Hakazin Plays: Mods for Hearts of Iron 4 (Old World Blues) (ON HIATUS)

[X] Medium Tanks

Our tanks are fast, with armor sure and steady,
Our ponies are stout, with courage in their hearts!
Our noble crews are standing at the ready,
The sons of Stalliongrad will do their part!

Chorus:
With glistening steel and turrets blazing fire,
We will embark upon a fierce campaign!
And when we're called to fight with Comrade Stallion,
We know his spirit shall lead once again!

The work of all who built this mighty nation,
We'll gladly guard, until the fight is done!
Every pony is standing at his station!
We'll repel them with our mighty guns!

(Chorus)

So let the foe, who lies in traps to ambush
Know that we are always on our guard!
We desire no piece of foreign conquest,
But we'll not yield a single inch or yard!

(Chorus)

And if a foe should ever dare attack us,
We shall defeat him, always, everywhere;
Our tanks will rage, and mercilessly pursue him,
Upon the land, the sea, and through the air!

(Chorus)

[X] Medium Tanks

It is abundantly clear what you people are interested in. Luckily, by the time we get access to the Medium Tank tree, we should have enough Army XP to make dedicated divisions.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have good advice for what tank divisions should consist of?

Projected harvest totals are good. Very good, in fact. Good to the point that, even including the famine relief efforts, the agriculturalists are projecting a surplus of grain and food.

The trials of Longsword are not over! Although the Reformisten were driven out, in Hellquill they found safe harbor. Now, the griffons plan to invade again, seeking to continue their genocide. Although Longsword's army is larger, it is poorly equipped and still recovering from the civil war.

The final stage of construction for the Palace of the Soviets has begun. Already government offices have moved to the mostly-completed building, administrative work taking place alongside active construction.

As it turns out, the projections of a surplus were relying on the assumption that all the farms in Stalliongrad would be using modern equipment to harvest the food. This, obviously, is not true, and our attempts at rectifying this massive oversight have caused chaos with the collectivisation efforts.

In addition, another problem has begun to rear its head. Many formerly wealthy peasants, furious at having their lands redistributed to the people, have formed rings of saboteurs dedicated to interfering with the farming efforts out of spite. Several reports of collective farms going up in flames have already landed on Vasily's desk. His initial reaction is to send in the military to restore order, but some are counseling restraint. The projected surplus can handle a few rowdy counter-revolutionaries causing chaos, they say, and sending in the army might cause collateral damage. However, the appearance of doing nothing to stop the sabotage would not be popular, either.

[X] Arrest The Saboteurs

We're recovering from food shortages and these greedy fucks are trying to burn down that which is vital to our efforts to feed the people. They need to be punished for trying to prolong the suffering imposed by starvation.

Sadly, this is one of those is one of those choices were the meta knowledge is more important.

4 Tank - 6 MotInf is my go-to armored division. Recon, engineer, supArt, maintenance, with the last spot flexible, though I guess use the Magical Company attachment since that's the Pony racial.

Update will be temporarily delayed while I iron out some issues with the game I've noticed. A decent amount of Stalliongrad's foreign policy revolves around Nova Griffonia, and I've found in my personal game that one of their Civil War events isn't working right.

Well, it's pretty clear you're going to go easy on the saboteurs . . . So for someone who doesn't know the meta, what's so bad about punishing people trying to prolong the period of mass starvation out of base greed?

I'm guessing it's just not worth the resources spent?

That, plus the hunt for the hoarders/saboteurs could get..out of hoof...and do more damage than it prevents.

As far as I can tell, it's actually the less damaging option of the two. Not cracking down gives a negative National Spirit that goes away at some point.

Also, update incoming. I couldn't quite figure out what the issue is, so I'm going to be tweaking the AI slightly to ensure a result that shouldn't cause issues. Not really kosher, I know, but if the damn game's not cooperating...

Vasily has been talked down from sending in the Army to crush the saboteurs. Although the lack of any apparent action has drawn criticism from the public, most are understanding of our government's dedication to the principles of socialism.

The new, materialistic focus of our government policy has resulted in large amounts of funding being directed at scientific research. Already showing benefits is the electronics sector. A collection of scientists operating out of the former Konzan Royal University have begun to make strides in miniaturizing radio equipment.

The food shortage proper have ended. The collectivisation efforts have paid off, with improved equipment being steadily supplied. However, our standard of living is not yet up to that of the capitalists, and likely will not be for a while.

Furthermore, internal reports are stating that the saboteurs have organized. Although the number of attacks has dropped, their planning and effectiveness has increased. Along with burning fields and broken tools, people are reporting improvised explosives in the warehouses and attacks on farmers.

