Confringentur 2; a Madoka Magica / Fate/Stay Night sequel

...I'm too used to overly complicated Wallyworld votes aren't I...

Let me go edit it.

P.s. sorta busy for the next few days so I'll be slow at responding.

We can do whatever we want, strictly speaking. It's more a question of "will we be happy with the outcome of our decisions?" that we need to worry about. So, do you think withdrawing Kyouko will come with a satisfactory result?

This... wasn't really pointed at you, @SVS - I, as someone who's really bad at tactics beypnd "Spam quickened eldritch blasts" hoped I could get a bit of feedback from the other voters. It seems to me, from what you've described, that we're overextended - tactical retreats and regroups are usually useful in such a situation.

- It's overcomplicated
- Is overly passive
- Relies on a tactic for Lancer that doesn't work in Type Moon rules
- Is redundant in multiple places

The lancer tactic is something that Archer did in a spar against Saber which is why I suggest it.

Redundant...yeah. Fixed that... It was an issue of misunderstanding some parts of what was happening and not adjusting the vote to cover it.

Passive... Yes that is a thing. The reason I'm going sorta passive is because I'm almost certain that this is one big trap and I don't want to commit forces unless absolutely necessary in an overt fashion for the servants since we don't know what we are facing quite yet. I've made some edits to change that. And hopefully dim down the complicated manner of this...

[X] Jefardi

Voting for it since I think it allows us an opportunity go gain more information than the other vote. Plus, regardless of vote, everyone is getting some backup which was my primary concern.

The lancer tactic is something that Archer did in a spar against Saber which is why I suggest it.
May I ask which one that was? Can you find a clip? Not saying you're wrong, I just don't know where you're coming from with that.

The reason I'm going sorta passive is because I'm almost certain that this is one big trap and I don't want to commit forces unless absolutely necessary in an overt fashion for the servants since we don't know what we are facing quite yet.
Yeah, that's fair.

I think it was day 41 of the last Quest? It's the one where we sparred every single person on our team.
If that's how it came across to you, that wasn't my intention, because to echo Plague's sentiment I don't think that's something servants can do, the way you're describing it. I don't recall ever seeing them engage only part of their body out of spirit form, nor do I recall the transition in and out of spirit form being as rapid-fire as you wanted.

Versus Saber, Archer was using Hades' cap of invisibility, but it didn't work because Saber was using Book of Void to see through his BS.
Versus Rider was literally just a fistfight.
Versus Caster was never shown, but be can assume they were sword-spamming because that's what both of them do best.
And versus Berserker was Archer trying and failing to hit Berserker with something that would stick.

Day 1 Chapter 14
[X] First Contact 1.0

You move in closer in an attempt to get a better look at the woman who has caught your attention. She was standing right out in the open, so how did Archer not see her before you did? Her face - thin, pale, and foreign - is framed by short, chin-length hair of a pale pink, and her lime-coloured eyes burn as she stares at the conflagration with a smile. Her manner of dress is immaculate, form-fitting and black formal-wear hugging a frame as thin as her face. You've never seen this woman before in your life, neither around town nor in any previous loop before this. You can only stare unnoticed for a few moments before the woman turns her head in your direction. Her eyes lock with yours for just a moment, before she turns and makes for the shadows of a nearby alley, wagging a finger wreathed in burning embers as she beckons you to follow her. You don't, because the instant your mind registers that this could be a trap, you are interrupted by three voices speaking to you in unison.

"Akemi-san! Kirika and I are under attack! Two enemies, both puella magi! I don't know if Kirika and I can hold them!"

"Hey, Spooky, there was a sniper up on a nearby roof that I'm in the middle'a taking out. Think you can lend a hand my way?"

"Akemi-san, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody! Repeat, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody!"

What are the chances that all four of your allies would be attacked, almost at the same time? This whole setup is making you think of a trap. "Tomoe-san, I'm going to send Archer to assist you, so hang tight. Oriko, you brought Lancer, now's the time to use her. Try to bring one of them in alive so we can question them later. Kyouko... I'm sorry, but I can't come help at the moment. I'm staring down our most likely culprit, and I need to question her before she has the chance to run off. I'd suggest calling on Rider if you need reinforcements; he can be there faster than I can."

The woman's foreign features give you only the barest hint to her identity. It's highly unlikely that she's a puella magi - or if she is, she's come an unlikely long way from wherever her own territory is - but it doesn't rule out the possibility that she's a visiting representative from the Mage's Association, or at least a foreign mage if she isn't acting in an official capacity. There's one more possibility you aren't considering, isn't there? It's highly unlikely, but what are the chances that this woman is a servant? Every bone in your body is screaming at you not to follow her, that this is a trap, but you need to know. While you can still see her, you attempt to see with your master's vision whether or not the mystery woman is a servant.

