Passing up an opportunity for senseless destruction?

That's heresy!
*shrug* Eh, so Samus isn't thinking very logically right now. Town's more wrecked than Stalingrad right now, nobody'll complain destroyed stuff gets even more destroyed.

Huh... That's a very very good point actually...

Another point, if you wanted to actually do that vote, make sure it's on its own line @NotteBoy97

Hmm. It's not a bad idea though, would save us time. We will presumably get hit while we do this.

I'm thinking changing it so we call the ship to us and check on dragon meanwhile. While we wait for the ship to arrive we do collect what scrap we can, but when it arrives we jump in and full restock there while it heads up to the ship. Should only take a few seconds for each of those actions and another dragon interaction/soothing possibly. Mhmmm

I'll think about it and put up a mock vote to see if anyone has any objections later. Going to do some grocery shopping first. Here's a current vote tally for those who are interested. (Hoping this doesn't trigger an update by IB before alterations are made heh)

Bah, I'll throw it down real quick before I go.
[x] Plan Samus's Rage
-[x] Call your ship to you so that you can use it to reach the dropship.
-
-[x] Obtain more missiles from the KiHunter body scrap and nearby objects. (Cars/Tanks/Etc)
---[x] Maintain awareness of the attacks from the Dropship while doing this and destroy any incoming attacks as well for more scrap. to restore yourself to at least half combat load.
----[x] Check on the situation with your comrades.
--[x] Once your ship arrives jump in and do a full reload of your energy and missiles.
-[x] Take the attack to the fucking Space Pirate Commander who killed all your acquaintances at the rig!
--[x] Call your ship to you so that you can use it to reach the dropship.
---[x] Also t Try to communicate with Dragon if possible. See if she is ok and able to help you with this fight (Piloting etc) or whatever topic she proposes.
---[x] If not, the autopilot should be able to do it at lowered efficiency.
--[x] Attack in the skies with your space boots, your scan has advised you this dropship is at a disadvantage against aerial targets. Use your agility in mid air using your space boots and your spaceship as a fast platform to get in range.
--[x] Close into thermal visor range to identify and destroy the dropships weak points using charged wave beam shots and missiles when able to do so.
---[x] Kill them all.

Comments/Concerns/Suggestions?

@ImmortalsBlade, out of curiosity, how familiar are you with superhero comics? And if you are, have any of them inspired this story in any way?

I'm only asking because this story as a whole makes me think of an American "superhero" comic, but it's kinda obscure and I don't want to look like a fool referencing it.

The only person who looks like a fool when an obscure reference is involved is the one(s) who decides to make fun of the person making said reference.
So by all means, please share with the thread, and describe for any uninitiated where you see the parallels.

I only know from osmosis mostly and hanging out on /co/ occasionally.

Though, I have been looking for a way to reference atomic robo...

Welp I see no complaints or comments on the adjusted vote since I left so I have edited them into here at the vote.

Got to focus, got to kill this thing.

Energy bolts and missiles were pouring from the sky, only warnings from your suit allowing you to dodge as Sand and debris were vaporized in the barrage. The beach was rapidly turning from a bloodsoaked battlefield to a mass of cracked cooling glass and molten craters as sea creatures dive into the water.

A piece of your arm cannon flips around and you tap out the command to synch your ship with your suit. You should be able to remotely control it from your suit, allowing you to dogfight with this Dropship if you ride on the top of your ship by magnetically attaching yourself to its hull.

The Dropship itself seems to be carrying out an attack pattern similar to Earth-Bet's AC-130's, focusing on long-range bombardment to disrupt infantry movements. If it was focused on anyone but you it'd probably do significant damage to your friends, as it was far more accurate than any weapon Earth-Bet's Military's use that aren't Tinker designed. However, it was solely devoted to anti-ground operations, a modification by the commander. You can take advantage of that.

But first, you need some missiles.

A trio of parked vehicles, including a tank are a prime target, and three charge shots arc out. They obliterate the unshielded military vehicles, reducing them to burning scrap metal.

Samus Missiles [021]

Perfect.

Just at that moment a sonic boom announces your ships arrival, the massive craft banking to circle you. You leap on just as several missiles streak towards you, your boots immediately attaching themselves to its orange surface.

A channel opens up between your ship's AI and your suit. "What's the plan?" Dragon asks.

"Its electronics can be overloaded by my Wave Beam, but I need to use my thermal visor to see lock onto them and it only has a limited visual range. We'll need to get close. Luckily t doesn't have fighter support, so we should be able to dodge most of its attacks."

"Understood, I'll get as close as I can but I'll need to limit my approach vectors to prevent stray shots from hitting the city. But if you start taking damage get inside! I'm not going to let these pirates shoot you off." Dragon informs you as the ship starts to climb. The Dropship, its pilot realizing your plan, fires its engines and disappears into a cloud, your ship accelerating to catch up with it. Visibility was awful, forcing you to switch to your thermal visor as an open channel is opened between the ground team and you.

"This is Dragon, Huntress and I are in pursuit of a Pirate Dropship. Don't try to join, we've reached 30, 000 feet and are climbing. Get into the city, help the civilians." Dragon announces, and Armsmaster's voice immediately cuts in.

"Dragon? I saw your suit get shot down, do you have another approaching?"

"I'll explain later, just get into the city. We'll meet up at the PRT HQ when this things been shot down."

Dragon then addresses you. "Samus this is real high-speed combat. You'll need 100% focus. Only keep your eyes on taking out those guns, let me worry about dodging its fire."

"Understood Dragon." You say as you level your arm cannon, the Pirate Dropship becoming visible as energy bolts fly by your ship, your ship maneuvering on its own to dodge the fire with no input from you.

