Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

It would be a neat part of a basic , lesser upgrade package for subjects who don't benefit from Olivia's unique heritage and abilities. DP confirmed we can do that, and being able to promise biological immortality is a great selling point.

Now if we can make this a package that breeds true, Olivia could be the first of an entirely new sort of supernatural being.
I think the implication of that post was that it does. Fomor already have empowered children, many of which are actually better off than they are. One of the strongest types they have is exactly that.

Not really quest relevant beyond our ability to make more with the charm though.

Also the Eebs and their hit team against Dresden wearing his standard coat in Changes.
When he was coming out of the FBI building after having been arrested and interrogated.
Not a scratch.

And half-vampire Martin against Duke Paolo Ortega at Wrigley Field. Hit him two or three times, didnt work then either.
Do you recall what weapons they were using? Olivia would have enhanced weaponry.

Successful sniper work requires very specific circumstances for success, both with regards to environment and preptime.
Not to mention that sniper work requires a mindset close enough to homicide that most professional soldiers cant or wont do it.
While I don't think Olivia would have problems assasinating a lot of the Gribbllies out there, most of the time in our circle it's going to be a supporting sniper role probably. Pop up onto some rooftop while Molly draws most of the attention and the rest midline.

Should get unage flaw 'paying' for it with the Avenger flaw.

Here is the flaw list I found
Hmm, the 'Cursed' flaw seems to hold a lot of good examples that would be negated by MiS. Like uncontrollable stuttering at describing things you saw or heard for 2 dots, or tools breaking when you try to use them for 3 dots. Very inconvenient, but manageable if MiS slips for some reason, and those are just examples anyhow.

Edit- On an entirely different note, a funny idea I had is since in the Fivefold Courts fertility is managed by the wheel to prevent overpopulation, birth control is probably fairly rare since the risk is so much lower and even for religious reasons since the world itself seems to decide when more kids are needed- I would imagine a large group of Court natives on earth may have a lot of 'Oopsies' when they realise they are effectively much, much more fertile on earth then in Mollyland, both with each other and earth natives.

Also clubbed foot seems like it works. Nice and obvious effect, but not life threatening.

How about the nightmares flaw like Molly has?

I am much less sure that would work, since its a.. physical mutation, its not something that MiS can really toggle. Like a demerit of having obvious horns sticking out of your head, or a forked tounge, or missing an arm, its not really in MIS's wheelhouse to do anything about. Nightmares though, especially 'natural' ones for a demonic species would work perfectlly however.

Martin and Kincaid both used heavy sniper rifles, and we see the rifles onscreen.
Dresden got shot from a car three times with a suppressor while a surrounding crowd of cops made noise; we see the effects, but we dont see the weapon.
Chapter 14

I came out of the doors of the FBI building to find a ring of paparazzi surrounding it, waiting with predatory patience to get more material for their stories. A couple of them saw me and hurried toward me, beginning to ask me questions, thrust microphones toward me, that sort of thing. I winced. I was still pretty tired, but it was going to play merry hell with their gear if I got too close to it.

I looked around for a way to get down the sidewalks without messing up anybody's equipment, and that was when they tried to kill me.

I'd been the target of a drive-by attempt once before. This one was considerably more professional than the first. There was no roar of engines to give me a warning, no wildly swerving vehicle. The only tip-off I had was a sudden prickling of the hairs on the back of my neck and a glimpse of a dark sedan's passenger window rolling down.

Then something hit me in the left side of my chest and hammered me down onto the stairs. Stunned, I realized that someone was shooting at me. I could have rolled down the stairs and into the news crowd, put them between myself and the shooter, but I had no way of knowing whether the shooter wanted me bad enough to fire through a crowd in hopes of getting me. So I curled into a defensive ball and felt two more heavy blows land against me: one of them on my ribs, the second on my left arm, which I'd raised to cover my head.

There was an exclamation from below, and then there were several people standing over me.

"Hey, buddy," said a potbellied cameraman in a hunting jacket. He offered me a hand to help me up. "Nasty fall, there. You still in one piece?"

I just stared at him for a second, the adrenaline coursing through me, and realized that the cameraman - all of the newsies, in fact - didn't even know what had just happened.

