Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

However much time we spend in our hell, up to 5 days max, we must spend outside our hell before we can return. Assuming a 31 day month and optimizing for time spent in our hell we can spend 15 days a month if we prioritize time there over everything else.

1-5(in)
6-10(out)
11-15(in)
16-20(out)
21-25(in)
26-30(out)

More than that even if we are prioritizing time in our kingdom then we would likey sleep outside of it.

But in general our time limits aren't going to come up often well we are still going to school.

Incidentally our still going to school is feeling more and more silly.

Mind you it doesn't really reset at the end of the month or anything.

No its not.
Social isolation from general society and a lack of social engagement with normal people was very much an issue with Celestial Exalts with regards to mental stability.

Making the same mistake here would be an unforced error.
And thats before counting the additional issues with smoothly navigating modern society without the semblance of a formal education.

1) Note that Molly only gets five days a month in Sanctuary.
So while we definitely need to organize a family outing one of these days, its not really something that we can spend unlimited time on. And I dont really think its possible to combine training time and a family visit.
A few hours here and there is plenty, especially with Charity being Charity. I doubt she'd be comfortable with days of time anyway.

The quote I provided states that he's explicit about being sketchy about stuff that verges on matters of faith, which I think most ppl will concede involves angels.

We'll have to agree to disagree I guess.
Because I'd have to go to more trouble than Im willing to go to atm to look through the books and WoGs for additional supporting evidence to that effect.
Bob potentially being wrong isn't the same as evidence that he actually is. In absence of something specific he's more credible than wild guessing.

I mean we can get a ged it wouldn't be hard the only reason we choose not to is mom. Also you know friends are a thing we have if anything ooc we could interact with them more with less school when outside of school by just hanging out.

Respectfully, its not wild guessing.

Before she was 18, she couldnt legally take a GED in Illnois.
Dropping out of high school six months before graduation in order to get a GED would make very little sense.

Molly has 3 friends.
Four if you count Lydia. I was no social butterfly, but I think I definitely did do better at her age.
The less you actually have in common, the harder you find it to make or keep friends.
Shared experiences and interests are the foundations of most friendships.

We are never going to have a normal job. Or at least nothing where we ever have to apply a resume.
Apply to a job? Almost certainly not.
Need to use the resume as a social entree of sorts? Or to call on the network of contacts developed while attending?
Quite possibly.

Eh I mean we are a social exalt we can keep friends. As for other exalted well they didn't exactly have anything like our development they may as well have had cavemen morals before their ascensions to exalthood when exaltations first started and that didn't lend to comradely with their fellow man.

A GED is basically a waiver stipulating you're not too stupid to fill out paperwork for all practical purposes.

There's also value in normal social interactions with the general public that Molly probably won't have access to if she skips it.

To an extent that applies to college too. It's not like the work is the problem.

Some facades are easier to work with than others. If we want Molly to own significant assets in her own name being a high school dropout will draw attention and close doors before we're in range to apply super socials to them.

[X] Try to persuade him to stay off the radar of the unseen world, it is too dangerous especially given who your father is and what you are

What the problem was the Exalted where under the Great Curse. Exalted are inherently better then mortals, acting like they are not is just wrong.
Exalted are more capable than mortals, not better than them. That's an important distinction.

There is no wisdom excellency as a reminder, exalts pretty frequently used their divinely empowered super brains to make bad decisions faster entirely independent of the curse.

We were never gonna get a standard job so I don't see the issue.

[X] Plan Designing Greatness

It would be supremely hypocritical to deny him this. We have made a great many mistakes, we have grasped for thing that have burned us when people who know better were telling us to go home and be a teenager, and I'm not sure the English language has the words to describe the level of hubris in our actions. We're planning on pulling a Denarian out of Harry and making the woman his literal, rather than metaphorical, roommate and we have a Naaglioshii that is kinda-sorta our friend right now.

Shit, man, we're not in a position to tell somebody off for playing Icarus. We did it even before we got our Exaltation, back before McCoy declared that we weren't human enough to execute. If somebody wants to do something patently unwise all we have a right to do is ensure that they go into it eyes open and then do our damnedest to make sure Icarus keeps his wings on this time. We'll bring gorilla glue and flextape.

This is what humans do. Even when we know best, we can't just act like we know best.

Our best bet is to give him something but to do so slowly enough, arduously enough, that he doesn't go into power-fantasy-mode and fatally lose a fight with a windmill. Training from hell can instill maturity and caution, hopefully, before maturity and caution are necessary for survival. Something that can be built upon but which isn't just handing the kid a loaded gun that any idiot can use, something that intentionally takes work but which has enough promise that he wants to keep working.

Doylist there is literally no instance that will even have us use said doors where a school would be the thing that closes stuff. We are barely able to do actual supernatural stuff with the time allotted to us. Plenty of normal business deals with people without high school diplomas even in the billions of dollars. No one we will ever care about will reject us on this basis and we are not gonna even attempt anything involving them.

OOC: How much of Molly's reaction to Golding's work and philosophy and how much is the Exaltation I will leave up to the imagination, but I will say that all parts of her agree in detesting the notion that external coercion is needed to control man's base nature.

Shame just one more successes and we might have started the beginning of some sort of political movement.

Edit: Actually empathy is a key skill so we got 6 successes.

We'll have to be careful or else we might be traceable by how many influential political, cultural, philosophical and scientific minds we accidentally inspire via close proximity! :V

The rational thing would be for Daniel to stay as a supporting mundane, but the thing is... I don't think we can convince him of that at this point. At least without resorting to borderline-mind-control Exalted social combat. And while I don't think refusing to empower him would be "violating his agency", that would.

And it's important to remember, that we aren't the only game in town. Dresdenvere is full of entities happy to tempt with power, especially a Knight's son. Best case, he will just convince Lydia to act without our approval. Worse case, he will find it somewhere darker.

And then we will end up exactly in the same place with him endangered, but also in debt to someone we really don't want him to be, or with powers with nasty side effects.

We should be genre savvy enough to try to preempt the "hero's resentful mundane friend/sibling does something stupid out of jealousy of not having powers" plotline, before it has an opportunity to happen.

Have you ever said something clever and soon you found loads of people saying the same thing even people far removed from you? Exalted have that happen to them all the time. Molly is going to be finding book reviews and blog posts that basically directly quote what she said today for the rest of her life until she wonders if she was actually the original.
