Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

I prefer that we shake his hand inside the house

How do you want to get him to shake Cerys' hand? One does not do that when a child comes by and asks to pick up her ball from their yard.

Well... Atleast Cerys wouldn't be right before him shaking his hand. Touching something or someone we don't know the abilities of is a recipe for disaster.

Actually, what stops us from just cranking up the heat in a machine in his house, thus creating a "natural" fire that forces him outside or through his secret passageway?
We would have him out of the city with that.

or at night we could just steadily decrease his body heat until he dies... Unless if we have to kill him today?
Do you really want to give the black mage more time to do whatever he is doing?

It might be a good idea to scout untransformed the village to make sure there are no dead-man switch (in the form of the creatures) hiding around.

The question is whether we can notice them with our Thermal Sense.
@Rukia, could we sense the small version?

Do you really want to scare a black mage to release all the things when he lives in the middle of a town which may or may not already be lost?
We will probably scare him anyway.

Ah well not in public view then, fine at least we could shake his hand inside the house as thanks.
We would disable his hand before burning him out.

Yes, you can sense them just fine.
Oh, one more: how big is the village? A rough estimate would be enough.

I mostly want to know to make a guess on how long it would take for Cerys to scout the place with her Thermal Sense; it has 800m range, which becomes an effective 1.6km circle due to ranging in all directions

So why is a teenager girl/preteen girl going to ever reasonable enter the house of a adult man that lives alone?
Do they do things differently in England?

There is no way any adult would invite some random kid inside their house. It would scream 'Pedophile' to any potential onlookers watching the scene unfold.

And what did I say about touching things of unknown abilities?

Even to get a ball? Honesty I figure any unknown abilities would be useless when feeling pain and loss of hand first.
Still if there's automatic protection it would burn out fast since her hand is in contact with his skin.
I guess teleportation back to base could be a problem.

Yeah... Ball in backyard is "Oh, let me go grab it for you." Not "Here, come into my house and shake my hand."

Also entering the house of a dark mage is a very foolish idea, considering the fact that we don't know what type of dark magic or how skilled means even my plan of wait until he's sleeping then slowly drop his body temperature till his organs all stop may not work.
Personally going after his lab outside of the town may be a better bet then going right for him. If only because I don't want to have a open fight with him in the middle of the town.

Well that after we got the ball. Still we could shake his hand at the doorstep, its courtesy for getting the ball for us.

Yeah but if we trash his base and drew him in, we don't know what would happened in the village, he could set off a number of creatures loose and with only three people there....we can deal with the problem in the village while the air strike would slow down or damage anything coming out of the base which is some distance away from the village.

Or he could say no, or toss the ball out of his yard or tell us to shove off because he's never seen us before in this town, or he ask were our parents are.
Or in other words you made a complicated plan that has no benefits, considering the fact that we can kill him at 800 meters the reasoning to go face to face with him is, pointless?

I seriously don't understand why we don't just go look for a house with a scrant and an adult male in it since that combination will probably mean the male is the Mage. Then use thermokinesis from outside to raise his temperature afifteen degrees (centigrade) or so. He'll be dead within a matter of hours and he'll most likely be delirious and have difficulty focusing enough to accomplish anything of worth in the mean time.

Send the enforcers to go find and clear out his base we're at it.

... Couldn't we just kill him with Thermal Control since he's human and not inherently magical? As far as I'm aware that only fails to work on creatures that are magic and still can work on ones that just use magic.

So, let me see what we have so far.

At our disposal:
-a handful of people for regular tasks
-an airstrike
-good stealth

No:
-somehow getting into the house without the mage noticing, then assassinating him
-->too risky

-Plasma Sphere, Alpha and Omega, probably Thermal Spear
-->too 'loud'

-Flight
-->too obviously magical

Yes:
-Scouting the town for hidden monsters
-->we have confirmation that Cerys can sense them, so she would recognize their shapes if there are any in town
-->if there are none, we can proceed much more smoothly

Ideas:
-have something in the mage's house overheat to create a 'natural' fire to flush him out
-force him to leave to his underground base outside of the village to have an easier time fighting
-increase his body temperature from afar until he dies

We already know which house it is... and from how Rukia described the effects of our manipulation before, raising the temperature by a few degrees should be enough to kill him in moments.

The Protean bonds inside the cells of a human body breaks down at barely 4C higher than normal.
This leads to death, quickly.

I mean no ones told me why it couldn't work yet.
You've never tried it before.

So... with all that in mind... first check the city for surprise-Shoggoths (I forgot the name Rukia gave them, so I call them that), then Plan A is kill the mage from afar with Thermal Sense?
What is Plan B and... yes, I think Jrin is right about someone keeping an eye on the base in the fields.
