I'm not sure, but I vaguely remember watching the Twilight Zone as a kid back in the day when it used to run on...I think SABC 2 or 3, don't quote me on it though. That shit was mad creepy, but pretty fun to watch.
I was thinking something a little more... tongue in cheek.

But even they don't quite realise that Taylor is not really a Miko.
She is by definition of her job as Head Shrine Maiden under direct authority of Amaterasu alone, one of two Saiō or Saigū.
If Ammy wants to drive the point home in a way that is completely unmistakable, Taylor will get Fifty Bells.
If you thought you'd seen Kenta freak out before, the addition of Isuzu, "Fifty Bells that peal in harmony and celebration" to the shrine area by the "Wolf" would probably cause Kenta to completely flip out as that would outright state that the Okami is, Not a Servant of, Amaterasu.
The Isuzu, or Fifty Bells relates to the story of the Imperial Princess/Priestess Yamatohime-no-mikoto who was lead on a great journey thruoghout Japan until she came to where the Naiku was later built in Ise, where the voice of the Goddess spoke to her and said "(Ise) is a secluded and pleasant land. In this land I wish to dwell."

Except she's not related to the Emperor in way shape or form, and this is important because the Imperial Line is by strict definition, descendants of Amaterasu Omikami...unless you are implying Taylor may have such a lineage.
Honestly speaking, the subtlety of Taylor's true position and the little clues that have been picked up by both Kenta and Lee that have been either out right denied or misinterpreted works well to be honest. It fits with Ammy's own mischievous, "I know something you don't" nature. The Baachan seem to know a little more, but they feel, weary, like they don't dare believe in case they were given false hope, the retrieval of one of The Treasures helped a little, but it still feels like they would remain reluctant, a little less now than before, but still reluctant. Taylor's generation just flat out do not have the need to believe, though Taylor has been working hard (unconsciously) to change that little by little.
I think that Taylor, since her mother's flute was restored, truly believes, more so since it seems like that the action only reinforced what she saw as a child. It was a little thing though to anyone else, mending an instrument. However, on a personal level, with the memories of her mother being restored to her, I honestly believe that Taylor truly realized the truth behind the white wolf, even beyond the red markings she could see.
Basically? I think a lot of people are missing the point here. It's the little things that truly count in the tale of Amaterasu and her young, inexperienced, but painfully earnest Miko.
- A daughter drawing a picture of her mother with the paints that she had bought.
- Helping an old couple with their yard work.
- Volunteering to repair an old building.
- Making breakfast for someone.
- Asking an arrogant young man how he earned his title.
These things though small when taken out of context, have completely altered the flow of the story on multiple occasions. So, to me, I honestly don't care if anyone figures out who Sunny really is, the thing that matters is that her Miko, through her tiny actions (sometimes guided by Sunny and other times through Fate itself) continues to change Brockton Bay as everyone else scrambles to keep up.
After all, it's not often that a Brushstroke can change so many peoples' worlds.

Indeed this is true, however there is only one shrine, the Ise Shrine, where man has knowledge of the Goddess herself choosing to dwell at, and thus it is a "Family" Shrine for Amaterasu, there is the point however that the Priestess of the Naiku is Beholden only to Amaterasu and the Emperor.
Here there's directly a second one, not that Amaterasu is telling or liable to tell until the end of this fic, if at all i agree with you on that. But strictly speaking Taylor is equivalent to an Itsuki no Miko or Saio even without the blood connection as she is beholden only to Amaterasu.
Now you might go "But what about the Law of the United States of America?" well the Protectorate as duly appointed representatives of that nation is about to relinquish authority over her in order to keep Kenta happy.
Edit: i agree with you, that the story doesn't need the fifty bells as an announcement of Amaterasu being "in residence", however like the discussions around Chessman having a Forgeworld Warlord Titan, or even an Imperator or Warmonger, it's the sort of thing one would like to see simply due to the sheer mindblowing fuckery of it.
I'm sorry but when I read that I read it as "This land is peaceful, it's inhabitants kind." And started having traumatic flashbacks.
Anyways, it probably won't be until the very end if ever that people see what Ammy really is. Maybe if Scion does go "off the rails" but it's just as likely that he will be dealt with peacefully. Over tea.
I really want to see a PHO reaction to this, hell or just an internal monologue from the heroes.
As for where Sunny is atm, either she is hiding in the bushes, or she is sitting in front of a very specific mirror save scumming for all she is worth.

