Why would you want to bite a Space Pirate? I bet they taste nasty!

Nonono! *handwave* The Space Pirates try to bite us. Because they are omnivores in the truest sense. Probably a form of 'hello' in Space Pirate-esse.

And we're happy to oblige them, by supplementing their *cough* "low-energy" diet with gratis Charged Wave Beam shots.

Finally came back to this! It's been on my list to catch up, but it never seemed to happen.

Awesome stuff, IB! From the action to the hard moments Samus is alone, it's been a great ride.

For the vote, JUSTICE MISSLES!!

Since we just heard it declared that this space pirate invasion was an S class threat does that mean piggot and dragon have put in the phone calls enacting the same truce rules as used for end bringers? Or are they still trying to keep this laser battle that destroyed half the city a secret?

Since we know for sure the bad guys are specifically out to get us, we should consider staying in range of our fire support capes on the roof. I don't want to be too far away when we get the "big surprise" sprung on us and no one even knowing we are in the boss fight.

The Pirates are actively jamming all communications in the city.

Edit:
Bowser/Ridley comic
Well, it isn't like Bowser never felt the need to corrupt/transform a portion of the Mushroom Kingdom in a vulcanic wasteland, presumibly killing at minimum the plant and insect life, and probably more.

Oh, wait, he did it! :p

Bowser is Disgaea evil. Typically when DIsgaea evil is confronted with real evil, they kick it's ass.
It's the difference between being a petty, greedy asshole and being a genocidal monster. Sure, the jackasses are unpleasant, but at least they aren't those evil bastards with the torture chambers and the three hundred recipes using fresh human flesh. Frankly, Bowser and Disgaea "evil" types are basically jaywalkers in comparison to the real thing.

I wonder what the gangs are doing during all this? Did the Space Pirates do something like bribe or assassinate them to prevent them from doing anything because I expect Kaiser to at least protect his assets? I mean Coil is obviously working for them like the slimy scum he his :p.

Regarding the gangs, I wouldn't be surprised if certain people...disappeared.

As for Coil, I honestly didn't get that impression - granted, we don't know what he's actually doing. He was interested in that Tinkertech shield generator, and he had that guy in the hospital to look out for...something? Not exactly clear.

Maybe it was the shield generator, but it felt like he was trying to get equipment - which makes me think he's trying to make power armor for his cronies and minions.

...on the other hand, maybe he is under the thumb of the Space Pirates, and since the Undersiders are under Coil's thumb, and since the author said that they had plans for the Undersiders, and and knowing what we do about Space Pirates...

...oh god. Oh god.

The Pirates bombed half the city to dissuade reinforcements and to cripple infrastructure. Also, to trigger as many... triggers as possible from the survivors though they were far more lethal here than normal. Armsmaster, not being a complete idiot, does have Paralyzers ready to go but he's kinda killing horrible monsters at the moment.

Also, check out my recently updated fic!

I take it that the gangs when witnessing an alien invasion decided that hiding is the less suicidal option?

Disclaimer: I apologize if this was discussed before but I can't find the search function to check if this was brought this up.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way time to state my idea. In the Metroid Wiki when describing Space Pirates it directly states " bipeds possessing exoskeletons similar to arthropods (insects, arachnids, crustaceans, etc.)". So this makes me wonder if Taylor can affect Space Pirates with her power. I don't expect Taylor to have enough control to make the Space Pirates reenact the plays of Shakespeare but I believe keeping it Regant levels of twitches would prevent Taylor from becoming too overpowered. Once again I apologize if this was already discussed and isn't directly related to the current action.

Pretty sure it's been explicitly confirmed that Taylor's control is more based on level of sapience than outright arthropod-ness. No matter how insectoid space pirates are, I don't think Taylor can so much as tell them to pass the salt.

You charge a wave beam shot, firing it straight into the lone Kihunters back. It screams in agony, hitting the ground and convulsing. Several uncharged shots finish it off, the kihunter disintegrating under the onslaught. However it took far more shots than you'd have liked, but your scan visor already indicated their weakness. The other Kihunters turn, buzzing angrily while their beak-like mouths drip their potent acid. They were quick, you realize but it didn't matter. You'll slaughter every Kihunter here!

