So if, say, you were to have an artifact that was to produce food..... how would you rate it?

It ranges from nuts, to caviar and truffles.
 
If a heroic Solar is the righteous defender of creation, should a heroic abyssal be the righteous defender of the underworld?

Americans often call themselves the defenders of liberty and freedom, while they set up puppet governments and support dictators in foreign countries. directly damaging the freedom and liberty of the people of those nations.

Damn straight we should question whether or not a people or nation should call themselves the defenders of anything.

But everytime i try to teach themselves to properly defend themselves (e.g. DB with Sidereal martial arts) they explode, expire or go utterly insane. Its really better and safer for all parties involves if they left it up to the professionals. Like The Celestials, TUS, or Adrian (aka, the Crazy, the lazy, and the guy who earned the name River of Torment)

"Well of course they are lesser than us, you have to make up for that with greater numbers and higher quality equipment, which also let's you eventually specialize the training/equipping of individuals so they can focus on specific problems. And hopefully have them learn some manner of teaching and equipping others so they may become self-sustaining...but that really is a long-term goal, so for the moment let's settle with teaching them how to de-escalate conflict and the art of rearwards advance."

That's a legitimate point of view though, the Solars were mad by the end, and were a serious threat to the fabric of Creation; the mere existence and support of the Cauldronist faction within the Deliberative and the unsanctioned works of Salina, not to mention the time the Solars let the Raksha break through into Creation for the sake of war games, proved that.

A sidereal could go up to a Solar with every Investigation charm, truth finding artifacts and spells on their person and active and say to their faces that they were defending Creation from the threat posed by the Solar Exalted, and it would ping as the truth.

It was more a statement on the fact that creation wasn't designed for human habitation in any way whatsoever.

The threats that humanity faces, without support from the exalted, or explicit support from heaven, would see it wiped out in short order.

Humans hold no inherent advantages in personal or societal level power, technologies or infrastructure that other races couldn't do better. In fact, the only reason they are so numerous in the many locals of creation, is that everything that could seriously compete with them was wiped out, or crippled in the first age, or the end of the primordial war.

Any large creation wide human-centric society would only exist as long as its exalted/godly/primordial backers were capable of supporting them, and not much longer.

The reason I was using Sidereal martial arts as an example, is that anything the requires those to engage and put down is beyond the capabilities of a purely human society to act effectively against. So a society that can't bring some form of equivalent to the field, exists at the sufferance of those that could.

All you can really teach them is to defend themselves to the point that when you do have to help them out, its something worth your time to deal with, rather than some stray first circles.

Deleted my first response 'cause it was just a knee-jerk snap and didn't contribute anything.

Look. That cartoon is bottom of the barrel political "satire" (and fuck if that's a word that needs ten foot wide scare-quotes around it) that takes things wildly out of context and crushes whatever's left down to a fucking line to go "lol liberals". It doesn't add to anything. It doesnt make a point beyond "I'm twelve and this is deep". If you think you need a better one maybe don't post it in the first first place? Like I feel you recognize that it's not getting your point across.

Like, if you're going to start arguments like this could you at least not start them off with "time traveling Obama ruins everything".

I really dislike the monolithic view of the exalted factions during the first age for any major deliberative backed project.

Some Lunars should have been in agreement with the couldronists because they genuinely believed that they could build a better world, and some sidereals at least sympathise because they saw on a regular basis creation not quite working and needing regular maintenance.

As for Operation Wyldlands.

Age of sorrows sidereals regularly let lots of people die, kingdoms be toppled and terrible things happen to people because its for the good of creation as a whole. A wargame to ensure that the defences of creation were viable at the low price of a continent they could replace afterwards would not have bothered the more jaded lunars and sidereals.

I mean the sidereals had to purge there ranks before they could enact their plan.

Actually I have a question. How much of the DB host remained loyal to the Solars and had to be killed? Or was it a unanimous thing due to DB unity charms?