It made a creepy kind of sense. I hadn't heard anything. The assassin must have been using a suppressor. There hadn't been any flashes, so he must have done it right, aiming at me through the car window while sitting far enough back to make sure the barrel of his gun didn't poke out suspiciously - and that he never became a highly visible target. I had helped, too, by denying the onlookers the subtle clue of a dead body with little holes in the front of it and big ones in the back. No sound, no sight, and no victim. Why should they think that murder had just been attempted?

"Move!" I said, hauling myself up by the cameraman's paw. I struggled to get higher, to look over the crowd and get a plate off of the dark sedan. It didn't take much more than stepping around a couple of people and standing on tiptoe to get a view of the shooter's vehicle, cruising calmly away, without roaring engines, without crashing up onto the sidewalk or running red lights. It just vanished into the traffic like a shark disappearing into the depths. I never got a clear look at the plates.

While I don't think Olivia would have problems assasinating a lot of the Gribbllies out there, most of the time in our circle it's going to be a supporting sniper role probably. Pop up onto some rooftop while Molly draws most of the attention and the rest midline.
You dont want to be that far out of support range.
Thats how you get swarmed, eat a wound penalty to your dicepools, enter a death spiral and die.
Tanks like Molly who can range with more or less impunity are rare.

Note that we have only ever fought a battle out in the open twice: in Summer, and underwater at Cleveland.
Rooftops are rare where we fight, as is setup time and clear sightlines.

Can we get Olivia a flight ability? It doesn't even need to be very fast, but just being able to hover high above while invisible would make sniping very effective.

Thats for her Familiar to come with. Or maybe subsequent XP.
I cant see a current way to give her a Flight Gift without dropping something more critical to her build.

Besides, like I've pointed out, our fights dont tend to take place in places with unobstructed sightlines.
She needs it for mobility, but not so much for sniping.

Why ever not? It can deal with banefire cancer. Which incidentally might make a good flaw.
Note that it doesnt actually remove the Balefire cancer, it just renders the tumors in permenant remission. MiS wont remove or add new parts of physiology wholesale, the Charm specificly states it works on flaws such as self-inflicted acid, spiritual rot, and mental derragements. It stops any part of its physiology that would actively harm it, but a club foot is more like just having fewer fingers, its a bloody inconvenience but not in MiS wheelhouse. If it was a condition that caused the feet to slowly swell up and calcify over time, becoming worse and worse, then it would.

'Slow Healing' or 'Paranoia' are good examples of 3 dots that would crumple under MiS.. though I like 'Image Obsession' thematically, ties in with both Olivia's insecurities and passions as an 'Appropriate' deragement, though exactally how many dots is up in the air. I would imagine at 5 dots she might frenzy for a hair out of place in the middle of battle, not that it would matter under MiS.

If we had her in Las Vegas I would have voted to send her out to harass Sarah. Might have put some gum in the works of all Sarah's distractions. Long range invisible teleporter should generally be able to keep a distance.

@Yog Any reason why you have Olivia have practically no social skills?

I mean your build has her one dot of Expression, 1 Manipulation and two Charisma.

So she rolls 3 dice if honest and 2 dice if being manipulative, which given her acting career seems odd.

I also noted that you only put 3 Dots into dex which is the god stat of combat for a reason. Especially since the js a sniper and all.

There are trade off and he maxed out the things that are magic and that Tiffany was less likely to improve like wits.

Incidentally I just can't find the list of flaws that Yog seemed to be drawing from. I really want to put up a full flaws alternate plan.

I wouldnt have.
Not in an environment that we were explicitly told that there were Outsiders about.
Clear shot? Take it. But she'd have been in the same position as most of the Hand agents we brought, unless she could fly.

Currently incomplete.

I havent spent ~30% of the XP, and Im still looking at the available fomor powers.
But this should provide a fair idea.
Ive tried to pick flaws as have been characterized in the story so far.

The full thing should be up by midnight, with explanations.
Hopefully.

