Sunny is a Goddess, it looks like she has no idea how to treat someone as an equal.
As Okibruez pointed out, that's because Sunny doesn't have an equal. Her equal would be the Judeo-Christian God, Zeus, Amun-Ra, Odin, or any other top-level deity. Sunny is Taylor's friend, but Amaterasu is the goddess whom Taylor serves. Whichever aspect is more prominent depends on her mood.

Being Sunny, this is mast likely a case of having heard the suggestion, she's figuring "If I put some of my power into that pool then dunk Taylor, it'll be another layer of protection for her against nastybads." If it appeals to her sense of humor at the same time, well, she'll go a long way for a joke.
There is going far for a joke, and there is going too far...
This feels more like bullying to me, to be honest.

There is going far for a joke,
When it comes right down to it, this isn't for a joke. Given the existence of the divine in this fic, one should perhaps consider that purification rituals might be serious business.

Besides, you'll note Sunny has done nothing to push Taylor into actually undergoing purification in November, just indicated that she'd appreciate Taylor putting in the effort for a task Taylor went and looked up.

All she's done is neuter a threat Taylor made towards her. If we're going to talk about bullying, here, maybe you shouldn't be looking at Sunny.

Alternatively, we could all take a step back from this and say "Hey, this is Constellations. All this talk of major characters bullying each other doesn't make sense. Maybe we're reading too much into all this."

Omake: Slight Confusion
Well, this dumb. And bad. But not so bad that I'm not going to post it so whatever. Inspired by, but not strictly related to the semi-recent Ammy/=Amy confusion...

Victoria's legs were sore.
That's what happens when you've been sitting on your knees drinking tea for hours on end.
'I can't even use my powers to cheat a bit, not with those glares Brushstroke sends me every time I try. How she can notice me rising half an inch off the ground while still being too engrossed in her book to hold a decent conversation is beyond me.'
'Well, this is really good tea, at least'
Victoria privately admitted as she watched Good Dog pad over to Brushstroke.

"Woof." The dog announced.

Brushstroke's eyes remained resolutely focused on the pages in front of them, "Hmm? What is it Sunny? Did you finish gathering the fallen branches?"

"Woo!" The dog confirmed.

"Excellent work, I'm proud of you." Brushstroke's voice was filled with warmth despite its distracted tone, "Good girl." She finished, reaching up to rub between the massive canine's ears for a moment before Good Dog decided she was satisfied and wandered off somewhere.

As for why Victoria had been sitting here for so long...

"Ah, Miko? I finished sweeping the path."

"Oh?" Brushstroke cast a brief glance over the cobblestones before pushing her nose back into her book "Excellent work, I'm proud of you." Reaching up she started petting, Petting! Amy's head "Good Girl."

The awkward moment continued for entirely too long before Brushstroke withdrew her hand to turn a page.

"U-um, Do you need help with anything else?"

"Well... The flowers near the gate have some weeds but-"

"I'll take care of them! Don't worry, just leave it to me!"

"Seriously Ames? Again? This is the third-"

"Shut up and let me have this!" she bit out before dashing towards the flower beds.

"Your sister needs help," Commented the masked murderer sitting nearby.

"Yeah, Seriously." Agreed his prepubescent sidekick.

"I don't want to hear that from you." Replied the grumpy Superheroine before she went back to pointedly ignoring their existence.

I probably should have put a few more words in there (or maybe a few less idk) but I kinda fell asleep in the middle of writing this and lost whatever feeble creative spark I had sooo... Meh.

It's amazing how far someone will go for a little praise, after a lifetime without it.

So all this talk of bullying was interesting, but it's more interesting that no one really pointed out why it doesn't seem like bullying in the fix itself. Great example of how the relationship between two people can completely change the nature of an action

Hmm. Could Taylor hire the dockworker's association? Even if their union manager is a superhero now, they could probably still use the work.

Omake: Apprentice
I don't know why I wrote this, but, after rereading, I wanted to give Onii Lee an omake.

---

"Miko?"

The Verified Priestess in question glanced across the table, graceful movements filling his cup even as she did so.

Oni Lee, likewise, accepted it gracefully, but spoke with a tone of faint trepidation, "Dinah has been requesting something. I agreed to speak with you of it."

The Miko smiled at that, nodding, "So, what does your little sister want?"

He didn't protest--he might have, normally, but such thoughts were silenced by the sharp gaze of the Ōkami, who had appeared at her priestess's side in the space of a moment.

He took a short, calming breath, "She would like to train under you, as an apprentice."

The young woman's brow furrowed faintly at this, but the Ōkami...the Ōkami smiled, and nosed her priestess, who turned to regard her.

"Sunny, no."

The Ōkami's gaze did not waver.

"I don't even know how to be a--"

Her words were cut off by a gentle paw to the mouth and a shake of the head.

The Miko heaved a sigh as the spirit lowered her paw, "Fine. She will need to be here tomorrow morning. We will work something out."

He nodded, taking a other sip of his tea before answering, "Thank you, Miko, Ōkami. I will insure she makes it."

"Good."

The wolf's jaw dropped open. Taylor leaned in close and booped the wolf's nose with a finger. "And there'll be nothing you can do about it, because you don't have thumbs."
Truly the depths of Taylor's cruelty knows no bounds!
Baachan would be proud.

Sunny was so despondent that she retreated to her icy fortress of solitude.

I have no idea who either of those people are.
smol cute miko trainee and friend, is all that really matters here. The redhead is Ryoko, the main protagonist of Real Bout High School aka Samurai Girl, and I can't actually remember the name of the other right now. Her personality doesn't match Dinah anyway, so like I said it doesn't really matter.

I just remembered.
Taylor complained it's November and it's cold, so wouldn't turning the fridge off doesn't matter in keeping the sake from getting warm? :V
The warmth of climate and warmth of drinks are two completely different things.
Not with Sunny around.
"It's not a matter of clouds. The Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the sun during winter months, but Brockton Bay-- and only Brockton Bay-- is still receiving solar energy comparable to April or May. The temperature difference hasn't been huge between within city limits and outside it, but within the city, plants are maintaining growth and hibernating animals are still active." The Tinker paused, and her accented voice grew frustrated. "I've been comparing all the data sources I have. The Earth's tilt is still on track, there's no source of refraction or amplification that I can identify. And yet, it's still sunny in Brockton Bay."

The girl's name is Miyuki Onizuka - though I can't say anything about her character otherwise.

Shy and quiet, from what I remember of watching the series something like a decade ago. She does have some kind of visions or precog going on though, and during the Sailor Moon parody two-parter she can dodge fast enough it might satisfy Piccolo.

Thank you.
My family thinks I've gone nuts with all the laughing I have done while binge reading this, but that's okay.
I got to read awesome fic that lifted my mood from darkness it had fallen in the morning.

So, take the ratings! especially the Hugs and Funny ratings! take them and be as happy as I've been while reading this.
I have been VERY happy reading this. Thank you.

I'm really loving the foresight that let me commission this pic.

On a side note - upon a reread, it occurs to me that Taylor was learning the subtle politeness-judo stuff way before we saw the dramatic reveal with the Yuuta/Youkai thing (Chapter 41). She goes in planning to make a second Lord's Market, and that's exactly what Lung notices when she takes the buildings and starts offering deals to the ABB.
