New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

You could reshape the puppet into a bird like a Stymphalian bird from the 12 labors of Hercules
That's an idea! Not sure if it's possible given my Good Seed's focus on Formations over arrays. Hmm, i'll see what i can come up with
How do you get a Good Seed and what are the benefits of such?
It was already mentioned, but basically it's just a chance for us to provide some worldbuilding + have a more emotional investment into the quest. Also excellent to let all the Xianxia within you flow out

You can create an Expy, something new or play up elements of the standard Wuxia hero. All up to you
My desired Bonus is Cultivation Speed! I suspect I will need it if I want to hit 9 pillars before Old Age bites. IC those orchids will be the core ingredient of an incense that is potently useful for poison cultivation.
Honestly, i think it's more likely that this will establish the Genius status even more! Considering that as a Foundation Establishment, she can survive another like 10 turns before old age really starts affecting stuff. Still considering the Trials are coming, getting more strength to face their Foundation Cultivators is probably for the best!
...So I was about to start writing an omake for Diogenes, but then I realized I have no idea if Sword Intent is anything like how Core Formation and higher can leave fragments of their will behind, or is just lingering killing intent

Someone more versed in Xiaxia, could you help me with which it is?
Just my 2 cents, but based on the mention of Stone Forest i get the impression that he stumbled across a abandoned training ground and found in the slashes left behind the Sword Intent. With the Sword Intent being of such a high realm that just exposure to it cleared his doubts and showed him the path to walk. Basically getting a path through the maze instead of exploring it.

Thematically speaking, if you go for a Life Saving bonus as the unique boon, you can have it as a sliver of that sword intent to awe or strike the threat facing your cultivator.
but I'm pretty sure I have food poisoning(irony)
GG, the poisoning has passed the fourth wall. Drank any brandy or eat any mysterious appearing soup lately ? :o

More seriously, take care and get well soon!

Tasos Basilakes 4 - Antipathy
Antipathy
A Tasos Basilakes Omake

Tasos's opponent hit the cobblestone painfully with a groan and stilled there, slow to stand - giving him a moment to collect himself. Though the haze of adrenaline, the young archer could feel sharp itching pain from the many scratches marring his shoulders and back - even his cheek. He glanced once more at his opponent who had managed to crawl back to her knee - and knew that the Kentarchos would end the battle, as well as just how angry Eudokia would be with that decision.

Tasos's rate of progress had been remarkable from the start - he'd began outpacing Zhang and even Theodora in Qi Cultivation near the first month and thus, although still training with each other, the Kentarchos had procured him another training partner - and Eudokia Aithos had become a near-permanent thorn in his side ever since. Dark of skin, matching the burned-face southerners of the former empire, Eudokia was a whirlwind of emotion, passion and fierceness that would not back down or relent at the face of anything. Her Bronze was well-developed, and she had focused her cultivation on strengthening and reinforcing her nails into metallic talons that would rend flesh and carve bone - weapons she was not afraid to use in a spar. The girl also towered over Tasos - taller by nearly a whole head - meaning every strike he made came with the knowledge that he was offering himself as a sharpening board for all intents and purposes. It had taken everything Tasos had and then more just to keep up - and keep whole.

It wouldn't be nearly so bad if Eudokia was like Thea - but Tasos's friend was simply a bit of a battle-maniac who reveled in martial combat. By contrast, Eudokia's intensity was fueled by resentment - the woman saw being partnered with an archer, a method she considered anathema to clan philosophy, as a personal affront and had transferred that animosity towards Tasos himself.

Tasos had already swore to himself that he'd avoid her to the best of his ability once training was finished. Just a year to go!

"The winner of this bout is Akrites Basilakes" The Kentarchos stated. "Schola Aithos, Akrites Basilakes - please remain here for a moment while we tend to your injuries. The rest of you are dismissed to continue with your Cultivation"

Good thing, because Tasos's eye was starting to swell shut. He waved at Zhang and Thea, promising to catch them later for a meal, then crossed the room and offered Eudokia help pulling herself back to her feet. After a second of trying and failing, the girl relented - but not before shooting Tasos a glare.

"Oh, come on, sourpuss - I only started going in when you brought the claws out" Tasos pointed out as he pulled the girl up and let her use his shoulder as support. "I'm not going to let you carve me to pieces when you do that"

"Didn't think a little blood would set you off that much - what are you, a porcelain doll?" Eudokia spat back, making Tasos snort and turn to the approaching healer.

