Something has been bothering me.

Was not the wolf from the game male though? Despite the representation of Amaterasu?

Okami is weird about that. Shiranui, your past self, is referred to as male. However, Amaterasu is, unless I'm badly misremembering, referred to as female.

She's also apparently attracted to women, going by her response to one of the female characters in the game.

Its partially a joke in regards to how one of the legends surrounding her sounds. Long story short, after Susanoo was an asshole doing things like throwing a carcass into her home and such, she fled to a cave and stayed there. It took the other Kami making a huge party with Ame-no-Uzume basically putting on something of a strip show to draw her out. Once she was out of the cave, another Kami stood between her and it, and one sealed the cave to prevent her from going back inside. They then convinced her to rejoin the divine which she did and brought back light to Japan.

I shan't fault Ammy a bit of gender and sexuality ambiguity, they're a Greater God, their identity is whatever the fuck they feel like whenever the fuck they feel like it.

I mean, are you gonna argue with the heavenly Sun-wolf about what they are?

Ammy-as-doG is most certainly female. The game itself makes that fact clear by sneaking an anatomical feature "Under the RADAR" as the saying goes.

... that's her butthole. Honestly, the fact that they didn't sneak in an anatomical feature is our best guess at gender, and getting a male Wolf anatomically correct and still KF is just infeasible.

I've heard that real-world Amaterasu may have started out as male in the myths, and later got considered female. (I'd guess about the time she became considered mother-goddess of creation, but I haven't looked into the etymology at all.)

Omake: The 5 Stages of Getting Sunny to the Vet
THE FIVE STAGES OF GETTING SUNNY TO THE VET.

Denial.
"Oh no," Taylor said, "Oh no no no. You are going to the vet and that's final!"
Sunny turned and gave her a pitiful look.
"Oh, don't you give me those eyes!" Taylor turned and went to pick up Sunny's leash. "Now let's go... Sunny?"
Sunny had disappeared.

Anger.
"Sunny! Get back here!" Passersby turned and watched as a large white dog was chased by a tall dark-haired girl in red and white. "Sunny!" she yelled, "Get back here! Stop!" Sunny just continued running. "No, bad dog! Bad dog!"

Bargaining.
"Suunnyy! Look what I've got here!" Taylor crooned. Sunny looked up, her focus quickly zeroing on the bottle in Taylor's hand. "I got Souta to get me the best sake he could find!" Sunny jumped up from her prone position, tail wagging. Bark! "Now, now you can have it on one condition. You have to go to the vet." The tail stopped wagging.
Suddenly, Sunny's head turned towards the torii and she started barking her head off. "Huh?" Taylor said, "what - Hey!" Sunny ran off with the bottle in her jaws.

Depression.
"Please, Sunny? sniff For me?" Sunny sighed as her weepy human clung to her neck. "It's just a checkup. It won't even hurt. Please?"

Acceptance.
"Alright, you win Sunny, no vet for you." Taylor abdicated. Sunny woofed victoriously. "Now, how about we go for a walk?" Sunny wagged her tail. Yes she would like to go for a walk! They left the shrine and began walking down the pawprint path. Sunny sniffed at everything, there was so much to see, to smell! There was that bush there, and that fire hydrant outside the vet's and - wait. Sunny turned a suspicious eye on her human. "What?" was the innocent response. Too innocent. Sunny turned to run, but it was too late! Sunny felt two arms clamp around her and she was lifted up, up, up off the ground! From her new position, she glared in betrayal at her human. "It's for your own good, Sunny." Taylor opined, "Thanks for the help, Vicky."
"No problem," came a voice from behind Sunny, "I know how troublesome pets can be."
Stage 5:AcceptanceTrickery.

Ugh, not this argument again.
Thanks for the compliment though, I appreciate it.
If your hair is dark enough, the difference between brown and black becomes academic.

It's not an argument and it's not dark brown.

As he'd done with his own underground base, Coil had set my lair up with a discreet entrance and exit. Leaving through the front door would be conspicuous, if I started working with anyone beyond my teammates. Skinny teenage girl with black curly hair entering and leaving the same building that the skinny teenage villain with black curly hair was operating out of? No.

Unless you think Taylor doesn't know her own hair color.

The problem, as has come up before, is Worm lists something like three different hair colors for Taylor throughout the story.
No it doesn't. Her hair is described as 'dark curls' or 'black curls', except in the final epilogue, when her appearance has been changed significantly, and she has short, light brown hair. Taylor's hair is indisputably black.

Is she, perhaps, younger in the epilogue for some reason? Because from what I know, hair tends to darken with age.
