Nope, the creature it's based on is a mother Goo from Grey Goo.

Here it is very much the same, though smaller. It's a literal Grey Goo nanomachine swarm.
But does this Grey Goo swarm like hugs?

Well, their combat platform goes for the "All the missiles" approach to combat. They are also rather likely to scream "BURN HERETICS!"

To elaborate they are a collection of AI warrior monks who worship the Chozo, whose fortress-monastery (the combat platform) is one of the smaller monasteries they have.
Wait, so the single robot form there is actually host to a number of AIs? So, like, each robot platform is basically a superior version of a Geth platform (from Mass Effect)?

No GOLEM's are equipped, though the transport is capable of supporting them. This is due to the fact the ship is slated entirely for training purposes, hence why most of them are Cadets. Yes this does mean many of them are around Samus's age. Also some who're very much not due to their species.
Time for whacky interspecies teenage drama! :D

They're a sapient light being, the shards are actually the Federation power suit and one of the few ways they can interact with organic beings! Their specialty is lasers. All the lasers.
...That's amazing and I love it.

Seriously, major props on all this hard work, @ImmortalsBlade . I love the worldbuilding going into the Federation here.

All the others are officers of some caliber and can handle themselves, Rundas however is a cadet and is likely to be on his own. Let's help him.

as well. I want my wacky hijinks, and the cadets are the ones who'll react the most to Earth Bet and its culture.

We still need to make sure T'Taco survives. The idea of an alien fox that I can have a pleasant conversation with is too good to let him die.

I think you need to bold your vote in order for the automated system to count it.

I want them all to live, but if I have to pick only one survivor it'll be the guy with ice attacks, given this planet's Metroid infestation.

Just saying, but is anyone else worried about Simmie trying to pull a Mother Brain and unleashing the metroids as their queen? If the smart omegas arent created by the fact that they ate her and absorbed her power, of course. If so, Simurgh-core could be a power source as powerful as the phazon-feast that birthed Metroid Prime(probably not that powerful, but still far stronger than anything else possibly edible in-setting), and could create something of similarly monstrous nature.

As your eyes flick over the information you make your decision. Tapping a key you extend out the three spare seats, causing your companions to all look at them then at you.

"Strap in. Battery, Glory Girl since you will not take any seats please magnetically lock your suits to the floor."

"Uuuh, why?" Battery asks, trying to peer over your shoulder at the displays in front of you.

"Because I'm about to redirect power from the inertia dampeners to the shields."

"Okay, what does that-OOOF!" Shielder begins before Glory Girl practically body slams him into one of the seats as Battery grabs Nightingale and shoves her into the seat directly beside her. Vista only paused for a second before diving for a seat as Battery and Glory Girl throw themselves onto the ground, a whirring noise telling you they had locked themselves to the floor of the ship.

"Ugh, what was that for! WhaOHMYGOOOOOOODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" Shielder starts screaming as he's slammed back into his seat as your ship accelerates, warnings screaming in your ears making your heart pump faster.

"What's that noise?!" Nightingale yells, as Vista, Glory Girl and Battery start swearing profusely, Vista sounding like she was on the edge of tears with Glory Girl not too far away.

"Missile warnings!" You respond as you violently serve your ship, banking so hard that any other vessel would have been torn in half. "They can't lock on so they're just filling the air with as many as they can!"

"AAAAAAAAH WHAT?! TURN AROUND!! WHY ARE WE FLYING TOWARDS IT!? WE CAN'T DODGE THEM!!" Shielder screams as explosions begin to pepper the air around you, filling the air with deadly blossoms of superheated plasma and molten shrapnel.

"Not on your life!!" You happily retort as your ships engines fire, burning a green streak across the sky as you shoot off towards the sky, letting out a joyful "WOOOOOOOHOOOHOOOOOOOOO!" As Shielder returns to screaming his head off.

You weren't concerned about the doubts to your piloting skills. Even Dragon was surprised when you were attaching the ship grapple beam and you talked about the changes you wanted to make to her hull. You didn't like to view your changes to the base Chozo ship as anything amazing, you didn't have the resources to customize it to your taste even if Armsmaster and Dragon seemed to heap praises on your work. No, what had surprised Dragon wasn't that you could design ships, even Chozo ships, but that you breathed spacecraft. Everything from their design, to being able to pilot them. All stemming from one thing when you thought about it.

You were born human, so you couldn't fly like the Chozo of old did. But when you were in the pilot's seat it became a part of you, your wings finally unfurled and you soared.

You danced through the air, a ballet of dodges, sudden dives, and feints as the world itself turned itself against you. Fire and shrapnel lapped at your heels, hurricane force winds pulled at your hair as lightning and meteors clawed at your metal dress. Yet still, you danced through the danger, your soul alight with the music in your heart. Nothing would take the joy of flight from you. Even the many ATC's between you and the crash site far below you.

