over to him. What the... Gaia glances at you rather sharply and you set off, pushing the door open more than a little bemused. Just, why? Shaking your head again, you step down the porch, taking a deep breath of the cool air and letting it sit in your lungs for a moment.

When you breathe out, you do your best to let the tension in your shoulders go with it, half-remembered exercises from a book you had read a long time ago coming to mind. It's fine, no more missions for now, just... relax. You resist the urge to take off flying, instead moving at a more relaxed pace, taking the time to admire your surroundings. You know, this place really is pretty. You stop at a tree that had grown around a rock, leaning in to get a better look at where the wood grew around the stone.

The bark is pressed so tightly to the stone that it looks like it's just an extension of it. Running a finger across the stone, you smile slightly as the smoothness suddenly turns into rough edges of the bark, a few pieces of the tree's outer layer being brushed off by your soft movement. That's really easy to pull off. You tug a larger piece off with your nail, poking the smooth underneath. Huh, it's soft. It doesn't take much pressure for your nail to push into the tree, carving a thin cut into the wood as you move your finger. Is this how the tree grew around the stone? Because it was so soft?

Stepping back, you hum to yourself, brushing some of the dirt from under your nail against your shirt. That's kinda neat. You pat the tree and turn back to your journey, picking a slightly glowing purple flower as you go and idly running your finger along the glowing veins. I wonder if it has some kind of glowing blood, or if it's something else. You only stop looking at it when you hear the distant sound of thuds and the clacking of wood, glancing up to see a clearing a few metres ahead.

Quietly stepping into the clearing, you smile when you take note of the sisters quietly talking to each other, red faced and sweaty, the ground a mess around them. You move over to a fallen tree and pick a comfortable spot, letting them catch their breath. Normally you'd go over and speak to them, but today you would try to be less... pushy. It doesn't take them long to notice you, your girlfriend sending you a smile as her sister nods, the two of them slowly ambling over to you as their breathing starts to even out. They must have been at this for a while, I can smell them from here.

You carefully keep the thought to yourself when Daiyu drops next to you, pressing her arm against yours as she leans forwards, her sister taking the spot next to her. You smile at Daiyu, gently sliding the flower into her hair as she blinks up at you. Am I supposed to say something or uhh, I should say something it's like a gift right, but- She interrupts your jumbled thoughts by letting out a pleased noise, giving you a one armed hug and pecking you on the cheek. "Thank you, it is very pretty." You hear Cuifen huff, amused at something, but you just scratch your neck, bowing your head a little embarrassed. Yup, totally planned that, and was thinking of you. Completely.

Thankfully Cuifen keeps her thoughts to herself, pulling at her shirt slightly as it sticks to her and flicking her sister on the ear. "Daiyu, I understand that you are being affectionate, but you are sweaty and dirty." She shuffles along the log a little, making room. "I do not think your girlfriend likes being smothered in your sweat." You carefully don't say anything, not sure if defending Daiyu was the right thing to do but really agreeing with Cuifen.

Thankfully Daiyu takes the rather blatant hint, letting out an embarrassed noise and standing up. "Umm, sorry. Am just happy to see you." She moves back another step as she smells herself, blushing and looking away to try and hide said blush. "Will think in future, am sorry." The way her accent has thickened, her way of speaking going back to how it was when you first met her in her embarrassment. It's adorable. You bite your lip, keeping the comment to yourself.

"It's fine, I don't mind that much." Cuifen snorts. "Just, keep it in mind for the future ok?" Your girlfriend nods, dropping to sit on the ground in front of you, several metres between you. "Are you done with training for the day?"

Daiyu starts shaking her head, but Cuifen speaks over her. "Yes, that was our last routine for today." Daiyu blinks in surprise, and after a moment of staring at her sister, smiles a little. "Why don't we go back and get clean?" You stand to follow the two, slightly bemused at the glances they keep trading, Daiyu slowly getting more and more embarrassed as the walk continues.