"If I ever stop minding when someone claws me open, feel free to kill me because I've clearly gone off the deep end there" He stated, hoping to at least get a laugh out - but the healers were as stone-faced as usual. You'd get them eventually, though.

Then the burning, stinging sensation of the healing techniques hit, and you sucked in air. The Kentarchos had mentioned they used a healing technique based in the Dao of Fire to teach recruits the value of not getting hit - but what was he supposed to do? Not fight?

Tasos inhaled and did his best to stay even-faced as the Kentarchos began speaking.

"The two of you are ahead of your peers in terms of Cultivation" He said, nodding at Eudokia and then to you. "As you know, the Clan is currently securing the new lands that were obtained by the Grand Elder's recent engagement - and we need bodies in the field. Therefore, you're being assigned to the front lines a year early"

Tasos nodded as was expected of such an acknowledgement - but glanced at Eudokia who looked no less happy with the arrangement. There was a good chance, after all, that the two would be posted together.

"You'll be replacing two losses in a highly-mobile unit assigned to the Burnished Crags" The Kentarchos continued, paying no mind to you. "There is a caravan leaving from the southern gate heading to the temporary fort that will serve as your new base of operations in a week. Do not miss it. You have until tomorrow to collect your belongings and your end-of-training stipend"

"Sir!" Tasos and Eudokia answered in unison. The Kentarchos nodded.

"Dismissed, then - whenever your healing finishes" He stated, then turned and left - Tasos not far behind. He hadn't expected this turn - and he'd lie if he said he was looking forward to it, but he'd do his due.

Still, he was certain that someone up above really hated him or really enjoyed his suffering - it was the only explanation for saddling him with Eudokia for the foreseeable future.

"If you die while we're stuck here I will find you, and I will drag your corpse back here so it can be reanimated for the sole reason of kicking you dead" Theodora threatened, punching Tasos on the shoulder all the while - which made Zhang shake his head in amusement"

"He's not going to die, Thea - he's too stubborn for that" He said, slapping Tasos on the back. "Unless his traveling companion does the deed - then all bets are off"

The three glanced across the main courtyard of the Mustering Grounds - to where Eudokia was utterly seething as she waited.

"What's her problem, geez" Thea said. Tasos shrugged.

"Beats me - didn't see anyone come to see her off" The archer said. He punched Theodora back and nodded at Zhang. "I should get going, though - don't take too long getting out of here, eh?"

"We'll be there sooner than you know" Zhang answered - and Tasos's friends left to resume their cultivation. Tasos took one last glance at the buildings that had served as home for the past years - and sighed, finally approaching Eudokia.

"Alright - time for us to move" He said. "Any preferred paths? This isn't my part of the territories per se"

"You are the Akrites, archer" Eudokia snapped. "Figure it out"

'Well' Tasos thought to himself. 'This is going to go fantastic, won't it?'

"Where the hell are you taking us, archer?" Eudokia cried out not an hour after you'd started your trek through the sands. "There is a perfectly serviceable road a schoenus east from here!"

"I distinctly remember you telling me to figure it out, Eudokia" Tasos snapped back. His hand went to his neck - where the cicada amulet he wore was buzzing. "We have a week and can make it there in two days - I have a hunch. And I have a name - feel free to use it"

"Alright, Anastasios, where the hell is your hunch taking us?" The woman pressed further - making Tasos about-face and glare.

"Alright" He said, lifting both hands. "Alright! Be that way - you know, if you want to go off on your own then you can damn well do so"

Eudokia did not respond - and the pair continued through the sands in silence with only the ever-increasing buzzing from the amulet breaking the stillness and dullness of the endless desert sands. They hit a solid-enough patch of flat sands as the sun came down - and began readying themselves to pass the night.

"Well, your amulet led us to the middle of nowhere, archer" Eudokia huffed in frustration. "What now?"

Tasos grabbed the amulet again and showed it to his companion before unslinging his bow.

