New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Yeah. From her perspective declaring she's aiming for the 12th stage is basically a statement she's aiming for Nascent Soul in time since its biggest benefits are in that stage and resistances to its attacks in lower great realms. In terms of core formation stuff there isn't too much of incredible exceptionality that I'm interested in beyond the obvious with Twin Soul, but I'll put more thought into what to do with Core Formation if I get to Foundation Building, and at the moment I'm not sure if I want to go and actually get Twin Soul.

E: As well, a nice part about heading for the 9th Pillar is that the 8th gives some kind of tribulation boost when moving to Core Formation as heaven eases your path going by the descriptions we have.
Hmm, personally one reason i'm thinking of just sticking to the 9th Heavenstage is because of Lifespan issues. Each Good Seed has max 10 turns to hit Foundation before biting it and i'm not confident in my ability to output enough Omakes to compress the Cultivation speed + Fate rolls to make the Cultivation Progress fit that timespan.

But yeah, like you said it will be very very interesting to see in-quest on how the rarer stages of each tier are presented. Regarding Twin Souls, i think at a bare minimum the amount of Qi the Cultivator has onhand will double and i guess they will never be outnumbered since one soul can always be dispatched to pilot a puppet or a flying sword.

It might even allow for a 2nd life so to speak in case 1 soul bites it in combat. On a less meta-level, i like how underdog the whole plan is, here we have a cultivator literally raising from nothing into a Power of the Clan, any family they spawn will be a new great faction within the Clan! It's literally the stuff legends and tales are made off and i really cannot wait to see it shown through the clan's eyes!

Hopefully by the time we get to the point where a twin soul core is possible, the Golden Devils would have expanded out of the desert and into areas that can support the resources needed. Because again, the idea of a full fledged rags-to-riches playing out within the quest is something that would be extremely interesting to follow!

I personally want to go for 11th Heavenstage or maybe not at all, higher seems way to hard without being able to write tons of 10k words. Alectai is going for 13th.

One of the difficulties is definitely Lifespan, since each stage needs more time and the Good Seeds only have so much before they croak from old age. I mean, 4 turns is the lifetime of a mortal, so being able to squeeze enough artificial buffers to overcome that is pretty praiseworthy to me!

Whew. Busy day - didn't expect quite so much discussion once I came back to this.

Hmmm. Hey @occipitallobe does forcing the righteous sects to pay us tribute to cross our lands count towards weakening the curse?

Yes - longterm income of all kinds is degraded by the Heavens.

Also, I assume that forcing Old cannibal to give us child corpse gulper's corpse and a bunch of land has already been factored into the curse's current weakening state?

Temporary or one-off gains like that are difficult for Heaven's Will to subvert and so it doesn't bother to expend its strength on them.

@occipitallobe How effective is the oasis in heling core formation cultivators? how much dos Manuel think the Jingshen clan are going to charge for the heling to other righteous powers?

He's not sure. The Oasis itself is only moderately effective, its more likely Jingshen Clan have some special method to enhance it. He doesn't know how powerful it'll be. Certainly to the Golden Devil Clan it'd be a minor gain at best. It might be some art allowing them to 'frontload' the healing power - exhausting the Oasis's powers for the next few millennia in return for a century or two of turbocharged healing, or it might be an artifact or even some sort of pill or Spirit Herb that synergises well with it.

Also I think you should add perception and toughness to the Realm Guide Spreadsheet and what is the name of the city that is around the Qiguai Clan magic door way? (I need this for an omake).

Once I get the base stats figured out in a way I'm comfortable and consistent with, I might! The nearest city is probably a mortal one - small enough that I wouldn't have a name for it yet. Probably something to do with the doorway - Door Trade City, or something of the like. The doorway itself is only open every so often and it's up in the mountains in a less accessible place.

what could this do for us?

Righteous Clans are much more concerned with keeping their word and the appearance of face than Demonic ones. Good relations won't stop them declaring war on you and trying to kill you if the Righteous Powers decide you need to go down en masse, but individually they'll be nicer.

@occipitallobe for good seeds can you get a lifesaving treasure or other bonuses on a Trial turn?

Everything that's available on other turns will be available on 100-year trial turns.

Trials and Tribulations
Trials and Tribulations:

Tribulations are a part of every cultivator's life. Each Great Realm you try to break into involves a Tribulation from the Heavens. For those part of the Golden Devil Clan, Heaven's displeasure means such tribulations are far stronger than they would normally be.