When you get back to the house, she almost rushes away from you, slamming the door open and calling back. "Take shower first, leave water running." You listen the the sounds of her ascending the stairs, easily two or three at a time with a confused smile. I am really missing something here.

"Don't worry about it." The oldest sister of your group rests a hand on your shoulder. "But while we have a moment alone, I think we should talk." Her hand tightens on your shoulder, the door to the house swinging closed in front of you. You resist the urge to shove her hand off, reminding you that she is Daiyu's sister and she won't hurt you. "I've noticed you and my sister you know." Your train of thought abruptly hits a wall. "I admit, I approve of the two of you, but I am more than a little displeased that you decided to start dating her without even asking me. Her life is her own, but that doesn't mean that I don't look out for her."

You look up to her with an open mouth, completely lost at what to say. "It never even occurred to you to ask did it?" She huffs, lightening her grip a little. "I don't know much about you, but from what I do you learned how to socialise by living with your sister. It is generally seen as at least polite to ask an older family member if it is acceptable to date their sibling or daughter." Her breath hitches slightly when she says daughter, obviously reminding her of something. "I understand that you did not know this, but now you do." She steps back, releasing her grip and looking down at you with crossed arms.

You internally flounder for a minute before you get what she is waiting for, the words strangely hard to say for some reason. "Cuifen." You swallow through a tight throat. "Do you accept me dating your sister?"

She blinks, huffing for a second before speaking. "What you meant to ask is 'Will you allow me to date your sister.' " You open your mouth to correct yourself, but she lifts a hand, her training glove still over it. "No, I understand what you meant." She shakes her head and almost reluctantly, the edge of her lips curl upwards. "You really are just perfect for her aren't you? You know that she was going to ask your sister for permission to date you before I convinced her otherwise?"

You blink, slowly shaking your head as her smile grows a little. She evidently picks up your confusion though. "Well, if I let her ask your sister, she would never have had a chance." She nods. "You have a good sister, she's incredibly protective of you, no-one could match her standards." Your eyes widen a little, thoughts running in a little circle as they dance on the edge of a cliff. "Mmm, she's a good girl, you did a good job raising her."

You nod slowly. "Thank... you." The words are soft, a mixture of flattered and horribly confused.

A moment later, Daiyu steps through the door, hair still dripping slightly as she hops down next to you. Cuifen takes that as a signal and steps away from you, ruffling her sister's hair and stepping up the porch, turning back at the top to look at the two of you. "Be good you two." You can see that she looks tempted to add something to that, but restrains herself, waving at you as she lets the door close behind her.

Daiyu lets out a confused hum, glancing between the door and you. Oh. You shake your head. "It was nothing, she just wanted to ask me something." You look at her, lips twitching when you see the flower is similarly wet as the rest of her hair. Did she even take it off? You reach up and shift it slightly, setting it up straight with a smile. "Right, we have the next..." You squint at the windows of the house, catching sight of the kitchen clock. Three thirty. "Two and a half hours before dinner."

Daiyu nods, little flecks of water sent flying. "I think we have something Japanese tonight, Gaia was looking through a kanji menu." Considering how the last time she chose something you were teleported to London, you have a faintly foreboding feeling. I'm sure it will be fine. Still, you nod at her words, turning to look off into the forest as she steps next to you.

You just enjoy the silence with her for a while, until you catch the sight of smoke on the horizon, the sight peaking your interest. "Hey, do you see that?" You point it out and after a moment of squinting, your partner nods. "Want to go have a look?" She just nods again, looking perfectly happy standing next to you in silence. You smile, taking her hand and setting off towards the smoke, your pace leisurely. I wonder what Gaia is doing over there.

It isn't until you crest a hill that you can see the smoke isn't coming from the island, rising from something off in the ocean. A boat? I thought that nothing could find this place. Hmm. "Maybe it is passing by, unable to see us?" You nod at Daiyu's words, but bite your lip. They are coming straight towards us, they are going to hit the island if they don't turn away.

