Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I always figured we would move training into the hell anyway. Much easier, to get a proper training room, with locked doors, cold temperature, and a few miles wide, with training tools rated for people that can punch a river in half.

By the way I wanna note michaels canon situation is his good ending if he wasn't crippled he wasn't going to get a good ending. Word of Jim himself basically says that was his good ending.

Judging by the vote... It seems we are going for the "John Constantine" route after all. That is to say buffing and bringing someone who can't handle the sort of shit Molly(Exalt), Lydia(Exalt), Michael(Divine Intervention), and Dresden(Protagonist) get involved in but wants to get involved anyway. Then having to account for him when he starts asking to go along in some capacity or worse still, goes off without asking(with Lydia prob) because we refuse to actually address the core issue.

Then if something happens to him or those around him because he can't keep up with the kind of nonsense we've been dealing with and voided his Angel protection.. well it'll all be worth it because we "respected his agency".

Smh.
I'll say Dresden himself really isn't ready for most of the situations he's in. He often plays agonist beings he has absolutely no right to fight with and barely gets away with quick thinking, detective work, and blasting his way out of trouble. Heck even shit like the logo garou is still a threat to him basically at all times.

I mean maybe all the evil in the world that can be handled by a sword could be vanished? It's possible with our help.

Metaphysically there should be no issue with it, they are human enough for it, and they can work with cybernetics even demonic ones as long as you do not utterly change your nature, but you would have a rather hard time finding a shih master willing to teach in hell.
Do we have our own magical martial arts (armed or unarmed) tradition in the courts? City of Swords probably has some manner of mystic combat art tradition.

Really if there are any World of Darkness splats that don't fit into DF for whatever reason we can likely put them in our kingdom.

Yes actually. Thematically it would look something like this:

Fivefold Hollowing Style

Drawing as it does from the five aspects of Sanctuary this style is favored by warriors and scholars of the City of Laws alike, though many of the magicians of its sister cities consider it antiquated as it is brash, a brutal weapon for a more primitive time. The Five Aspects are:
  • Civilization, the House of Law, representing the city, concerned with the teamwork and unity of mind, taught first for it is the aspect which most resonates with mind of man, tocatli, gurvel and seta alike
  • Savagery, the House of Courage, which empower the martial artist with the cunning and the strength of beasts.
  • Howling, the House of Domination, concerned with channeling the raw power akin to Great Storms into devastating, but exhausting elemental attacks
  • Darkness, the House of Serenity, drawing its inspiration from the empty stillness beyond the boundaries of Sanctuary it grants the practitioner the power to walk unseen, unheard, even unfelt, though at the risk of losing themselves utterly as they they fail to reconcile the paradox of their own existence. Only the true master of the style can learn Arts of this aspect and even they do so sparingly. It is not the nature of material beings to contemplate the void
  • The Hidden Way, the House of the Forbidden. No one has actually mastered this aspect, indeed it is only theorized to exist from the fragmentary writings of long dead explorers who braved the Labyrinth and learned of its secrets. As these bold souls delved ever deeper they did not return
That is all Molly knows about it from looking around the noopshere, she does not inherently know it because it is not a part of the world, it is something the people in her soul developed on their own. In terms of power it is somewhat stronger than the Shih arts, but dependent on having some kind of spirit bound to you or having your Po unlocked.

Just realized someone we really should bring into our kingdom. That one shamen guy in a relationship with a spirit that is slowly killing him. Not a problem if they immigrant.

Well, obviously we wouldn't call it hell. And they are indebted to us. And we are a socially oriented exalt.
My understanding was that a lot of the apparent properties of our world are based on the thousand hells even though it's really a jotun body. Which, in combination with all the infernal essence infusing the place, make it read that way on direct inspection.

The more familiar someone is with the thousand hells the more telltale signs they'll see, with the possible exception of a person who's rolled inhumanly well and seen underneath the Halloween mask Molly's soul is wearing.

I could be wrong about all this, but supposing I'm roughly correct they'd know as soon as they stepped foot in the FCF.

Pretty sure Bronzetongue is right there.

Guessing that something is a Primordial world-body should be impossible with the knowledge-base of a regular Wizard or lesser Sorcerer.
You would need to know lore that is simply unavailable in this world.

The best guess someone could make is that our world is what a Yama Hell with a non-corrupted ruler would look like.

Arc 9 Post 36: Among Hounds and Ravens
Among Hounds and Ravens

25nd of November 2006 A.D.

Edgewater Dogpark is a park, made for dogs, at the water's edge a nice one with plenty of open ground for the various dog friends to romp 'round in, but still. Perhaps it was the very on the nose naming that made Lydia choose to bring her raven there, to make things a bit more interesting. Midnight certainly seems to be doing his level best to liven things up in recognition of the age old kinship of canine and corvid, snatching up toys and sticks and tossing them about in good fun for the entertainment of dogs large and small, at first worrying their owners. Soon enough they are taking out their phones and filming this stuff and much to Lydia's amusement her familiar seems to find this state of affairs most pleasing.

"I didn't even know ravens could puff themselves like that," you laugh as the bird in question is literally sneaking looks at the lady with the camera behind the nearest bench who is herself 'trying not to spook him', something that could not be farther from his feathered head.

