Confringentur 2; a Madoka Magica / Fate/Stay Night sequel

Hmm... Maybe more servants tagging along wouldn't be a bad idea. Why not grab Berserker too?

I assume matters will go south real quick tonight.

If there are servant appearing, bring too many servants revealing how many servant Homura crew have can be dangerous since their enemys will know how many servant to be on the lookout of.

@Jefardi, do you think you could reformat your vote so that everything is under a single plan name? That way it's easier to sort out what's what at a glance.
@PlaguePaladin @Swedish15, do you guys think you could change your vote to either Jefardi's name or to the name of his plan?

I don't really know how to say this, but I - not so much that I can't talk to you guys - but I feel like I don't know what I should be saying. Like it was easier for me to approach someone about something in the previous thread than it is for me now, even though I know, logically, that nothing's changed about the relationship between QM and player between the previous thread and this one. Maybe it's to do with there being less discussion going around than there was during the Wally fight? I don't know. I know Jefardi was the one coming up with most of the plans last time as well, but it felt like there was more player interaction then. Now, it just feels like he's mostly slipped into Enetious's shoes. Maybe it's too early to be feeling concerned about this. Maybe this will change when the stakes are higher and there's actually more that needs to be discussed among players; I don't know. I just needed to get this off my chest.

It probably has something to do with the fact that we're mostly doing social votes right now. I can't speak for everyone but it's far harder to come up with plans / discuss over talking to other characters in my opinion.

Eh, I have to admit, real life is quite stressful right now. And to be fair, we're a small group, so that means we get rapid consensus, we're currently at the low-stakes social game, and our plan makers tend to explain their reasoning - so the source of little discussion is that we're focused, and no one deviates too much from the core think. It's not like we're having fundamental differences about what we should do, after all; not like we're discussing: "Hey, we can save the witch!" vs "Let's burn her."

Additionally, this quest's been running for some time. We're getting efficient ;)

I don't usually think of stuff to input on a good day, and I haven't had a good day for months, so... yeah.

For me, I'm hesitant to post my thoughts most of the time, so I tend to vote and that's it.

So far, the social votes have been great, hence not felt a need to talk about them a lot.

It probably doesn't help that I've been pouncing onto the vote extremely quickly after each chapter. Mostly it's because I'm enjoying the fact it's not... Yknow... Life or death.

I think the player interaction is lower because we are still technically in the prologue and nothing threatening is happening quite yet.

[X] Jefardi

Well, I was never the best one when it comes to discussion, but I didn't felt anything was amiss, but that's probably just me.

@SVS just a question but if the war truly did start should we start asking our servants to begin setting up a base of operations since unlike the last one were we are dealing with just witches this war is different since we will be dealing with actual people that will use tactics and strategies not like witches.

So our identities being reveal is a big threat to our friends since they can be targeted.

Maybe still, I do hope to see that change once the inciting incident is over and we've moved on to the rising action. It would be boring if we once again had one person calling the shots and everyone else rubber-stamping them with little interaction. As much as I'd love to see Enetious return, in spite of the mounting evidence of time that he isn't, I did really enjoy the actual back-and-forth of ideas during the Wally fight.

Except, we (the girls) don't know that. The girls can't see the difference in punctuation to know that this is a "War" that's coming, versus just a "war" which could be a metaphor to represent the conflict between individuals without the servant baggage tagging along. I know I've never kept things very much of a secret, but that's no reason to use metaknowledge to have the girls do things they wouldn't know to do.

Okey so base on the perception of the girls they think this war is just a simple battle not the total war we see in apocrypha.

There isn't any reason for the girls to think this is a Greater Grail War, I'm pretty sure there isn't any reason for anyone to think that considering this is the Stay/Night / Hollow/Ataraxia timeline. The only people who'd even know that could happen are those who are familiar with how the grail functions right?

Well, let's check the who's who. Aside from Illya and the maids, the rest of the Einzberns are dead; Zouken is... Probably still alive, somewhere, but like hell he's talking and like hell any of us actually want to hear him talking; we (the girls) don't know that Darnic is a person who exists; we (the girls) only know that Zelretch is a person who exists, but we've never met or spoken with him; then there's Rin, who probably hasn't ever told us that a two-team Gaill War is possible, if she even knows that it is. That's the short list of everyone who would know that a two-team Grail War is possible, and they either can't, or haven't thought to tell us, that it is. Rider is the only person we know who has experience with one, but I'm entirely confident he has no idea how it's possible, so it's not like he's in a position to tell us to be on the lookout for a team of enemy servants either.