"Still buzzing, and it stopped increasing" He stated. "Whatever it wants? It's here. Now shut up - I'm hunting us dinner"

He curled two fingers on the bowstring, an arrow seemingly between them the moment they touched the string, and began his draw. Most Turtle World archers had a peculiar way of aiming - raising the bow and lowering their draw to above the eye - but Tasos's family continued their ancestors' tradition of starting low and raising the draw below the eye. He inhaled, eyes locking on a bird flying above - and felt the Skycarver Basilisk adjust to his desires, increasing in length and curvature to match.

It was up to him now. Tasos held his breath for a beat and fired.

The arrow sailed through the air, more wailing than whistling as it flew towards its target. The bird tried to swerve out of the way - but reacted too late, the arrow piercing through the eye and into the skull. The bird plunged into a spiraling dive and crashed down into a nearby dune, rolling down closer - and only then did Tasos realize the sheer size of it.

"Eh, might be a little big" He said sheepishly, turning to his companion. "Mind helping me bring that back?"

Eudokia shrugged and began heading towards the fallen bird, suddenly looking curious.

"Why even bother hunting?" She asked, waving a small brown pack. "We have rations"

"Rations should only be used when necessary. I can hunt - I hunt" Tasos answered as he fished out a knife from his pack. "Know how to field-dress a catch?"

Eudokia looked down in shame and shook her head.

"Didn't pay much attention to the instructors that time" she admitted. Tasos nodded.

"Well, not a problem. Get a fire going, will you? I'll show you what I can"

Once the fire was set, Tasos and Eudokia stabbed the portioned pieces of bird-meat into stakes and set them right into the fire to cook properly. The camp again fell into awkward silence as they ate - one that Eudokia soon got tired of. She looked at the fire, then at Tasos, and opened her mouth ready to say something - but right at that moment, Tasos's cicada amulet stopped buzzing and began glowing. The two cultivators jumped up and fell back-to-back, Eudokia's nails suddenly sharp as daggers while Tasos readied an arrow as the earth itself rumbled around them - then the sands below them opened up and lifted, dropping them into the blackness underneath.

This felt best before getting to the whole 'slayed x amount of enemies with bow' part of this turn's story. Still fleshing out the supporting cast - Eudi has a lot of things going on that Tasos doesn't know about. 'sides, sand cave adventures are always supposed to be bonding experiences!

Not completely happy with how this came out.

Nicovas Ceruleus [DEAD] - Good Seed Background [Note Cultivation bonus]
Nicovas Ceruleus

Priority: Diligently cultivating, using bureaucracy and organization to secure favors and resources in order to cultivate even more.

@occipitallobe

The son of a mortal bureaucrat in the sect's core territories, Nicovas Ceruleus is stereo-typically diligent and detail-oriented, finding solace in efficient courts, well stocked libraries, and correctly-filled-out forms. His parents are unremarkable, he holds no great bloodlines or treasures. Indeed, his background has very little worth remarking upon - His only advantages are a modest natural talent and an exceptionally even-headed and diligent personality.

Perhaps as a result of his upbringing, Nicovas believes the bureaucracy is a system and a tool. That one proficient in its use can achieve notable deeds even as a mortal. At the age of fifteen, he grew incensed by the corruption and depravity of the mortal king who ruled his minor city. He assembled a watertight legal case that the king should be punished, as well as a plan for the continued governance of the area without the corrupt lord, using existing organizations instead. After tallying the profits lost to corruption and waste, he boldly presented it to a 2nd Heavenstage junior who was passing through the city on her return to the clan home. He was quite surprised when his plan was implemented - and even more surprised when it turned out he had an unsuspected talent for cultivation.

Once inducted into the clan, he was extremely diligent and deferential to his seniors. His personality is nearly ideal for performing the Kataphraktoi and Hoplite formations, calm diligence being kin to discipline. He soon began researching cultivation methods with the same fervor he applied to his plan for his city. He is one of the relatively rare cultivators who take well to the clan bureaucracy, absorbing accumulated custom and law and tradition in the clan's organization and practices just as he absorbs qi from spirit stones. He quickly learned to use the bureaucracy to his advantage, performing the least-favorite tasks of his betters or navigating confusing systems of libraries and forms and assignments in exchange for small considerations here and there.