Mechanically, Tribulations are made up of Difficulty, and Readiness. Difficulty is how hard your Tribulation will be. This is usually static, unless you choose to take an alternate cultivation path.

Readiness is basically your chance of breaking through. There are a few things that go into it.

(1) Your time in your Realm. Spending more time allows you to prepare for a tribulation more readily. Each turn your tribulation chance goes up. This has the biggest individual impact.

(2) Your overall Fate. Kind of an amalgam of all of the omake you've written. As a rule, characters with more Omake are Heaven's favored least disfavored and get all kinds of neat bonuses. Obviously this makes sense - writing is usually from the perspective of main characters who are favored by heaven, therefore those with more writing about them are more main-character-like and hence favored as well.

(3) Tribulation Boosts. Bought with Omake. A Tribulation Boost guarantees a breakthrough from 9th Heavenstage Qi Condensation to Foundation Building. Other, more difficult paths may require more - likewise with breaking through to Core Formation, and then Nascent Soul

If a Good Seed is ready to breakthrough, I'll make a note of it in the Good Seed Report. If they're not, I'll make a note of how many turns they are away from breaking through naturally. Usually it's around age 140 to have a 100% chance of breaking through.

Lastly, if you're less interested in guarantees and want to challenge the heavens, I can roll the dice to let your Good Seed to try and break through by chance. Failure will tend to mean death, crippling, or permanent reduction to Qi Condensation, so I advise you take this option on with some seriousness.

The mechanic is fairly similar to get to Core Formation, and then Nascent Soul, though brutally more difficult each time.

Erm, sentence cutoff here.

How many Tribulation boosts would we need to breakthrough at 13th Qi Condensation?

Question but can you call a tribulation mid battle and if so would it effect the people you're fighting to? Asking cause reading Nine Star Hegemony has given me a omake idea for the trial turn about using a Tribulation during it to both reach the next realm as well as kill my foes. Thought I would ask before I get too attached to the idea only to find out it takes months of mediation before hand to trigger the lightning or whatever

Huh ok. So for the Tribulation Boost, since it's a guranteed boost can it be used the moment the Good Seed hits 9th heavestage? Or does it only apply with that success rate if the Good Seed is ready to breakthrough ?

For this two, will they stack for the success chance of a natural tribulation? As in before the 140 that most cultivators reached naturally ? And last question, is the Tribulation boost stackable for 10th heavenstage and all ?

Since it was mentioned that 10th Heavenstage onwards is about as difficult as ascending, would 2 Tribulation bonuses be enough for the 10th and so on for the rest ? With each scaling in additive fashion ?

This sort of thing is done by super ridiculous Xianxia MCs and is always prefaced by the typical "but if anyone other than (insert MC here) were to do it they would absolutely die".

I assume that it can be called down, but facing both the lighting and whoever your enemies are, alongside heaven saying fuck you to the golden devils and their allies I think it would be pretty much guaranteed to result in failure unfortunately. Maybe @occipitallobe has a different view then me though!

Yan 4 - A journey up the mountain.
A journey up the mountain.

For any mortal the path up the mountain would be treacherous and fraught with dangers but Yan wasn't a mortal, no he had long ago left his mortalhood behind and for him the path was no more dangerous than walking on a well paved road, even less so considering one of his techniques made him so light on his feet that he didn't leave a single footstep were he walked and as the technique wasn't expansive in terms of Qi he could use it without restraint.

Yes, the path forward was very boring for Yan and as such it wasn't surprising that his mind was elsewhere, or more specifically he was pondering on the knowledge and insight he gained on his journey so far.

Like finding out that the way the golden devils treated their mortal papulation was batter then even the righteous powers treated theirs -which says something about the accuracy of the titles of demonic and righteous-, he fund that particular fact after speaking with a couple of mortals in the villages he passed on his way up the mountain.

Yan wasn't too surprised that he was wrong about this fact because before today his experience with cultivators was fighting the battle blood cannibals and devil bees, living with the golden devil and stories from his mortal village about cultivators that he never met and was half sure was mortal exaggerations.

And so Yan continued on his path up the mountain while pondering about how mortals live in different places and how different his life became after he started cultivating.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////

After two more days of trekking in the mountains Yan finely reached the Door Trade City, it is a marvelous sight the city itself is half craved into the mountain itself with great walls protecting the parts outside the mountain.

It was easy enough to get past the gate you only needed to declare that you were too enter the gate and you got ushered through the gate and given directions for the magical doorway.