"We'll need to thin out those ATC's before we can land." Dragon speaks into your ear as you throw your ship to the side as a flash of light announced the sudden appearance of a meteor out of thin air. "Deactivating missile jamming."

You spin your ship around, glad your rather frightened comrades couldn't see the predatory grin on your face.

Dragon knew you too well.

Your ship dives, past the meteors crashing to earth and straight into the buzzing hornet's nest of ATC's. Dozens of markers appear on screen, missiles tracking your ship. You can only imagine the Pirates surprise at how you seemed to be flying right into an obvious deathtrap, none of them anticipating your actual plan.

Some ATC's take potshots at you but their weapons were designed for ground targets, meaning you could easily evade the energy bolts at the speed you were traveling at. You also catch your first glimpse of the crashed transport. It seemed to have plowed into the ground at high speed and flipped over onto its back, one of the wings were completely ripped off and left as a churned up wreck beside the craft. An energy shield seemed to have been projected around it and you can see figures trading fire with space pirates from inside it, or using the wing as cover.

Then you pull the nose of your craft up, milliseconds before it hits the ground and angle it directly to the first group of ATC's you see. You keep your speed up but the sudden turn allowed the missiles to close in until they were hot on your heels, dozens of streaks of light following your every movement. Some of the ATC's panic, trying to avoid crashing into you and fly wildly out of your path letting you easily fly right into the midst of them.

"Activating Jammers."

The missiles behind you suddenly veer off, their sensors confused by the jumble of information being fed to them. In the midst of the ATC's this confusion proved fatal as the missiles either crashed into their own forces or detonated prematurely as their sensors were tricked into believing they were near their target. The ATC's either buckled, blew apart as molten shrapnel tore through them or outright melted from the heat before their fuel gel cooked off. Pirates were either thrown from their ATC's (usually in various states of dismemberment) or leaped from their craft in a hope their dash-jet systems would save them. One unlucky survivor hit your ship and disintegrated violently from the sheer force.

You pull the nose of your ship up, the thrusters on the bottom of your ship firing at full to slow your momentum before you crash into an ATC. Before gravity has a chance to reassert itself you fire the main engines to send you rocketing up into the sky out of range of the remaining ATC's.

Of course, that was a problem, there were still remaining ATC's.

You let Dragon take full control while flipping yourself over your seat, letting momentum carry you into the elevator shaft while Dragon sighs in your ear, "We're going to have a talk about these kinds of plans when you get back."

Aww.

"Samus?! What the hell are you doing?!" Battery yells, probably very aware you aren't flying the ship anymore.

"Providing anti-air support!" You cheerfully reply as the elevator shaft closes and the hatch above you opens, the wind howling all around you as you're sucked out of your ship and sent into free fall.

Holding your arms to your sides you turn into an orange missile heading straight towards the ground. The wind is strong enough to buffet you around but it was the lightning flashing all around you that was most concerning. You watch an ATC explode as a bolt of lightning strikes it, sending flaming chunks of metal and more than a few bits of flesh careening through the air. You ignore all of it, focusing on your targets. One ATC flies into view and you throw out an arm to attach yourself to it with a grapple beam. You feel yourself violently yanked, your arm feeling like it'll be ripped out of its socket as the grapple beam holds fast. Reeling yourself in one of the hatches opens and a trooper leans out to fire at you but he's immediately struck in the chest by an ice beam shot. In an instant, a layer of ice forms around it as the violence of the shot sends it flying off the ship, before its slower momentum causes the ATC to crash into and shatter the Pirate popsicle.

You throw out a hand and catch the edge of the opened hatch, snapping off a charged shot straight into the internals. It thankfully catches the pirates inside, freezing them solid and coating the inside with frost. The ATC you're on slows and you pull yourself up to kick off back into space, switching to your Wave Beam to fire a quick succession of shots into the heat vent. The ATC erupts into flames, its flaming wreckage spiraling down to earth.

You twist in the air, barely avoiding another trio of shots from another ATC that exploded shortly after by another bolt of lightning as the storm grew worse and worse by the second. You need to get to the ground.

So you throw out your hand again, the blue beam tethering itself to an ATC's hull. A flick of your wrist send you straight towards it, a charge shot building. You fire off it and several more uncharged shots just as you close in, electricity crackling across the ATC's surface as your feet skid across its hull before locking into place. The engines of the ATC sputter and die as its systems try to reboot, and gravity takes its inevitable hold. You can hear pirates banging on the hull, desperately trying to force the hatches open as you surf the tumbling ATC. It doesn't take you long to reach the ground right into a squad of Pirate Troopers, yet before the ATC plows into the ground and explodes you deactivate the Grapple Beam and activate your Power Grip, throwing all your strength to launch yourself away. You switch to your ice beam in mid-air, firing on the scrambling militia and troopers. While slow each shot is devastatingly powerful, and militia practically explode into frozen chunks when hit. Normal troopers simply freeze, only the armoured ones able to resist the cold with their beam resistant armour.

