The Republic of the Rio Grande appears to be reaching the end of their internal struggles. Assistance from the Brotherhood of Steel has allowed them to hunt down the Legion Raiders plaguing the north, and the crisis in Texas is in the process of being resolved through diplomacy. All in all, a good show for President Guerra.



Okay, Tlaloc clearly must be losing it if he's letting his son organize unions. How the hell Zapata is spinning that to him is beyond me.



Thanks to Zapata's efforts, the organics are now voluntarily joining the armies organized by Moctezuma. Our son, in turn, has been making efforts to improve their training, increasing efficiency and overall effectiveness.



In order to test the new recruits, he has begun plans to retake areas of our domain that have lapsed from our control. The main target of this endeavor would be areas under the nominal jurisdiction of Petro Chico, which Tlaloc is somewhat wary about. However, he is willing to at least consider his son's suggestion, and should have a response once the budget plan for 2277 is finalized.

After some consideration, Tlaloc allowed Moctezuma to go forward with his plan. El Seeyo would be unlikely to put up a fuss, and the threat posed by the twin menaces to the south necessitated an expansion of our defensive line, and of our military's offensive capability



Although upon observation, only one of our southern neighbors was of any threats. For reasons yet undiscovered to Tlaloc, the Kalomte of Chichen Itza had been mortally wounded by one method or another. The great southern empire was in chaos, and with a bit of luck would remain that way for some time.

With Nueva Aztlan still unstable, Taloc felt that it would be a good time to check in on his firstborn. Santa Anna's reaction to the news of Tlaloc's impending death had been… inefficient, but surely now that he had some time to process, father and son could come to terms?



Oh.



Oh no. No, no, no, what was he doing? What was his son doing? How was it the fault of the Yankees that Tlaloc wasn't built to last? Yes, he was dying, but this wasn't… How would mindless violence help? What possible purpose could it serve?

This wasn't what Tlaloc wanted Santa Anna to do. Where had he gone wrong?




No, never mind. Santa Anna wouldn't be talked down, not when he was like this. Tlaloc would send the supplies his firstborn had requested, and then… he still had his own assignments to complete. He needed to finish up the tasks his sons were requesting from him. Informing the powers under his protection of his imminent demise, working with Maximillian and Zapata to formalize the self-management programs of the organics within his territory, final adjustments to Moteczuma's military programs… so many things to do. So little time to do them in.



It seems that the Republic of the Rio Grande, despite the threat from Santa Anna, is more focused on the danger to their north. Caesar's Legion, despite their leader's focus to the west, had sponsored several raids into the Rio Grande's territory in the past. President Guerra's family had been a victim of those raids, and revenge against the Bull had been one of his main motivations for seeking office. With his position now secured once more, the would-be bullfighter was turning his gaze to the north.



2278 was arriving, and as expected, Tlaloc felt himself beginning to fray. With his sons now capable of handling Tlaloc's operations, the AI could now focus his efforts on preparing for his fast-approaching death. The traditional organic response would be to give out gifts, and Tlaloc felt that seemed appropriate. Gifts to the organics he had protected, allowing them to protect themselves.
 




The gifts in and of themselves would be obvious. Weapons, power, resources, that sort of thing. But the details were slightly trickier. Generously spreading our gifts had obvious benefits, but Tlaloc's rapidly-decaying memory would be taxed even more than it already was. This could be mitigated by starting the process earlier, but this would leave less time for Tlaloc to finish supplying his sons with assistance for their own projects.




On a related note, Moctezuma and Maximillian had their own requests along the lines of Zapata's. Maximilian had some sort of suggestion for formal organic autonomous self-rule that Tlaloc did not quite grasp the details of, but the direct effects would be more space freed up for expansion and more manpower freed up for military usage. Moctezuma, meanwhile, had his own request for expanding out military manufacturing, which was a concept that Tlaloc found much easier to grasp.




And then there was another doctrine decision to make. Maintaining tight control of our robotic forces would improve coordination and allow us to strengthen their attack capabilities. Meanwhile, improving their ability to operate autonomously would ensure they were less likely to break down, and improve their overall toughness.

Direct Control IIRC gives robots an attack boost, but a defense penalty. Wasteland autonomy improves reliability (really damn important, attrition is hellish in the mountains and jungles of Mexico) and defense. Also, we want to finish the will ASAP, lest we can't get it finished and chaos breaks out.

As you may have guessed, this thread is on something of a hiatus. Mod development is taking up the focus that would have gone to putting together updates, so I simply haven't had the time or energy to put something out for this.
