Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Out of curiosity how involved do you guys want to be in the character making process? On the one hand I would like to take this slowly since it allows me to get used to the system and it gives you guys the most control over what Molly's skills and powers will be, but on the other hand it would leave us in this frozen moment for five updates and that might be a bit slow for... whatever terrible fate you end up inflicting on the Scarecrow.

Well, considering this is a first time for the both of us (I have read ExWoD numerous times, but haven't played it ever) and we haven't actualize which Splatbook we will be using as the Rulebook (White Wolf's 20th Anniversary Vampires, Werewolves, Dark Ages, etc...) I think that whatever is more easier for you is preferable.

Because unlike normal Exalted, ExWoD does NOT have an in-built turn system or mechanics beyond adapting whichever of the 20th Anniversary Rulebook you choose.

I honestly would choose V20 or DA20 since those are the ones I am most familiar with, but we could go rules lite like Essence from 3rd Edition.

I haven't read Exalted vs WoD yet (though I will if the quest continues), but aren't Infernal Exaltations usually coming after a failure, not in time to save people?

This seems more Lunar-like, holding under bad conditions until the time to act and save your family has come.

I mean Molly just failed a lot, she failed to save her pregnant friend from her drug addiction and messed with her mind, she failed to deal with her magic in a way that would not make her a warlock, she failed to deal with the horrible monster that was just torturing her and she just got the rescue team badly hurt by calling out at the wrong moment.

The exaltation is not supposed to be about you not having any good you can do for positive intimacies, it is about feeling like a failure, to the point that you are willing to accept a little help from... friends on the other side. Or at least that is how I understand it.

Infernal Exaltations do in fact comes whenever you are at your utmost low. It is the poignant failure, of fear, of despair. You've had glory at the tip of your finger... and you squander it, let it slip beneath the sands.

To be an Infernal Exalted is to rise from these failures, to set the world alight with your newfound glory or let others feel the despair that once took-hold your heart.

Also, @DragonParadox, Great Curse or no? Because there is a Flaw that makes it your Exaltation bearing the defiling curse of your makers. It's even the default rule for playing in the Dark Ages.

I'm going to say that giving you the powers of hell, recognizable as such by anyone with even a whiff of magical lore... or you know working eyes when your anima is flaring or your caste mark shines, is conflict enough, especially considering who would are playing and how you are about to introduce yourself to Winter.

Quest general rec - minimize player access to fiddly buttons. Its got a best case scenario of bandwagoning

Themes and archetype work. Fine control tends to become single player or an utter mess

[x] Perfection, your plans had failed, they had hurt your friends and thrown you into this hell, but with this power perhaps now they would not fail and you could make them all happy, all safe.

The way I understood it is that the Infernal Exaltation does not happen in time to actually save the situation you are failing in, with the whole 3-day transformation (at least I think that was it in Exalted E2?).

Infernal is for after the complete failure, when you can't salvage things anymore, only rebuild or take vengance.

I tried running a story but i made the mistake of choosing a solar.

It gets really easy to take care of most mooks in a few shots if you have the charms.

Also question DP, would the excellencies help in utilizing her magics. Because i can see that going really well.

In this case the shard is being less picky since it's not like there are presently a lot of mortals in Arctis Tor, it's Molly Harry or Charity and she fits the bill a hell of a lot better than them. The part where she drove her pregnant friend to catatonia and said freind's boyfriend to paranoid insanity is certainly not salvageable by Molly's understanding of the world and in this continuity the fetch helpfully explained that since despair makes the fear all the sweeter.

How the native magic will react to the exaltation will be revealed IC, I don't want to spoil if

[X] Revelation, of discovering secrets that others do not, of pulling back the skien of the world and making sense of what others think of as chaos or divine plan

OK I think I know how I am going to do it I'll hand out packages of attributes and abilities that tell a story, you know like Warlord of the Brass Sword or hellfire hacker with options for you guys to make your own as a write in if you want.

Nice. Honestly I am most interested in Demonic Primacy of Essence and Golden Years Tarnished Black.

Demonic Primacy is for us bullying any evil spirits that has a lower status than us, or those we've defeated.

And Golden Years is for our bread and butter Social Charm. The fact that it's also a pretty insidious and undetectable Charm (unless you have a Social negator, you're screwed) makes it the best Social Charm for an Infernal.

Now for the Crown though... I am undecided.

OK, looks like we are going to be a magic nerd infernal.

