New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

We've already made the decision that stopping the Alter Lords rampage is more important than helping him spite Heaven. We did it when we stayed with the Righteous Alliance. I see no reason we should change our minds now.
We did what we could to stop them. We took almost every deal that SPS offered. Sent Good Seeds on Missions to fight them. We did the right thing.

However, the NDA still murdered millions of people. That happened despite our help. They've killed enough that Demon Altar has served its purpose. They have completed their 'resource' gathering before the NDA broke, and Altar Lord says he doesn't mind if they collapse now.

The price has already been paid. It's fine if you don't believe the ends justify the means, but if the means have already all been murdered and now there's just the ends left, you're not in the right for blocking them. That's just wasteful. Altar Lord murdered millions to enact a great ritual for a path to defeating Heaven, we're not getting those people back by sparing Heaven the most powerful blow we've ever seen.

As for Demonic Altar Sect? They've lost. They're done. The 32nd Altar Lord will be the last one, he says so himself. They'll be crushed in a turn and even Altar Lord doesn't mind.

Now, I've got no idea what he could possibly want a distraction from if he doesn't mind if his sect collapses. If the Maze and the Bees are not meant to take pressure off of Demonic Altar, what are they meant to take pressure from? But that's what he says, and he says he desperately needs that distraction.

Letting Demonic Altar survive a turn or two longer is not the same as helping them win the war. They were just routed, they're bottled up, they're out of mortals. No comparison.

While Manuel hates Blood Path, he doesn't hate Altar Lord. They both have the same goals, after all.

The murdered people are already dead, and while we did what we could to save them, the Golden Devils have no moral objection to using the dead in their fight against Heaven.

I would argue that the problem here is that 'We don't actually know what the Altar Lord's game plan is, just that he is willing to pay any price, and damn any number of people to do it'. He claims it's to spite the Heavens and harm them in some fashion, and that certainly seems a part of it.

But he still deleted his memory of certain key details before meeting Manuel, because for all he was buttering him up, he wasn't willing to risk Manuel plucking that Secret out from him.

More importantly, we asked about it, and having that Observer Seat actually does--in fact--give SPS a chance to save face by taking it away from us, which mitigates the diplomatic hit we're about to take.

Also, I'll admit that the reasoning behind the plan is Insanely meta and functionally impossible to make IC without handwaving. That kind of metagaming makes my skin crawl. "I had a vision that he was on his last legs and so decided to change my foreign policy" is super skeevy from my perspective. Also, again, we don't actually know what his endgame is, just that a Great Era is on the horizon and for once, we're not exempt from it.

Yes, the Heavens are our foe.

That doesn't mean we won't suffer if the universe blows up while we're still in it. And the Altar Lord seems to feel that any price is worth paying if it hurts the Heavens. We have no idea what the scope of his plan is or what the consequences of his method will be.

The guy whose plan he is following had "murder the Third Turtle Child" as his great accomplishment, and was apparently intending to try to murder the Great Turtle. Now, the one surely did hurt the heavens, and the other most assuredly would... but that doesn't necessarily make them things that we want to have happen.

The IC justification is, simply put, believing that by maximizing the distractions the RP has, we hope to quickly decapitate the Jingshen while they're distracted by multiple fronts, aided by a lack of our assistance.

The OOC information only emphasizes this, rather than being the main thrust, because we know something is almost guaranteed to happen - and it's likely it's going to be at worst equally harmful to us, and at best more harmful to RP.

To me, this is just us making the decision to no longer focus any resources on diplomacy, but fully commit to the war and worry about RP after we win - not putting the cart before the horse and all that.

[X] Plan: Altar Lord's Last Chance

Hmm, it looks like the only substantive differences between the current leading proposal and mine is the choice of the Shambler Legion over the Hong Xuan Division and Scorpion Legions.