What better friend for a fellow cultivator to have than the one who knows exactly how to secure the best assignments with no fuss? Only a small favor is expected in return, such as access to a particular site or a single pill. Surely it is no trouble for a mortal merchant whose fortune is made from a word of insight and a correctly stamped and filed form to set aside some small portion of his profits for Nicovas. And mortal kings are perfectly happy to part with treasures they no longer particularly need if the Warrior of Paperwork swoops forth and saves his domain from an administrative disaster in the making. He must build his networks himself, lacking an established cultivator family, but when gathered all together, gold becomes spirit stones. A small thing, but a good use of time.

Nicovas generally takes on only low-risk assignments, which is perhaps a fault of his, but does not care whether an assignment is glorious or boring. No better junior than Nicovas can be found for an inglorious task that must be done to exacting precision, such as inspection of formations for defects, or auditing mortal kingdoms for corruption and competence. Indeed, he takes particular pleasure in removing incompetent or corrupt mortal rulers. It is perhaps his biggest vice, the castigation of those he considers wrong, the feeling of power over all those who once considered him an irritating pest at best.

The looming specter of Trials feels unfair to Nicovas. Heaven is truly cruel, for mortals are cast down like wheat before scythes, and even cultivators face death at every turn. What can he do to avoid it, except be calm and organized and diligent? He is too young in his path to seek specialization. Instead, he must make the best use of the resources available. Nicovas is, to naive eyes, greedy. Everything he does is to acquire more spirit stones without undue risk to himself. And those he does manage are consumed as soon as they can be used well. Pills, incenses, special sites, pre-prepared cultivation-boosting formations, careful scheduling, coolly clinical and self-incisive analysis of past performance, tolerance for long sessions and pill side-affects and pain.

He must advance. Not so quickly as to cripple his future cultivation, he's not that foolish, but the sooner he reaches the 2nd, 3rd, 4th stages, the sooner he can acquire more contacts and resources and ability. It's an investment. And he is patient. Investments take time to pay off. Should the Trials or Fate strike him down? Well, investments are risks as well.

Cool Bonus: Shining Card Catalog of the Mind. Nicovas cultivates a mental library where all information he takes the time to record is indelibly stored, indexed, and cross-referenced.

Cool Bonus: Cultivation Boost. Nicovas bends all his effort towards advancement, as a child of a mortal bureaucrat. He cultivates extremely diligently.
So erm some feedback if you like. The backstory is worthy enough as an omake, but for a Background page, you might want to condense it a bit since it's only going to grow longer per turn.

For the Good Seed boost, it's usually something permanent and passive. Like a unique art or tech that makes the good seed stand out with some mechanical benefits. So maybe you might wanna flesh it out to something like

Cool bonus: Elixer Body. Nicovas accumulates almost no side-effect from taking pills or medicine meant for Cultivation. This allows him to cultivate faster via the usage of common Qi enhancing pills ( Which he gets via favour trading)

Like this, he gets a Boost throughout each turn, a in-verse reason that makes him stand out and hence qualify as a good seed which is that unlike most people he can cultivate using medicine, hence using the bureaucracy to fuel his cultivation.

Brief explanation of the above, is that in most Xianxia fiction taking medicine to improve cultivation is a once off thing, with needing new and rare medicine as they grow. They also usually come with something like medicinal effects in the cultivator's body that will hurt them or prevent them from advancing if the accumulate to much. Hence why they can't spam Qi pills.

With the above, that isn't a factor for Nicovas giving a reason for him to take the cheaper pills multiple times instead of having to seek out better ones. Again, just some feedback regarding your choice of good seed bonus

The length of the background is fine actually. Most of the backgrounds are about that long and detailed.

As for the free bonus, the bonus should be fine. Some have bonuses that improve the bloodline cultivation like Rina Callista, or bonuses that make their character a prodigy in a profession like Achille Adephos. It all comes down to the writer in the end, and what they want for their character. If there`s a problem the QM will say so.

'

I'm fine with the cultivation boost, but be aware it'll be small - Cool Things make you stronger within your small realm, so you should expect Nicovas to usually be in the same small realm as his peers, occasionally being ahead by 1 small realm on occasion as he breaks through a little earlier.

Yeah, I'm not sure as straight "better cultivation" for a cool thing actually? I was thinking something like a "mind palace" but that seems a little off theme and I'm not sure what cool thing it would even do. Perfect memory for things he has put effort into memorizing?

Well, it's only a story. The Good Seeds are a fun sidestory bit.

