The common theme between a Preed and Bombu? They're simple Pirate pest control that they often fill hallways with.
I see... I'm somewhat familiar with chemical weaponry, kinda have to if you're studying the first world war, so I feel I have to ask: How does their deployment/effectiveness change for urban areas? Not just hallways, but city fighting. House-to-house, street-to-street, Stalingrad stuff.

They're around half a meter in size and have a practically unlimited supply of gas. They're released as a swarm over population centers, their cybernetics allowing them to move in patterns for maximum saturation. They're described as aggressive in their log entry, though they only float on a set path in game.

The original version, the Puffer from Prime 1's concept art had it like this:

So basically Bullshit-Smart-shells with bullshit amounts of gas/electricity/whatever.
Time for the PRT to raid the local military base for NBC gear.

Bakuda is getting ideas.
Assuming she isn't Piratenapped.
You're currently fighting outside the one they built. There's more than one reason the Pirates tried to bomb the building.
Off the top of my head I can think of the following:
1.) Neutralization of Samus.
2.) Neutralization of pretty much all the heroes in Brockton Bay.
3.) Neutralization of Fed weapons and armor before they spread.
3.5.) Passing off said neutralization as an "accident", souring people on Fed tech.

I repeat, Bakuda is getting ideas. They've clearly got Bonesaw and/or Blasto working for them, among the other Tinkers they've abducted to make weaponry, so Bakuda being chained to a table and being told 'work faster or you'll get eaten' does not preclude her shard getting inspired by other parahuman powers.

No, Bonesaw does not exist.
Whoops, you're absolutely right. I forgot:
"HEY!" A voice interrupts her, drawing everyone's attention.

A blonde girl, about Missy's age, was pointing a finger at Victoria. "You shouldn't swear!"

Victoria to her credit did not reply, and instead just stared blankly at the girl.

"You're a hero so you shouldn't swear!"

A woman the girl was with suddenly grabbed the girl, apologizing profusely to Victoria, though she was calling her Glory Girl. The Bus stopped and the woman practically dragged the girl off the bus, her face completely red. "Riley what on earth were you thinking-"
Best Girl didn't get a visit from Jack Slash before the S9 bit it.
Although why their family decided to move to Brockton Bay is still a mystery...
Anyway, its most likely Blasto the Space Pirates are using then.

Still wondering why gas works like lava, or effects Samus in her Chozo power suit that I assume has better than normal NBC protection. Hot air...?

Darn pirates schizotech!

Since this is vaguely related, her's gameplay of Metroid Prime: Federation Force.

And the Federation's attempts at reverse engineering Samus's suit:
Project Golem
Samus Aran's solitary war on the Space Pirates terminated their Phazon experiments on Metroids. But the galaxy is not at peace. Recognizing a need to combat the Space Pirate menace, the Galactic Federation launched Project Golem, a top-secret program to develop mechanized battle armor based on the technology in Samus Aran's Power Suit. The most elite members of the galactic marines were chosen, and put through intense training to form what would become the Federation Force.

Just getting back after a few days catching up on other things. Glad I missed that little internal affairs issue. The pokemon debate though?
My two comments are thus:
1. Shuckle is a ridiculous pokemon in any game not of the mystery dungeon games. So hard to make worth it, but so worth it when it is ready. Mystery Dungeon Shuckle sucks.
2. Why no Shedinja on Taylor's team? Their wonder guard outright nopes all of Leviathan(and possibly Simurgh)'s movesets, and assuming that Behemoth's moves don't count as fire type via burning death it would also hard-counter him.

I kind of wish I missed it too.

That's a very good point, you're right. Shedinja is a bug type, but it's also a dead bug. So I'm not sure how Taylor's power works with that, but probably should be there. However Behemoth manipulates of energy. Heat is energy. When you have enough heat, stuff will melt, boil, combust, you get the idea. A common example of this is lightning strikes. They start fires both in houses, in forests, and in plains. Behemoth's beams and Kill-aura are alot more intense than 'mere' lighting. IIRC, he's described as turning people to ash or charred corpses. So he could do damage to Shedinja. And probably kill the little guy. I do agree on it being immune to Leviathan and Simurgh. If that hole on his back does indeed steal someone's soul upon looking into it, we'd finally learn if an Endbringer has a soul. :V

Warning: Warning
You might want to delete that. IB didn't like it when people question the underlying logic behind the direction he's taking the quest, and got very emotional before declaring that that kind of 'versus debate' 'disruption' was no longer allowed.
warning Passive Aggressive sniping is bad. Telling posters what they can and cannot post because you're mad about something a totally different post said is also bad. Don't do it again.