Yet, you can't focus fully on the gunship, there's something niggling at the back of your mind.

Almost like you're missing something important....

[] Eh, you'll worry about it later. Stick to the plan and destroy these monsters!

  • Information on notable Artificial Intelligence's encountered in Samus's travels.

    • Morphology: Dragon
Chozo Artificial Intelligence. Assists Samus from her ships biotech computer.

Thanks to the precognitive and programming skills of the Chozo Elders Grey Voice and Old Bird Dragon has "evolved" for lack of a better term. Now a Chozo AI while she lacks the sheer power of an Aurora Unit or Mother Brain with full unrestricted access to Samus's database, Samus's ship's hardware and software paired with her own ingenuity, curiosity and unshakable morals Dragon is an invaluable ally for any Chozo warrior.

However, this evolution has come at a cost. No longer attached to the [MULTIDIMENSIONAL PHENOMENON] that allowed her to innately understand and copy tinker-technology she can no longer replicate, create or modify it as the phenomenon that allows such devices to function is no longer produced by her. Therefore Dragon must rely on her database, downloaded blueprints and her own vast technical skills to match her previous output. Also, while Chozo biotech computers and AI process information faster than the speed of light Dragon herself is used to "thinking" at human comparable speeds, and must rely on several non-sapient AI to assist in her operations until she acclimatizes.

Dragon herself is currently limited to only residing inside Samus's ship, and can not transfer her conscience to another device due to the incompatibility Chozo AI have with non-Chozo derived systems, however she is capable of remotely operating a nearly unlimited number of drones and other systems if given the opportunity as well as the systems she had created before being transferred. She is also currently incapable of creating other AI of similar capabilities again due to the lack of necessary hardware. Her tinker-derived backups in Vancouver for all intents and purposes no longer exist, and while proxies Dragon designed to imitate herself are currently functioning it is only a matter of time before this fact becomes known to parties watching her.

While these are a blow they are only temporary one's, as the sheer versatility now available to her and the unlimited potential for growth her spirit has Dragon is now fully prepared to assist in the fight against the Space Pirates, an opportunity she greatly relishes.

Hey guys, I'd like to draw your attention to a quest that recently came back to life. @Arkanian Wormwalk, which was one of the original inspirations for this quest. Great writing, interesting twists and WAY more effort put in then anything I've done. It's also the only Worm/MtG crossover I've seen that actually uses MtG lore!

Check it out!

Worried about the changes to Dragon now and the fact she can't do some of her main jobs anymore.

She will need to seriously upgrade/change up her stuff in general so she can use it now.

It's more of a sidegrade is my impression.

She gives up the "Tinker Replication" in favor of no longer being no longe chained down to the whims of an angry supervillain, and superior overall processing speed. (She also hasn't lost anything she already knew, as long as her database doesn't wind up exploding)

There's even a perfectly legitimate clause to justify it! "The Pirate attack was specifically designed to attack my core consciousness, I managed to pull through, but my powers aren't working the same way thanks to it".

[X] Eh, you'll worry about it later. Stick to the plan and destroy these monsters!

Best to not get distracted I think.

Good news is that it looks like Dragon will eventually (???-Time lapse) be able to handle all her old jobs just as well and then go forth to improve on everything. She no longer has easy-hax copy of Tinker Tech but can now eventually make the equivalent via ADVANCE CHOZO SCIENCE POWER STUFF.

Also we have Cortan... I mean Dragon as our AI-Buddy.

Who will *based on above* be able to make Bioroids? Super Robots? Cool stuff.
We'll go with Cool Stuff (TM).

... this makes Dragon weaker on things only she can do in short-term, if not ever, for long-term gain of becoming a 'Metroid' AI.
Oy vey IB, you know where this'll end up, right?
Dragon herself is currently limited to only residing inside Samus's ship, and can not transfer her conscience to another device due to the incompatibility Chozo AI have with non-Chozo derived systems, however she is capable of remotely operating a nearly unlimited number of drones and other systems if given the opportunity as well as the systems she had created before being transferred. ... and now the Birdcage, PRT foam/Tinkertech production, and other processes only she could do are fucked.
While these are a blow they are only temporary one's, as the sheer versatility now available to her and the unlimited potential for growth her spirit has Dragon is now fully prepared to assist in the fight against the Space Pirates, an opportunity she greatly relishes.
So a Metroid AI could step into canon-Dragon's shoes no problem?

It's more of a sidegrade is my impression.
Dragon's Big Thing that made her vital was that Tinker-tech replication/Mass Production. Without it, the PRT's down their most useful tool against capes.

[X] Eh, you'll worry about it later. Stick to the plan and destroy these monsters!

She hasn't actually lost the formulas for anything she already made, and once she reasserts her credentials, she'll be able to take up her old role.

The problem, of course, would be Saint taking command and then breaking Teacher out of the Birdcage. Because he absolutely is the kind of panicking gobshite who would see "OH SHIT I LOST CONTROL OF DRAGON, LET'S BREAK OUT ONE OF THE WORST SUPERVILLAINS IN THE WORLD TO MAKE ME STRONG ENOUGH TO HARNESS HER AGAIN" And Ascalon still lets him dominate any Dragon-derived AI or system.

Well, if it's any consolation there's a hint towards her near-endgame that's now only available thanks to her upgrade in her character portrait.

Her Mass Producible near-endgame. :V
Fair enough and since she is now a Chozo AI she can possibly end up creating tech that is as advanced if not more so than Tinker-tech in time since we see how stuff like Samus' armor (which is Chozo tech) can interact with Tinker-tech in general.