I thought I would outline a little of why I think the Plant Army is the superior choice. Make of it what you will:

As I see it, the primary purpose of our invasion is to force a confrontation with the Jingshen Nascent souls on favourable ground. If we can secure that confrontation and win, everything else is secondary.

If our conventional forces don't present enough of a threat to force them out, we might as well never have invaded. A doubled up 'Hunt the Enemy' action would be a better choice. Whats worse, if the Jingshen decline a fight they have a wide array of other options that could really punish us. They have Nascent candidates waiting in the wings for ascension, an RP coalition they can demand help from, vaults full of spirit stones they can use to secure troops from the Mountain Sects. We can, and will, try and counter some of these, but no proposed counter can promise certainty, and eventually something will give. The Jingshen then are incentivised to try and play for a long war, while our primary advantage (the demon war) is fleeting.

That brings me to the Plant Legion. They have been accurately described as a terror weapon, and I would suggest a terror weapon is exactly what we need. If it works as advertised, we have something that compels Nascent attention, buying us the chance at a favourable encounter we desperately need.

By comparison, the other two purchases seem like either small beer or potentially counterproductive. I'll take each in turn.

The Scorpion Legions: I won't lie, this is a nice option. If the Mirror weren't an absolute must buy, this would be in my plan. Shoring up our greatest weakness by mounting two of our seven offensive legions is very promising.

On the other hand, the write up itself indicates the scorpions won't improve combat performance. Moreover to quote our marshal

We would take specific hardpoints, invest them, and move our offensive Legions onwards, but this would be a grinding set of sieges lasting decades on decades if conducted conventionally.

The conventional fight is primarily going to be a series of bitter sieges, ground that favours fear inducing, expendable, regenerating heavy infantry over cavalry.

Overrall, the Scorpion Riders might increase the amount of land we acquire by a noticable fraction, but they aren't going to be the significant gamechanger that forces the Jingshen into that unfavourable confrontation we want so badly. This makes them merely a 'nice to have' that we can't afford.

The Hong Xuan Division:
Honestly, if we werent just about to declare war on a RP power I would be quite excited about this option.

If we were looking to invade next turn, and this turn was about a grand heist on the Jingshens nascent treasures, I would be arguing for it. Solving a domestic issue while papering over any cracks our criminal actions caused in diplomatic relations at the same time would be a sweet move.

As it stands, I feel like we are deciding to start a blazing inferno in the SPS's backyard, then throwing half a cup of water on it. Any small diplomatic gains this move makes us is as nothing compared to attacking a coalition member in good standing. Accepting and most likely losing the Council Seat is already a big enough investment, this is barely going to register, and it takes up a valuable purchase slot.

Hong Xuan probably aren't going to be glad we held their hand to the blaze either.

Imagine you are a Hong Xuan elder, you hear about this fantastic opportunity for your FB nephew. He gets to go and see the world, make connections with RP powers in lands he would otherwise never get to visit. As the text highlights, its a huge networking opportunity, the type a mere regional power would love to have.

Then just as they arrive, us, the guys who sold you the ticket to an opportunity of a lifetime, purposefully kick off a diplomatic incident that promises to make your tour awkward at best. Fatal at worst.

The Hong Elder is going to remember you did that.

The Division is a valuable choice in a totally different strategy. In the current set up, its simply paying for the privilege of annoying a vassal, when those resources are desperately needed elsewhere.

Anyway. Thats my 2 cents on the matter, happy to answer anyones questions/clarify anything.

This is incorrect. He put those memories back before meeting Manuel the third time, when he was finally willing to read Manuel in.
Manuel smiled.

He felt his Dao seeking, grasping, finding nothing held from him.

No secrets, he found.

The truth was simple enough. Altar Lord desired his aid, and needed Heaven's Shadow for any possible victory. This made sense, for how could one oppose Heaven without some similar power of your own? He had not truly known whether Heaven's Shadow was something he had connected to or whether he had somehow fashioned it, but his belief had been in the former. This had been twofold confirmation.

