Hmm, if the outsiders are looking to break the masquerade, then I wonder if we could go for the vault where the solar exaltations are being stored and exalt Harry and Murphy.

I believe that the Oblivion War as a concept exists only because there aren't enough ways to permakill things around.

These Old Ones have clearly been bound, banished, put to sleep or otherwise defeated before.
The basic problem is that there doesn't seem to be a better method to truly put them out of the game than to have humanity forget them.

That whole thing becomes completly obsolete when the Old Ones have to play by the rules that a defeat can lead to them getting killed for good.
There's simply no need for an Archive anymore, at least not with its current tasks.

In fact it should be possible to go through the list of ancient evils and put down any that are still chained or sleeping for good as a little side-activity for Exalted or Circles of them.

Eh You might need to kill nigh infinite horrors if we're talking stuff beyond the outer gates. Not even mentioning some of these things might be far more unkillable than others. Its not like we've been dealing with the actual god equivalents of outsiders yet. Well what are considered gods to the outsiders, old ones, whatever. Could go for a dip in the pacific if we ever wanna fight cthulhu. Though I don't feel safe doing that until we're minimum essence 5 and appropriately stacked and prepared and even then I'm unsure murder is an option with certain beings.
 
I think that Molly might now hold the record for most favors held from the Fairy Courts.

Easily. I'm sure that arcane dynasties have died and been damned for the chance at even one. I'm very much hoping to burn favors on both sides to just raise our standing with both of them simultaneously. Favoring one or the other might create a polarization effect and more than anything we just need to be able to deal with the courts openly, quid pro quo, as peers.

The fae courts as they are like only like 1500 years old max probably less. There have been zero arcane dynasties. :p

As they are. We've been rocking some variant for all of human history, Mother Winter probably remembering goddamn neanderthals. And if we aren't having enough arcane dynasties lately then clearly wizards need to be having more sex.

Two Summers since the Epic of Gilgamesh, precisely one Winter even before going by canon. They might be part of this cycle of the universe...rather than a different kalpa entirely... but that is more than enough for any talk about this universe.

Imma note by her nature mother winter was once a queen like mab.well at least as far as I know it's literally part of her title the queen that was.
 
For that matter, how do you think the Mothers and Queens and Ladies established their original base of power? "That big old sacrificial, power-sucking stone table in Tir na noth isn't there for its primitive decorative aesthetic." (Not likely our Mab's back story, but the original Mother Queen Lady backstory)
The parts in quotation marks are from butcher. given I'm fairly sure this is different here since Maeve's been around since Camelot instead of only being a few hundred years old like canon.

Or the idea of 'mother' and 'queen' was invented during her reign. The mantle molded into place, whether or not it existed as something different in the millennia before. Its kind of like the chicken and the egg paradox being answered by the idea that the concept of 'chicken' is vaguer than we think and that if you look backwards, eventually, you start seeing things with scales and teeth.

Whatever came before her was something but it wasn't the court we know. I don't think that matters much though. Not to my statement or our current struggles or anyone we know.

At least until we are making that woman a better walking stick. The woman deserves to not only walk without pain, she deserves to dance.

Oh it doesn't matter much and is literal ancient history but I did find proof mother winter was made at the same time as queen and lady.
 
I will say this much, the fey courts are older than 1500 years, Mab and Titania alone have been queen that long. The fey themselves show up in the Book of Invasions, they are a lot older even when you discount how oddly familiar they sometimes feel.

If we are talking canon mab and Titania weren't queens until at least past 1000 ac. Anyways mostly talking about canon and asides I'm fairly sure the fae courts as they are in Dresden files aren't even just the second iteration but like something like third or fourth or more.

I'm not sure where you got that, but it would be really odd seeing as even in canon Mab knew the original Merlin. In any case in this quest as presented by Bob they have both been queens for 1500 years to match up with the Arthurian numbers.

Harry is part of practically the closest thing to a wizard dynasty that we know of. McCoy is part of the apprentice line tracing back to Merlin, and was the head of the wardens before becoming the Blackstaff and a Council member. McCoy's daughter was an influential wizard running around, interacting with powerful people, and then she had a wizard son. A son who apprenticed to McCoy, who has become Warden Dresden, is the influential Wizard of Chicago, is being scouted for Winter Knight, has good relations with the White Court, potential future Warden of Merlin's prison, etc.

Harry is descended both by blood and apprenticeship from power, has been raised to power through a combination of his actions and the actions of those he is descended from, and is partly following in his family's footsteps. Wizard dynasty.

Im not sure if Molly knows that Titania bears Harry a personal grudge IC; Lily knows but Im not sure if Molly does.
Nonetheless, its not something to discuss or press her on in public.

By the way doesn't that make titanias daughters death a far bigger deal here than in canon as it would mean that none of the positions have ever changed? Well position wielders? Since Maeve is way older here and Titania and mab would have been queens since near the beginning. Also because a queen is needed to take the place of a mother and if a queens never changed position since the beginning it would mean no mothers ever changed either right? So it would mean Harry's the first to murder one of their members?

  2. None, they were just shards and Nemesis was doing its best not to put too much of itself into doomed links, the only reason it did not just pull its tendrils out entirely is that it is psychologically incapable of doing that as it is an act that goes against both its intimacies.