ImmortalsBlade and I talked about this already, why you gotta drag this up again?
1. I at the time thought IB was indirectly responding to a post I had made. Turns out, he wasn't.
2. You're a mod, shouldn't you be able to see the post rkyeun deleted?
3. I already outlined to IB himself why I thought he was frustrated I.E. emotional, in his statements.
4. I'm not 'mad'. Not now, not then. I merely suggested to someone who made a post similar to mine, given IB appeared to have made a generalizing 'this is not allowed' statement and was upset by the post, it would be best before the QM came back, saw it, and got further upset. As stated, I did not know IB wasn't referring to that topic. Your presumption of motive is way off.
5. The post in question was vague enough that @rkyeun couldn't tell if the topic was banned or not.
6. IB even said that exact same thing to me:
As I've already politely asked, please stop with the passive aggressive sniping, and do not tell other players what they can and cannot post.
We then realize we'd both been misunderstanding each other and mutually apologized.
I am not getting emotional, I think there's a bit of a miscommunication. I do not have a personal beef with someone unless they take the time to deliberately insult my work and my person. Apologies if it came across that way.
There seems to be alot of that between the two of us, unfortunately.
*sigh* I'm sorry too. Sorry we had to go through all this. Well, hopefully we've gotten to the same page now, and we can put this spot of ugliness behind us.
This was all an unfortunate miscommunication between me and ImmortalsBlade that's been resolved.
So I have to ask you, for what purpose did you feel the need to give a warning to a resolved problem?

I would just like to point out that technically, Tekomander could have infracted you further for challenging his actions in this thread, as per Rule 5. There is a time and a place to debate mod actions; this thread is not it.

You move before anyone can react, a bullet racing towards the mass of monsters charging towards your friends. Pavement explodes under your footfalls, torn apart by the sheer force of your movement.

The line draws closer, snarling maws bared and limbs outstretched. The Wretches look like skinned humans, bone armour emerging from their flesh. Dazhbog's brutes with eyeless skulls. The essence of humanity stripped from them by callous evil. Yet you can still see the human they once were inside them, perhaps your own latent psychic powers letting you see a glimpse. Their hopes, their dreams. The people they loved, the things they feared, it clung to these creations like a tattered shroud no matter how hard the pirates had tried to tear it away. Your stomach churns slightly at what the pirates had done...

The first wretch you meet explodes, flying apart as you pass through them without a hint of resistance. Another's skull is pulverized as you reach out, grasping its head in your grip.

A wordless scream of animalistic rage erupts from your throat as you tackle a Dazhbog in the gut, sending it flying as you rocket into the sky. Your legs kick in the air as gravity reasserts itself. You twist with a fire of jets, plunging towards the burning demons lurking behind the horde of abominations.

You don't even move out of the way when a burning claw shoots out to meet you.

1D100+20 => 21 #>30 Samus attacks Svarog group 1
1D3 => 3 #How many hit?
1D80*3+30 => 33 #Damage
1D100+20 => 102 #>30 Samus Judo throws a monster?
1D6 => 5 #Hits she gets in
1D100-20 => 76 #>80 Svarog Group 1 attacks!
1D100 => 54 #>80 Svarog Group 2 attacks!
1D100+20 => 90 #>30 Samus attacks Svarog Group 2!
1D6 => 3 #Hits she gets in
1D100-20 => 41 #>80 Svarog regroup attacks!
1D100+20 => 36 #>30 Samus attacks Svarog regroup!
1D6 => 5 #Hits she gets in

You twist just as it reaches you, the claw brushing past you as the air explodes into flames. A small hand reach out, wrapping around the limb and drawing it close. Then with a roar of fury you wrench the Svarog off it's feet, heedless of the warnings screaming in your ear. Jets spark than explode in a torrent of flames as you twist in the air, the abomination pulled forward by your titanic strength. Many tons of twisted flesh soars through the air at surprising velocity, smashing into the ranks of its smaller brethren. It bounces, rolls and skids through the ranks crushing wretches and Dazhbog's under its burning form. Their cries become those of agony as the heat doesn't kill them, and they try to drag themselves forward towards your friends with broken limbs and rent flesh. You can't watch long, stepping to the side as another claw smashes into the pavement beside you, a spray of molten asphalt exploding into the air.

You pirouette, facing the beast with arm cannon raised. Two charged shots impact it's chest. One sends it back, it's flesh splitting and breaking apart as rivulets of lava pour from the wounds. The next causes it to violently rupture, showering everything in glowing liquid.

You kick backwards just in time to avoid another Svarog charge through it's companion, scattering its remains as it tries to wrap its jaws around you. You fire two charged shots as you speed backwards, one flying straight down its throat. It's chest explodes outward in a blast of lava before the next strikes its head, obliterating it.

"Guys?" Aegis says over the comms, the faint roar of his weapon filtering through. "I think Samus was holding back before."

You turn in the air, firing another shot at the one you had thrown as it just now scrambles to its feet, missiles and energy bolts raining down around it from your friends. One hits its target but you're forced to hold on finishing it off as another claw reaches out to swipe at you, the three other beasts charging over their companions corpses, whatever solid parts were left pulverized beneath their feet.

Limbs and flames dance at your heels as you just keep out of their reach. Your arm cannon shoots up, a purple sphere growing on its end. The lead most Svarog explodes in a shower of flames, before its corpse is backhanded away by its companion that was charging forward right behind it. One shot strikes its face as you land, your feet sinking into the nearly liquid pavement. But a chill up your spine sends you into the air as a pair of jaws and a torrent of fire closes around the spot you were just standing. The one you didn't finished off joining the fray!