He ran his hand along his robe, smoothing out a piece of cloth that had gotten caught on itself, all bundled up.

"Altar Lord, I must say you have spent a great deal to convince me of your sincerity. Let me speak likewise with sincerity. I am convinced."

The other man looked at him, frowning.

"I am convinced in your sincerity. I am convinced that you believe together we might somehow challenge the Heavens. I am utterly convinced that you believe you serve a higher cause than mere murder for power. Moreover, I find it likely that you are, to some degree, correct. That once Heaven is done with you, it will come for us. That if we do not stand together, we will be crushed piecemeal."
This is after Altar Lord reminded himself of his secrets.
Manuel believes in Altar Lord's sincerity, and Manuel is a very paranoid person.
More importantly, we asked about it, and having that Observer Seat actually does--in fact--give SPS a chance to save face by taking it away from us, which mitigates the diplomatic hit we're about to take.
Okay, and if SDSS on behalf of RP takes it first, SPS still has to respond with its own punitive action. While removing an observer's seat is a punitive action, it's still a public slap in SPS's face to invade immediately after they give us said seat. Not a good way of keeping goodwill. Betrayal is worse than not taking their hand in the first place.

That's not metagaming. Occi said that what we see in interludes are what was divined by Manuel. This information is literally given to us by the Shadow of Heaven, and is IC, not OOC.

I agree. We don't know his endgame. However, Soup Chef has the ability to tell secrets that only one person can know. Heaven can punish people for talking about certain secrets. Him not telling us what it is does not make him untrustworthy.

He, a man disgusted with Blood Path, believes the end justifies the means and believes that Manuel and Hu Ai, good people, would agree with him if only he could share the information.

That doesn't mean we won't suffer if the universe blows up while we're still in it. And the Altar Lord seems to feel that any price is worth paying if it hurts the Heavens. We have no idea what the scope of his plan is or what the consequences of his method will be.
The world isn't going to blow up, he regrets letting the Maze and Bees expand. That means he expects them to still be present and evil when he's successful. If a positive result were to be that catastrophic, it wouldn't matter what he allowed NK and AB to do, they'd all be dead anyway.
It's also not a simple rise into Spirit Severing, he doesn't care about accumulating power as a goal. This is going to be his goal, his magnum opus, the entire point.

That which hurts Heaven isn't necessarily going to be good for us right now, but it will keep Heaven from killing us all when it's done with Blood Path. Altar Lord wants hope in a currently hopeless situation. A path to not inevitably lose, or even a path to win against Heaven.

Altar Lord describes him as a one in an eternity genius who paved the path towards freedom. Even if this is rose-eyed, that's still what he thinks his Lord wanted. Freedom from Heaven's slavery is Altar Lord's goal, and there's reason to believe it was Soup Chef's goal too. He's been described as a really smart, driven guy who had plans and plots for everything he did. I highly doubt he killed gods for the fun of it.

We do have very good reason to try to extend the war for one more turn, but whatever we learn from Interludes is canonically stuff Manuel divines.

Is the altar lord really going to significantly inconvenience the heavens? Our interactions with SoHW suggest that the consequences of messing with the heavens don't just jump power brackets, so I doubt it's going to exceed the top of Nascent Soul.
I don't think this is correct, but I'm not an expert on the soul/heaven stuff. I'm pretty sure Soup Chef took power brackets as a suggestion to be ignored. Also something about single pillars?

Either way, this is the culmination of 32 Altar Lords. I assume he knows what he's doing.

Edit: I looked for the source, I can't find where Occi said that we can use Interludes as IC information. I'll hopefully be back with confirmation.

Edit edit: I asked for confirmation and got it.
Occipitallobe said:
Assume if the information isn't known directly, Manuel is capable of inferring sufficient portions of it to use it as part of his decision-making process. I expect the thread to plan based on the updates provided, so the assumption is all updates provided are to some degree IC knowledge

Manuel believes in Altar Lord's sincerity, and Manuel is a very paranoid person.

that is not true, he did NOT put those memories back

As he approached the altar, a number of scrolls tumbled out of nowhere.