Yan walked in the direction he was pointed to past various streets until he got into the first land mark in the way to the door against market place with hundreds of merchant mortal and cultivators both selling goods for the brave adventurers, at a premium of course.

Walking through the market and seeing the prices of certain things Yan chuckled to himself, he was smart enough to buy his supply's in his clan lands, he bought medicines, ropes and climbing gear, extra food, spare spirits stones, pills that will augment his combat strength, he even paid for some stories about the realm beyond the door and it dangers from fellow disciples in the clan that survived going through the door.

Ignoring the calls from various merchants Yan walked out of the other side of the market and up a stairway carved from the stone of the mountain into a huge fortified mansion where he signed in and was taken with other Qi condensation cultivators into a huge cave sealed off from the outside so that there would be only one way to get in and out from it.

In the cave there were hundreds of Qi condensation cultivators and between them there were foundation establishment cultivators keeping order and even one core formation cultivator.

as Yan was waiting for the door to open he wondered why the amount of cultivators waiting for entry to the door was so low, his research showed that in any time the door opens there are thousands of Qi condensation cultivators, in the end he could only conclude that the rumors about the possibilities of another Demon-Annihilating War were true and the amount of cultivators trying to risk their life in secret realms was lowered as they prepared for the war.

Yan continued waiting for three more hours in that time the cave field with a few more cultivators and at long last the door opened.

The door itself was a huge pillar of light that went from the floor to the ceiling, Yan raised from his seating place to stand in line, until after two minutes of waiting he entered the doorway and took his first look upon the hidden realm he was going to spend his time plundering for its treasures and it was beautiful.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

I decided to make another omake because Yan is entering a secret realm this turn.

also I couldn't imagine that there isn't a city close to the magical doorway both because of the economic value of the place and so the Qiguai Clan could ensure no one tries to leave without giving them their due, I imagine the city itself is mostly empty in the years the door isn't open and consists out of having a huge market for the cultivators that come to try their luck and a great deal of taverns for those rich (in mortal terms) cultivators.

Mograine 2 - A fatal condition, or a fateful one?
The Medical center of the city was vastly different from the one that I knew out in the land of my birth. Here, everything shone with cleanliness, and was freshly forged for use, while back home a taint of age had clung to everything within sight. Turning towards the window that overlooked the assessment fields, I could see the thousands of men and women barely out of their teens beginning the process of becoming cultivators. My eyes danced from one to another and every single one of them was a puzzle, for what would they choose to cleave to in time to come.

The doctor that ran this medical center was a Late Core Formation, that had chosen the Dao of Healing and it showed. Everywhere I looked and explored as I could, I could see the echos of such a Dao in this place, for it was his and his Dao infused everything with the concept of healing. I had overheard stories of him entering rooms filled of people gravely injury and healing them all with a mere flick of the hand. However, as impressive as such might be on the limited scale, the most impressive and validating story was a legend of him entering a mortal city and walking the streets. As the story goes, everywhere he walked injury and disease faded away as if it had never been consumed by the power of his healing aura, and when he left the city a week later, there was no disease or injury beyond mortal skill left within.

The door slid open, as a figure entered the room. Turning away from the window, and my musings of stories of the master of this place, I looked over at the one that had just entered. A smile grew upon my face as I looked upon the doctor that had been spending the most time trying to heal me. "According to all of our test, your body should be tearing itself apart. Yet somehow you are alive and well, for a generous use of the word. Could you please give us something of your heritage, that might allow us to figure something out." My smile widened slightly as she turned to pleading, to get information.

"I have already provided all I am willing to provide." Was all I said as I took a seat upon the bed, turning to face her directly.

Her face dropped into an expression of sadness and bleak acceptance, "Will you at least let one of our cultivators, aid you in rebuilding your Qi systems?" And there was the greatest sticking point, there was no way I was undoing the work that I had in the foothills, even the thought sickened me and yet without assistance I would fall ever further behind as I was paving new ground with my mutated bloodline.

"The divergence I forced my Qi systems to take was mandated by the mutation of the clan's bloodline. I permanently reject any offer of rebuilding my Qi systems to the standard order." My firm voice rang with an echo of metal as I spoke, shocking Olivia and myself for I had not drawn upon any power since my time here.

"Ok, that is it. By my authority as a Tertiary Master of the hospital, I am ordering you to accept cultivation assistance. Furthermore, you will abide by their orders, however -" she raised a finger forestalling my coming objections, "- they will be expected to take your input into consideration, for as much as it pains me to admit it, you are the current and only expect we have on your mutated version of our clan's bloodline."