Day 1 Chapter 13
[X] Flameo

"Alright team, look alive. If Caster is right, this is where whatever is coming is going to start." You remember the look in Tomoe-san's eyes as she assigned responsibilities to each member of the team in advance of tonight's mission. "Mikuni-san, Kure-san, your abilities will best suit you for going inside and helping with the evacuation. Akemi-san, Sakura-san, you two are with me. We'll scour the surrounding area and see if we can find the responsible party. If they're magical, as I suspect they are, we'll deal with them appropriately." In your mind, you replay her instructions over and over as you consider her choices for tonight.

Tomoe-san herself if the most well-rounded of the five of you. Her ability to manipulate ribbons gives her some close-quarters fighting ability, but on the whole her abilities are better served when used at range. Thanks to Archer, you've determined that the base toolkit inherent to all puella magi is the same as the three principle fundamentals of magecraft; Projection, Reinforcement, and Alteration. Where Tomoe-san excels in combat is in turning her ribbons into other objects, typically simple firearms like muskets and cannons. She is quite proficient with her muskets, able to create and fire them in so little time that she's able to simulate the rapid-fire of more modern firearms. She isn't limited to just simple firearms, however; she can do all manner of Alteration-work with her ribbons, up to and including creating simple dummies of herself or anyone else which she can then puppet from afar.

Kyouko is your hardest-hitter at close ranges, thanks to her quick reflexes, raw physical strength, and her skill with that long, heavy spear of hers. Supplementing this is her skill in creating chain-link barriers, either to box an enemy in or to keep them out.

If the only thing Oriko had going for her was her precognition, she would still be a valuable ally, but you're in luck; she has far, far more than that. An unusual quirk in the Incubator's system, or perhaps a quirk of her own innate potential, has gifted Oriko with a massive pool of mana, greater than the total available mana of the entire rest of the team combined. This massive pool of mana comes in handy with her ability to manipulate the spherical drones she uses has her weapon, allowing her to call on swarms of hundreds at a time without so much as breaking a sweat.

In contrast to her well-endowed lover, Kirika got the short end of the stick, possessing barely half the mana reserves you, Tomoe-san, or Kyouko possess. Unfortunately, her own abilities don't do much to reduce the mana cost of her fighting abilities. You know from personal experience how costly the manipulation of time can be, and Kirika can do time manipulation better than you ever could. Where you could only stop time or reset time back to the start of a loop, Kirika can either speed herself up, or slow her opponents down. Combined with her own natural acrobatic skill, and she's easily the most mobile of anyone on your team, even if her cost of action is high.

Then, there's you. Once, you could halt the flow of time; now you cannot. Defeating Walpurgisnacht broke the shield which you used to control time, leaving you with just about no magical ability of your own to speak of. Sure, your shield's hyperspace storage still works, but if the stupid thing can't even stay on your arm anymore, it's little better than a bottomless closet to put your things in. Instead, you've taken to relying on the skills that others have taught you. With the Projection magecraft you learned from Archer you create an archery bow, and with the rune of ice - Isa - which you learned from Oriko's servant Lancer you create frozen arrows from the moisture in the air around you. You miss being able to stop time, for sure; it was an ability which gave you the edge in just about any fight where its advantage wasn't negated. But you've learned to make due with the skills you've gained from others.

You aren't the only one to have learned the ancient runes from Lancer. The entire team has benefited from her teachings. Using her ribbons as the medium, Tomoe-san can either use the Wunjo rune to dampen the accumulation of Grief in your Soul Gems or to provide you with additional boosts when in combat, or she can use the Berkano rune to aid in sealing her opponent's magic. Kyouko's command of the Sowilo rune gives her control of fire, giving her an offensive option at range where her spear cannot reach. Oriko can use the Othala rune to string together her drones into a barrier formation whose shape she can change at will, or she can use her immense reserves of mana to provide healing magic through the Uruz rune. Lastly, through the combination of the runes Fehu and Gebo, Kirika has the means of replenishing her small store of mana by stealing it from her opponents with every damaging strike.

With Oriko's barriers and healing ability, and Kirika's speed, the pair are well-suited for getting into and aiding the evacuation of a burning building. Block off the fire to unoccupied areas, provide medical assistance to anyone that needs it, and get them out fast. That leaves you, Tomoe-san, and Kyouko to scour the surrounding grounds for a possible culprit, as well as clues to whatever is coming tonight. "Do you see anything yet?"