He looked down at them. Reading over them quickly, it was a series of clues and suggestions designed to lead him to certain beliefs. He did not remember putting them there, nor did he remember any of the facts inferred.

Ah.

Of course. The old man. It was one thing to hide a secret, another to destroy the knowledge entirely. Only clues remained, and Altar Lord had been able to infer the truth once more. He had thought it might be the case, but now he knew once more.

He would be the last Demonic Altar Lord. Time was running out.

That jus means he needed to not have secrets and go to the last meeting with a very certain mindset. he basically brainwashed himself for that last talk to have any chance to sell his plan for us.
A plan he wouldn't tell unless we agreed to it before knowing anything about it.

So you think that he erased all his memories, then only gave himself access to clues that would lead him to a false conclusion rather than erasing his memories and relearning the actual truth?

If you're using his own internal monologue to support that he only got the false clues that would manipulate Manuel, then he already knows he's lying, which Manuel would pick up on. It also allows me to use his internal monologue to support my own claim:
Only clues remained, and Altar Lord had been able to infer the truth once more. He had thought it might be the case, but now he knew once more.
He hid the truth from Manuel for the first two meetings, then taught himself the truth for the third.

If he thought, like you, that 'certain beliefs' meant false conclusions, he wouldn't think to himself with such surety that now he knew the truth.

Hm, how do I say this without revealing spoilers...

So, in short, this isn't correct. There are effects that can be obtained in our current playing field that can disproportionately damage the Heavens despite the tier of our current playing field.

Soup Chef didn't leave the Third a dead sea blinded from the Heavens without leaving methods to strike at them even with the cap on cultivation.

I'll have to leave it at that.

Except, the truth was the very next sentence, which you didnt copy.

He would be the last Demonic Altar Lord. Time was running out.

and its Xianxia land with magic, why else would he destroy his memories and leave only clues that point to a single well manifactured goal when he could have just written it out plain and simple? which he most likely did, only to read AFTER hearing our response.

if you still want to argue about his honesty, then go on, but for me, he cant be trusted, end of the argument.

on another note, @occipitallobe could you explain the division a bit? like, where would they be assingned? as its a bit vague whats thier point is, aside from throwing money at Hong Xuang to shut up.

I'm almost completely certain that the reason the Altar Lord erased some of his memories was because some of the memories that could be deduced using the Shadow of Heaven would instantly call a tactical tribulation nuke on our area.

Remember, the Shadow of Heaven had to invest energy that would, and I quote, have killed even Spirit Severing cultivators within Manuel's range while he was restraining it in order for him to not get autokilled, just for the knowledge that Law Creation existed. (This was from Discord.)

It's highly likely that Altar Lord obtained similar protection from karma from the Will of the Altar, something he couldn't have extended to Manuel so he would have just died after the revelation.

"He would be the last Altar Lord." That's leaving out all the information that led him to that conclusion. You can't say that's the only thing he learned from the clues.

Why would he only leave himself clues, instead of writing it down in plain language? So that Fleshharrower and Kinslaughterer wouldn't find and learn it. They're not trustworthy.

Now that you point it out, yes, it's probably quite likely that there are other hidden caches of clues for Altar Lord to find, but that doesn't make what he figured out untrue. It led him logically to a particular conclusion, based on what he already knew as leader of Demonic Altar. Someone not exposing every secret they know to a possible enemy doesn't make them dishonest.

Edit: Support for ReaderOfFate:

Manuel's smile grew wistful.

"Only fragments of the Secret Histories were carried with us when we were driven from the Tower, you know. Most were destroyed deliberately, to keep them from our enemies. As Archegetes of the Imperial Optimatoi, I alone am permitted to read them, I alone bear the burden of Karma, the desire of Heaven to suppress the humiliations it suffered. For your desire to challenge Heaven, I will share with you this burden. Are you willing?"