Grumbling, I nodded my reluctant acceptance of her order. "Very well, then I assign myself as the cultivator in charge of making sure you are in control of your power." As my head jerked around to look at her face once more, I could see her lips drawn into a large smile and her eyes glittered with amusement.

Clapping her hands together, her face take on an evil cast as she leaned forward staring intently at me. "Now, Morgraine, tell me everything about your mutation that you know of. If you don't, I might become irritated and you don't want that to happen, now do you?" Even her voice echoed the evilness of her expression, a mixture of glee and pride, tied into some joy for me walking straight into her trap.

However, she had cleanly trapped me and as such I only had one option here and that was to explain the truth of the matter as much as I could, yet even so my heritage was unneeded and so could remain hidden, along with other information.

"I do not know, how my blood became so mutated. As I told you before, I woke up in great pain in the foothills and only barely managed to reach a town before dying. What I do know of my blood mutation is that it has something to do with other metals, when I reach inside I can taste eight flavors of metals. The eight flavors are gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, tin, iron and mercury. Beyond that, I have no real understanding of the powers or nature of the mutation." Was what I spoke, hiding the truth of what I knew and the origin of the mutation, along with my family.

"Hmm, still lying through your teeth, but at least I have an idea of what is going on with you." Fumed Olivia from where she was sitting, as a cold sweat began to appear on my body.

"So, what is wrong with me?" Trying to get my voice steady was a losing proposition that even I could tell and as such I let it waver and become filled with fear due to being caught in a lie.

"You almost certainly have a problem with your Dantian. Such issues crop up when one fails a tribulation or and more interesting when one has to rebuild their Qi systems out of whole cloth. Now hold still while I examine your cultivation base and your Dantian." Was all she said before a glow of energy wrapped around her hands and jumped into my body right above my stomach.

As the glow continued, her expression quickly shifted back and forth, without end, until several minutes later she released her power and slumped into her chair. "How in the name of heaven do you have nine Dantians or one that is split into nine parts? How are you surviving in this land? No wonder you had to rebuild your Qi systems. Ugh, this is going to take forever to make your body actually function." She screamed in frustration and confusion.

"Hold up, why would I have trouble surviving in this land?" I ask catching the most important question to me as she raged in confusion.

"Because, you unmitigated moron, the Qi concentration of this land is incredibly low. To the point where a normal Qi condensation cultivator has difficulty, growing their supply of Qi. You on the other hand require almost nine times the normal amount of QI to just live. The only reasons you could be alive is because your bloodline either makes you produce minor amounts of Qi or that you absorb and retain it with immense efficiency." She screamed, before taking several deep breaths and leaning back in the chair, with her eyes closed for several seconds before speaking again, "I apologize for my outburst, but your body should be consuming itself for Qi right now, yet it is not and your Dantian is also so far from normal that it almost seems more akin to a Spirit beast core in some way than a normal human Dantian. However, I do believe that I can make your alterations to your Qi systems permanent and cleaner. Although, and I can't believe I am going to say this, you are to do whatever you feel is correct to do with regards to your internal systems. I can tell that your rebuilding is the only thing keeping you alive, yet no one else would have ever thought of building in such a way. As for moving forward in cultivation ranks, you are effectively on your own as no one I am aware of could truly assist you." She finished with a sigh as she leaned back into her chair letting go of her frustration and anger once more, before it could build up again.

Blinking a bit to recover from the several rocks dropped during the conversation, "Can you please explain what is wrong with my Qi systems and Dantian in such a way that a person with no education in the ways of a cultivator can understand?" I asked as she seemed to recover and recenter herself.

"Yes and no, I can explain it but not in this room nor in this building. Give me several days and hopefully, I can acquire access to a visualization room for this purpose. Right now, just sit tight and do the maintenance that your Qi systems require and I will return when I have word back." The moment she was done speaking, she breezed out of the door and with a click locking it behind her.

Once more I was alone, and probably for the next few days. Welcome back boredom how I missed you and now I am going to have to waste time until something interesting happens.

--------
Something to buff Morgraine's fate and to introduce another character for future omakes on him

Good Seed update will be up later. In the midst of doing more house renos though, so probably once I get tired of that.

So was there anything within Corpse Eater's soul apeture in the end?

A few treasures at Core Formation level, mostly. Nothing special or worth mentioning.

