[X] Plan Power Forward
Keep in mind that Tinker-tech in this quest is a hodgepodge held together by duct tape, chewing gum, and multidimensional bullshit provided by the Shards.

The Space Pirates have studied multidimensional bullshit enough to actually create proper multidimensional technology -the Warp Blades being an example. No reason we can't do the same.

Fair enough and hope that is an option later on.

Curious do people think the Space Pirates are aware of the enities at this point and time?

I can see wanting to enslave one being their end goal or make one themselves by studying the corpse Cualdron has.

Potential for behavioral change in Shard Worm Alpha-6764AC "Zion": Negligible. WARNING: Extreme risk of "Scion" avatar interference during retrieval mission. Mission must be completed before Avatar's arrival. Expect complete loss of all personnel if not.

The numerical designation is somewhat disturbing. Note that Leviathan was given the designation "Super-Heavy Shard Combat Projection 002". The fact that Zion has a more ambiguous numerical designation suggests the Space Pirates have a unique way of classifying Shard Worms that doesn't necessarily correspond to order encountered, which would itself suggest the Space Pirates know there are others out there.

[x] Plan Long Term Power
-[X] Golem Exo-Suit
-[X] GM-4332 "Warhound" Light Assault Bot
-[X] FG II-GRAHAM
--[X] Do not eat this till after the pirates blow it up.
-[X] Galactic Federation Power Suit X 20
-[X] GP-08 Bipedal Police Mech "Robbie"
-[X] Hunter-Class Gunship

Basically the same as Power Forward, except we don't eat the FG II-Graham for the diffusion beam yet because sooner or later the pirates will blow it up for us (just like they will for everything else) and when that happens we can get the diffusion beam from the salvage. Until that happens, we have a powerful robotic ally to help us.

Only problem is that it takes destroying 3-4 of them in the game to get the Diffusion Beam; we might not get everything we need from the wreckage is we only have the wreckage of one. @ImmortalsBlade?

Eh, let's just make sure we put it on the front lines of a battle they are unlikely to nuke, sacrificing it so that it clears a way for us and gives us a new weapon. It is a risk, but I feel it is one worth taking. Just my vote though.

This has been a fantastic nigh-500-page binge. As a big fan of Metroid and someone who's done a single pass through Worm, I've really enjoyed reading it. As a tactics guy, the decisions have been interesting to follow.

I am, however, decidedly less good at grand strategy, which seems to be more of what's been going on lately. Strange that this hasn't seen a lot of activity in the last fortnight though.

*snaps fingers* Ah, here I thought there was an update.

...good interesting, or bad interesting?

Sorry for the disappointment.

Bit of both on the interesting front. Some brilliant moves (enhancing the Wards, freeing Dragon) and some missed opportunities (Hugging Samus instead of the "you are not alone" bit someone did a beautiful write-in of is the one that immediately comes to mind). Not bad. Feels like a decent position to be in.

*shrugs* At least a quarter of the fun is talking with others so I can't complain as long as it's not outright necromancy. Yes, I know necros are allowed on SV. I freely admit I still don't like them.

....I think I wrote that one.

It's around two weeks and as I recall the line where necromancy gets frowned upon is four, but that varies from place to place.

I didn't keep track of who it was, just that it seemed much more on-target than "hugs fix everything".

I just realized something potentially important. What's to stop one of the newcomers, particularly the humans or cadets, from triggering as well? I figure some of them would be immune, such as the psychic one, but the others?

This could be either awesome or terrifying.

Depends. Do they have shards?

If I remember correctly Shards can and do select their hosts in advance, though the trigger event is what activates the powers.

Remember, the actual physical Shards are actually hiding in parallel universes. All anyone - really Samus - can detect from the other end are multidimensional portals in a person's head.

It doesn't come up in canon, but it's possible the Entities instituted a "only attach to humans" rule, though that doesn't explain Dragon. Also, the presence of Space Pirates and Metroids change the situation considerably.

No, constant connection after the Trigger Event IIRC.

Right, what I meant, sorry for wording that poorly.

. . .

Okay, that's a relief/disappointment if that's the case. Although what happens if a potential host dies before they can trigger?

Not quite here. The closest thing to a Chozo I can think of at their peak is a Transcendent C'tan. I'll let the 40k fans explain what that is to anyone curious.

As a whole, they can go toe-to-toe with the strongest of Greater Daemons (whom are fully capable of razing all life on a planet by themselves without breaking a sweat) and may be able to fight the Chaos Gods on equal footing.

For an example, the C'tan called the Nightbringer? Responsible for putting the concept of fearing death in all mortal races.

Holy shit that's badass.
