Wonder if Danny's noticed Sunny's "transactions" yet.
I'm not sure Danny could pick Taylor out of a line up much less the wolf using his credit cards............and now I realize what I just wrote about the wolf.
Eeeeeyup. He did back in chapter 11.
Maybe sometime soon she'd bring up the three-hundred-and-some-change charge on his credit card, and there'd be a reasonable explanation for that, too.
Pretty sure that was the cherry tree seeds and soil, since Taylor has been spending her allowance on paints and ink and stuff since Sunny keeps 'just happening' to have coupons.

The $300 charge just never got brought up after, I think. Mostly because Taylor lost her hold on the Hebert Family Temper after Alan Barnes was a Dick and Danny didn't argue back and try to defend her from spurious accusations (right before Paragon!Old Man Henrick Interrupt/Verbal Beat Down of Alan). After that, well...As demonstrated, Danny...is really not doing well on the communication front right now, so it was probably one of those things he wanted to bring up and then failed to do so...

'oO(Okay, I will totally bring this mysterious credit card charge up, in a non-judgemental manner, and politely and calmly ask my daughter what is going on without any accusations.)Oo So...how was your day?'
'Fine.'
'That's good. oO(DAMMIT, brain. You failed me again! Quick, try to keep the conversation going before the awkward strangles i-no, no, too late.)Oo'

...I'm not getting the joke, if there is one...

It's hope, people.
Hope was the last thing at the bottom of Pandora's Box.
The most dangerous things the Greeks could conceive, and hope was one of the most dangerous.

Well, if you're talking about the original Greek myth (Well, okay, in later versions of the Greek myth,) the jokey answer is Epimetheus, then later Pyrrha for a while. I offer no speculation about any superheroine who might be using that nom de plume.

'Box' is sometimes a euphemism. Pandora is the identity of a Taylor in another fic. Take that however you may.

Ah, m'kay, I know the fic you might be talking about.

Still, back to the original meaning, it holds merit with what Armsmaster said.

The delusional kind that would get people to never give up never surrender and do really crazy things. Like tzeentchian hope. Or spiral power where it would actually break everything.

Or the hope that Heartbreakers victims feel that he will come that drive them to fight with a vicious and suicidal desperation.

Ammy's benign but her compulsions and they are compulsions are serious business and ha e been pulling Taylor into really coocoo things that she likely would not have done with a clear and prescient head.

Like stay there to get slapped by lung.

Ammy's also been dodging Danny and waving the the all will be well stick for a while, while also synchronizing with Taylor. This is likely not helping the family communication issues, the shard issues, and the intersection there of.

Ammy robbing him certainly didn't help.

Uh, What? Hope is a good thing. In the story, it was either Hopelessness who got stuck in the box because Pandora finally managed to close the lid, or Hope who was in the box with all of the Troubles and got to go around helping people to get them through it.

Yeah, all the versions of the myth I'm familiar with have the Hope at the bottom of Pandora's Box as a Good Thing. A shining Light to offset the Evils that were released, a gift to help endure the hardships the escaped, never something Bad.

All the evils in the world escaped from that box, and in the end all that was left for Pandora was Hope. Hope that they could endure them, overcome them.

Hell, even in Devil May Cry 4, when you get to use Pandora's Box (more like Pandora's Suitcase, really), the most powerful attack is literally opening the box and letting the light of Hope shine through and obliterate all but the strongest demons.

"So, I saw what I thought was a dog, and then-- just stopped to pet it." He made a frustrated noise. "There wasn't memory loss-- I hadn't forgotten about Brushstroke--and what I felt wasn't a euphoric effect. Just this-- this certainty, that I could afford to stop and pet this dog. That it was okay."

Colin had ceased working on his project, and his fingers worried at the tool in his hands. His gaze was distant, and his voice very quiet. "I just felt like… it was okay. Everything was going to be okay."

And is it any wonder that he felt that way? Amaterasu's gifts were meant to bless humanity rather than harm even the evilest of them. Slash and strokes of Divine will that could shatter stone, melt steel, and slay demons with a thunderous touch merely trip, char, and stun those of Her Children that she touches (Remember Oh Lung, the reason that you lived to stand before Her Miko as second time!). However with what She considers Her greatest gifts, to restore that which is broken and bring blossoms and life to where there was only death and decay ruled, something very different occurs, something greater, rather than something lesser.

