Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

[] The Street Rat. You grew up on the streets, using your wits and cunning to eke out an existence.

Lee will probably like us better with this background. Don't go for the privilege, guys! Prove yourself through hard work!

[X] The Scion. You were born to a family of wealth and privilege, growing up wanting for nothing.

Fuuckk being a nouveau riche though :( . I suppose Lee can have a hot-blooded friendly rivalry with us?

[X] The Scion

What's cool about Naruto? Bloodlines. Who has bloodlines? The clans.

I'm fairly interested in the potential time travel once we unlock achievements to progress/ regress to certain eras. It seems like a good way to spice things up. I wonder if changes we make to the present day will be saved, if that is the case? If we reach Shippuden era somehow, will it be a blank template of Shippuden as canon or can we keep our stuff?

[X] New In Town. You're not from around here. Your family is a new arrival in Konoha, and it definitely shows.

Because we actually are new in town. Should start from the ground up and learn things at the street level before trying something like being at the top of the ladder/food chain.

This gives us the most freedom character creation wise and action wise imo.

[X] Son of the Shops. You come from a long line of peddlers, and have been haggling with anyone and everyone since the moment you learned to talk.

I'm thinking this would give more character creation options.

C'mon you all know New Kid is the best route. Say no to entitled spoiled rich kid. Doubt he'd be a Hyuuga or a member of one of the established clans anyways cause Ves loves OC-ing it up! Be a true OC! Experience the wonders--and horrors--of the Village Hidden in the Leaves as a newcomer! There's built in adversity, and an excuse for not being all that knowledgeable regarding the minutiae of the village! Without the baggage of a rich house, we can strike out however we want! Be a winner, Vote New in Town! :D

New in Town is pretty shit because
  • The village has no reason to trust a newcomer over loyal people raised from birth; there will always be a gap.
  • We won't have anybody willing to take care for us. Even Son of the Shops has concerned civilian merchants with clout - New Kid has negative backing.
  • More likely to be taken to Ne the moment we show talent, since we lack backing
If Vesvius really hates the Hyuuga/Uchiha whatever, he simply wouldn't have it as an option. There are many other extremely interesting clans, like Inuzuka or Kurama or even Senju - each of them has a lot of history and being part of that history is an excellent 'in'. I'm also pretty sure a clan is a good part of the route to the Warring Clans era achievement, and I really want to befriend Madara.

I'm not too worried about your appeal to explore the Village as a newcomer - no matter what, due to having the perspective of an SI, the player will always be a newcomer. New Kid is just choosing to lose majority of advantages other backgrounds get for free for no good reason, like that civilian village.

I hate the idea of befriending Naruto before Canon Start, that might just ruin the plot. Naruto can connect to many of the villains because he understands pain, befriending him can ruin that.
I want to befriend Lee, he has the proper perspective a Gamer should have re: grinding one's ass off.

There are also Civilian Nobles. Yaknow, like the Daimyo and his court, so on and so on? The Civilian council probably has a noble or two. We aren't guaranteed to get a Ninja Clan.

Being a noble's son would be interesting- that's a potential way to claim the large territory and make a ninja empire if we can manage it. I think there is some precedent too, since Dotou showed some (pretty strong) ninja abilities in the Snow Land movie despite being a noble ruler. We also know Asuma was involved in being the Fire Nation's official guardian ninja group for some years, so ninjas do intervene in the political world every so often.

Your fanon is showing. There wasn't, isn't, and will never be a civilian council.
What are you talking about? Of course the military autocratic state has a council of bloodthirsty moronic civilians that can overturn the dictators decisions on a whim and are lead by a screeching harridan whose goal in life is to get rid of her villages strongest weapon. I mean, that's just common sense.