"Let's check anyway, they might collide with us by accident." I really doubt the ability of the turtle to avoid a boat, but who knows. You push off of the ground, waiting for your partner to raise herself to you before you start accelerating.

The ground rushes past you as you rise above the trees, the enormity of the island never ceasing to amaze you. This turtle is enormous, I wonder what it eats. Does it even eat? It has to, it has a mouth. Caught up in your thoughts, it isn't until you glance back and see Daiyu lagging behind you significantly that you slow down, waiting for her to catch up to you. I'm faster than her? We were always just as fast though... She looks a little put out as she reaches your side, you do your best to match your speeds, but you keep pulling ahead of her slightly. "Sorry, I didn't realise you didn't get faster..." It's a little hard to speak to her with the wind blowing between you, but she hears it and nods.

"You are the faster now, it seems fitting." She shrugs as best she can, rolling upside down to fly above you. "You do enjoy this the most." She runs a finger along your cheek, tracing the edge of the smile that always pulls your face when you fly. I guess it is. She turns back over and you spend the next minute in silence, quickly approaching the boat, a familiar outline growing larger as you close. Hey... is that the ship from London? You frown a little as you approach, dropping your speed as you turn back, flying off to the side of the ship. It IS, what the hell is it doing out here?

A fog horn sounds, the ship turning towards you slightly as you see people quickly moving around the bridge. Did she get stolen? You glance at Daiyu before starting to lower yourself, setting your feet on the upper deck with a quiet thump. A quick check with your sense lets you know two things, one, ships are really hot in places and two, there were three people up in the bridge moving around quickly. "Three, must be magical somehow, to find this place." Daiyu nods, armour appearing as your own burns over your skin.

You take your sword in hand, holding it somewhat awkwardly to keep from cutting anything on the crampt outside. Your partner steps forwards, casting a shield over you before taking the front as you quickly move to a door, blinking as the bulkhead spins itself and opens for you. I didn't feel magic doing that... You cautiously run a finger along the wall of the ship, the familiar fuzziness of a spirit very much present. Belfast is helping? They must have stolen her... however the hell they did that.

Nodding to yourself, you follow Daiyu through the ship, the lights turning off and forming a path above you, handily guiding you to the bridge. Helpful, I haven't forgiven you for my sister though. It barely takes a minute to move through the hallways, loud voices from the bridge letting you know that you are close. The final bulkhead opens itself for you as you approach, Daiyu's shield leading the way through the gap.

When you are through, the sudden lack of violence is enough to have you glancing around Daiyu's body, three familiar girls huddled up against a side door, one of them giving up on pulling it open as you watch. Aren't these the girls from... Portugal? I think it was. "What the hell are you doing here?"

The leader, at least you assume she is, judging by the way the other two look at her, steps out from behind the little girl wearing an absurd mounting of some kind and crosses her arms. "We be on an adventure!" She quickly uncrosses her arms and points to your island. "Thar be treasure upon that beastie."

You lower your sword, mostly to avoid cutting the ceiling with it, partly because only the armoured girl is actually aiming her weapon at you. And I already know I can ignore that. "Alright..." Pirate clothing, looking for treasure. Gaia, did you really make a trio of pirate Magical Girls? You huff at her silence. "Why are you on the Belfast, and coming to my home to look for treasure." The leader shrinks at little at your tone, but straightens herself up after a quick glance at her friends. Bravado? Some kind of ability that relies on them being there?

"I'll have yae know that this beauty came to me." She glances back at a sigh and cleared throat, the tallest girl looking at you while shuffling behind the armoured girl. "Ah, well, after ye wrecked our city, we decided it wouldn't be all that bad of an idea ta go 'lookin for some payback aye?" Tallest girl makes a stunned noise, hands reaching towards the leader. "And this magnificent machine happened to be passin by, so we clambered aboard and gave 'er a good scrub. She was mightily pleased, said she was goin ta find a friend 'o 'ers, even said their might be treasure when we asked."