Because what is healed is not the body, or even the soul. No, what is healed is the faded bond between Man and the Divine, and thus for a moment man understands.

It's not a compulsion, it's simply showing people the truth and them acting with that in mind. It's just, well, take it from someone who at least thinks he's experienced something like this before(I could be crazy or mistaken I guess, who knows), when you go from touching the divine to not touching it it's a real fall from grace, you lose that grander understanding and point of view pretty quickly. If you're lucky you can hold onto a piece of it, the basics if you're truly blessed, but that clarity is gone forever and every moment onwards from there you just fall further and further away from it.

That's what happens. Armsmaster, saw/connected with the truth. He came to understand divinity, it's presence in his life, the way the universe and everything else works, the holyness and goodness of Ammy and how she came to save them all and will succed and, naturally, he wanted to thank her so he stopped to pet her and let her get on with her work.

Thne the moment ended. All that faded, he's left with the very barest of basic's, the throgh the dog everything was going to be okay, but, sicne he lacked the certainty and clarity of divine revelation he tried to use logic to understand what happened, making him naturally believe it's a master effect because, from his understanding of the world, there is nothign else it could be.

It's not a compulsion, Armmasters understanding is just faulty.

My understanding lasted a bit longer, but I suspect that I may have been more open to this sort of thing.

Alternatively, I'm completly crazy/mistaken which is, you know, it's a distinct possibility I suppose. I could easily be wrong.

Ok, this is great and very nice. Continue on, US.

And of course, thanks to my settings, this thread is now watched.

The biggest thing people don't seem to get is that ARMSMASTER DOES NOT KNOW WHO AMMY IS, to him and others Ammy is either a projection with master powers, a Case 53 with master powers, or a paracanine with master powers and THERE IS ALMOST NO WAY FOR HIM TO KNOW SHE IS A GOD. It DOES NOT matter what the source of the effect is, what matters is that something went in and messed with his emotions in the middle of a chase in progress. All this is trying to find more info on the master to make sure that Armsmaster or some other hero doesn't get effected in the middle of a crisis or to make sure that they don't have a villain on their hands. AGAIN WE THE READERS HAVE OUT OF CONEXT KNOWLEDGE THAT Ammy would not do so, but ARMSMASTER DOES NOT HAVE SAID KNOWLEDGE.

Hope is what gives mankind drive, the simplest example I can come up with is work, I go to work hoping that I will be able to earn money to feed myself. Like most things though, hope is in and of itself a natural party in the Good vs Evil, the question is what do you hope for, and how do you act upon that hope.

You are clearly on the wrong amount of drugs.

Calm down.

That sounds like the bullshit Lilith supports spout support Depravity Quests depravity when her aura of calm keeps people from flipping the fuck out and shanking her with she sprouts tentacle and makes someone do shit they would not on a good day.

It's functionally identically to getting hit by Nice Guy or getting jedi mind tricked as mindfuck and so the only real point is what she did with it. Which was get Taylor to run from Armsmaster and get her name down as a suspect who ran from a cop and who was stopped by a master effect.

Hope is a thing that can be good or bad.

Listen, every emotion can be a bad thing if pointed in the wrong direction, if it's too strong, and/or if it's not tempered by other emotions/thoughts.

Now, the question is, can it be good? Yes, it pretty unequivocally can be good. Look around you. Do you see literally everything around you? Without hope, most of it is fairly unlikely. Hell, look at the screen, can you read the words? Hope strikes again, the very idea of educating everyone in a country is one of ht emost hopeful darn things I've ever heard of, it's saying "we think if we just provide people with the opportunity and tools to learn they will take that and use it for the good of everyone."

The very idea of society is pretty darn impossible without hope and trust, hope that it's better then the alternative.

I admitted that I could be wrong, though I suspect that in the context of this particular story I'm not far from correct even if I am wrong about the more personal aspects.

So, who is Lilith? What quest?