@occipitallobe I would like to edit my post for the cool bonus to be a mind palace instead, does that sound legit?

Achille Adephos 6 - Thesis I
Achille Adephos Thesis I

I decided to do some naming for Arrays, and Array conventions, just for internal use as part of Achilles omakes, since Canon doesn't yet have many details, though if any other good seeds authors want to use them, that's fine as well.

---
A Thesis on Array Crafting: By Achille Adephos; Junior Mechanikos of the fourth division.

Introduction

The art of Array-Crafting is as varied as the myriad colours that fill the nighttime sky. To outsiders, the arcane lore and mystical codecis of the Array-Engineers are as impenetrable as darkness. I hope to, in this manuscript, shine a light on some of that obscure knowledge, so that it may become more accessible to the clan.

There are many unique styles of Array-Crafting, from the gigantic Grand-Arrays of the Golden Devil Clan to the information-oriented Arrays-Networks of the Shen Kingdom. To truly consider one's self a grandmaster of Array-Crafting, one must study and understand dozens of styles, techniques and tools.

Now, before we can begin to understand Arrays themselves, one must understand some common terminology.

Page One: Array-Engineer Ranking Terminology

First, allow me to break down the ranking methods of Array-Engineers, the name of someone who follows the art of Array-Crafting.

When one reaches the level of being able to consistently craft Arrays of the Qi Condensation level, that person is conferred the clan title of 'Junior Mechanikos', or what an outsider might call a 'One-Star Array-Engineer'.

Beyond that is the level of being able to craft Arrays of the Foundation Establishment level. Once one reaches this level, they are conferred the title 'Senior Mechanikos', or what an outsider might call a 'Two-Star Array-Engineer.'

Even further beyond that is the level of a Grand Mechanikos, or a 'Three-Star Array Engineer', someone able to craft Arrays at the level of Core Formation.

Laying at the pinnacle of known Array arts is what we would call a Supreme Mechanikos, or what an outsider might call a 'Four-Star Array-Engineer.' This refers to someone able to craft an Array at the level of Nascent Soul. Alas, such a master has not appeared in the clan for many centuries, though I hope to one day change that.

I'm sure there are levels beyond even that, to describe the enigmatic to the extreme, higher cultivation levels, though I dare say, such a thing will likely never be relevant to your journey as an Array-Engineer.

Page Two: Types of Arrays

Next, we must understand the various types of Arrays. There are broadly two types of Arrays. Combat Arrays, and Non-Combat Arrays, or what I like to call 'Utility Arrays'.

Combat Arrays are then customarily split into three categories, Defensive Arrays, Trap Arrays, and Battlefield Arrays.

Trap Arrays are generally small, one-time use Arrays set up, as the name sounds, like a trap. They might be fields of tiny explosive Arrays, or Arrays set up to catch game in a forest. Such things all land under the umbrella term 'Trap Array'.

Next is the so-called 'Battlefield Array,' though I find it more useful to refer to them as 'Soldier Arrays'.

They are generally small offensive Arrays inscribed into mobile Array-Plates that can be activated easily. They come in all shapes in sizes, such as the Golden Armor Array that generates translucent armour capable of blocking ten small blows, to the Sand-Shot Array, used to fire sand into an opponent's eyes. All such small arrays used by offensive troops land under the term 'Battlefield Array'.

Finally, we come to Defensive Arrays. When the term Array comes to mind, Defensive Array's are what people think of. They are the massive Arrays; centred around cities, headquarters and bases designed to defend from or repel invaders. They can be attack type Arrays such as the Shattering Glass Spear Array used to snipe enemies of the Golden Devil Clan to the Blood Path Detection Array used by smaller nations to track down any stragglers from the blood path within their land. Any such massive, non-mobile Arrays are referred to as 'Defensive Arrays'.

Beyond combat-related Arrays are Utility Arrays, or what most call 'Non-Combat Arrays'. These are any Arrays used for purposes aside from combat or anything directly related to combat. Due to how obviously varied such a field would be, most do not bother categorizing such things, so I have devised my own system, one that has begun to catch ablaze amongst the youth of the clan.

Cultivation Arrays, Transportation Arrays, Environmental Arrays, Labour Arrays. Machine Arrays, and for the extremely specific Arrays that can not be grouped in any meaningful manner, we have Miscellaneous Arrays.