The tallest girl clamps her hands shut around leaders mouth, looking at you with wide eyes. "Please ignore everything she just said, she is an idiot but she doesn't mean anything by it." She bows her head, forcibly lowering the head of her friend as well. "She is absolutely obsessed with treasure and dragged us along when she heard about it."

You look at the group, the only one of the three meeting your eyes being the girl who looked around your sister's age, the strange metal frame around her looking heavier than you and your sword put together. You lower your sword, the girl- vessel was it? -Vessel slowly lowering her guns as you do so. "And the revenge you came for?"

Leader tries to say something, but the taller girl tightens her grip. "She doesn't care as much as she says she does, we don't even live there, do we." She leans in close to the girl, practically pleading with her eyes, only letting go of her grip when she shakes her head.

Leader rubs her jaw, shuffling away from the tall girl before speaking. "I din' have anythin there I cared for, but I'm against you by principle." She frowns, lowering her hand as she looks at you. "A lot of people got hurt by you lot, them others might have been a part of it, but you were the one that trashed half a block." Her frown grows deeper. "Don't you even care about all the people you hurt savin your own life?"

You grunt, resting the tip of your sword against the ground. "I don't care if I die, but I have people that I can't leave alone. I refuse to die until they don't need me any more, regardless of what I need to do to achieve that." You bite your lip, feelings your hands tingle slightly as you grip your sword tightly. How many is that now then? A couple of thousand. You feel a hand rest on yours, your partner not lowering her shield as she reaches back. You give it a gentle squeeze before stepping forwards, letting your sword vanish. And it'll be a million more. "You gonna fight me?"

Tall girl quickly shakes her head, but Leader puts a hand on her shoulder. "Nae, we won't." She sighs, shaking her head for a moment before nodding to herself. "But I gotta know, is the treasure real?" You blink in surprise, Vessel evidently taking the words as an order to stand down, her guns dropping down into their mounts as she stands. Feeling the lack of tension, Daiyu lowers her shield, though you notice she doesn't dispel the one over you. Thanks.

"I don't know." You ignore the Leader's sound of disappointment and eye the wheel of the ship, seeing it move to bring you alongside the path of your island. We can't be that far away from Portugal if they got here so fast, it hasn't even been a day. Unless Belfast can move really, really fast... You put the thought off for later, moving into the room properly and leaning against a table. "What are you doing out here, treasure aside, if you cared so much I thought you would stay and help with cleanup."

They all grimace as one, Leader actually looking somewhat angry. "Aye well, one of them assholes you were fightin, the caped cunt-" You see the taller girl just barely resist the urge to hit Leader in the back of the head, glancing at the youngest. Ah. "-came to visit us, tellin us to stay outta sight. Pah." She looks like she wants to spit, but realises she is inside a living ship, and quickly swallows it again. "Not gonna let that bastard tell us what ta do, told me ma I'm takin a trip for a week, an lo an behold our ride appears before us." She pats one of the consoles next to the wheel and you feel a warm buzz through the ship. "Ata girl."

You purse your lips as you look at the three of them, tapping a finger on the table behind you as you stare at them.

foreign magical girls getting to meet us when off-duty? Niiiiice. I'm all for that, besides we might just get some neat ideas as to new magical spells to cook up!

Pirates incoming :)
[X] Invite them for dinner, it's only polite.
An opportunity for Cerys to make a better second impression.
Should give them fair warning that not all parts of the island are safe.

Hopefully the leader provide a better insight to Cerys considering how mature she is standing down.
Bah I still dislike Daiyu as her first girlfriend.
Hopeful we can do something about Cerys view of blaming the poor ship spirit, maybe Una putting a stop to it?
I do wonder if Belfast and Una is connected.
