Its attacking us right now.
Whoops

[X] Use Ice Beam to Freeze it, then use missiles to shatter it.
-[X] If more show up, focus on freezing them while our Allies use missiles to finish them off.
[X] Tell allies to keep their distance from it/them.
[X] If you find an egg, keep it. Maybe you can raise it.

And Samus arriving on a planet is also probably a 10 by itself. I mean, Samus is awesome, but the girl is a terrible tenant, given the sheer number of planets she leaves just as they're becoming clouds of expanding vapor.

Hey hey now, the girl does save planets you know. Why, just look at the Metroid Prime series: she only destroyed two one and a half planets, and it took her three whole games to destroy an entire planet.

Ohgodohgodohgodohgod.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how screwed is Earth right now?
Space Pirates alone are a 10, given that they are a serious (if non-existential) threat to a multi-galactic civilization directly crafted by the Chozo. Metroids are kind of tame in comparison - sure, they're the most incredibly vicious and deadly predator animal in the universe, but it's possible for an ecosystem to exist with them in it.

I think that's because they don't actively go around hunting anything other than X. They tend to stay put and only attack things that enter their territory.

I'd say more of a 20, Metroids are aggressive by nature, need a bio computer like the Mother Brain to keep them in check and they do not discriminate in terms of food.

The buggers also can evolve into a few forms that are not easy to handle unless the freeze ray is available en mass, namely the hunter metroids and then there is always the possibility of a Prime popping up eventually or worse a Queen.

You don't hesitate for a second, firing off an ice beam shot just as it closed in on you. The creature freezes instantly, dropping to the ground with a dull "thunk." You don't stop, firing a missile to shatter it which causes your companions to leap back in alarm as what had happened in the space of a second finally registers.

"Why'd you kill it?!" Laser dream shouts, her voice shaking in shock and anger as Velocity stumbles back, hitting his elbow into the access panel for the maintenance door.

You can't answer, your chest seizing as you struggle to breathe. You're afraid. Afraid of those things. The two halves of your being, Chozo and human were reeling, terrified at what this creature represented. Your human half was screaming from that ancestral line, recognizing a predator that saw you as only food. While the Chozo half was thinking, analyzing and coming to one horrible conclusion.

That... that thing is.... If they get off Antarctic humanity... all life on earth... they'd devour it all.

And the Pirates. The pirates brought them here, the pirates found demons somewhere in the void and made them stronger.

And worst of all some small part of you was seeing the potential of such a creature. How it might save the universe. How it might do good if only someone could control them.

A potential only matched by the evil they could unleash.

Whoever controlled these creatures determined the fate of the universe, for good or ill.

It was enticing, seductive thought but you threw it away. You needed to wipe them out, all life on earth was in danger!

Something that was affirmed as the hatch to the maintenance tunnel opened and Velocity stumbled back, not believing what he was seeing.

It was a pirate, frozen in reaching for the hatch in a moment of blind terror, its body gray and lifeless. Other Pirates were behind it, frozen in their final moments of terror and pain. You were reminded of the remains of the people of Pompeii you had read about, how the volcanic ash had preserved its inhabitants as haunting impressions, their fear and despair preserved for all eternity.

The others looked to each other, forgetting the creature you had just killed. Questions were on every one of their lips, and Velocity began to reach out, his hand brushing the grey statue.

It vanished with no fanfare, no dramatic crumble. Just the act of touching it reduced it to a cloud of ash that quickly dispersed.

"What the hell..." Was all Velocity could say.

"The armour, the weapons..... how could all of it..." Armsmaster muttered, a naked sense of horror edging into his voice.

Lady Photon turned to you. "Samus, you scanned these remains right? What did... this?" She asks, though you were certain she already knew the answer.

You still look down at the shattered fragments of the creature.

And then immediately jump as a roar shakes the very foundations of the building, causing the other pirate remains to vanish in clouds of dust.

You all rush to the window overlooking the courtyard, trying to look through the blizzard and see what made that noise.

You first see them as clusters of light emerging from the darkness. Massive shapes, dozens of them. They resembled in many ways the dinosaurs you had seen in the museum so long ago, but twisted into an alien form. Glowing eyes swept back and forth, taking in the area, its lamprey-like mouth dripping slime, the light catching off its thick armour. Others appeared, either warping in like the floating creature did or outright flying in. There were smaller, humanoid sized ones scuttling about at their feet in a manner you almost thought implied they were the babies of the larger creatures. All of them seemed to huddle together for warmth, shivering in the oppressive cold.

There had to be dozens of creatures in this herd, and you suspect it wouldn't be long until they sought shelter in Pirate base, like the floating creature did.

After all, their glowing gelatinous bellies told you all you needed to know about their relationship to the creature you had just killed before you scanned them.