[X] Triumph by any means, the thrill of rule-breaking of knowing deep down that it's not forbidden if you don't get caught
[X] Sundering, you are going to break this wretched place and you are going to feed the Scarecrow the the fires of you wrath, only then will you be free

Arc 0 Post 2: A Moment's Dream
A Moment's Dream

As you take the hand of the demon it grasps you into a hug. Why did I think demons worked with handshakes? You wonder distantly, the demon's flesh seems to grow around you like a living shroud. It should have been scary, it should have been disgusting, the sound of its pulsing blood all about you... but it wasn't, it was comforting, like when you and Rosie had taken blankets to the tree house to sleep up there when you had been little and you had told scary stories to each other, and read books under the covers for the atmosphere, pretending you were like Marry Shelly and Lord Byron.

If you had just known how mind magic worked Rosie wouldn't have been hurt. The thought worms its way into your thoughts like a maggot, if you had been smart enough, if you had been clever enough, if someone anyone had told you how it was supposed to work, but they hadn't, they hadn't and now you were here making deals, listening to the heartbeat of the demon, slow yet somehow you know infinitely quick.

"I have a name mistress," the prim voice rang in your thoughts. "Demon makes for a poor signifies since it carries implications of wanting to harm you. It always makes me start and twist around in a knot, not that being twisted in a knot can't be a perfectly acceptable thing at the right time but..."

Was am absent minded demon better than one that knew what it was doing?
you wonder distantly, as in a dream. "What is your name?"

"I am Usum, but an ember of the King Who Was Before Kings, the Sublime Tyrant of Verdant Flame..."
The voice whispers what might be a name into your thoughts, but you hear it not, for you slip into the dreaming held in the cupped hands of the moment, you dream of better times, of brighter times with your family, of school, of things learned. And you dream of things that had been forgotten, of the hidden meanings under the roots of everything, worn almost to dust, of the kindling of stars and the deaths of galaxies, of the sundering of souls that were as legions...

What do the whispers say?

[] The Brazen Blade
The lessons your father give you, how to protect yourself, how to run if you most, the lessons your mother taught how to listen how to speak are now reforged with deadly purpose

[] Emerald Flame World-Smith
Behold the chugging of engines and the electrical dance in hearts of silicon, you see that all the world is mechanism and souls the fire at its heart

[] The Shadow That Speaks
When you were young you were told to be truthful, that lies are sin, yet sin you did and thus you came to thus place. Lie might a truth be made, by subtle tongue by sorcery.

[] Something different, something more (Crossover book can be found here. Page 193 is where you get the steps for making an Infernal. The sheet I am using so I do not have to fiddle around with making dots in the forum is here)

OOC: The crown will be in the next update because crowns are things you have placed on your head... or in this case place yourself Napoleon style because of how the cosmology works.

[] The Brazen Blade

I could make another option for stat allocation, but it's 1 in the morning for me. Later, I would do so.

Demonic Primacy of Essence is going to be really useful if we use this build though.

Edit: For those that wants to combine Magical Genius, Crafting Master and Combat Juggernaut, you can try my build:
[X] August Witchblade Princess V2.0
To mend what was once broken, to subjugate those who forced you to bow, and to have the strength to protect those you loved. With might, you shall make all things right.

Just keep in mind the social for that one is very much 'commanding your servants with dread threats'.

Good, those who are to serve us needs to understand how we rule.

Also, since this will be using ExWoD Infernals, will we be using the Thousand Hells book from the Kindred of the East? Where the imprisoned Primordials are split up into different Hells like the Hell of Being Flayed Alive or Hell of Boiling Fat. Or do we use the Yozi in their undiminished might, like Adorjan, She Who Lives in Her Name, and the Ebon Dragon?

Guys molly is a Sorcerer. She will benifit so much more from high int and occult and science.

We can make modern wepons and enhance them with magic, make things like better potions that will power up any sort of servants we will have.

Seriously, the amount of dots we can have for ritual magic will allow us to beat even major powers, because we will be massively better than any person can be at ritual magic and stuff.

Hell we can make holy cold iron/silver rocket launcher and that takes care most of the early books.

A sword build will only be viable we can get of the swords of the cross to put down some of the more immortal foes, otherwise magic is just more versatile.

Molly does not know IC. On the one hand that seems to be a demon who knows the name of.... something very old. On the other hand the name escapes her like trying to grasp smoke. It is almost like there are some kind of magical shenanigans afoot. You could try asking Ancient Mai, I'm sure she would be delighted to speak to you. :V