Altar Lord nodded, blood streaming from his nose, though he made no attempt to stop it.

"I am willing. I doubt the burden would increase - what I bear is beyond the ailing remnants of the Sea-Conquering Army."

He stated this as simple fact, no sneering, no attempt to diminish Manuel or the Clan.

Manuel nodded, and spoke.
It's also perfectly possible that some of the secrets Altar Lord hides from himself are too much to bear, even for him. So he squirrels them away in an external disc drive.

Zeno Angelus - The lightning devils stand at Thousand Song
The lightning devils stand at Thousand Song

As the walls were once more under bombardment in between the lulls of bloodpath waves, Zeno mused. Fighting day by day should have tired us out after years of holding down Thousand Song City, but at this point he couldn't help, but find the constant displacement of air, shattering upon their qi carved walls…tranquil. No, that's not quite the right word. That would imply he wasn't ready for combat. It simply became mundane after a while.

Even after he returned from Amaranths' ascension, new heavenly iron tipped boots and gloves in hand, the city held. Spring turned to winter many times and with every new spring the piles of bodies, not already flensed by their comrades or burned by us, would thaw, and provide easy marks for our ballistae operators seeking targets. On one such a fine spring evening, sun still shining high, reports indicated an enemy core marching on the gates. That alone wouldn't rouse the wounded scion of Angelus, but there was just one problem. Our allied sects died like flies and the only competent ally nearby that can face that idiot swaggering along a well-trodden path to breach our part of the wall, is herself currently held up elsewhere.

Setting his latest report from the wall down on the desk, the centurion with a fresh lightning scar across his throat rises from his wooden seat. "Optio Xia, you hold command the wall while I distract the enemy expert. Make sure lady Callista can reach us as fast as possible!" Not a second later she bowed in obeisance with her closed fists.

Pointing to Iohannis Zeno continued. "You help Alexandria and I launch us off the ballistae."

"Y-Yes, Centurion!" was the only reply Iohannis gave before running for his post.

The door closed; they start the daily ritual since the ascension of their comrade. Alexandria helps Zeno put on the some heavenly-water salve in hard-to-reach places in hopes of not aggravating his injuries in the coming battle she asks. "Is that really wise? Your wounds have only just healed enough for you to take to the field again in truth. Even the medics are not certain if a higher expert simply concentrating his will on you, might just break you."

Zeno, while doing his own part of the ritual, responds with a low voice. "Probably not dear, but what choice do we have? Our 'allies' die like flies in the siege, despite being in the same realm. Taking one of them with us is worse than useless. They would just be gutted for their arrogance and devoured as a snack by the core expert on their way. And Xia…isn't ready, despite our best efforts."

She speaks. "We could hail them with bolts behind the walls-".

He rebukes Alexandria softly with a scarred right pointer finger on her lips. "And we would suffer under the obvious artifact such a self-assured enemy has in his pockets. Why else would he walk directly towards this part of the wall after not being sighted for the last two years? That timing is not a coincidence!"

At that statement Alexandria raises her own voice, while putting the last glove of his armour back on for him. "If we must. At least the others don't have to worry too much. WE will destroy them this time!"

Done with the salve, Alexandria puts the container away. Meanwhile Zeno prepares his newest weapon, making sure the heavenly iron tips sit properly. More routine than any conscious thought at this point. A worrying thought occurs to him once more.

"Alex…a Pillar-"

Grasping his stubbled chin fondly, she whispers in the low light of the candle flickering. "Shush these traitorous thoughts dear. They wouldn't bother so late into the war and if there is even the merest hint of someone like that appearing, lady Callista would attend to them personally."

After clasping his armoured hands and enjoying a moment of silence together they head out; their posture reassuring everyone the couple pass by.

They reach the ballistae formation quickly. After making sure Xia is locked in combat with the rampaging wall scaling fodder, they load the specially prepared bolt into the contraption. Iohannis counts them off, lever in hand.