@occipitallobe do you have to keep cultivating in order to not fall ranks or can you just halt trying to move upwards in rank.

You can tread water and remain at a certain rank, but you need to keep cultivating to tread water.

Question but can you call a tribulation mid battle and if so would it effect the people you're fighting to? Asking cause reading Nine Star Hegemony has given me a omake idea for the trial turn about using a Tribulation during it to both reach the next realm as well as kill my foes. You can, I suppose. If you want to kill enemies beyond your level or the like you'll need to take it as an Omake bonus, though. If you just want to kill a guy you could've murdered otherwise with lightning, I'm okay with it. Incredibly dangerous battle strategy, though.

Does Manual have a nickname like "Mortal-Protecting Heavenly Bandit" Huang Li?

He doesn't personally adopt one, though he'll be commonly called Old Gold or Old Devil outside the Clan.

Is there a limit on who Manuel will target with pranks?

His target set is incredibly limited. Essentially he could be a dick to Old Cannibal because he already had a magically binding agreement in place and the man wanted him dead - he couldn't antagonise him much more. Likewise, pranking his friends who won't take it badly is fine, but doing it to a junior of any kind might terrifying them too much, and doing it to someone else might damage a valuable diplomatic relationship.

What I'm reading from this is that we can expect incredible Manuel snark when he's fighting enemies that want to kill him and make his guts into garlands.

Magnus Pt. 7 - Home again home again, and I brought Booze, made some too

Magnus spent the better part of 2 years searching for interesting and possibly poisonous fruits and plant to create various wines with. His current favorite is made from the Fire Flower Cactus plant. This cactus as the name suggest has a flower whose petals burn on contact with the air. The burning petals actually have a high sugar content that attracts animals and insects for the plant to feast on, oh yeah, this plant is a 8th heaven stage carnivorous plant. The main portion of the cacti also had a wonderfully potent hallucinogenic liquid.

When the two were mixed together to make wine, it would create a wonderfully potent drink. The drink would not only get a person pleasantly warm, it would also provide mild loss of coordination and judgement, and ability to tell time or distance to the drinker. The fun part of it was that when spit out, it would light itself on fire and create a mist that caused hallucinations and dull reflexes.

Magnus brought about 10 barrels of this wine and offered half at his welcome home banquet. The next morning there were about 3 divorces, 6 castrations, 4 marriages, and dozens of "spars". Magnus's father banned this wine from being served again unless it was to political enemies.

After coming home after so long, Magnus decided to try making a longer term wine project. He mixed 100 year old Iron Blood Grapes, 200 year old Copper Skin Peaches, and 50 year old Spirit Grain to make the base of a new wine. The hope is that this mixture would strength the bloodline of the clan, or at least provide strong metal Qi similar enough to the clan's to speed up training. The strength of the fruit in this mix required the mix to ferment for at least 20 years before the results could be seen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@occipitallobe
Another short because I don't have free time right now:cry:, new wine is how my seed will help the clan next turn, if good seed rolls happen in my favor.
So anyone interested, my guy is will help on the puppet project I suggested before, but no time to take the lead anymore

@occipitallobe So to clarify things for me. Can a cultivator reduce their resource strain to remain where they are without moving upwards in power?

Yes.

There is still a use of resources, though. But bear in mind ~99% of Clan cultivators are Qi Condensation. Many will stall out at a given stage, and only buy enough resources to keep themselves at whatever level they're at, while they complete missions to help their family/children/etc. It's very common for a cultivator to hit a bad bottleneck, and facing the alternatives of 'incredibly difficult, dangerous work to get enough resources to advance' and 'work less, have kids, settle down, give them a good life' pick the latter.

@occipitallobe do omakes referring to a good seed from the perspective or the actions from another count?

Also how much effect can a Core Foundation's Dao produce?

100%!

If you want to be like 'here's an elder growling about something they did wrong, or a mission report written by someone else, or an evil cultivator having their plans shot down', feel free. Let your absolute guide in omake be 'if you want to write it, I will reward you for it'.

If you write something that I (in the extremely unlikely case) am against having in the thread, I'll reward you the first time anyway and then say 'hey, actually while your omake is rewarded, there's [thing] I won't reward in future'.

edit: started doing the Good Seed report, realised I could roll every dice at once in a spreadsheet with RAND. Did this, felt empty inside. Went back to rolling one by one. Seriously considering getting my fiancee to tell me where her D&D dice are so I can give you all bespoke artisan rolls.