Of course by the sheer fact Okami Ammy is very different from mythological Ammy, such as lacking a brother named Susanoo the Imperial Family is probably not actually related to her.
Knowing Ammy in this fic she might not even be aware people believe that, probably by getting distracted by a butterfly when Waka was explaining it to her.

We know she doesn't because she can't see Amaterasu's true form, only a few markings. If Ammy was described as being on fire with strange ethereal tufts coming off her then we'll know Taylor is a true believer. She obviously believes Ammy is special, even seems to have a bit of faith in Shintoism but she's not fully there yet.
She needs to grind more to level up her faith fully.
Man, that'd actually make me really sad as an Okami fan. Still want to see other bits of Okami come into play, or at least Ammy swing a sword around. Like I said before it really feels like we haven't even reached Orochi yet.
Plus, Ammy has two forms. Normal form and Shiranui form. Shiranui is what she busts out for world ending threats, though she needed the entire people of Nippon praying to her to manage that in game. Admittedly that was only like, 700,000 people going by historical assumptions so probably just needs Brockton Bay to start believing. Or by setting up a youtube channel.

Remember, Ammy looks like this:
Still a lot of bits Taylor hasn't spotted yet.

I would love to see Scion dealt with peacefully. It would fit the feel of the story and to observe the reactions of Cauldron would be hilarious. Bet only Legend would be genuinely happy.
What if Ammy really is a manifestation of Taylor's trigger? I mean, we are assuming otherwise since crossover, but what if Taylor triggered and Ammy is tied to Taylor's faith entirely?

that's an interesting thought and tinkers actually explain the little details due to the fact that they intuit what they're building so Taylor intuits how Amaterasu would act of course it's all up to US personally i hope it is actually Amaterasu and not shard power
Lung exhaled through his teeth in a long, drawn out "Fffffffhhhhuuuuhhhhhhh…" sound, ending with a click of his teeth on the 'ck!' There went any hope of fulfilling his unlooked-for bargain to the letter only. If he did not handle this carefully, any perceived shortcoming would be an excuse to demand more of him, thus extending this entire troublesome affair. His best option was to turn the table upon his opponent, offer more than he owed, and thereby put the miko in debt to him instead. Or at least forestall any further requests.
"I certainly hope you are behaving yourselves. I've declared this area neutral territory. It would be terrible if the Protectorate couldn't recognize the value of such a place." Was he…? Taylor took a sharp breath. He was! That bastard was almost daring the heroes to attack him and break the new shrine truce, AND he was taking credit for it! Lung was just the worst guest.
Taylor stared at Lung over her glasses and said, her voice sweet, "It's so good of you to enforce a nonaggression treaty within the ABB, Lung. I'm very glad that you respect the shrine so much as to help maintain its open-door policy to any who wish to visit."
Lung stopped smiling, but he didn't say anything more. Oni Lee was giving the larger man a look that, even with the mask, Taylor recognized from her tutelage under the Baachan Collective.
Poor, poor, poor Koi, being forced into one of the many duties of Dragons (Guarding Sacred Places, unless I'm mistaken) because he could not, for one moment, resist displaying authority that he did not have in front of a Miko. This is reading like a Japanese Folktale, all references to the modern world aside.

Well, it is a fairly big climax for people to deal with, a literal goddess being here to help, so if it's not near the end it would have to be related to something big. But what about after that, people would know she is a goddess... The shrine would be hounded, there would be confusion, anger, denial, so many things in the fallout of such an event. Maybe Sunny could shield Taylor from a lot of it, but it would be quite confronting for her to be widely publicised as the personal Priestess for Amaterasu. It'd be like waking up one day and finding out you've been named the Pope, or something. It would be a bit of a tone shift in the story I think. Eh, maybe all this can be side stepped somehow.
But, yeah, would like to see her swing a sword, and strike up a victory howl.
So I'm rereading, as I said I would, luxuriating in words, tasting themes.
Beads are thematic from the beginning, the friendship bracelet with the plastic beads. That's going to be the final set in the box, I bet.
And chapter 12, when Lung is struck by lightning. Oh my god, Ammy was recreating his trigger event, explicitly causing those sensations in him. But, but, but. This time there was no rage dragon. This time, this time there was someone to help pick him up after.
Been thinking on Lung, and well, he runs his gang like a really shitty Modern American Gang. E88 is a touch more Mafia. Ammy is making Lung behave like a Yakuza. As Lung only ever was low on the totem pole back when he was a Yakuza I can imagine him going, "shit how does this go again?"
But more than that, like Ammy, honor came looking for Lung, and is forcing him to man up
And when Wooooo~! happens, well, you know it's going to be fun.