As Zeno's boots touch the bolt the smell of ozone, reminiscent of a thunderstorm approaching, the bolt glows and flies with speed barely seen by the juniors of this platoon. Their minds occupied by the board of colours overwhelming their senses, while the displaced air throws the nearest enemies off their feet. After the air clears, all can see the bat winged core expert removing the sizzling bolt from his abdomen with struggle. The wounds starting to heal before their eyes.

All assembled give the brazen attack a moment of silence and even distant juniors of allied sects cease their squabbling to admire the moment.

"You will pay for this pathetic devil once I have you in my hands!" Was the first response the red robed expert gave after much coughing, readying his bone spear against the two lesser beings.

"If." Was the only answer his enemy delivered with a devilish grin on his lips, saber at the ready beside his wife. Their battlefield already littered with paper talismans, with words of liminality and deception inscribed in intricate details.

With a shout of "[Twin-headed Devil Avatar]" by the Golden Devils opposing their superior core expert, the battlefield returned to chaos.

--

With the glow of heavenly lightning obscuring the wall for precious seconds, Xia presses the advantage on the walls with a shout. "Advance, let no hunter of our subjects survive!"

Her comrades get up back into formation with practiced ease, waltzing the first-row enemies into paste before the breached kill zone beside them can comprehend the damage wrought on their assault leader.

The pushback followed promptly. As the hoplite pierces and bashes the row before them, the lesser fodder tries to crawl and grasp above their bodies. Any such notions are quickly punished by supporting drunkard allies throwing various qi filled utensils at the enemies, throwing the enemies farther than the first glance would lead one to believe.

Before long the second row falls as well, leaving only the leader on the walls and his goons. The defenders' luck doesn't hold. A volley of blood arrows pin down the righteous ones, forcing them behind a wall of qi reinforced corpses and various nooks.

With the hoplite dispelled and dispersed, the enemy declares his intentions to the fools opposing him. "Die quicker you dumb mutts. My appetite can't be sated with such an annoying wind dispersing your glorious smell!"

In retaliation a Strength Purity Sect expert charges at the assembled foes, throwing various weapons lying around with uncanny precision. The first two shots are deflected before he is forced to duck away in a nook beside the devils lying in wait for their moment.

In low whisper he greets. "Greetings fellow guardians, Han Weng is the name and throwing these beasts from the walls is today's game. Ready?"

Xia answers promptly with a nod and they wait.

Finding this gallery of death and misery amusing their enemy shouts to the dogs in hiding. "Come out, come out you shitty mutts! There is enough space for everyone. In my gut everyone even has equal rights!"

A distantly slurred "Fuck you an' the mutt you rode in on!" several rows in the distance gives the intrepid allies a chance.

And Han Weng gives them the "Go!".

As the offender is flushed out of hiding with a blast they use the opportunity, no discussion needed among these comrades.

Senior Spirit Boar throws his bottled concoction, and the blood arrow disperses the flying pig poison. While the leader only got partly transformed, his 'allies' oinks to the high heavens, unheeding of their impending doom.

Han Weng rushes the enemy leader with Xia at his back. Any pig not flying away from their charge, disperses they body promptly.

The archer, unused to his new form, quickly lays down a glowing talisman on a pig. Before Xia can pierce it with her spear, it bursts. The force of the blast, forces her behind her shield, instinctively using her wings to fall safely.

Her compatriot Han Weng continues the charge, forcing the archer into melee. Uncaring for the bloody caltrops on the ground, he punches through, lifting his enemy into the air. "Repent sinner!"

The archer tries to fall back but fails. Han Weng keeps him on his toes. Every second not spend falling back, is spend poking his enemy with an arrow. And for any advantage gained, Xia supports with poking from the second line.

That does not last long, as the next wave is already pushing up the wall, forcing Xia back to rally the troops. Her new enemy already in sight, Xia saw the waves leader eat a straggler before jumping once.

