Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

That's true, and we should definitely make use of it.

I just don't think that we should place things that are ultimately supplements ahead of what should be our core skill sets.

To fully exercise the advantages of our build, we should find a way to get something substantial and worthwhile out of Kakuri synergies, both internally and with Lanka, then stack other charms, MA, and sorcery on top of that.

Right now we're basically playing like wicked city is our second key.

In fairness, Kakuri has a lot of very unpleasant and mechanically bad charms in it. We can still build a good stealth/investigation kit out of it though.
Well, I've been talking about a few Kakuri options that would enhance our current abilities.
Sun-Denying Spite is the area-darkness that makes everyone except us very short-ranged.

Shadow-Spite Curse is a great debuff.

Bloodless Murk Evasion one of the better perfect defences.

Don't like Shadow Spite Curse, it takes our entire combat action and rolls willpower instead of any of our excellency attributes. Attacking is more useful usually.

Anyone would've loved to use "A Cold And Lonely World" against one of the Daedalus agents?

False Spring Beckons will allow us to suspend Rosie's suffering, and be a nice recruitment tool for anyone that just wants some relief from being a monster.

Night Swallows Secrets can force others to shut up about what they know about us.

Mocking Murmurs Retort is very situational, but very useful if we ever want to discredit someone. Also cheap.

Naked Wicked Souls is also cheap and you can learn a lot about people from knowing their greatest sin.

We've rescued Cindy, and her pretty blue shoes" you snap as you reach him, disarming the startled old man of his bone knife and making it disappear somewhere on your person. Eying the malevolent blue searchlight, you continue."Can you run, or will we have to carry you?"

Sorry, I meant Seeing is Blindness.
That is a good one, personally I think the most useful addition is Black Mirror Incarnation.

I wasn't terribly impressed with it relative to the ancient sorcery equivalent, but the flexibility and ease of use would have made it very useful.

Being able to whistle up a perfect disguise that lasts until we dismiss it or Molly's anima flares would have made it easier to deal with Daedalus, and work around their attention in the future.

[X] Race to the sub with Lydia, let Harry and Gard deal with the old man
-[X] (Stunt) The water seems to try and keep your feet in it, pushing against you heavier than natural, so you simply avoid it with a jump onto the long rows of tables and cases holding more exhibits. As you close in on the boat your blade stands ready to carve the next, and last, shot to pieces before you reach the guns. The silver glow in the corner of your eyes tells you Lydia is as ready as you are for this.

Not many votes for this one.
There's 17 up on the board right now, and the historical high is only around 25 or so. I wouldn't say it's doing that bad.

The thread is a little dead considering we're in the middle of the capstone to an arc though.

We need a plan for the next step, but we don't really have a lot to go on when planning how to breach the sub, and what to do when we get inside.

Maybe we should burn a question on the exact mechanics of the ritual using Matthews or the u-boat as a target. If we can find the time mid combat anyway.

Edit:

Unrelated aside, but it's too bad we don't have the exorcism ancient sorcery. Banishing the spirit in the u-boat would be pretty funny.

It's a ritual for the willing and restrained prisoners and therefore irrelevant IIRC.
Looking at the spell, it calls out that the reason it requires restraint is that it takes an hour to perform. So that plan would be dead in the water even if we could meet the conditions.

Though I'd argue that blowing the guns off of a grounded ship should count as rendering it helpless, since it can't move or attack any more. :V

I think the upcoming chapter has been discussed to the point where we don't have much else to say about it until we see what actually happens next.

On a slight tangent from the next chapter, we're going to have a boatload of XP to spend after this arc concludes. How set are we on our next purchases?

I don't think it's super fixed, beyond people wanting our next RR to be flight.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to getting wind borne stride, especially if we can swing running to forever into the same purchase block.

Being faster is useful for all kinds of things, but suddenly doubling the results of her initiative rolls and being three times as fast movement wise baseline is a ludicrous jump in ability. Especially with infinite stamina to go with it.

The utility is great, but Molly and her family's reaction to such blatant and significant superhuman growth would be interesting to see.

