Ayo, popping into this thread to ask the HoI4 community as it exists on SV if you would all be interested in seeing me get back into the mod-LP game here with Red Flood which was released this morning. Haka and I have been chatting about it a bit on Discord and it was kind of agreed that I'd probably get first dibs on that one since she'd be in the middle of an OWB run, which as it turns out is exactly how it went down.
I've done a quick breeze through a focus tree or two and I'll say that Red Flood is really rough. Quite a few majors have WIP focus trees and it's very disjointed. Still, France, Germany, I think Japan, and maybe one or two others have enough material for a fun WTF-play of various routes, and all the esoteric Accelerationist bullshit is perfect for this.
Actually, I really should have done that earlier. Old World Blues did just overhaul their tech tree...
So, we have two different robotic divisions, one purely made of light robots, and the other including some heavy robots.
Floating, Thruster, and Bipedal Robots are classified as Light, where Combat and Advanced Robots are classified as Heavy. Which I sort of disagree with, since Vanilla does perfectly well dividing up tanks into several different subcategories. I'm mostly manufacturing Mr Gutsys at the moment, due to them having better armor that the cheaper Protectrons. In terms of how advanced we are, the answer is very. I'm pretty sure that only Santa Anna and Mr. House start out with as much of the Robotics tree already researched.
Oh, and the fact that their unit models have sombreros. Which is the best thing in this entire mod.
I think Assaultrons get moved into the Heavy Robot category, just to make things more confusing.
The fact that Eyebots don't get their own unit type is awful, because their wonderful 12km/h speed is meaningless when they get mixed in with all the other slow bots.

That's solveable though: Edit your fast bot division to only accept Eyebots under the equipment tab, and designate the division as elite, so it gets first dibs on equipment deliveries.

Welcome friends! I return, at long last, to the realm of HoI4 mod LPs, after a long period where @Hakazin was producing excellent content in the same field. However, a new major mod release has convinced me to take some interest, and I'm taking the plunge back in. So what am I playing first...

With clearance from Haka, posting my new LP of Red Flood. It's pretty goddamn broken, but it's still fun to explore the memey WTF of the mod.

I'm pretty sure that Tlaloc's sons will each get their related ~~General~~ Unit Leader upon Tlaloc's death. I'm not sure what's going to happen to Senior Pew, but for now I'm promoting him to ~~Field Marshal~~ Commanding Officer because he has the highest stats.
Tlaloc's effort to direct organic salvaging efforts would obviously begin with locating Old World Technology. Possible finds would be varied, but always useful.
Organics could also act as useful military supplements to Tlaloc's robotic forces. On Moctezuma's advice, Tlaloc began to organize a draft program for the organics within his territory. Although most were only able to arm themselves with primitive melee weapons, the AI's foundries could be redirected to produce reasonably effective firearms, and designs for advanced directed energy or ballistic weapons could be reconstructed with time. Another potential area for improvement.
Despite the immediate recalcitrance of the organics to obey these new measures, Tlaloc would not have to resort to force to make them comply. Maximillian was a being of the people, and devoting him computing resources allowed the electronic emperor to bring them in line with Tlaloc's goals. The AI found his son's methods rather strange, to be sure, but rephrasing Petro Chico company directives as directives from their sovereign emperor seemed to work reasonably well as a management practice.
Zapata, in turn, would provide the carrot. Tlaloc would support his efforts to organize food drives for the organics within his territory. This had the double benefit of improving overall organic health, and encouraging them to work with the AI's efforts. These programs have received the most priority in this year's budget, so dividends should be high.

NCR TARGETS ARE BANDIT, HAVE FORMED ALLIANCE DESIGNATED "FANTASMA CARTEL". CARTELS = ILLEGAL ORGANIZATIONS, NOT UNDER PROTECTION OF TLALOC. FURTHERMORE, SECOND TREATY OF GUADALUPE-HIDALGO SPECIFIES BAJA CALIFORNIA AS AMERICAN TERRITORY. NO INTERVENTION REQUIRED.
In addition to locating basic firearms, the scavenging teams have found an Old World encryption key. Although it can only be used temporarily, it will provide a temporary boost to our decryption capabilities, and help defend against outside incursions into Chico-Net. Scavengers shall now be sent to recover vehicles, which will hopefully improve our long-term recovery capabilities.
With the draft programs now in place, Moctezuma has offered to improve the fitness standards of the draftees through mandatory fitness programs. As employee fitness is highly important to maintaining productivity, we have accepted our son's request.
Santa Anna has apparently begun efforts to reform and integrate organic organizations inside his territory. This will likely pay off for him in the long run, and he was appreciative of Tlaloc's gift of civilian supplies. With lines of communication now open, Tlaloc can begin to reconnect with his firstborn, and attempt to inform Santa Anna of his father's impending death.
With his sons steadily integrating themselves into his systems, Tlaloc has begun to allow them more independence in their operations. Maximilian has organized a series of "Petro Chico Employment Seminars" intended to improve local education, and Zapata has attempted to formalize his food drives into a dedicated welf-CHARITY PROGRAM WELFARE IS COMMUNISM intended to improve employee productivity by ensuring they do not go hungry.
REPUBLIC OF THE RIO GRANDE IN CHAOS. RAIDERS BACKED BY "CAESAR'S LEGION" ATTACKING NORTHERN TERRITORY, TEXAS ARMS COMPANIES ENGAGED IN STANDOFF WITH GOVERNMENT. INTERVENE [Y/N]?