The pain as you look at the woman through your master's vision is immediate and immense, like your brain is being forced out of your skull through your eyes and ears. You pull back and cancel out your master's vision as fast as you can, having learned only the meaning of pain for your efforts. "Archer, are you seeing this woman?" The sound of your own voice inside your head is agonising, but you have to know if Archer has a visual. "She was standing right out in the open, but somehow I spotted her first."

"I only saw her as soon as you did,"
Archer replies. "An illusion of some kind, if I had to guess, that she only rolled back when she wanted to be seen."

"Do you have any idea who she could be? I tried to see if she was a servant with my master's vision, and it was like an oil tanker exploding inside my head."

"I've never seen her before in my life."

"That's fine."
If Archer thinks of something - anything - later, he can tell you; but for right now; "I need you to go assist Tomoe-san now. She's under attack and she has a civilian with her."

"Well, this is interesting," the woman says, her voice like a pounding hammer to your skull after that ordeal. "I didn't think there was anyone stupid enough to think of looking at me in that manner. You must be an idiot."

At least she's not trying to get away. All your senses are ablaze with agony, but you can at least get something from her without following her into a trap. You'll try asking a simple question first; "Who are you? A name would be enough, to start with."

"Oh, I don't know if I should tell you that," the woman says, working her voice like a hot poker in your eye as she speaks. "If I told you my name, you might just die of fright. Then what would be the point of having asked me?"

"Then, what are you? You're can't be a normal human, so what are you, really?"

"I'm a witch; or at least, that was what they called me." She must be the other kind of witch, then; not the kind you're familiar with. So she's a mage, at least of a certain discipline, assuming she's telling the truth. "Why; what's it to you, magic girl?" Your eyes go wide as the woman acknowledges you as magical, and she says "Oh, what, you thought I wouldn't notice all that mana coming off of you? What do you care what I am or what I call myself?"

"I care, because I want to know why you set that building on fire. Why did you do it; what were you hoping to gain?"

The woman shrugs her shoulders, saying "It was an accident." That's it? That's the only reason this building is burning now; an accident? "I never meant to set fire to the building and burn up all the little people inside, but I certainly won't complain now that it's happened."

"But there were people in there!" You instantly regret shouting when the pounding in your head only worsens. "You should be more careful."

"So? Why should I care if one or a hundred people die because of something I did?" This woman really isn't human, is she; to think like that? "If the situation were reversed, do you think anyone in that building would have hesitated to set me on fire if they had the chance?" The woman gestures at you with a nod of her head, before asking "What about you? Do you think the fact that you keep those filthy animals safe makes you any different? That it would somehow endear you to them if they found out the truth? Well don't be stupid, because it won't! The instant they learn the truth about what's keeping them safe at night, they'll turn on you. They always do. Give them the chance and they won't hesitate to tear you to shreds and set what remains on fire, because that's what humans do to those who are different from them!"

"You're wrong!" Madoka knows the truth about what you are, and she's done nothing but support you. That alone invalidates what this woman is saying to you. "You're wrong about people; I know you are." You won't give this woman any more information than that, in case she decides to harm Madoka based on what you'd tell her.

"Then you're an even bigger idiot than I thought, if that's what you believe." The woman scowls, before turning her back on you and asking "Is there anything else this idiot wanted to ask me, or may I be on my way now?"

"Just one more question; who are your accomplices, and why did they attack my allies?"

"Allies? Accomplices?" The woman laughs, saying "You really are an idiot, aren't you? I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about." Then, who's attacking your allies right now? Her hand shines a reddish-orange, and you have barely enough time to invoke your Isa rune to raise a wall of ice before a torrent of fire erupts from the woman's hand. When the steam clears and your wall of ice has melted, the woman is nowhere to be seen.

Something inside you says that this is bigger than it seems.

Day 1 Chapter 15
That girl was fast. As Mami fired on her opponent, the other girl ran along the length of the wall, deftly avoiding without a single wasted movement every single shot fired on her. Her movement speed and reaction time were superhuman, and her response to Mami's attack was plain inhuman. The other girl opened fire with a barrage of her own, small projectiles fired in rapid sequence from the tips of her fingers which Mami easily dispatched with another barrage of musket-fire. No; it would be more accurate to say that the projectiles were her fingers, Mami noted. Disturbing, but apparently effective enough.

"Your shot time with those muskets of yours is just as I anticipated," the other girl said, leaping from the building towards Mami, who could only stare as the girl's arm, clothing and all, morphed into a slender blade. "But I happen to know that you're helpless in close-quarters."

