I think that if we get a chance, we should definitely let Salem take first place. Obviously, if our allies want to fight him we should probably join in, but if it's a situation where we're already guaranteed a spot in sixth place it costs us nothing to help him, and we stand to gain from it. Salem is lovestruck after all, and we'd be helping him woo the girl he's obsessed with. In general, when your emotions are running high like that, everything seems more significant and important--especially when it's something related to the reason your emotions are running high. Barring unforeseen circumstances--Salem wants to take first place on his own, etc.--I'm guessing Salem will be pretty grateful.

Of course, I might be forgetting something, since I don't remember all of the fine details about the recent updates very well. I'd go back and re-read to refresh myself, but I don't have the time at the moment.

Not sure if that would be wise or practical considering that he may try to take us out before we or any of our teammates reach the top 6 spots and he made it clear that he considers us a serious threat. Probably depends on if he decides to avoid us until then.

Saff has his reasons for the way he is. As is, no, taking out load-bearing walls would be a terrible idea, because the maze is encased in a giant cube.

Cube minus supporting walls equals 14 tons of concrete coming down on everyone's head unless Saff wins a very hard roll. I would not.

Can Transistor find Saff? Because I'd like to take out Saff before he takes out everyone. Ideally, in a way that makes examiners later tell him that his shoddy workmanship almost crushed half a dozen people.

Look, I'm not gonna lie, writing that entire bit, while somewhat unplanned, it was... incredibly emotionally therapeutic. I... I want more of it. I want to write more about this kind of thing because it was genuinely the most fun I've had writing something in a long time and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside in a way I haven't felt in years and I just-

From a purely pragmatic point of view, you have no real reason not to give him first place- like I/you/Jaune said, places two through six have the exact same benefits. That's the four of you and two to spare.

No, there is a perfectly viable reason.

Bragging rights Reputation.

If we take even second place, we won't be remembered as much. Sure, people might go on for a while saying 'woah, that's the guy that got second place' but they'll quickly forget it.

But first place? It's a golden mark on our resume. When we get to Beacon, people would look at us and go 'hey, that's the strongest student in Signal!'**.

And that sort of rep? It has power. And expectations. And it generally makes things interesting.

Granted, it would only be a minor achievement in the long run, but it is a good starting point to greatness.

And then there's that idiot that does it to impress a girl.

No man, that's perfectly normal. I always get sappy and silly when I'm writing something about a relationship too. One of the reasons I have my daily writing project is so I can randomly decide I want to write about somebody being lovestruck, or breaking up, or sacrificing themselves, or what have you. It's fun, and--as you mentioned--sometimes therapeutic.

Not sure if it's wise to leave the mentally unstable lunatic with battle field control alone considering that he nearly got half a dozen people crushed just a few moments ago. Dude the biggest threat here and has made pretty clear that he freaking hates us and our team mates. Also questioning the wisdom of fighting in the maze considering that it seems like a deathtrap due to the fact that destroying enough walls would likely get us, our teammates or someone else killed.

True, but consider what happens if we take out Saff. He is, after all, the one holding the maze together with duct tape and silly putty (ie. his semblance). If we take him down, the entire arena collapses, which is bad news bears for everyone.

On the other hand, we can clear out most of the mooks who might otherwise get crushed, and deal with Saff later. Although... now that I think about it, that has the distinct trade off of allowing him to get into the top six and get a rec for beacon. Then again, rivals are fun, aren't they?

I am pretty sure that's not how it works. Seems like he just moved the dirt and ground using his semblance. It doesn't seem like it would fall if he gets taken out because he already used his semblance to put everything in place.

The way I wrote my vote was priotizing our teammates with us taking shots at Saff only if we have the opportunity and the shots doesn't seriously hurt the integrity of the walls to avoid collapse.
