Everything's a destroyer in this fic mang.

We got the escort aviation destroyer White Plains (DDVE), fleet aviation destroyers Akagi and Kaga (DDV), there's the destroyer leader Tenryuu (DL), and of course, the battledestroyers Kongou sisters, Musashi, Jersey (DDB).

This fic really should have been renamed Destroyer Domination. ;)

Don't forget the Heavy Destroyer San Fransisco, the Not-Treaty-Legal Destroyer Prinz Eugen, Sky Destroyer Akron, Underwater Destroyer Albicore, Grand Leader of All The Destroyers Jane Richardson, the Nuclear Aviation Destroyer Nimitz, Light Helicopter Destroyer Iwo Jima, Superbattledestyoyer Musashi Guided Missile Destroyer Mustin, Fattest Destroyer Naka, and Standard Destroyer Arizona.

Remember children, the world is an aviation destroyer, which rests on a battledestroyer, which rests on four more destroyers.

Taigei is already around, she appeared in the Christmas chapters. Personally, aside from maybe Pittsburgh, I'd like to see Fulton AS-11, partly due to the familial connection, mostly because Archie and Albie can't sneak past her after she babysat nukethieves for forty years.

Well, more of "Let's gut the Home and turn it into a seaplane tender".

And, to be fair, Anderson is a gunsmith, not a naval engineer.

Isn't it something more along the lines of Habakkuk, where if you get a sufficiently large chunk of flatness, you don't really need cats and all the other aircraft carrier bits?

You've got a good point there. I'm just surprised they haven't tried jacketed barrels yet.

Nah, more like an eight hundred foot long sailboat that got fairly well gutted, and then rebuilt with steam engines and a high flight deck, much like Langley. Only with backup 32-lbs cannon in broadside config for handling close things. And a cut-down 16in in the bow. And a few 5 in guns. Maybe some 25mm for point defence.

No, it was a sixteen they cut down once they hauled it off of Amagi. They couldn't get the full thing out while they disabled the turret, but they did manage to get the breech out.

As for jacketed guns, that's building the gun barrel in layers- an A layer for the rifling, a wire-wrap or welded-on layer for the B layer, and a thin exterior to paint as the C-layer. It's how modern big guns are made.

Yeah, the reason she was finished in-story as a battlecruiser is because a loophole in the Washington Naval Treaty made it possible to complete her as a battlecruiser, rather than a carrier, with ten-inch guns.

EDIT: You are correct, the Amagi-class was designed with 41cm rifles. But Amagi in Destroyermen has 10-in rifles.
