[x] Assist the Griffonian People's Party

Post incoming soon, but first:

@Yard1. The demobilization mechanic you put in is great and all, but it causes Nova Griffonia to have repeated civil wars against one-province zero-division communist revolt tags once Teafeather is assassinated. Maybe have the decisions not trigger while the 'Political Chaos' NS is up?

[X] Assist the Griffonian People's Party

A closed session of the Supreme Soviet has agreed to begin sending assistance to the GPP. Although a sizable faction were advocating for direct military intervention, Vasily hopes that intervention will not be necessary, and has restricted the initial assistance to propagandists and supplies.

"As your body grows bigger,
Your mind must flower,
It's great to learn,
Because knowledge is power!

He's Comrade Rocky,
A chip off the block,
Of your favorite schoolhouse,
Schoolhouse Rock!"

(Credit goes to @Asami for this particular rewrite)

As a part of our planned Knowledge Day celebrations, a number of musicians have gotten together and composed a number of educational-themed songs to be broadcast over the radio.

Not technically related to us, but the local left-anarchists managed to seize control of Greifwald a while back. Thought y'all would find it entertaining.

Beakolini shows his true face! After shoring up his support, the bastard arrested the socialists in his coalition and outlawed their parties. Any communist movements still in the country have been forced underground, with many of their membership outright joining the damn PNF. Traitors!

The support has been organized and sent. Consisting of experienced political agitators and organizers, pamphlets and programs, we have also sent supplies of a more unsavory nature. A revolution is no tea party, after all, and the street brawling has only gotten worse recently. Weapons and 'advisors' are likely to be welcomed with open arms.

Apparently Cranberry and Nestor hit it off recently, with the two of them presenting a joint proposal to Vasily for the Pioneers to start giving young ponies rudimentary military training. Purely a voluntary program, mind. We're not about to start conscripting children here. But rudimentary knowledge about how to handle firearms, survive in the wilderness, and work together? It's fun, and teaches them useful skills.

Well. It seems we've sent our assistance just in time, as the Nova Griffonian military under Grand Marshal Erwin Highhill has just seized control of the country. Already efforts are being made to crack down on any dissent, with the Communists and Harmonists both in uproar. This is deeply worrying, to say the least.

And our worries are confirmed. One of Highhill's first acts was to arrest the volunteers we sent over to assist the GPP under suspicion of treasonous activity. When the public found out what had happened, there was an uproar. Already there are calls for direct military intervention, and we have begun to move our forces to the border. For... security purposes.

The incident has indirectly resulted in the Ready for Labor and Defense program, Cranberry and Nestor's brainchild for the Pioneers, becoming an immensely popular program. The two leveraged the boost of public support to institute a secondary, mandatory program of physical education, ensuring a basic level of fitness among the Pioneers.

The Supreme Soviet has met yet again. This time open to the public, and for the first time being broadcast to the nation by radio, this first meeting for dealing with the crisis was one of the loudest on record. The representatives were arguing furiously as to what Stalliongrad's response to Highhill's actions should be, with the only agreement being that it should be severe. Embargo and denunciation at minimum, outright war at worst.

As if to pour yet more fuel on the fire, it came in during the middle of the first day of meetings that the Wingbardians had not stopped at banning communism. In fact, they've outright changed the election laws to effectively ban any and all opposition parties whatsoever! With seats being assigned by the prime minister of the previous majority party after elections, regardless of results, the last pretenses of Wingbardian democracy have been stripped away.

The Koznan Group has been requesting additional funding as of late. In fact, Vasily has determined that it would be a much better idea to organize a full-scale Research Facility out of the old Princely University.

The Supreme Soviet, even after nearly a month of argument, is still undecided as to the specifics of what to do about Griffonia. After finally losing patience, the General Secretary has taken it upon himself to resolve the issue, sending a message to Erwin Highhill himself. Vasily has written it with his usual bluntness, with the core demand being that the dictator Highhill is to immediately release the unlawfully detained citizens of Stalliongrad as a prelude to any military withdrawal.

Erwin's reply consisted one sentence.

"Come and get them, if you can!"

After Vasily read the response out loud in the Presidium Chamber, the Supreme Soviet unanimously voted for an immediate declaration of war on Nova Griffonia.

Sorry for the cliffhanger ending folks, but I don't have the time tonight to go though an entire war. It probably won't be long, though, so you'll get it tomorrow.

We are aware of that issue, but it's not going to be fixed considering that Stalliongrad is undergoing a rework, and its relations with Nova Griffonia will be completely redone. Sorry for the inconvenience :(

War update is slightly delayed on account of having to do it all over again to ensure Nova Griffonia doesn't go down the Coup tree, thus locking out the communist tree. There is something to be said for Kaiserreich's decision-handled occupations.

Stalliongrad 10 (The Northern War)

Luckily enough, the Nova Griffonian army was tied up in the capitol, attempting to maintain the Junta's control. Furthermore, the countryside was firmly under the control of various partisan forces, hindering the military's efforts to travel. The initial invasion force was met unopposed.

It took almost a week for troops to begin to report sizable numbers of enemy divisions opposing them, and those that they could see had clearly been rushed to the border, and were unprepared for fighting.