Before the other girl could react, yellow ribbons had tied themselves around her blade-arm, impeding her progress. Without missing a beat, the girl's other arm changed into a blade as well, severing the bindings and the ensnared appendage within without so much as slowing down. Instantly, the arm grew back again, and with both arms now shifted to blades, the other girl resumed her advance, and Mami braced herself for impact with ribbons at the ready.

Something slammed hard into the other girl, sending her on a collision course for the building she had just leapt from and kicking up a cloud of dust and debris in the process. "What were you saying about my abilities in close quarters?" Mami asked as she stepped out of the cloud, her arm sheathed in a massive golden gauntlet clenched into a fist. "There's more to me than just musketry, you know."

The other girl charged in a second time, but Mami side-stepped and retaliated. The gauntlet around her arm spun rapidly as it roared to life, and with a cry of "Turbina Dinamo!" its blow kicked up another cloud of dust and debris as Mami struck out with it.

This time, the other girl managed to sidestep Mami's attack, "So your arms are better than I anticipated, but what about your legs?" and brought one of her blade-arms down on Mami's leg; only to be met by a pounding kick from a golden-greaved shin and sent flying once more.

"I guess a blade's not going to cut it anymore," the other girl said as she regained her footing. But her arms didn't return to normal. Instead, they expanded, becoming thick bludgeons to rival Mami's own gauntlets. "Let's give this a try."

Mami and the other girl batted back and forth; when the other girl was close, Mami used her gauntlets to blow her away and create some distance between them. After that, she switched back to her muskets and opened fire until the other girl had closed the gap between them; and the cycle repeated.

With the fighting this close, this was the first time Mami had the chance to get a good look at the other girl; her face was stern and sharp, framed by platinum blonde hair, and dull blue eyes stared back at Mami. The other girl's manner of dress was unusual; a jumpsuit like a paratrooper might wear, but coloured in a faded blue, and decorated with white diamond patterns and cutoff pant-legs that certainly weren't Self-Defense Force standard; and there was something else that Mami noticed about the girl. The ground where she had been standing when her arms changed shape was cratered around the spots where her feet had been, and the same was true for the wall of the nearby building. It too was cratered around the girl's footsteps, as though the material had been stripped from its proper place and absorbed into her body to create additional mass for her attacks.

Mami's blow sent her opponent back once again, and as she once more made her charge forward, Mami asked of her opponent "You're a puella magi aren't you? Even for one of us, you've got an interesting body," before laying down a volley of musket-fire which shredded the other girl. At least, that was how it appeared to Mami, but the illusion was shattered when the other girl reappeared behind her, forcing her to dodge and narrowly avoiding a strike to her head. "So you can make doubles of yourself as well as manipulating your body. What sort of wish did you make to get that kind of power? To change yourself, perhaps? Or to change something you didn't like about your surroundings?"

"And more, but I have no reason to divulge that information to you."

"Understandable, but I thought perhaps that if we could come to some sort of understanding, we might be able to stop fighting and reach a peaceable conclusion."

"My instructions were clear," the other girl said, taking a step forward; then another. "The five of you need to be eliminated; and I've grown tired of playing around with you."

"Really?" A gleam shone in Mami's eyes as she and her opponent squared off, all overtures of peace now removed from the equation entirely. "That's funny, because so have I." An enormous cannon was brought to bear on her foe in no time, and with a cry of "Tiro Finale!" Mami unleashed her final shot upon her foe.

The dust and smoke barely had time to clear when a voice called out to Mami, "Look out!" It was a young girl who Mami must have missed when making her rounds just minutes earlier. That girl's brief warning was all Mami was given as a barrage of concrete fists cascaded towards her position. She dodged, narrowly avoiding the long, striking arms, before retaliating on the unharmed form of her opponent, barely concealed behind an uprooted mound of what had once been a piece of road.

"Akemi-san, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody! Repeat, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody!"

Her response came only moments later, "Tomoe-san, I'm going to send Archer to assist you, so hang tight."

"Understood. I'll hold out the best I can until then."

"You've got allies incoming." Was this girl a psychic? Or did she have more eyes than just the ones in her head? "I need to end this quickly."

Mami's opponent took a single step forward as she spoke the words, "Rendere o Romperlo!"

You see a brilliant blue lighting up the night sky before you see anything else. In the few seconds it takes for you to turn your attention towards Tomoe and her opponent, something has already gone horribly, horribly wrong. You see Tomoe's opponent, a girl - likely a puella magi by the amount of magical energy you can sense within her - standing over her body, as her arm morphs into a bladed edge.

