Guide to the Planets of the Aetelian Sector: Zelote
Zelote:

"You may win this day, servants of the Tyrant of Terra, but your conquests will one day turn into ashes in your mouth. No we die, but the spirit of our fight will always live on." Last words of Abraham Ya'ir, Last King of Zelote before Imperial Compliance. M30

"There are four seasons in Zelote. Winter, summer, revolt and crackdown." Lord Sector Alfonso Cartagena. M39

"If one wants to stop the constant civil unrest on Zelote is it vital that the governor's tasked with its rulership cease antagonizing the populace. For that..." Study of Zelote's situation, forgotten in a corner of the Administratum building of Seiborc, later misplaced in a food supply to Luctus.

Classification: Industrial World.

Administratum Tithe: Exactis Prima.

Population: 31 Billion.

Capital: Aldaze.

Day Cicle Duration (In terran standard): 20 Hours

Overview: Zelote was one of the hardest planets to subdue in the Aetelian Sector. The population repelled two Expeditions of the Imperial Army, and Compliance was only achieved with the deployment of a whole company of Space Marines, and the death of 95% of the planets population. The planet was eventually resettled, but the population sided with the Warmaster during the Heresy and was culled once again during the Scouring.

Since then the planet has shown a constant history of planetary revolts, followed by their brutal suppression and on occasions, the granting of the planets governorship to an off-world noble. Due to the perceived peril of the assignment, most nobles tend to reject this post, which is usually granted to fourth-born sons or distant relationships.

The planet pays its Tithe in industrial products, although the constant rebellions have forced to the shift to solely civilian parts and equipment, to curtail the potential capabilities of future uprisings.

Trivia:
-Suprisingly for such a rebellious world, very few of these uprisings are chaotic in nature.
-Zelote products have a reputation for reliability and resilience, even if the supply is extremely irregular.
-Since the death of Governor Omar Silva, it's statue is one of the most popular meeting spots for the planets population. The new governor has not dared to forbid access to it.

Guess Governor Omar wanted to squeeze the planet for all it was worth before he was overthrown. My guess is he had a shuttle waiting and was grooming contacts to keep his name out of the dirt.

Chaos Preacher: "Hello. Would you like to hear about your new lord and master Tzee-"

Random Zeloten: "He's an agent for a new tyrant! Get em!" schlitch!

Chaos Preacher: "Ah my face! Is that a meat cleaver in my face!? Who in featherdusters meat cleavers someone!? What is wrong with this planet!? Not as plaaaaaned!" Gets angry mobbed

Good to see the populace appreciates our fine art. Maybe we can get some recruits if they are big enough fans.

Huh i am frankly amazed that the imperium is actually trying to get the planet population to capitualte instead of just doing the usual of killing everyone on it and bringing new folks from some hive to replace them.
Sector command was surprisingly merciful here

Oh, they did that a couple of times, but it wasn´t worth the effort because sooner or latter the population rebelled anyway.

It'll be funny if the constant revolts would make the Mist Strikes a repeated event for the planet.

Space Marine arrives on call and there's just a line of people that they meet who say hi and help like in a comedy movie or John Wick.

Ok, we should make sure to investigate the true causes of each rebellion every time we are called in. If they all end up similar to this one we might end up with entire gardens worth of Mist Shrike style post modernist art. Hell, maybe we should capitalize by leaving a letter in the postament of each statue and if one goes in order they get a message.

Winds up becoming one of the traditions of the Mist Shrikes to come to Zelote to crush rebellions and make modern art of the Governor.
*A few centuries later*
Mist Shrike Captain: What do you mean "not corrupt?!"
Mist Shrike Leutenant: All the numbers add up and the memories we extracted show no signs of graft or similar actions.
Mist Shrike Captain: *confused Space Marine noises*
:V

They didn't even check if there was a rebellion, the Zelote Governor simply invited them to see the fruits of the first decade of Zelote without rebellion, they just presumed there was a rebellion and acted accordingly.

I like the idea that very few of Zelote's revolts have chaotic influence. Perhaps they're cynical enough that the honeyed words of your typical chaos cultist just make them suspicious of entrapment than willing to hear more.

I would guess that given their history there's no shortage of planetary agents pretending to be revolutionaries in order to figure out who to keep an eye on for future reference.

I like that there is little Chaos causing the revolts, not every rebellion needs the wandering hands of Chaos, sometimes it's just greedy and corrupt people making rebellions possible. Makes things seem more realistic/understandable

Fear will keep them in line. Though that sort of thing gave me a funny thought.

Visiting Blazing Warden: Are you sure you are the descendants of Corvus Corax?
Mist Strike: *Internally screaming* What do you mean, cousin? Of course we are.
Warden: Well it's just that with how much you've been dealing out gruesome punishment to the corrupt-
Shrike: *Internal screaming gets louder*
Warden: -and constantly devoting effort towards law enforcement and unwasteful administration-
Shrike: *Internal screaming now causing headaches in psykers for miles around*
Warden: -I would have had you pegged for being sons of Ultramar.
Shrike: ...Oh. Hahaha, that is most flattering, but no, we aren't descendants of the Ultramarines.

I don't doubt that Tzeentch cultists could semi-consistently manage to manipulate rebellions via just... not risking their true faith's discovery by expanding membership. But if the people of Zelote loathe mutants as most do, Tzeentchians also are at the greatest risk of getting burned at the stake since their patron god loves to hand out extra eyes and shit like candy. So it's a bit of a mixed bag.

The rest fare much worse. Khornates would just be singled out and eliminated quickly, Nurglites wouldn't have an easy time gaining new converts because clearly there's a pretty fucking low amount of despair considering how consistent of a trait the population's willingness to revolt against mistreatment in the hope of a better life is. Slaanesh has some chance, but I get the impression that Zelote isn't the type of place where you'll find lots of people doing art, drugs, and prostitution.

So the Governor not only stole from the Imperial Tithe but he tried to hide it by taxing the shit out of the planet famous for revolts? Some people have no survival instinct.

It's probably BECAUSE it's famous for revolts. Dude probably thought he could just blame it on the usual oh it's just zelote time to rebel.

If we weren't here and some say guards were send instead he probably might have gotten away for a bit longer.