1D100+20 => 36 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 1
1D100+20 => 37 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 2
1D100-20 => 26 #>60 Kihunter Group 1 Attacks Samus
1D100-20 => 77 #>60 Kihunter Group 2 Attacks Samus
1D20*3+10 => 55 #Damage taken

1D100 => 78 #>60 Kihunter Group 3 Attacks Samus
1D20*3+10 => 37
1D100 => 65 #>60 Kihunter Group 4 Attacks Samus
1D20*3+10 => 25

Missiles lock on and streak out, racing towards the Kihunters with their telltale roar. The Kihunters can only watch as they draw closer, their devastating payload mere inches from them when... they dodge. For a moment you're taken aback, one minute the Kihunters were facing death then at the last minute they beat their wings with a noticeable pulse of energy that granted them incredible speed, allowing them to nimbly sidestep the missiles or lead them into the ground, the missiles exploding harmlessly when they impacted. Kihunters it seemed possessed incredible speed, and if they were in a larger swarm could likely pose a serious challenge.

You recover quickly however, rolling out of the way of the Kihunters return fire. Acid projectiles, somehow glowing with their strange biological processes, fly through the air at incredible speeds. When they impact the acid splashes everywhere, melting sand through sand and releasing clouds of thick poisonous gas. Another realization you have is that Kihunters possessed frightening accuracy as the second group takes advantage of the first volley fired to launch their acid projectiles directly into your path. They splash on you, impacting much like an energy bolt would. Yet, a sticky resin splashes out with each hit, clinging to your limbs. Pulsing with energy it was visibly weakening and crumbling and didn't do damage over time thanks to your shields but the strange substance was so strong every movement you made felt like it was in water.

You struggle to get out of the line of fire, the resin thankfully not clogging up the jets on your back, but a few shots clip you. As your shields drain you let out an animalistic snarl and charge straight at the swarm, locking on to the nearest group.

1D100+20 => 110 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 1
1D100+20 => 91 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 2
1D100-20 => 61 #>60 Kihunter Group 3 Attacks Samus
1D20*3+10 => 52
1D50+20 => 44 #Health recovered
1D10+2 => 5 #Missiles recovered
1D100 => 65 #>60 Kihunter Group 4 Attacks Samus
1D20*3+10 => 31

So intent to hammer you down with their acid attacks the Kihunters don't get out of the way before its two late. Missiles erupt as you charge straight into the midst of the nearest group and two Kihunters are blown into pieces before they can even react. The last missile impacts a Kihunter in the second group and its wings are ripped apart from the force. It falls to the ground, clawing at the sand to right itself. You don't give it the chance, grabbing it by its leg and throwing it at two other Kihunters that were too close together. It hits them in the air, the Kihunters shrieking in surprise as their comrade hits them. They were only stunned for a moment, yet it was more than enough time for your missiles to close in and detonate, chunks of Kihunter raining from the sky.

Your success is short lived however as you feel your limbs seize up as an acid bolt hits you dead in the back. You turn with glacial slowness compared to what you were used too, charging a wave beam shot before firing. The shot scatters the Kihunters and luckily gives you some energy and missiles back from the materials left behind by the kihunters you had just killed. Which turns quite useful when you feel a chill go up your spine and you leap to the side, but too slow to prevent an acid bolt striking you in the leg.

Whirling, you lock onto the offending Kihunter.

1D100+20 => 116 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 3
1D100+20 => 81 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 4
1D100-20 => 27 #>60 Kihunter Group 4 Attacks Samus
1D100+20 => 85 #>50 Samus Attacks Kihunter Group 4
1D50+50 => 66 #Health recovered

Missiles shoot out, two salvo's in rapid succession. Kihunters vanish in the blue bursts of light, their blood splattering across you and the sand. One Kihunter falls from the sky, its wings burning away. It manages to land on its shaky limbs before with impressive speed it launches itself at you. Talons, sharp enough to slice through metal with ease reach out towards you, just as your hand closes around the Kihunters throat. You slam a foot into its thorax, forcing it into the sand as the Kihunter lets out a gasping shriek, beak splitting wide open.

You then ram your arm cannon straight into its gullet. Choking, it tries to force you off, limbs pushing into your chest and shoulders as you charge a shot. You don't lose your grip until you fire, the Kihunter bursting apart into burnt goo in your hand. Luckily too, you charging the shot also drew in some material, returning some energy for your shields.

Samus Energy [62 (03)]
Samus Missiles [000]

Unfortunately you were out of missiles, and would likely have to scavenge around for some materials. Maybe blow up some ruined vehicles and see if they can give you anything. The carnage was... bad, bodies everywhere. Twelve Kihunters had ripped apart the military forces here with almost casual ease, the mist of corrosive gas left behind by their acidic attacks likely killing most of them, choking to death as their lungs melted as they breathed it in.

What an awful way to die...