Cultivation Array refers to any Array that complements one cultivation, whether it be a common Spirit Gathering Array that collects ambient Qi, to mysterious and profound formations that allow one to speak with, and challenge their Inner Demons. These all fall within the category of Cultivation Array.

Transportation Array refers to any Array related to transportation. Whether it be a teleportation array or simply a vehicle run by Arrays, like the trains of the Jiansgen Clan's land, these all fall within the category of Transportation Arrays.

Environmental Array refers to any Array related to manipulation of the environment, whether that be the terraforming Arrays used by the clan in places like the Uncast Molds, or to create fertile land in the otherwise inhospitable desert. They are Arrays used to clear the air of smoke or draw in water to high land. These all fall within the category of Environmental Arrays

Labour Array
refers to any Array that does work that is normally done by an ordinary person, such as farming, cleaning a room or chopping wood. These all Fall under the category of Labour Arrays.

Mechanical Array refers to any Array that does work normally done by a machine or tool, such as a Clock-Array that replaces an hourglass, or a camera-Array that replaces a window. These all Fall under the category of Mechanical Arrays.

Finally, we come to Miscellaneous Arrays. These simply refer to any of the overly specific Array not already categorized.

Page 3: Array Tools and Components

To craft an Array one needs tools and something to make an Array on.

An accomplished Array-Engineer must work on a myriad of surfaces, stone, wood, metal, parchment and even thread. Thus a multi-purpose Array-Crafting Tool, what we call an Ergeilio, and what an outsider would call an 'Aggregation-Hand'.

An Ergeilio is far more precise at cutting stone than any chisel, better at sewing thread than any needle and better at cutting wood than any axe. It is considered a coming of age ceremony for any Array-Engineer to craft his own, and I reckoned you do so as soon as possible. Mass-produced ones are not only lower quality but when you create your own, it will be perfectly suited for your specifications.

My own has dozens of different appliances and tools, from rulers to chisels to screwdrivers and more.

Next, we come to Array components.

Small Arrays intended to be mobile are usually placed onto Array-Plates, usually book-sized sheets of thin metal, wood or jade, though other materials can be used. Larger, but still mobile Arrays are often palace on Array-Flags, painted or even embroidered onto the flag itself.

When creating Arrays not intended to be moved, one would usually employ an Array Capstone, a large rock or boulder that has an Array carved onto it.

For much, much larger Arrays, usually exclusively for Defensive Formations intended to cover entire cities or nations bring us to Array-Spire.

Array-Spire's are massive obelisks of solid metal, connected by sturdy underground pipes. Arrays are often directly carved onto them, or even sometimes forged into the inside of the tower to protect the Array from the weather.

Page Four: The Grand Art of Array-Crafting…(To Be Continued)

@occipitallobe I think you accidentally marked my previous omake Achille Adephos six as Achille Adephos five.

[X] Plan: infrastructure
-[X] Fortifying (against the devil bees)
-[X] Lecturing
-[X] Build up the Scorpion Road (5 Wealth)
-[X] Rebuild the Golden Eye Array (7 Wealth)
-[X] Regain Full Strength (6 Wealth)

I know that fortifying against the devil bees will get us diminishing returns but it seems that the devil bees are deciding who to attack and the harder a target we became the higher the chances the devil bees will attack the verdant south and not us.

Taking the personal action to lecture seems like a ferly obvious thing to do when we are trying to regain our former strength

And as to the purchases taking the regain full strength is a no brainer, the golden eye array will allow us more precise and easier to get intelligence which is important, the scorpion road is a good way to both increase our income and to get good will with the righteous powers and we still keep a sizeable amount of wealth in reserve for various crisis's and the waging of war.

Nothing to see here, just a plan to turtle up and get ready for the Trials

[X] Plan Turtle
-[X] Fortifying Earth Bounty City Spirit Mine
-[X] Lecturing
-[X] Rebuild the Golden Eye Array (7 Wealth)
-[X] Build up the Scorpion Road (5 Wealth)
-[X] Regain Full Strength (6 Wealth)

Colonization is good, but really something i rather do after the trials. Doing it now just strikes me as making our mortals a fresh target for the members to the Trials to pillage and kill. I also like the idea that by doing it at the end of the trials, when it comes again we can surprise them with a ripe crop of cultivators from those lands since that will take the full 100 years

Adding the Golden Eye array to hopefully cover for the intrigue action since i believed protecting our source of wealth is more important. If it gets taken out, we lose a huge portion of our wealth.