Standing on the wall he looks around before addressing Xia with a grin stretching from ear to ear. "Hahahaha, finally a bird with some flesh! Do you taste as spicy as you look?"

Xia responds through gritted teeth. "I-I am spicier than you can handle!"

"Well, your banter certainly can reach higher heights. Let this senior teach you to jump to higher levels!" His first is quickly batted aside by Xia's spear.

Despite the shock of seeing her enemy jump the entire wall in one jump, Xia quickly recovers her composure and responds accordingly. Using the length of the spear to her advantage she forces her jumpy enemy to face her spear-point with every kick. Where she cannot raise her spear, she bashes her shield to deflect. Her blood allowing her to last longer, keeping her shield up where other enemies would have faltered.

Even though Xia trained for decades to hone her craft to become a legionnaire, her past as an auxiliary shows every time her shield isn't raised in time and every step not taken towards her comrades for a new hoplite. Knowing that she can't do any better, she grits her teeth, ready to and willing to win by her endurance alone.

Seemingly tired of kicking he around, he jumps on high, ready for a tower kick. "Know your place spicy bronze b-!"

"Dynamic Entry!" shouts Han Weng as he intercepts the blood rabbit in the air.

*Boom*

The air displaces rapidly before Xia. Both fighters in the air get their hair sheared off by the blast. The upper parts of the wall to the battlefield in the breach torn off and her surroundings forgotten, Xia and her juniors finally saw why their Centurion saw need for the special ammunition. The wound on the enemy, allowed Alexandria and Zeno together to stall for time.

Her Centurion looks to the world as a double-headed demon, lightning arcing between the eyes along their bronze wings. The lithe war dancers armour, together with the unravelled wings, give them a terrifying presence. Attacks suffer the terrible lightning and their form wavering in between states of different postures, makes it difficult to truly gauge their place. All that reinforces one motion in Xia's mind. Pure fear of the unknown and uncertain.

Sometimes the form is hovering, sometimes it sinks into the ground, making the core expert strike the ground. After the dust clears more illusions appear over the battlefield, enraging the enemy more and allowing more chances for lightning to exacerbate the rapidly healing wound on his chest. Each strike by the core's lesser affecting him less and less. Their effort must be enough!

*thwack*

Another sneaky strike parried for her by her Strength Purity senior returned Xia's focus to the battlefield. As Xia turns around to face her enemies, she instinctively shears an opportunistic enemy junior apart with her bronze-tipped wings. Before long Xia returns to her comrades, a line forming on the walls again, as the bloody rabbit gets thrown of the walls by Han Weng. Spears already waiting to pierce and crush the enemy jumping from their chariots of hate trampling the skies of war.

--

With the nth hit and miss and another illusion dispersing before the bat winged expert, the [Twin-headed Devil Avatar] disperses. Along with the last wing full of eyes, the uncertain feeling of a dream unfulfilled leaves the battlefield and the real combatants emerge out of the smoke. Before the saber wielding Devil can collapse, his partner wraps her left arm around him, supporting his weight as the other readies her spear at the enemy. Meanwhile clear fumes of Dream Qi begin pooling around her legs out of the remaining talismans. Her intention to [Phantasmal Jump] easy to discern, in Qi and stance. In that breath, she does not speak, for she would know words of hate known only wasted. She simply glares, ready to strike.

Seeing his own superiority acknowledged in the exhausted and bleeding state of his opponent, the expert gloats. "Ha, you foolish mutt, you could not entertain me for even a minute! Do you have any other tricks to show to me before I end your pathetic life?"

Raising a hand, with the other clutching an amulet around his neck, he answers. "I do, honoured senior!"

After a nod by the amused spear wielder Zeno responds. "I have met many a pot in my travel and none of them met my standards. It's very difficult as you no doubt are aware, good sir."

