Sounds like someone who might be coming to wield the devil's sword, wouldn't you...

Essence becomes an objective, global scale of metaphysical potency as opposed to a subjective one which works differently per splat. Two Essence X entities, for example, have roughly the same tier of magical weight to throw around, no matter what colour their anima banner is.

With this established, we set Primordials as N/A, Celestial Incarna and fetich demons as 10, third circle demons as 8-9, second circle demons as 6-7. Solar Exalted start at 7 and can reach 10. Sidereals and Lunars start at 6 and can reach 9. Dragon-Blooded start at 3 and can reach 6. Sorcerous circle access is at 4-7-10.

Having Enlightenment above 5 does not allow you to get huge stats and break the dice curve, as the old Essence 2 is the new Essence 7 as far as charm prerequisites go, and the effective maximum cap is Essence 5.

This also solves several amusing bugs in the system, like how an Essence 2 Infernal is considerably more powerful than an Essence 4 first circle demon, but that dude's Cecelyne perfect defense doesn't think so.
I mostly grasp that, but is there any chance it was written up officially somewhere? I've been looking for a while.

Also:

- weren't Essence & Enlightenment supposed to be two separate stats, or something?

- if it is just replacing Essence with Enlightenment, then mortals get fucked all over again thanks to the new requirements for Sorcery. From what I understand of the game, reaching Essence 4 as a mortal is rare beyond belief, in which case we move back into the territory of 'Sorcery schools basically don't exist outside a tiny handful of inbred Dragonblood clans & presumably a few Dynastic Houses*' again. Generally, anything that steals what few table scraps of power the already-pathetic common men of Creation are permitted to have strikes me as unnecessarily cruel.

* At least not without a big strong Celestial Exalt or powerful spirit running around in search of Terrestrial Exalts to teach.

You can find a non-exhaustive list of the Kerisgame hacks here. Or at least that's the link from the first page of the repository of Kerisgame.

Essence 4 mortals do not exist. They become gods.

My intent here was to establish that a Dragon-Blooded at full power has the same 'weight' to their magic as a) a newbie Celestial Exalt and b) similarly, to the lower end of Yozi sub-soul. It also puts them one notch under Celestial Circle Sorcery, the same way Celestials top out at one notch under Solar Circle Sorcery. X-blooded and other forms of variant mortal top out at 3, following the same pattern. Just beyond reach, ha ha ha.

This was also deliberately done to cut off balance problems, because "hey is this spell balanced if I mass-produce juiced up mortal/demon-blooded/fae-blooded/whatever-blooded sorcerers to spam it all day every day" is a question I do not want to have to deal with at all, so now I don't.

I believe what @ManusDomine meant was that DBs technically run the full game 2-6 (five levels) vs the ordinary 4, so that fresh DBs Exalt at what would be Essence 1 in the ordinary rules.

You know, going back to this "RWBY in Exalted" idea I had, Ozpin is pretty much perfect as an Elder Sidereal, isn't he? He's got that enigmatic presence, a lot of knowledge and wisdom that doesn't at all prevent him from making terrible mistakes, and his green clothes and eyes and the fact that his go-to tools are secrecy and manipulation make him an obvious Chosen of Secrets. And Oscar would be his next incarnation after his death.

So how would Ozpin fit in among the other Sidereals? He'd be an Elder, someone whose words held serious weight among them. But how much weight, and how would he use it, and how would others see him?

Earthscorpion isn't as good at anagrams as he'd like to think.

Hmm, I could see him as a headmaster of Heptagram. He would be perfect as someone who teach Sorcery to both Terrestials and young Sids. It fallows that he would be highly-regarded, but his teaching and distance from Heaven would make him less politically powerful. He probably have a tea with Chejop Kejak and his inner circle once a year and symbolic position in Convention of Blassed Isle. But lots of Sidreals are his former students and he probably could ask a lot of favours if he needed something done.

He is obviously a Secret. The foremost living experts on Time and various Time-related snarls in Loom of Fate.

That is, in fact, one of the ideas we came up with. We're leery about it because precedent and PCs assuming that they can do it too (in the same manner as "free the Yozis" plots).
"Sure you can do things like that...if you live to get to Essence 10, then get to the end of the Occult and Lore Charm Trees. And somehow gain control of a number of custom-tailored Manses, which no longer exist, and rebuild the infrastructure required to keep them functional...."
