Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

Oh no, it's almost like we're trying to think about this as an IC decision, and not put Protagonist Blinders on just because we're dealing with Naruto.

All we know about him IC is he's a little piece of shit who doesn't bother trying, harasses one of our friends near daily, and stole one of our most prized possessions for no damn reason. If he was Nameless Bully #3 would you still be trying to play his games?

Honestly, I half expect the 'Beat Him' option to have us inadvertently break our own fan while fighting him-- but I still think it's more IC than playing along with him.
Objection: We totally know he's the MC. Though it has literally been over a decade IC, the first post makes it clear we recognised the setting.

[X] Go to Naruto and explain to him that the fan was a gift from your Mother and you don't appreciate him taking it.
-[x] might as well explain how he is going wrong with Sakura well you are at it.

You freeze.

He wasn't after you. That slamming sound was him opening your desk at the same time, and all the motions towards you were just a distraction. He was after something much more important.

Your fan is gone.

In it's place is a cheap knock off, made of wood instead of fine steel and paper instead of silk. You flick it open on instinct. Instead of the painting of a coast at night that decorates your usual fan, it's got… a picture of a steaming bowl of soup.

Uzumaki Naruto just stole your fan. And replaced it with a shit one.

Yeah, no we shouldn't allow this to go any further.

How will you handle this?
[] You are going to play along. Steal your fan back when you get an opportunity and replace it with an even worse fan.
[] You are going to beat him until he gives you your fan back.
[] You're going to make Iruka-sensei make him give you your fan back.
[] Write-In (Approval Needed)[/b]

We definitely shouldn't play along. That might just encourage him to try again. The fan was given to us by our mom on our first day of school. Turning it into some weird game with Naruto is stupid. If this was Mariko or some other random bully we wouldn't just laugh it off and make a game of playing keep away with a prized possession. We would make it clear that there are lines that shoudn't be crossed. Naruto wants to be treated like a normal person, fine we can treat him like a normal person.

[X] Explain to Naruto that he stole a prized possession given to you by your mom and you would appreciate having it back. If he doesn't give it back, then you can go ahead and beat him until he gives you your fan back. Diplomacy should be attempted first before moving on to other forms of aggressive negotiations.

@Vesvius how's this for a write in?

Naruto was a little shit back in the day, if only so people would pay him some attention. No need to beat the ever loving shit out of him or siccing Iruka on him. He won't harm the fan while its in his possession and it is good training for the more subtle skills that we need.

How do you know he won't harm the fan. If we encourage this behavior of keep away it will likely be damaged in the future.

[X] Inform Uzumaki that the fan he just stole is a prized possession, given to you by your Mother, and that he, of all people, should understand how precious that makes it to you.

Accepted.

She just hasn't had anything bad happen to her that would spur her forward. In time that will change- you hope.
Only wish the best of things on friends, right?

So Sakura's feeling inadequate, will Ino's reasoning be revealed in the next update then?

Honestly, I like voting in character and while I sympathise with Naruto, I don't see Daisuke doing so. It's his mother's fan!

That's our fan.

I like that fan.

If you think about it, this may well be the only time ever we get to "beat" Naruto in a "fight". We could hold this over his head for decades afterwards as an ongoing gag.

Beating Naruto up is cruel, since he is really behind in social development and doesn't really realize that he is hurting others. It would be like kicking a puppy.

Playing along will make Naruto think Daisuke wants to spend time with him, and will increase the amount of time he spends harrassing Daisuke, which is wasted not training or relaxing with friends. Not the result we want here.

Thus we pick the mature option. Iruka is capable of dealing with it, and Daisuke can continue doing his thing without getting distracted.

Naruto Friendship Option‽ Naruto would know better than to actually damage our fan, so playing along might actually be fun!

Edit: ... I do admit that the prank war option is a bit out of character, but treating him like a reasonable person will probably earn us brownie points anyway.

It has also been made clear that Daisuke does not have perfect memory and things do tend to slip by as the years go on. It has also been made known that he didn't keep all of his memories.
I would be surprised if fundamental setting knowledge had slipped to that extent, though if he's outright had memories removed whilst in-game that makes sense.

I don't really think "I'm telling!" is a particularly mature response.