"I'd hate to waste your Soul Gem like this," you hear the other girl say to Tomoe's - Unconscious? Dead? - body. "But keeping you alive's more of a risk than you're worth." You move faster than the other girl, loosing several arrows towards her in rapid succession. Each one soars to their target, but just before they can reach the other girl, they are knocked out of the sky by a volley of arrows coming from the opposite direction. Fortunately, while your attack has failed to reach the other girl, your interruption has stayed her hand, just long enough. You see her crane her head skyward, as if she's looking up at you, before hearing her call out "Usagi, we're leaving! Tell Archer to withdraw and get out of here!"

So they've got an Archer servant of their own, do they? You scan the surrounding buildings, hoping to catch sight of their mystery servant; that's when you spot her. Off in the distance, standing on the roof of a building maybe a kilometer or two away, you see a woman; blonde, wearing green, and holding a bow in her gauntleted hands; and she has cat ears and a fluffy tail, too. That's certainly different. She must have seen you, too; your eyes meet for a split second, but the enemy Archer gives you a wide berth as you hop down from your perch and make to collect Tomoe's body before the other girl can do anything more. She's not attacking you; but why?

To your surprise, the other girl is still standing there when you arrive, though you're unable to make out the civilian Tomoe said she was protecting. "She'll live," the other girl says, looking at you rather than at Tomoe's fallen form. "All I did was fry the connection between her Soul Gem and her body. She'll be back to normal in a couple of hours."

The girl tries to make her escape, but "Hold it. Don't think I'm letting you go anywhere."

"I think you've got more pressing things to concern yourself with," the other girl says. She motions with her head, and that's when you finally catch sight of Tomoe's civilian. "If you don't want her getting in trouble, you'll deal with her before the wrong people realise she's seen something she shouldn't have."

Before you can stop the other girl from retreating, a volley of arrows comes between you and her. So now the enemy Archer intervenes, now that you've ascertained Tomoe's status. A second volley never comes, leaving you, Tomoe's body, and the civilian girl by yourselves.

You're left with plenty of questions, but one stands out more than all the rest. Why does this civilian girl have the same exact face as the girl Tomoe was just fighting?

"Archer, the culprit has retreated. Oriko, Kirika, and Kyouko all report that their opponents are retreating, but I haven't heard from Tomoe-san yet. How are things going on your end?"

"Well, there's been something of an... Incident. You see..."

The link to the musical cue in Mami's fight doesn't quite work properly. For whatever reason, after following the link you need to highlight the URL and re-submit it before it'll play. I have no idea why it does that.

Yep, Niko Kanna. And it seems like her Alchemy has gone through a bit of a training arc. And given Archer's comment of:

Why does this civilian girl have the same exact face as the girl Tomoe was just fighting?
I can only guess that the 'civilian girl' is Kanna Hijiri.

woman; blonde, wearing green, and holding a bow in her gauntleted hands; and she has cat ears and a fluffy tail, too.
Atalanta. Obviously. So; now that combat is done, what do? Obviously, we take Hijiri with us. Coin toss on if she'll be friendly or not, so we should probably wake her up with lots of people around. Aside from that, we should try to juice her of all the info we can, so that we can match up meta-knowledge with in-universe knowledge, giving us a lot more options should she know anything.

Or fill in those of use who lack the meta-knowledge. I'll admit that, now, both sides of the crossover have entered territory I have little to no experience with.

Let's see.

You need to remove everything after the ".ogg" in the link for it to work.

I've not read Kazumi Magica, so I have no idea who any of these people are and what they can possibly want. The civilian girl at least seems friendly, given that she gave us a warning. If she wants to get involved to the extent of saving the life of her sister's (?) opponent, we should let her.

Probably not here though.

Hm. I'm not entirely sure, and I might be biased because I'm running LB3 right now, but pink haired, slender woman who says she's something far more terrible than a servant and a high amount of misanthropy? Is she part - or runner - of NFF?

And yeah, the Archer is Atalante. I'd say let's evacuate the civilian and ask them somewhere less crowded and less likely to be overrun by fire services.

[X] Ask the basics of civilians, and ask details of allies
-[X] (Archer) Bring the girl with you to be questioned by Homura and the others
--[X] Who is she?
--[X] Why does she look identical to the other girl?
--[X] What's going on?
-[X] (Homura) ask your allies about their opponents
--[X] Were they puella magi, servants, mages; what?
--[X] Did any of them give a reason for attacking?
--[X] Describe them and their magics in detail
-[X] (Homura) ask the civilian girl
--[X] Who is she?
--[X] What was she doing there?
--[X] Does she know who attacked you and your allies?
--[X] Is she alright?

PLEASE STOP USING ACRONYMS I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN
Within the context of Fate, the acronym LB always refers to Losbelts, FGO events where FGO's stupidity gets ramped up even further beyond. LB3 would be the 3rd Lostbelt event, which looking at the wiki tells me is the one where Qin Shi Huang turns into Supreme Lifeform Cars and become god-king of earth. I have no idea what an NFF is, though.