Finally, fighting proper began slightly less than two weeks after the initial declaration of war. We held the overall advantage in troops and manpower, but it was clear that the Griffons were going to give us a good fight.

With the war lasting nearly a month, Vaslily delivered a public speech by radio broadcast declaring the objectives of the war. In his eyes, the goals were the liberation of Nova Griffonia's people from Erwin Highhill's tyranny and the establishment of a new state under socialist principles in the north.

Also. Localization. We are not fighting Stalliongrad, we are Stalliongrad.

The fronts as of mid-February. Although we are making progress pushing east, efforts north have stalled, as the Griffon troops have dug into the forests and are heavily entrenched.

New tank divisions were being organized to take advantage of our new technological research in the area.

It was quickly becoming apparent that the weaponry of the Union needed improvement. In addition to new designs for portable automatic weapons, unicorn researchers had discovered methods of storing magical energy inside of crystals. The energy could be then released in predetermined fashion, effectively allowing any pony with the appropriate equipment to cast simple spells.

Nestor Lunin was also delivering valuable field experience back to Red Army Command, allowing for the development and fine-tuning of the official army doctrine. As the prototype tank division was clearly showing success, it was determined that tanks would be the thing to focus on in the future. Advanced maneuver and high speed from armor allowed for the creation of impressive breakthroughs, which the regular infantry would then take advantage of.

The Griffonian Empire has shrunk yet again, but have apparently decided enough is enough. They have gone to war to maintain control of their nominal vassals.

Fronts toward the end of March. Nova Griffonia's still-unpopular dictatorship is having immense difficulty finding recruits for the army, which when combined with the large-scale partisan sabotage has resulted in them beginning to effectively running out of troops!

In actuality, this is because I had to console over to them earlier to prevent the aforementioned civil war caused by the demobilization mechanics, and it resulted in them being forced into the civilian economy and volunteer army laws. This had the unintended side effect of making the war a lot easier than it otherwise would be.

The nation was shocked to hear of Altidiya's death last night. Her health struggles with tuberculosis had finally caught up with her, as she died peacefully in her bed last night. A state funeral is being organized, and will be scheduled for after the war's completion.

The Griffonian Empire has easily won their war. The rebellious vassals have been annexed, and are being integrated into the Empire proper. In addition, the Longsword-Hellquill war is continuing apace, with our pony brethren having managed to trap several of Hellquill's divisions.

Fronts as of April. Partisan attacks have resulted in the Griffonian position in the forests being weakened, which we have taken advantage of. We surrounded and cut off several of their divisions, which were either destroyed or surrendered to us.

Fronts as of May. We have taken the gates of Nouvelle Aquilia, one of Nova Griffonia's two major cities. The manpower crisis combined with equipment shortages is beginning to cause Nova Griffonia's army to collapse outright.

The current state of the war. It has become clear that, although we are making progress, we still could be doing better. Nestor's constant reports back from the front has resulted in Red Army Command making various adjustments to the organizational structure of the Red Army, in the hopes of fine-tuning it.

Wittenland, a member of the River Coalition, has finished yet another one of their magical duels for leadership, with the reformist Queen White Star winning out against a former serf turned wealthy merchant.

The front as of mid-June. We have taken and mostly secured the south, and are beginning a hard push towards the capital of Weter.

Hellquill and Longsword have signed a cease-fire agreement. Although it is clearly not going to last, they now have an opportunity to collect themselves and prepare for another go.

Our prototype tank division has managed to sieze Weter! Highhill had fled the city by night, and the rest of his army surrendered en masse as the sun rose on the thirtieth of June.

Heinrich Redtail, the leader of the GPP, had managed to survive the purges and was leading partisan efforts in the area around Lake Kingsmere when we found him. He has been invited to lead a new government for the Griffons, organized under socialist principles, and with our active support.

Production of the new PPSh-10 model submachine gun has begun. Although it did not see use in the Northern War, the proletariat must have the best equipment available to defend themselves.

And the shooting has restarted between Longsword and Hellquill. That didn't last long.

Production of the new Magical Weapons has begun. These prototypes are still unreliable, and are likely to only be given to special forces and other elite units.

A major issue noticed during the Northern War was that of our air force. It is, put simply, woefully outdated. A number of air force veterans have been put to work with Prolet-Air, in order to modernize our fighters.

Altidiya's funeral was today. Accompanied by a military parade, her body was laid to rest in her hometown of Severokholm. Vasily gave a somber speech, saying that although he often disagreed with Altidiya, he always thought she had the best interests of the people at heart.

As it happens, there is a movement among the citizens of Severokholm to rename the town after their late hero. Vasily himself is apprehensive about the idea, as he feels that memorializing the person of Altidiya as opposed to her accomplishments is… missing the point, somewhat. However, he is willing to accept the request if they insist.

[ ] Change The Name To Altytown
[ ] Leave Severokholm As It Is

Also. Localization. We are not fighting Stalliongrad, we are Stalliongrad.
Regarding that localisation issue - do you mind PMing me a save before you took the decision? It would make it much easier to fix, because the localisation is dynamic and should change depending on the target country.

Does this actually "do" anything?

Having binged this in night, I am very much interested.

Why deny the people what they want?