    • Morphology: Unclassified Xenoform Omega Strain
Omega class adaptive predator. Avoid at all costs.

Due to the mysterious energy being emitted from the geographic south pole the Xenoforms have apparently gorged themselves well beyond what planet earth could provide for them and as such their continual metamorphosis has proceeded at an unprecedented rate. The apparent final stage of those xenoforms who have not mutated into other breeds from over-adaptation to parahumans this creature defies conventional wisdom on super-predators. It maintains the warping ability of its larval state in addition to its flight abilities but comes with a whole new host of deadly powers at its disposal. The Omega strain is able to fire concentrated energy blasts similar to the wave beam from its maw, project energy waves from its claws and send out a gravity-flux that causes the terrain to shift erratically, creating extremely unstable footing plus damaging structures and vehicles. Simply touching the beast will instantly kill the standard GF-marine and the Omega comes out extremely favorably in all simulated match-ups with known Federation vehicles.

The only "vulnerability" apparent on the creature is the creature's belly, which shares the same membranous material as its larval state and as such is extremely vulnerable to cold temperatures, however, due to its size and durability, only the most powerful of such weaponry will do more than annoy the creature. However, if a powerful explosive was detonated from inside the creature's belly it would be instantly killed, though very few explosives would survive long enough if swallowed.

Seemingly aware of this the Omega is capable of generating an armour made of crystalline shards. Extremely durable this armour allows the Omega to channel its own vast energy stores into it to mimic Parahuman abilities, choosing from a pool of abilities much like the Parahuman Eidolon, though unlike Eidolon the Omega must create a "stack" of abilities that must fit a certain theme but it can use these abilities immediately at full power, quickly "hot-swap" between them depending on the situation and appears to have an extreme amount of control over what abilities it has at any one time. This comes at the cost of the crystalline armour negatively resonating with certain weapon types depending on what power stack is used. Attacking with those weapon types will shatter the armour and prevent the Omega from regenerating it for a period of time.

This ability indicates this Xenoform species possess not only the ability to adapt and incorporate abilities of its victims on a species-wide level but a powerful intellect. This is most seen by the creatures ability to gather with other Omega's and Xenoform strains in herds often reaching a hundred individuals and act in a coordinated fashion though whether this is the result of a higher intellect controlling them is currently unknown.

WARNING: DO NOT ENGAGE. CHANCE OF USER DEATH IS 100% AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

    • Morphology: Unclassified Xenoform Zeta Strain
Pack Hunter. Powerful plasma-acid dissolves any defense. Avoid at all costs.

Working in small packs this highly aggressive variant of the predator xenoform species relentlessly hunts any prey it becomes aware of. Possessing both incredible speed as well as the flight, warping and electrical discharge abilities of its preceding morphs it also comes with several deadly new abilities. It can spit a powerful acid that rapidly eats through most shields and armour in the known universe as well as project energy-waves from its claws. Simply having the creature touch a victim will result in it draining its victim's lifeforce. Only vulnerable in its belly it can create a crystalline armour around its body to protect it though sufficient kinetic force like from missile bombardment will shatter it. It seems drawn towards Parahumans.

WARNING: DO NOT ENGAGE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

"What did the Pirates do here?" Lady Photon asks, staring at the herd of creatures before her. You hadn't shared the scan yet, unsure of how to break it to them but Armsmaster figured it out.

"They all died. This base, this continent is a tomb. The Pirates aren't hiding anything here, they aren't manipulating global temperatures like we thought. They're quarantining Antarctica to keep those things from the rest of the world. We need to leave, now. The others need to know of this threat."

But... you still had questions. What was feeding these creatures? How were they breeding? Did the Simurgh die here?

Should you stay for a moment longer or should you leave before the monsters notice you?

I...I...uh....
I don't even know what sort of reaction meme, gif, or video encompasses this. I....

We may be in trouble, guys.

3 overall possibilities for me here...

a) Maybe these things ate the Simurgh. Enough said.

b) Maybe the Simurgh was here... but noped the hell off of of Earth Bet when she tried to precog the Metroids and their offshoots. That one Metroid with Vista-like powers implies some pretty horrifying things. Like the idea that they can spread to other dimensions beyond that of Earth Bet without needing to hitch a ride with the Pirates or anyone else. Nowhere is safe, people. Nowhere.

c) And, lastly, (and, quite possibly most horrifyingly for me even if it seems like an unlikely possibility in some ways, ) maybe the Simurgh is directing the Metroids hoping to unleash them on the Pirates. (If this is happening, I can only imagine that the Simurgh is doing it several dimensions away and is ready to bolt at the slightest sign of trouble. ) The damage the Metroids could do with the direction of the Simurgh... I'm just going to shut down now.