Scorpion Road reason is the same as mentioned by others, that Goodwill is useful to us. And it might help prevent us from being jumped when we are recovering from the Trials

Full Strength because it synergies with with Lecture for max benefits.

@Mochinator @LordEdric @uri @TehChron @Marlin @Matthew Gates

All of you have made plans, which is good, but when you write in details you get a bonus to the success of your actions, which given how close we are to the hundred-year trials, is something we want as much of as possible. I would advise you guys to edit some stuff to your plans.

All the plan are about lecturing or economic activity, so maybe something like

[] Lecturing
--[] Specifically lecture about survivability, how to avoid injury, block blows and minimize damage. Focus on getting everyone prepared to survive the hundred year trials.

or

[]Lecturing
--[] Focus on teaching people how to maintain calm and formation is massive chaotic battlefeilds, focus on getting everyone prepared for the chaos inherent in the hundred year trials.

And for the plans doing economic activity, maybe something like

[] Economic Activity - Carve arrays, scribe useful cultivation techniques onto scrolls, hunt down useful opportunities that might be dangerous to a Core Formation Elder. Make some money for the Clan.
--[] Focus on going for low risk, high reward jobs with the best risk to reward ratio. Use your own judgment and instinct over which jobs are the least likely to have unknown dangers.

or

[] Economic Activity - Carve arrays, scribe useful cultivation techniques onto scrolls, hunt down useful opportunities that might be dangerous to a Core Formation Elder. Make some money for the Clan.
--[] Focus on going for short but high paying jobs, one time contracts that can be quickly rushed through to make as much money as possible before the hundred year trials.

Obviously write in whatever you think meshes best with your plan, these are just examples of what you could do. I'm basically just saying we want to do our best just before the hundred years trials and we get a good bonus to the success of our actions when we write out well planned out or complex things.

That sounds more interesting, to be honest. 'Perfect memory' sounds like the sort of thing that'd crop up situationally but interestingly.

@occipitallobe is it possible for a more powerful Cool thing if you give it large negatives as well? Like more power but greater tribulation risk.

Ideally not. I try to avoid things that take more than a baseline of effort to deal with mechanically because there are so many Good Seeds to deal with. If it's super crucial to a character idea let me know and I'll look at it situationally, though.

Yeah.. I'm not the best at plans and i mainly wanted to get the ball rolling for something i would like.

It was kinda wasted since @uri did one with like 90% of what i wanted anyway. I'm afraid i don't really have the time to breakdown and stunt each action, but i'm more then willing to throw my vote to someone that can do that with what i want.

Brief brief question for curiosity sake. Since most Good Seeds have the Clan Bloodline as a bonus, can a Good Seed from outside the Clan change it for another bonus along that line while trading away the ability to use the Clan Formations as well ? Again just for curiosity

For the Scorpion Road, are the players actually ready to make it safer for the Plains to enter into the Desert? Cause while we can earn goodwill, it is a double edged sword. The players have not attempted to make normal diplomatic ties with the Strength Purity Sect, instead looking at the Scorpion road and going. "Cool! Easy diplomacy attempt."

The scorpion road is a start, if we want something more than just general good will (minor as it is) we probably would need to spend a turn or two focusing on our diplomacy with them but the main benefit of the scorpion road isn't that it generates good will, its main benefit it that it is a relatively cheap option that increases our income and generates good will at the same time.

I mean we don't really have the actions to do so ? And i'm pretty sure that in previous turns we were to busy to do so as well. I'm personally using this as the start to the diplomacy attempts.

We're essentially giving up something for the trust. Frankly, if the Strength Purity wanted to stomp us, there's nothing we can do about it...