Still though, what we've accomplished is impressive. Amazing what you can manage when ponies who actually are interested in helping people are running things!

Yeah… I get the feeling that these events should really be spaced out more. But, on the other hand, Kaiserreich has Germany recover from Black Monday in what, a year at the outside? Let's just chalk this up to necessary gameplay abstraction and be done with it.

Also, this does get rid of the sabotage National Spirit. Which we will chalk up to policing efforts.

Now that we have… 'dealt' with the famine, we can plan further improvements. The national infrastructure needs a massive overhaul, and talk has begun of founding new organizations to support socialism in the nation and abroad.

The Buffalo are having a dispute over the High Chiefdom, and by extension their policy toward Equestria. With the pro-Equestria faction under Chieftess Strongheart having the unofficial support of the Equestrian government (and the only division and military factory), they look likely to win the fight that has broken out.

The Equalists have requested more support, this time for their attempts at building factories. Naturally, we accepted and sent experts to assist them.

As expected, Strongheart's faction has won out in Buffalo territory. Already there are bets being made as to how long it will take for them to be annexed by Equestria.

After seeing the improvements Stalliongrad was making, Our Town has apparently voiced an interest in their direct integration into Stalliongrad.

No, this isn't anything like what the Equestrians are doing with the Buffalo. Stop spreading counter-revolutionary nonsense.

The palace is… finally… complete. The structure dominates the skyline of the city, which ended up heavily expanding to support the construction. It is now almost twice the size it was when the project started.

The completion was marked by a grand celebration, where Sinister officially offered his support to Vasily's government, in recognition of what he had accomplished. In addition, Nestor Lunin was directed to begin the process of reorganizing the military to function more effectively.

Our Town has officially accepted annexation into Stalliongrad! Despite protests at accepting the former Equalists into our state, Vasily was firm in his insistence that anypony can change, and ought to be given the chance if possible. He then used this to turn to his next announcement, the creation of a 'Socialist Union' to facilitate the international cooperation of communist countries.

Nestor, assigned to the process of integrating the militias into the Red Army, apparently started banging his head against the wall upon seeing what apparently counted as 'military discipline' in Our Town. Why, precisely, did they need anti-tank weaponry?

One of the major requests coming out of the Konzan Group, as they are coming to be called, is that of electrifying the country. After some initial clarification to Vasily that they referring to the population in either the metaphorical or literal sense, he readily agreed to their request, especially when they mentioned that starting electrification would help greatly with completing industrialisation.

Equestria, in typical imperialistic fashion, has annexed the Buffalos. Although they will be receiving Equestrian citizenship and technical self-governance as an 'autonomous region', we have denounced their action as a blatant land-grab motivated by a corporate greed to exploit the region and its people.

And before you ask, Our Town has no resources whatsoever. It's totally different.

Sadly enough, the Aquileans have not seen the light. They remain shackled to a Harmonist government, although the more moderate members of the PAT have joined and are exerting some concessions out of the damnable liberals.

Although our efforts at reforming society have been great, the noted activist Cranberry Branch broke into Vasily's office today to inform him that he has been neglecting a very important group. The children! After convincing security to stand down, Vasily was informed of Cranberry's unofficial representation of the Pioneer Organization, and their need for increased funding to support an expansion of their facilities and staff. Vasily promptly informed her that he would schedule a meeting to discuss the issue, that she should be there for it, and that she should enter the meeting through the door as opposed to the window.

Although Cranberry Branch was strongly insistent that the Pioneer Organization remain separated from Stalliongrad's government 'to prevent undue statist influence' or somesuch, the increased funding has resulted in the organization in effect becoming a loosely-organized branch of the government, with her as the unofficial head in her capacity as liaison. With her officially unofficial position giving constant access to the public in an unofficial official capacity, she provides a more friendly and approachable way for people to approach the government.

Cranberry's enthusiasm for education has resulted in Vasily being encouraged to set the first day of the school year as an officially-recognized holiday.

Shock! Horror! Disaster! Governor Teafeather, the griffon who has been single-handedly preventing Nova Griffonia from collapsing into chaos, has been shot on the steps of her own home! With the assassin escaping without a trace, the tensions that had been papered over have exploded, with chaos in the ruling council and constant violence in the streets.

This, of course, presents a wonderful opportunity for us. The GPP, although well-organized and dedicated, is not likely to come out on top compared to the Harmonists and more authoritarian elements such as the PGI and their Falcon paramilitaries. The Supreme Soviet is debating as to whether or not to support our comrades directly, or to not interfere in Nova Griffonia's internal matters and avoid angering them.