Archer is with you tonight acting as overwatch support, while Lancer is patrolling the grounds in spirit form on the chance that something happens. "Nothing yet, I'm afraid," comes Archer's reply. "What about you? You heard anything from the others?"

"Oriko and Kirika are working on evacuating the building, but I haven't gotten an update from them on how many are left to be evacuated. Neither Tomoe-san nor Kyouko have found anything."
You haven't found anything either.

"Well, you might want to hurry it up. Emergency services are on the way, and something tells me it wouldn't be wise for them to find a gang of magical girls at the scene. You never know what the wrong ears might get wind of."

"I was under the impression that Tohsaka-san was on our side."

"She is, but she's just one person. If all the higher-ups in the Association decided to screw this city over, she'd be hard-pressed to go over everyone's heads."

"Then hopefully we can be out of here quick enough that we don't attract the wrong sort of attention."
You pause, catching a glimpse of a person out of the corner of your eye. "I think I see someone. It's a woman; she's just standing there looking suspicious. I'll get back to you."

"Right. Just be careful, and let me know if you need backup."

You move in closer in an attempt to get a better look at the woman. She was standing right out in the open, so how did Archer not see her before you did? Her face - thin, pale, and foreign - is framed by short, chin-length hair of a pale pink, and her lime-coloured eyes burn as she stares at the conflagration with a smile. Her manner of dress is immaculate, form-fitting and black formal-wear hugging a frame as thin as her face. You've never seen this woman before in your life, neither around town nor in any previous loop before this. You can only stare unnoticed for a few moments before the woman turns her head in your direction. Her eyes lock with yours for just a moment, before she turns and makes for the shadows of a nearby alley, wagging a finger wreathed in burning embers as she beckons you to follow her.

"Akemi-san! Kirika and I are under attack! Two enemies, both puella magi! I don't know if Kirika and I can hold them!"

"Hey, Spooky, there was a sniper up on a nearby roof that I'm in the middle'a taking out. Think you can lend a hand my way?"

"Akemi-san, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody! Repeat, I'm under attack with a civilian in protective custody!"

Today's update is a little different. Instead of spending the update on Homura's search, I've instead outlined what each of the girls is capable of, since their abilities have grown a bit beyond their canon parameters and I thought the new information was important to get out of the way before it became important and need-to-know for combat planning. Rounding things out, we do manage to find someone important, and we've got the choice of following them and either fighting or interrogating them, or going to assist our allies.

Alrighty, this is not a drill, time to figure out what the fuck is going on. Pink hair and yellow eyes... Either a meguca, magus or a servant. Foreign means servant or magus. The fact that Archer hasn't reported this woman means either we are in an illusion or in a bounded field.

Regardless, I'd like to have our good friend Rider start to head our way in spirit form as back up regardless of where we commit forces.

General plan is to ask Archer if he has eyes on the woman in front of us and to use our Master vision to see if she has stats, i.e. is a servant.

Secondary is to have Archer back up Mami and have Lancer step in for the two hostile megucas.

Kyouko will get back up in the form of Homura because we are not going to follow a unknown person into the shadowlands... Homura doesn't even have her dueling deck!

Lime, not yellow. I know it doesn't sound too important, but the distinction is important because if you go looking for someone with yellow eyes you're going to wind up even further from the mark.

Do we even know what Homura plays? She strikes me as the type of person who would play the best deck in the format, because the opponent can't play if you've already won; except it's 2012 and Dragon Link doesn't exist yet. ... It's been so long and I've forgotten just about everything there is to forget about 2012 Yugioh; was Dark World a good deck at the time?

Stranger danger!

Alright, So Mami is the one with the 'assumed' civilian right? I say Homura heads her way.

[ ] Send Archer to assist
-[ ] Oriko and Kyouko
-[ ] Kyouko
-[ ] Kyouko

Looks Archer wants to assist Kyouko. Who are we to stop our dad from doing what he wants?

And that leaves Oriko to be helped out by her Servant.

What do you mean 'assumed?' Do we have any reason to doubt that this civvie is anything but a civvie?
Looks Archer wants to assist Kyouko. Who are we to stop our dad from doing what he wants?
This has been corrected. Thank you for pointing this out.
And that leaves Oriko to be helped out by her Servant.
You'd think Lancer would help her master out regardless of what think.
