Some clarifications which came up:
If you were not explicitly informed of having a Shiny Thing, you do not have one.
You only steal during the Night phase! I overlooked an editing error, and the rules have been updated to reflect this.
You may update your theft at any point before Night end.
Jackdaw's multivote abilities do not count towards Hammer. However, they do count when determining how many votes are necessary to Hammer. For example, Day 1 will require 11 voters to activate Hammer, regardless of whether any of the voters are Jackdaws.
(Hammer is intended to be a utility here, allowing players to end the day early in the case of unanimous consensus- it is not intended to be a strategic concern.)

Day breaks, and the Corvidae family flock wakes up to find Grandfather Crow lying prone on the ground below, wings skewed at an unnatural angle.
A quick poke around confirms the worst- his Shiny Things have been stolen!
Also, he's dead! That's bad too!
The beak pointing starts immediately, and accusations fly freely- who could have stolen the Shiny Things? Where are they now? Why don't I have any Shiny Things?
Oh, yeah, and vengance and stuff.
The birdy furor shows no signs of dying down any time soon- it's looking likely this will end in another death.