"You learn something new every day," your friend replies, legs tucked under her on the bench in what really should be an uncomfortable position, but seems to suit her better than sitting normally. "I will go first since I'm sure to have the least interesting story."

Normally you would demure, but in this case there really is no way to argue the point, so Lydia continues: "Charles Barrowil is a piece of... work. Poor Eleanor nod only did not have a leg to stand on in a divorce court, she did not have a floor. Between the per-nuptial stuff..." she waves vaguely towards the waters of Lake Michigan as though consigning all legalese under the waves as as sacrifice. "And the way she presented the way her personal fiances looked on paper, everything was put together so he could destroy her with a flick of his pen. I do not think he even imagined that his wife could leave him as opposed to being cast off, not given his more direct power over her, this was just force of habit or obsession I guess."

"So?" you prompt. "What did you do?"

"Well I started off threatening to put my fist though his heart. He said blah, blah the Court would make me pay for this treachery, I pointed out that would not make him any less dead, I'm the expert on dead."

"You wouldn't actually?" you start halfway between amused and horrified.

"What, on the spot? And break guest right? Of course not, I'm not mad. But he would have to walk around outside his wards at one point and he had no way to ward off ghost spies so I would know when to strike and then..." She draws a line under her throat dramatically. "So then he said that his allies would hunt down the 'slave bitch' because either he was too scared to moderate his language because he wanted to show me how tough and totally not a soft target he was. Since I didn't answer at once he figured that it must be working so he doubled down on 'a human is a talking sandwich' and how his friends would be down with enforcing that. I don't know if you know this but that's not a common position for House Raith, not when it comes to humans they are actually close to, personal physicians, lawyers, personal assistants, secretaries, spouses. It is the kind of thing you keep to yourself and definitely do not drag all your closest political allies into."

It's not hard to figure out where this is going. "You recorded him."

"Yep and I did the legwork in advance to know which of his business and personal connections would really not like to be associated with someone that intemperate, by reason of conviction or ambition. Then I hit him with the list of names after playing back the whole spiel to him. He of course countered that he would not have said all that if I didn't threaten to kill him to which I replied that it had all been hypothetical you know..."

At your somewhat confused look she explains.

"When you want to threaten someone with consequences way over the line without the words technically being an admission that you will do that stuff under the Accords, it's standard double-speak, everyone knows it and everyone translates it in their heads. By those standards I was quite blunt about my intention to remove him from among the ranks of the quick, but now with a recording of him literally screaming about how his associates would torture the woman he is technically still married to it would look like I was just trying to unmask him."

"Are you sure you can count on public sentiment being with you in the White Court? I know they are not the worst but the older they get the more..."

"Oh it's not just a moral thing, not even primarily that. Treating people that close to you as disposable is bad tradecraft when you are trying to keep a low profile," Lydia explains, a satisfied smile firmly in place. "Even Charles isn't as bad as he was trying to convince me he was, but what excuse can he give? 'I lost my temper again with the same person I was already censured for losing my temper once?' He's not going to make many friends that way, or even keep his old ones."

"So what did you get out of the deed, or I guess what did Eleanor get?"

"Seven hundred thousand dollar gift straight into her bank account to wrap things up and visitation rights to the kid, she is nice by the way but scarily sheltered, on weekends. The whole thing was witnessed by Lara Raith. I got her on call. She was very professional about it, didn't laugh once at Charles' implied trouncing."

Silence falls for a moment then: "What about you? Anything earthshakingly loud happen to you?"

You wince. "It wasn't that bad."

"Molly," she gives you a serious look. "I am not the most observant person out there except when it comes to the dead and I heard it loud as thunder ringng in a crypt of brass. If I hadn't recognized it as something you-related I would have broken the speed record back to Chicago to help deal with whatever that was."

"Huh... the way the Merlin talked about it wasn't quite that loud, seers had bad dreams not gongs in their heads." Something is nagging at the back of your mind. "Maybe it's because you are familiar with me? No, not just that, we resonate together, like when we made Bane remember? Your power your Essence feels more like mine than anyone else I encountered."

She nods thoughtfully, her smile less smug recollection and more present warmth

How do you explain all the stuff that had happened in Lydia's absence?

[] Take her to your Palace, maybe you can make a day of it, visit some of the cities

[] Stay here, try to talk things though, your doubts about leavng Broken Seeker alive, your fears about your friends, your unease with being worshiped

The best guess someone could make is that our world is what a Yama Hell with a non-corrupted ruler would look like.
Or maybe a ruler that's being redeemed.

My assumption would be that a Yama King who never fell or indulged in corruptive practices would feel like a regular god. Hades for example is in charge of the good and bad ends of an afterlife, but doesn't come off as a demon.

What lore you need to see the difference is an interesting question too.

It's worth noting that the FCF have their own gauntlet separate from the rest of reality, and is still a living soul as much as it's functionally its own plane of existence.

My bet is that someone who's less of a meathead than Harry could see that, and maybe begin to understand aspects of it if they're particularly brilliant, but that it wouldn't contradict anything about it being a hell.

They'd be doing research from first principles without historical context, it'd 'just' look like a very powerful spirit being very weird, which is par for the course.

[x] Take her to your Palace, maybe you can make a day of it, visit some of the cities

Want to explore the cities. As for MA we should aim to recreate the "Path Of The Arbiter Style" not only is it a great MA but the mindset required to use it is perfect for knights, and other forces of good.
