Holy shit that's badass.

Indeed but they are also both the complete opposite of each other. C'tan are being powerful beyond measure but with a very light grasp, but growing, on what the universe is as a whole, still each one of them have enough raw power to be considered a god. Chozo are weaker but know everything about the universe, it's stated multiple time they have nothing left to discover, so will a single chozo is not a god a group of chozo, and the chozo species as a whole, can be considered gods.

As far as I'm aware (and please correct me if I'm not), it's kinda similar the difference between Ganondorf and the Sages if you're familiar with Zelda. Ganondorf is an absolute powerhouse but his major focus is power, how to get it, what threatens it, etc. The Sages know their element intimately and brought together they have the power to match, even if independently they're considerably less strong.

Samus's suit, as you might then imagine, was likely a collaborative effort among the Chozo. (The Chozo Chief Engineer of Shielding, the Chozo Chief Engineer of Energy Weapons, the Chozo Chief Engineer of Ballistic Weapons, the Chozo Chief Programmer of Diagnostics and Understanding [Scan Visor], etc.)

Samus too, the only thing truly human in here is what she look like, her interior is a chozo biology molded inside a human skin, even how she see the world and think is more chozo than human, since chozo are here family.

Samus is a much close to us than any savage children, they look like human but fundamentally they are not (for different reason and it is a caricature way of looking at things but accurate)

So, am I correct in assuming that plan power forward is currently winning?
For the record, posting in a thread that hasn't seen activity in a long while is called a necro. It's a mildly asshole-ish thing to do since it makes everyone who has the thread on watch receive an alert and makes them think that there's new content.

I'm fairly confident that it's not against the rules but do try to pay attention to the date of the last post in the future please. You're new so it understandable, but these things tend to get a lot of hate.

Please read the rules. Necroing is not a faux pas on SV.

Information: Official Staff Communication
official staff communication Okay, okay. That will do.

As a matter of policy, SV doesn't care about necros. We would like it if everyone just got over them entirely. It's not a big deal to get an alert in an old thread. At the same time, politely telling a new user that people do find it annoying is not a huge deal either ... but don't bother doing it. Particularly because it results in this exact conversation playing out again and again and again ...

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

Quest is still going to be on hiatus for a bit. But uh... No promises but expect something after September.

I LOVE it...but thats not Prime. That is classic 2-D Metroid, not intense FPS. Feels kinda disappointing after what they did with Other M. Well that, and like its deliberately stepping on AM2R.

Metroid 2D is a remake of metroid 2, and metroidprime 4 will be out WELL after 2017.

So don't dance just yet it will be a long ride.

The fact that they're making a Metroid 2 remake is most likely the reason they sent a C&D at AMR2 in the first place.
I know. Still doesn't justify their response in any sort of moral or financial sense. AM2R is over a decade old with very open development. They could have intervened the second a redo of Met 2 was okayed. Instead, they waited for it to get released before slamming down the copyright and being extremely bitchy about threatening to pursue further action. It's not like the fan-game could have even hoped to impact a Juggernaut like Nintendo, and by all reviews and experiences AM2R is only a credit to the franchise.

Edit: And it's really not like this is the only time they've done something like this. Had a look at their website on company policy for emulators. They flat out said that all their games are protected by copyright laws (true) and any use of emulators, no matter how old, or out of production the game, is a criminal offence Nintendo will seriously pursue. Of course, the reality isn't like that, but it's pretty threatening reading. They make great content, but they're total control freaks.

Trademark law is kind of shitty like that. Nintendo has to protect its trademarks, or else it loses them, and Metroid goes the way of Dumpster and Kleenex, with anyone able to slap the name on anything shitty enough to not violate the exact copyright but close enough to match the genre and then start selling it.

That's the thing though. They could have chosen other options, and as a completely free fan-game, AM2R had those options. The first and easiest is request the content creator cease and desist when it started over a decade ago, or more recently whenever they seriously considered revamping Metroid 2. Beyond that, they could have pulled a Sega and hired the guy, and started selling the game themselves, doctorm64 even stated he'd have done it in a heartbeat in an interview. That Nintendo needs to protect their interests is well and good, and something I'd approve of for anything else. AM2R pulls pretty heavily from everything Metroid after all, including pretty much all of the game mechanics. Except AM2R is free, and made as a tribute to the Metroid franchise and Nintendo as a company, and very clearly sources them, and again, has been in open development for over a decade. If Nintendo are being forced by dumb and obsolete copyright, they've at least had plenty of opportunities to not be assholes about it, and skipped every one. I'm still going to buy the games and appreciate their programmers efforts, but that's not going to stop me being salty at management anytime soon.

That metroid 2 remake scares me a bit. The combat system seems like the Other M style, with autoaim and QTE's.

Edit: never mind, another video showed that it's not autoaim. Not sure about the QTE's, but the melee counterattack seems easily exploitable. Instant defence against melee enemies (aka almost every enemy) and a couple seconds for free attacks will probably change the combat style a lot.

Also, 3 of the first 10 Google results for Metroid 2 Remake are AM2R.

The QTEs are just the melee counters for the metroids.