[X] Y's Plan plus 13 points of flaws and merits
-[X]Flaws
Keeping in mind that all these flaws are suppressed by MIS if she is serving us.
Bizarre Hunger (5pt. Flaw) You need to eat CoD that don't serve Molly.
They've hurt you, and now they'll pay! Someone has committed a crime you cannot and will not forgive, and whenever you get the chance, you'll shower them with red-hot vengeance. This grudge has become your highest priority in life – everything else is merely a distraction. You may put this quest for revenge aside temporarily if you spend a Willpower point in order to do so. Until the guilty parties have been punished, though, vengeance drives you to become that most dangerous of creatures: a mage on a mission that ends only with blood.
You are no longer a friend of Molly as a result your inner demon sets about harassing you at every turn
You are not as spry as you used to be; you must lower any one Physical Attribute score (your choice) by one point. You may take this Flaw once per decade above 40 years of age. (INQ)
Disables unaging merit
-[X]Nightmares flaw (4 points)
-[X]Merits
--[X]Strong Po 4 points
Your mage does not age, ever. Perhaps she drank an elixir in the Mythic Ages, or she tasted the Peach of Immortality, or she ate the Apples of the Hesperides, or she dined on the forbidden savor of mermaid's flesh. Perhaps she was injected with the perfect Iterator nanotech or Progenitor symbiote. Perhaps her body is composed of timeless stone or metal. Perhaps the cause is a complete mystery. Regardless, she remains unchanged as the years pass by, save for scars and accumulated knowledge.
--[X]The Flow of Ki (3-pt. Merit)
You have an unusual ability to move quietly that goes far beyond the norm. Reduce the difficulty on any Stealth roll involving moving quietly by two. You are even able to move quietly over dry leaves. Should the wind blow while you are moving, there is no way to hear you. (PGS)
You were born lucky – or else the Devil looks after her own. Either way, you may repeat any three failed rolls per story, including botches, but you may try only once per failed roll.
Ok it is a mess, but I think I got all the points across.

Only 1 Dot in Firearms? How come?

I also noticed only 3 wits and 2 stealth, when her signature magic is a wits+stealth roll. Being sneaky is a major part of her kit.
Also, for the supernatural flaws, most of them would be unaffected by mercy in servitude. Remember, MiS only restricts traits that are self-damaging, something like 'poison everyone you touch' won't be effected, so things like 'cold feeling skin' or 'changeling eyes' will stick.

They can either be bought down or hidden, sometimes by as simple as wearing glasses, or a Power.
None of them are designed to be major life events.

With Yog's teleport build pinning her is hard to do, and one of the benefits of range is that you have to actually split your forces to try that sort of thing. Which isn't fun when an infernal is clawing at your eyes.

Not many of our fights have involved sniping because we're a melee infernal looking to pick fights that way. Play style is a factor in opportunity.

With her variety of stealth abilities, wits, and some streetwise she'd be absolutely murderous in anything less than one of our big fights, and even then she could do a lot. Her play style would involve a lot of hunting and forcing the offensive to catch people by surprise.

Take Holt as an example. We knew about her and had multiple opportunities where she was in known areas out in the relative open. If we didn't choose to just let her go and strike her at her ritual site (which we seem to do a lot) something like hurling her car into a tree and then having an invisible teleporting sniper put 30 Agg of death ray down range at her as she crawled out of the wreck would have handled that encounter.

Similarly for the Akuma, we spent a lot of time letting the enemy move without interference while we turtled, and even had a plan to meet them at a park for a while.

The Akuma were hunting for food in that time, which means that it's entirely possible that she could turn that around and kill anyone who went out alone short of the big man himself. No reasonable build is going to let her seriously take that fight head on, so it's not really a flaw.

With some subordinates capable of keeping up with her the risk goes down and the effectiveness goes up.

In terms of how difficult this is to set up; out of town neonazis and mind controlled fanatics have both managed it. I think we can make it work in Chicago or other controlled locations, and a more active play style would make her useful when outside of it*.

I could easily see her locking down districts in Chicago on reputation alone. If you hunt in X neighborhoods you just die one day without any way to reply. The only person in the city I don't think she has a credible chance of assassinating with something similar to what @Yog has so far is Molly. Even then if she timed it right and had support it could leave us in a very unpleasant place afterwards.

* There's great synergy with our information game here. We pull the information needed to set up a hit, then send her and her subordinates to carry it out where we aren't stealthy enough to manage it.

Yeah, so far I like Yog's overall vibe of the build better, even if it's a bit top heavy on skills. I do like that 'crack-shot' merit for a type of demon that are natural trickshots with guns though.
