Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Even if it happens, which I'm not convinced it will, getting a reputation for being easily manipulated is a good thing with just a bit of tweaking. It will make it easier for us to hunt and kill the enemies of the Imperium if they are less subtle in their attempts to fuck us, reduces the number of idiots bothering us for trivial purposes, and makes it easier for us to do our burgeoning Batman stchick if they think we're too stupid to read between the lines. It is for damn good reason that everybody from criminals dealing with cops to generals commanding armies hold up playing the idiot as a useful tactic. Any downsides of such a reputation are going to be countered by our string of victories.
We're an Astartes Chapter, not the Inquisition. It will be quite rare for us to engage in the more subtle war of shadows that you describe. Seven foot tall super soldiers tend to stick out from a crowd. Likewise, subtle attacks are mostly futile due to the independence of Astartes Chapters from the rest of the Imperium.

I don't think a reputation for being easily convinced to attack someone's political enemies will reduce the number of people who bother us the trivial requests. If anything, I'd say it's probably the opposite. It might actually reduce the nontrivial requests if someone who needs our aid believes we're fools and dismisses our victories as propaganda.
There is nothing in this deployment that says "Dumb muscle for the SA" is the limit of what we can do - an open-ended request like this one has LOTS of opportunities for us to get a lot of diplomatic benefit out of it. But if you're really convinced there's no possible way a bunch of hyper-intelligent superhumans can extract such things out of this action, I'll mod the plan to patch in our Chief Victualier and a couple extra instructions.
Again, we're an Astartes Chapter. Our High Command are generals, not politicians. The main side benefit I can think of would be closer to extortion than anything else. Kinda hard to establish positive diplomatic relations with someone you're there to extort.
Or we can just tack on a request for relevant information about this particular conflict to the Inquisitor we're going to visit this turn, maybe ask for a few paper-pushers and data-scribes to accompany us, and we don't have to spend an Investigate action just for this.
That feels like an attempt to get 2 AP worth of benefits from 1 AP worth of effort. I don't think we can game the system like that, but I'm not the QM. I can definitely see it being vetoed on the grounds of "We work for him, not the other way around". If he owed us a Favor, things might be different, but he doesn't.

The Chief Victualler can't be deployed offworld.

Mind you, if it really is an issue I'm willing to do the "Inquire about the sector authority" thing instead of the Ecclesiarchy. But I'm not gonna remove the deployment of our Astartes to deal with Governor Kaziemerz
That would be great. I don't want to take the risk of not taking the job if the Sector Governor is in the right either.

As long as we talk to both the Lord Sector and the Inquisitor for investigative purposes, I'm okay with whatever else we do. Strengthening Severus's armor guard with equipment might be nice too. Future Vision is one of our advantages so we might as well capatalize on it.

It's actually a disadvantage. It just feels like an advantage now because we got lucky with the clarity rolls and aren't attached to the guy who's on death row due to how young the quest is.

I dunno, setting up a meeting with an Inquisitior isn't that easy even for Astartes. I think Harker would appreciate if we just said everything at one time rather than make these one-topic journeys multiple times.

@ThunderOwl didn't we do this last turn? Or are the Eldar raiding again already?
Apologies for the mistake, just placed the correct deployment.
Okay, so I'm either thinking of contacting the Lord Sector and trying to see if he's got any 'unrest' problems, or contacting Inquisitor Harker and informing him of this. I feel like contacting the Lord Sector will go better since Harker is busy dealing with a potential rogue Inquisitor but we should warn him regardless.

Also, we should keep on studying Spatha's geneseed! Figure out what the deal is with that.

@ThunderOwl We should be able to reveal to the rest of chapter command about who our real genesire is right?

Sorry to be a bother but I think you forgot to add this as an option for turn 4.
I did, thanks for pointing it out. Option added

Between this and the saffran mess, I've learned my lesson. No more posting chapters 5 minutes before going to bed. 😅
it's probably not on Lezo,
Different planet.

A few points: our Chapter master and original vets already use mark VI prototype due to it being the starting bonus. We also have IIRC abount 90 suits spare from the same bonus.

Regarding the usefulness of the visions, we have to remember, that while Konrad's visions were of great clarity they also tended to show the worst possoble version of the future. Simualteniously, they were not set in stone, despite his belief otherwise. And in the quest the future can not possibly be fixed, due to the very nature of the medium. So overall they are a drawback because, well, they kill our notables, but at the same time they are legitimate visions of the future and we could gather useful data from them.

My biggest concern is that Harker just refuses outright. To be fair, he's going after an Inquisitor who's broken a quarantine established by the Emperor himself. His acolytes probably have better things to do than explain Sector politics to us. It's why I want to go with the guaranteed option of Inquire about Sector Authority. Learning about the Ecclesiarchy can wait a turn.

If said Sector Governor or his target could be xeno infiltrators having some background would be helpful tbf. But in case that does happen don't worry, my plan will be edited to look into the Sector Authority.

Since the QM has clarified that there are 5 deployment options this turn, I am posting the third and final version of my plan, complete with actual votes. Changed a couple of ships around to reflect the new action. Added the Truth option.

–-[X] Write-in Dispatch Force: Lieutenant Secutor, 10-5 Squad in Corvus Armor, 7-5 Squad, 1 Plasma Gun, 2 Melta Guns, 5 Stalker Bolters, 2 Storm Ravens

Now, I am utterly convinced this is completely unnecessary since 5 minutes of talking and a limited use library card to fetch the relevant documents to avoid a potential political problem is not something an Inquisitor is going to begrudge us. But fuck it:

The new and updated plan. Mostly the same, except now we're going to Zelote and also we're gonna be doing some inquiries into the Sector Authority's whole situation rather than the Ecclesiarchy's. Oh and also telling the command staff that they are the scions of Konrad Curze. Also changed the production plans because apparently we have another Chaplain besides our Master of Sanctity! Hooray! But they don't have a Crozius Arcanum! Boo! So I'm making more of those.

@ThunderOwl What happened to the Dark Eldar Cruiser that we captured last turn?

Alright, i dont like talking to the Ecclesiarchy without investigating them on the same turn, it feels like we are going to miss something. Also there is probably synergy if we investigate and talk to them at the same time since the memory will be fresh and any spies may not have leaked anything yet to other interested parties.

I don't think that's how it works. We're talking specifically to the local Cardinal, whereas investigating a faction is moreso learning about their general current state as well as the broad strokes of their history. Basically conventional research on subjects which aren't actually hidden. It won't affect direct relations between the Chapter and that individual, it just gives more context as I understand it.

I wonder if in the future we can set some companies to a general "patrol" deployment so they can respond to any minor issues (like a lot of these seem to be) on their own without need for Chapter Command to specifically task them individually? Seems like it would be useful both in being proactive and reduce the number of things we need to track or focus on each turn.

I think our stealth specialists are not optimally placed in the honour guard/escort mission. Do we really want our Scouts to parade in front of an unruly Planetary Governor? A normal Battle Brother could do that. Or do I missunderstand this mission?

I figured that it was more of a "Show up and put the fear of the God-Emperor into the Governor" type of job. If I'm wrong though I'll change it.

While that may be true, when we investigated the Mechanicus we found out some details regarding their exploits. if we investigate the Ecclesiarchy we may find out more regarding this Cardinal which as i understood it is the top cardinal of the sector and we will not be going in blind since we will have an idea how he would react and act.