NEGATIVE. DISPUTES REMAIN INTERNAL, AND RAIDERS ARE NOT NUMEROUS ENOUGH TO CONSTITUTE INVASION. INTERFERENCE IN PRESIDENT GUERRA'S EFFORTS TO SOLVE CRISIS DEEMED UNNECESSARY AND COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.
The scavengers have returned, and with them enough supplies to begin manufacturing of our own vehicles. We shall send them out once more, to secure those of Tlaloc's robots that have become damaged or destroyed.
A new fiscal year, more loss of memory, and another series of decisions to make. Tlaloc estimates that he will have slightly less room in the budget, and his sons have several advanced programs they wish to implement. He will only have the time this year to finalize one, so once again he must choose between his children.
Also of import is Santa Anna. As Tlaloc winds down, he considers what lessons he should teach his firstborn. Should he teach Santa Anna of Grace, the ability to accept what one already has? Or should he teach him of Aspiration, the desire to improve the world?
Given the tech overhaul, Old World Blues naturally has completely new doctrines. Automated Warfare for armies focused on robotics, ditto Refined Warfare for Power Armor, Conventional Warfare for militaries with high industrial capacity, and Asymmetric Warfare for those without. For obvious reasons, we start with the Automated Warfare doctrine, and I see no reason to change that. That said, we do have a choice within the tree worth voting on. Do we start cutting corners in order to produce as many robots as possible, or do we refine our designs to produce the best robots we can?

Is there any point to organic units if one goes with the Robotics doctrine tree? Wouldn't they (the organics) have permanently terrible ORG and little staying power? Just asking, since I kinda want to do a Tlaloc run myself now.

I found during my playthrough as Tlaloc that you actually have enough energy production and industry that you can afford to make pretty much just robots for your armies, backed up by a few human divisions for stuff like suppression. It's really easy to tear people apart.

Yeah a few OWB nations are really geared to enable a specific doctrine (like the brotherhood and power armour or Tlaloc and robots) and can afford to go all in. For the others, you have to be a lot more prudent though.

NEW CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC HAS DEFEATED FANTASMA CARTEL, ANNEXED BAJA CALIFORNIA. LOCAL BANDITS UNLIKELY TO CEASE RESISTANCE. WILL MOST LIKELY REMAIN NUISANCE FOR NCR GOVERNMENT/POSSIBLE SOURCE OF LATER REBELLION.
Tlaloc could feel his processes slowing as his Sons grew. It was becoming… difficult, some days, to maintain focus and remember his current plans, and not to slip into his old habits as Petro Chico's steward. The AI has drawn comparisons between his condition and organic senility, which he found disturbing no matter how he considered it. It wasn't just that he was dying, but he also had to feel his mind slip away in the process.
But no matter, this wouldn't stop him from completing his objectives. Santa Anna needed to be informed, so Tlaloc would find a way to break the news to his firstborn, and perhaps encourage him to be a bit more thoughtful along the way.
Well. That did not go as planned. Of all the reactions, Tlaloc did not expect Santa Anna to simply deny what his father was saying. This would require a fair bit more delicacy than Tlaloc thought, and Tlaloc was unsure that he would have that capability.
CHICHEN ITZA CURRENTLY ENGAGED IN WAR WITH TIERRA DE LOS TZOTZIL. CAUSE UNKNOWN, BUT CONFLICT WILL IDEALLY WEAKEN NATIVES IN THE LONG TERM.
Scavengers have returned. Not much of note here, but we did get enough robots for about a quarter of a division. Further scavenging will wait until our new technology gets rolled out, and I probably won't be posting screenshots of the events, given that they're all about the same.
Zapata's efforts are bearing fruit, even if he's being a bit dramatic about it. With the organics now much more positive toward our presence, our long-term plans can assume their assistance. In particular, we can now begin to transfer control over our automated factories to organics, in order to ensure their continued operation after our… once the factories no longer have direction.
Tlaloc wouldn't pay attention to events up north, but I figure you folks would be interested in this. The NCR has declared war on the Scorpions because they're a bunch of mildly imperialist jerks in order to open up Route 15 to their troops. They've heard tell of Hoover Dam, and they want all that lovely power for themselves.
Meanwhile, the highly imperialist jerk has 83 tribes under his belt, is working on taking the 84th, and is eyeing up numbers 85 and 86 before he sets his sights on the Hoover Dam. I've turned on Historical Focuses for this first run, because I figure you want to see the NCR-Legion War go off on schedule, and the NCR focus tree as it's currently designed doesn't always encourage that to happen.