In terms of things that would be highly useful for solving our problems, black mirror incantation. Imaging how much easier all the sketchy stuff we talk about doing would be if we could change faces multiple times across the same event.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to being able to fly, and it's hard to go wrong with more speed.

Black Mirror Incantation sounds extremely useful. That sort of shapeshifting would give us lots of options and let us act with way more freedom than we currently have. Right now we're constrained by our age, reputation, family, associates, etc., and being able to take on a new appearance neatly sidesteps all of that.

It would be pretty useful, but it's not exactly shapeshifting. It's also pretty expensive.

The Infernal breathes upon the black mirror of
her heart, and becomes someone else.
System: The Infernal spends 1 Essence, spends a mo-
ment concentrating, and dons a perfect illusion which causes her to appear to be someone else. This can be either a real person, or a fictitious individual of the Infernal's de- vising. This illusion fools all five senses. Deduction may reveal the Infernal for an impostor, but imperfections in the disguise itself never will. The illusion persists until the Infernal reflexively dismisses it, or until her anima flares.

I suppose it depends on how you take "perfect illusion". My assumption would be that it uses something like a solid hologram to fill in missing matter in her disguises, and subtracts from Molly by making the out of place bits impossible to sense, rather than actually changing her body.

I could see it going the other way if DP wants to lean on the fluff instead of the system for the sake of simplifying the mechanism though.

It sounds like it's a much higher quality disguise than any Fey glamour anyone in DF is going to use. Probably won't be able to pierce it either.

How much XP would it cost to buy?

If we buy a 5 dot charm, I'm going to have to insist it's either the Artifact charm, or the 1UP charm first.

15 or 20, depending on if it's one of our favored or not.
I think it is, but can't remember off the top of my head, and not in the mood to look.
Whew, that's a lot. I don't think it's going to beat out the other priorities just yet.

Background: Allies 2 (Cyberdevils) for 6XP
At which point we have a hackers collective of cyberdevils actively monitoring network traffic and cracking communications security, email accounts and computers to track people and information for us.

Definitely a stretch goal worth getting IMO if we end up with more than 20XP. But below that, Im planning for Rage Recast Flight(6XP) + 1x Ox Body(3XP) + Viridian Legend Exoskeleton(6XP) + one of [Demonic Primacy of Essence OR Naked Wicked Souls OR Boiling Sea Mastery OR Mercy in Servitude OR Transcendent Lord of Flies](3XP).

Total 18XP.

Thats half of the reason I want flight.
Both the reaction of her siblings, and the subtle but very real support it gives to our efforts to get Charity to treat Molly like an adult scratch that, because Molly will always be her little girl. But to loosen up a little? Maybe?

Hilarity would be if we had Crowned With Fury and simply gave it a command, and it said "Yes Master".
:V

If we had both CWF and Naked Wicked Souls, there was a nonzero chance of subverting EvilBob or Corpsetaker.
Especially with the addition of Mercy in Servitude.
Which would have been hilarious to see. Missed opportunities....

I wonder if we can do that to a Denarian someday.

We probably can't fit a 5 dot charm in, but I don't think those options are strictly better.

We already have what's effectively a 1U from Shintai, or near enough for our purposes. The artifact charm lets us do some interesting stuff, but nothing we currently have the resources for. It's worth doing eventually, but right now it's primary impact would be adding even more things that take up our focus rather than free it.

BMI in contrast is a potential staple charm; something we use all the time to leverage our other charms more easily (like getting access on the fly to plant cyber devils in various places), Improve our security during any sort of supernatural enterprise by not wearing our true face while doing it, and to open up all the other tricks we could pull using the charm and some social skills.

With all the things out there running from Daedalus to pissed off vampires, being able to shed pursuit by dropping a disguise isn't something to underestimate.

It's no "make reality puke it's guts out defending you" perfect defense, but the sheer continuous utility easily puts it in the upper third or fourth of all five dot charms. Especially with how much it'd help with our particular situation.

Not the same thing.
Shih MAs burn Chi/Essence, while a lot of Paths can substitute WP. Some, like Mindshields, are always on.
Hence my question.

Black Mirror Shintai(Shapeshifting/Perfect Disguise) is favored. 15 XP
The City Still Stands(1 UP) is also favored and 15 XP.