Guess i will try a brief stunt for my plan, i highly encourage better ones

[X] Plan Turtle
-[X] Fortifying Earth Bounty City Spirit Mine
---[X] Revamp the security of the mine by instituting daily passcodes, build up arrays to hide and direct attention away from the mines. Prepare explosives to blow up the entrances of the mines to hide it while minimzing damage to the mining infrastructure.
----[X] Assign more Clansman to practice defending the mines and ensure that there is always a rotation of clansmen nearby
-[X] Lecturing
--[X] Lecture the juniors on common tricks and arts used by the Trial participants.
---[X] Teach them tricks and ways to survive against a stronger foe, such as the best ways to leverage the Clan's formations
-[X] Rebuild the Golden Eye Array (7 Wealth)
-[X] Build up the Scorpion Road (5 Wealth)
-[X] Regain Full Strength (6 Wealth)

At the cost of granting safe passage on the Scorpion Road, removing one of the advantages of choosing the desert. That being that any invading cultivators would have to deal with the desert. I mean sure you get goodwill, but the cost for the Clan is to tear our own arm off for a paltry sum. That's what I see anyway.

what? how dos improving the safety of the scorpion road removes one of the advantages of the desert?

Fighting in the desert Is costly because the low amount of Qi in in the air, making our main trading rode safer buy (I presume) more patrols for bandits and spirit beast, constructing more rest stops wouldn't magically make the desert more prospers with Qi.

[X] Plan Firming Foundations
-[X] Increasing Wealth - More trade, more mines, more growth. Aim to find more Spirit Stones, tax more from traders, whatever works to increase your Clan Wealth. Increases Wealth by an average of 5.
"With the Burnished Crags and Uncast Molds now in hand, the time has come to dig deep and greedily, to leech as much wealth from the land before either the Heaven's turn their accursed gaze upon the Clan's good fortune, or until the Blood Cannibal Sect come back to test those defenses which you had spent so much to raise up and make them your lands in truth; by the baptism of the blood of your people."
-[X] Economic Activity - Carve arrays, scribe useful cultivation techniques onto scrolls, hunt down useful opportunities that might be dangerous to a Core Formation Elder. Make some money for the Clan.
"There is something to be said for using the strength of the Clan's most powerful to further the resources of the Clan itself. The mind nourishes the body, the body nourishes the soul, and in the absence of pursuing ever greater strength it is necessary to lay the foundations for the Optimatoi to be able to afford the greater strength necessary to thrive. Though so many of your foes have been bloodied, none have truly fallen, and to leave a wounded foe alive is the greatest expense of all. One paid in the blood of your future Junions. Best make yourselves able to afford it."
-[X] Invest in Colonisation (10 Wealth)
"Many are staking their claims, their futures, upon the possibility presented by the lands you have gained from the Blood Cannibals. To the West, you have used the bounty of that battle to defend against raids from the Devil Bees. Now the time has come to let spur your Clan eastward as well! Arrays and battlements are well and good, but the most important defense shall always be stout men and women to hold the gate against the enroaching foes of this accursed Flipper Region! Let your clan expand further, and through sheer density of population, crush any and all of the Blood Path who would dare tread upon your lands again!"
-[X] Rebuild the Golden Eye Array (7 Wealth)
"Oh certainly, the Clans ability to keep an eye on its foes is superb. After all, the Dao of Heaven's Shadow ferrets out the secrets of your rivals...But this requires information. A certain base threshold to be met. As tenuous a thread as your Clan's prosperity hangs upon, the need for as much strength as possible has grown ever higher as you seek to wrench yourselves upwards from the spiral into oblivion which even now you find yourselves staring down. The more information the better, and your Dao shall reveal ever more secrets to help guide your Clan through the treacherous waters which you find yourselves all but drowning in."
-[X] Regain Full Strength (6 Wealth)
"The least, and yet most important thing of all. Were you to only be at your strength before the Trials on the very eve of them, then would not those Trials have served their purpose? Arresting your people's growth, grinding you down ever further? No! Not after this past century! Not after these victories which you all had fought so hard for, even as you failed them in the face of the Jingshen Clan's own diplomatic games. If you wish to safeguard your Juniors from becoming the victims of your rivals to the East, the Golden Devils must surpass the meager strength held under your leadership. First, return to your previous strength less than a century ago. And in the scant decades before the Trials return? Become stronger. But. It all starts now."

Per @ninjastar 's suggestion

Infrastructure can be hijacked and used by invaders that claim it.

If the Scorpion Road is in good enough repair, then all an invading force needs to do is slaughter its defenders to turn the Road into a highly effective logistical line under their control. Good roads are easy to navigate and use, regardless of who controls them.

Yes, but that doesn't remove the cost of operating in the dessert.