Yet as you fly into the air you aim downwards as the two beasts leap into the air after you, reaching for you with their burning claws. Two charge shots undulate through the air, striking them both. Electricity dances across their forms before they violently explode, limbs flying off. You transform into your morphball in mid air, gravity reasserting itself to send you straight downwards. Your smaller form easily slips past the broken limbs as they pirouette through the air, and before you even reach the ground you've transformed back, dashing away as two more limbs slam into the ground, sending out a shockwave of flame.

You leap forward, two armoured boots slamming into a Dazhbog's chest that had wandered too close to the fight. You kick off it with enough force to create a sonic boom, sending the creature flying backwards into another group of wretches.

You twist in the air, a perfect backflip. At the apex of your leap, while upside down you level your arm cannon at the charging behemoth and fire!

It explodes, it's forward momentum carrying it's remains towards you like a river of magma. You complete your ascent, landing on the ground before you kick off the melted pavement, a crack of air following your movement. The sheer force of your leap carries you towards the water. Before you turn though your comms burst to life.

"I'm seeing weapons fire where the soldiers are! They must be under attack!" Dragon calls from somewhere above you.

"We're still dealing with these things! Huntress turn around and hel- SAMUS NO DON'T GO OFF ON YOUR OW-!" Mouse Protector screams but it's too late, you've already rocketed into the sky, landing on a rusted boat with an explosion of water. The metal groans as you hit it with the force of a bomb, the boat's end sinking into the waves before you explode off it, leapfrogging between them as you head towards the shore the military was stationed at.

"Damnit Huntress, this is not the time to be reckless!" Dragon reprimands you over the comms, but you only spare a glance towards the sky in retort. You could see Dragon dancing between the clouds, weapons fire lighting up the sky like lightning, punctuated by the thunder of explosions. Burning hulks fell from the sky, fiery meteors that crashed into the ground in a plume of fire and smoke. Your eye is drawn to the city, to the flames and smoke emerging from deep within it. Memories bubble to the surface when you notice the disturbing silence, the lack of sirens of any description. Well the silence of artificial sounds, for the sounds of screams and shouting easily reaches you even at this distance, thankfully not punctuated by any form of weapons fire from inside the city.

You perform one more leap, fully sinking a boat with the force of your ascent and finally you're given a look at what happened to the soldiers. Blood soaked the sand, painting dark splotches in sharp contrast to the glowing craters scattered throughout it. The sounds of animals fighting, ripping at flesh, dying screaming reaches your ears next. As well as a buzzing, an incessant buzzing of many insectile wings. Next you notice pools of smoking liquid, tanks and vehicles melted straight through. Men who died in agony as their lungs were eaten through by the acrid smoke that filled the beach, falling next to the melted remains of their comrades. Other's, those that were intact anyways, sported chemical burns that made it hard to tell what the men who died even looked like. Those died the closest to the deadly smoke, still nowhere close to the deadly acid that had caused it.

Then you see them. Creatures from far outside Federation space. Members of a conquering empire from far outside any Federation controlled Galaxy that had found close companions in the Space Pirates.

Kihunters! 12 in total! They were engaged with the sea-creatures on the beach, but they were winning. You were falling towards one now, who had separated from the pack.

Luckily, the Svarog's had released enough materials to completely replenish your missiles and energy back to full.

  • Information on Space Pirate forces and technology.

    • Morphology: Kihunter
      Extra-galactic aggressor species. Deadly acid ignores shields, slowing movement.

      While they bare a similarity to Arthropods found on many worlds these are only superficial for Kihunters are truly alien. Hailing from a far-off galaxy the Kihunters arrived in Federation space with the intent to conquer. Quickly finding common allies in the Space Pirates they've joined pirate ranks as their own unique subset of the pirates hierarchy. Any information learned by the Kihunters is passed down genetically, allowing them to retain skills learned by their forbearers. This has led to Kihunters proving indispensable in providing equipment and technology towards Pirate interests, as well as maintaining it. More relevant Zero's, Kihunter young, can quickly metamorphose into adults and attack with frightening effectiveness, retaining all the combat skills and knowledge of their parent as well as information about potential foes.

      Their claws and beaks prove deadly even against shielded foes, but their main strength is their acid projectiles. Its unique properties ignore shields and while most of the damage would be negated by the shield itself the projectile clings to the target, slowing movement temporarily. Kihunters can also leap onto their target and detonate, attempting to take their enemy with them in an explosion of volatile acid.

      Highly adaptable Kihunters who've lived long enough become even deadlier opponents, often taking on unique properties due to their environment. However, their main weakness is that their wings only possess limited shielding, allowing foes to easily remove them. A kihunter on the ground is a far easier foe to deal with then one in the air.

      This variant of Kihunter is highly vulnerable to missiles.

      Special Note: They are not Arthropods.