You glance upwards to the battle taking place in the skies above, flashes of light more like lightning than gunfire with thunder to match. Occasionally a burning meteor would plummet from the sky, another ATC shot down. A sound of fuel igniting draws your attention to a streak of smoke emerging from the rig. Hmm, looks like the SAM sites on the Rig are finally firing, for all the good they'd do. Even if they were tinker-tech designed for taking down an aerial assault you suspect they'd had never been intended to fight spaceships capable of out-maneuvering most if not all terrestrial aircraft and could casually disable or fool their primitive guidance systems. Which made sense, as most of the missile launchers on the rig were Surface to Surface missiles. Those were the one's that definitely had tinker-tech payloads inside them. However you doubt they had time or the capability to retrofit the SAM's with those. A fact confirmed when the sky above you explodes into a series of fractal shapes, a visual illusion probably intended to severely confuse most flyers and guidance systems. However you don't see Dragon having any advantage, the ATC's dropping at the same rate they did before.

If only your ship was armed...

Idly you send a status update to Dragon and her voice breaks over the comms, just as the lightning ceases above you. "Huntress? Oh thank goodness, you're safe. You shouldn't have run off! What would you have done if you got into trouble and needed backup?!" She lectures you.

"All Kihunters were eliminated." Was your only reply, and you hear Dragon sigh as her Dragon suit settles into a lower altitude. "Forget it for now, I've taken out the last ATC, and it looks like the others have dealt with the last of those monsters. We'll switch out the missiles for CF foam then get to work in the city with the Paralyzers Armsmaster and I integrated into the suits. I'll stay in the air and keep an eye out for the commander, if he shows-"

Her last word was cut off however as a deafening roar of noise and a bright flash of light from the direction of the Rig. Your eyes drift down in horror as the entire structure vanished into a fireball, trails of debris shooting into the sky like missiles. Training kicking in you dig your heels into the sand and brace yourself as the shockwave hits you like a truck, nearly bowling you over. You can hear windows shattering from all around you from the sheer force of the explosion, the sea creatures still alive getting knocked over with pained shrieks with more human screams coming from in the city.

Dragons suit struggles in the air as she is buffeted by the shockwave. "W-what the hell did they just do?!" She yells as more shouts from the others explode over the comms.

You aren't given much time to comprehend though as you just catch a sphere of green energy strike Dragon in the back. The explosion tears through the metal and shields, detonating her flight pack. In an instant she becomes a flaming streak, plummeting towards the ocean.

"NO!" You scream, and without thinking you reach towards her through your suit. For a moment you connect, and you see her as she is, a living being composed of code and something else, something more.

Your heart clenches and even though you know she can restore from backup, even though you know the risk in placing her inside of it, your suit activates several programs that transfer her into your ship, violently tearing her from the organic-computer system in her Dragonsuit and shoving her into your ships own biotech computer where she plunges into the ocean of data contained within and seemingly... unwinds. Fear overrides reason, and you panic. Had you just destroyed your friend? Was she so incompatible with Chozo systems that you had killed her?!

Sand explodes around you, turning into molten glass and you're forced to turn your attention to the cause behind all this, sitting in the air above you.

A Pirate Dropship, with the commander likely inside.

    • Morphology: DSX-54734 Dropship
      Pirate Dropship slowly being phased out of the pirate military. Possesses powerful anti-infantry weapons.

      With the ability to carry thirty Pirate Troopers and its cheap price the DSX-54734 Dropship was considered a mainstay of the Pirate Military for years, despite its numerous flaws. Its defenses, while capable of deflecting most infantry grade beam weapons, are relatively weak to infantry grade missile systems and anti-vehicle weaponry. Most notably its electronic systems create incredible heat, especially around its weapon systems and are capable of easily being overloaded, severely damaging the craft in the process. This has resulted in thinner armour at these sections in an attempt to regulate the heat produced that can easily be identified with most thermal detection systems. This thinner armour is still highly resistant to most beam weapons but vulnerable to missiles. Weapons capable of phasing through these armour sections though and containing an electrical component may be capable of severely damaging the craft by overloading the electronic systems.

      These flaws have resulted in the craft being mostly phased out at the current time. Those still in service have been retrofitted with two Tribeam cannons, a modified "Vigilance" class turret and a multi-missile system all intended to deal solely with ground targets. This unit in particular has received an upgraded detection system that allows the Pilot to detect Parahumans and their abilities.

      Special Note: Thermal Visor has limited visual range. Lock on for weakpoints will only become available at close range.

Dragon is either going to get a massive power, or her death will be used to fuel Samus's growth further into an angsty teenager that killed her best friend on accident.

Either way, I suspect dragon rolled poorly.

-edit-

I mean a regular friend not best. Taylor is bestie.
