Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

how long do you think a 5 year old last against a trained samurai

This.

Our only advantages are being small, able to slip into/ hide in places an adult cannot easily reach, and an adult mindset, Tokei probably won't expect us to go straight for murder.

We are giving up on the first advantage were we to leave home or fight in the open dinner room.

@Vesvius would it be quicker for us to run to the door and open it or for us to bolt upstairs and get to Mom's room? Because if we can get to Mom's room we can dive out the window mentioned to be there.

Guys. Stop assuming that, if we run, Tokei isn't just going to kill mother.

If we want her to survive, we need to act against him, not run away like our mother was intending and using her as a shield like she was trying to do in the update.

[x] You're the one he wants! Draw Tokei upstairs! There has to be something you can use to defeat him there!
-[x] if possible grab a hidden knife from somewhere, try to hide it from Tokei till the chance to use it arrives.

I am not going to write a complicated mess that nobody is going to bother voting for anyway, so might as well vote for something not-awful. Not really sure if anyone actually got anything better than this in a coherent form, atm.

I slightly changed the wording to clarify it a bit, just a heads up.

Now that i think about it staying in the house will lead to our mom trying to stop him. That's probably not very smart, best to have him chase us outside.

[X] Tokei is beyond you. He's a fully trained samurai and you're fucking five! You need to run! You need to run right now and call for help!

I mean he only wants us dead, I don't see why he'd let us run away and then waste time killing our mom as we got away.

[x] If you run, Tokei will take it out on Mother before chasing you. You can't let that happen! He doesn't have his sword on him, you passed it when Gai Sensei put Mr Straw down! Take it and use it to stab Tokei!

edited my vote for sticking him with the pointy end.

And, as I pointed out, us running means he turns his attention to mother so he can kill her and then pursue us.

Because she's gonna try stopping him and has a much higher chance of being a threat than a five year old (or so he thinks). And, even if he gives us some time, he's faster than us and more able to track us. He can do this and still catch us.

I dunno, it is a pretty reasonable assumption, considering his goal first and foremost, seems to be "Kill politically dangerous bastard before it goes and becomes an actual somebody."

Even if she dies...

...

Eh. I kind of not really fancying our chances of surviving this at all. Worryin about others is a tremendous overreach.

And it's not likely at all that she'll try to help in some way if her son is fighting for his life right in front of her?

of course she is. She's gonna help no matter what. Which is why Tokei's gonna kill her first.

That why we take the sword and, while he's distracted trying to kill mother, stab him with it.

She needs to get off the floor, first. That is going to take a moment, or five. His attention is not on the prone woman he just knocked down.

Meanwhile, we are already running for the stairs/whatever, and Tokei is following.

If we live for the next 30 seconds or so, we might just get a chance to stab Tokei as she throws herself/somehow attacks him from behind.

Too big. Really, we are better off going for a knife.

Agree.
Thus getting a knife, hiding it and waiting for a chance to stab him, when for example our mother distracts him, seems like the best idea to me as well.

The sword is useful because it is the only weapon that has any chance of achieving a quick kill. A knife doesn't tend to kill immediately unless we hit a sweet spot, and waiting for an opening isn't likely to work because we're nowhere near trained enough to exploit one effectively. We need to grab the big stick, and stab him with the pointy end.

If we do knife him, then remember what Zabuza taught us in the anime and what videogames taught us about bossfights. Thigh, groin and kidneys are pretty much the only "glowing crit zones" we can reach as a kid.

Does it?

He is not getting his sword because he probably do not think us worthy to die by his sword.

Taking it away from a five year old untrained in kenjutsu sounds trivial to me. I would argue that by getting the sword we are giving it to him.

He's not getting the sword because it's across the room and he wants to kill us now. We're 5 and should be easy to kill.

If we just leave the sword there, he's going to grab it as soon as he's close enough.

If he has the sword, he'll have a longer reach making any fight that much harder.