Your feet hit the ground and you fall into a roll, coming up in a crouch position just as you fire off a salvo of missiles at the frozen troopers and armoured pirates. The armoured troopers stagger, before returning fire, failing to notice rather large beam of freezing energy slammed into them, before a Phrygisian smashed through them.

He stood as tall as a Pirate, his blue carapace resembling armour instead of his own flesh. His hands were odd, they were five fingered yet the middle one was fused in a solid spike. He was clad in plates of Federation armour, though you suspect they were mostly there for life-support than actual protective qualities. You knew that underneath the solid Federation armour covering his head the Phrygisian lacked any obvious facial features, his head a smooth shell that occasionally shifted colours.

"Hey nice entrance, you the reinforcements?" He asks you in a rumbling voice before sprinting towards another group of militia that had popped up. He holds up a hand to send snaking waves of ice towards the pirates. As soon as they touch the pirates it freezes them solid.

"Yeah, names Samus." You answer as you leap over him, firing off another salvo of missiles into the frozen pirates. "We need to take out those AA guns to evacuate your wounded."

"Rundas, already heading straight for it." He replies as a blade of ice forms. A blast of ice at his feet sends him into the air before crashing to the earth in an explosion of frozen spikes right in the midst of another group of pirates. Those pirates not killed Rundas slashes through them, the ice somehow as effective as an energy blade. "Think you can keep up?"

Ohohoho, really!? You slide underneath Rundas's legs, firing off a charged ice beam shot directly into the face of a militia pirate that had run up behind him. You snap off more shots before charging towards another group of pirates. You leap as several grenades fly towards you, throwing out your hand to grapple beam a militia and pull it towards you, firing an ice beam shot before it crashed into you. Smashing through the cloud of expanding frozen gore you charge another ice beam shot and smash it into a Zeta Pirates chest, the full blast and your momentum killing it instantly. Another Zeta tries to grab at you but you lean back, snapping off a shot at one of its comrades before doing a backflip, your foot kicking the claw away. Another shot freezes it solid, before another burst of ice beam shots freezes its comrades. You leap into the air, locking on and then letting five missiles fly, shattering the rest of the squad.

"Can you?" You ask when you land, before you turn and sprint towards the mobile SAM Launcher.

"Haha!" You hear the Phrygisian chuckle as he flies up beside you, apparently riding a cloud of ice he was forming at his feet. "Alright Samus, lets rip these monsters apart!"

Heh, you think you like this Rundas.

The corners of your mouth curl upwards as the two of you charge straight to the AA launcher, which was surrounded by five armoured troopers with shields, multiple squads of militia and troopers/Zeta's of which five troopers had shields, four aerotroopers, 3 grenadiers and a Gunner Pirate.

[] Write-in Plan.

  • Information on Space Pirate forces and technology.

    • Vehicle: Pirate Mobile SAM Launcher
Anti-air vehicle usually defended by a compliment of troops. Internals vulnerable to morph ball bombs

Surprisingly well-armoured and equipped with powerful Surface-to-Air Missiles the Pirate Mobile SAM Launcher lacks any form of weapon to deal with ground-based foes, requiring a compliment of troops to protect it. Its internals are made of Talloric Alloy and based off Kinetic Orb Cannons, indicating the pirates never anticipated morph-ball technology. A morph ball bomb detonated inside the launcher will not only severely jam its auto-loader, but force the weapon to start firing missiles, ejecting the morphball before destroying itself.

Oh man Samus action freefall plus the music was epic!:D
Can Rundas and Samus use their respective ice beams to freeze the ground underneath the enemies making it unstable for them while Rundas rushes forward with an ice shield to plow through them while Samus morph ball gets into the AA unit?

Basically turn the battlefield into an ice rink and they skate through the pirates.:p

[X] Samus and Rundas engage the guards and when Samus gets an opening she rolls down the launcher barrel and spams bombs.

It has that bomb vulnerability after all. Might be better if Rundas distracts the guards and Samus goes for it?

Considering the size of the morph ball, it's ability to self direct and the strength of Federation power armor, could Rundas throw Samus in morph ball mode into the launcher barrel?

[X] Plan Ice Pun
-[X] Target the Pirates with shields first, they're... not actually threatening, but not killing them immediately could possibly waste time for later.
-[X] Enthusiastically murder the rest of the Pirates
-[X] Have Rundas slam dunk us in Morph Ball form into the SAM Launcher for style.