"It's LORD to you, mutt and get to it!" sneered Zeno's opponent.

Unperturbed by the contempt of his audience, he continues. "It took many years of searching for the right pot to contain and not spill me, but then it hit me from the sky like the worlds tribulation lightning, just as I met her."

Growing impatient the expert finishes Zeno's tale, who franticly investigates the sky for a sign. "And then you two fell love and she cooked for you, like a good woman? HA, a likely tale, foolish mutt!"

Alexandria cuts in. "Of course not you halfwit! I make way better food than that combat maniac ever could!

"Ha! That will make boiling you two in the pot in my gut all the better. Two foolish loving children returned to the soup they so love!" with the grating laugh of the enemy resounding across the wide barren field of packed and cracked earth inside Thousand Song; nobody dared to approach the lord and his newest toy.

The saber wielding Centurion asked in between the spear wielders bellowing laughter.

"Hey Lord pot!"

"What? Make haste you m-"

"Meet cauldron!"

With a "HURF" the expert pot met his cauldron and was no longer concerned with his new toys. Blades of water clawing at his supernal physique and their legate's qi clearly presenting herself as the culprit made sure of that. Rina Callista, Legate of the 302nd Legion, has taken to the field. For her legion a balm on the soul of their morale and for her enemies a terror with an overwhelming Dao; wielding elements like only a Nascent Soul expert is supposed to.

With just that same surety reaching Zeno and Alexandria through her Dao, they [Phantasmal Jump] to reinforce their comrades on the wall. With the Legions cauldron containing any spill over, stirring the pot and removing any unwanted ingredients was made significantly easier.

AN: Figuring out how to implement Rina saving Zeno was fun and hope I can be forgiven for such a blunt joke!

That which hurts Heaven isn't necessarily going to be good for us right now, but it will keep Heaven from killing us all when it's done with Blood Path. Altar Lord wants hope in a currently hopeless situation. A path to not inevitably lose, or even a path to win against Heaven.
Which is something that bears expanding on.

The Altar Lord never wanted the Demonic Altar Sect, or himself, to be the ones who would benefit. This was always about trying to make sure that someone, somewhere, someday would be able to stand against Heaven where the Soup Chef and the Sea-Conquering Army fell.

Heaven's Shadow is currently the most probable means of achieving that end, and thus he'll fight to the last drop of blood and the last fragment of his Dao in order to preserve it. He might have a sort of ideological sentimental affection for the Optimatoi - as a Demonic faction which isn't either backstabbing itself out of existence or doing 24/7 Mengele shit for no reason - but he freely admitted that he would sacrifice them in a heartbeat if it gave the Unrighteous Paths a better chance, just as he's already sacrificed his own Sect and countless mortals caught in the crossfire of the war.

For those of you who want to give the Altar Lord a tiny bit more leeway, I would recommend "Destasia Unleashed" over "Altar Lord's Last Chance". We need a little more SPS favor to get away with destroying Jingshen, so even if we don't go all in on appeasing them this turn, we should do it somewhat. That one buys more social capital without going all-in on bullying Altar Lord.

on another note, @occipitallobe could you explain the division a bit? like, where would they be assingned? as its a bit vague whats thier point is, aside from throwing money at Hong Xuang to shut up.

The Hong Xuan division will be auxiliaries to our own forces - likely deployed to hold cities and other important fortifications. Their point is twofold:

(1) It makes the Righteous Path more well-inclined to us
(2) By removing them from the Hong Xuan Clan entirely for a few decades and having them serve alongside the Legions we can make new relationships with their most experienced combatants, who are in turn disproportionately likely to hold positions of power and influence in future. If one or two of those Hong Xuan scions rise to Core Formation, we've made good diplomatic inroads into our vassal.

What if a plan opts to Decline sending any of our legions but still picks the Hong Xuan Division, though?

They hold cities and forts either on our lands or after we took them from the jingshen, probably.

Thanks Occi, I appreciate the clarification.
