Old Iron has a character that's hinted at being Langley, but she's already dead. I could see Langley being summoned as she won't take away the Battleship's crown from them, but summoning any new CVs (heck, even any CVLs) isn't likely to happen.
No, I'm pretty sure it's been outright stated at this point in snippets somewhere that Jane's mom was Langley.

Random thought: What if Pearl attack is Distraction Carniflex, and while all major actors is away, Abyssals launch major offensive in some other location?

It's possible, but the only area that got forces shifted out to assist with Pearl is Japan since CarDiv 1 is being sent to assist. Even there you would have to deal with Mutsu, Nagato, Ari, Pennsy, Yamashiro, and Hiei along with Jun'yo, Ryuujo, and Housho for air cover. That is not an inconsiderable force for defense even if you would like to have Kaga or Akagi for air superiority, the CVLs can probably give you rough parity combined with land based air. Australia is the same as ever with Haruna and Tiger, so no forces are being redeployed from there. Ditto the Med and Atlantic. Bremerton still has Wash available, and San Diego and Panama are covered by Jersey and the rest until they depart for Pearl.

and anything attacking the west coast will run smack dab into an Iowa class battleship looking for a convenient stress relief outlet.

....I've been staying out of any arguments. But that last one (not Spectre, above him) was uncalled for. That wasn't remotely a derail or an argument about things. It was talking about potential things in the plot.

You don't get more on topic than that.

Indeed. It'd be like a fiberglass boat colliding into a solid steel wall at 20 knots. Except the steel wall is also coming towards you at thirty knots and has issues with dealing with her emotions.

The resultant carnage would be as MAGNIFICENT as it would be terrifying to witness if you're a mere mortal... Or a nervous destroyer.

Edit: I'm still hoping that we get a chance to see how Mr.Hunter catches a certain hungry wolf.
I've got a $20 bet that she's gonna give him a flying tackle hug and at least two dozen rapid fire kisses when they meet again.

eh fiberglass stays remarkably intact when hit. A wooden rowboat would fit the imagery better

True... But I'm pretty sure Victory would've popped up to make some kind of witty remark that'd annoy JerJer if I used the wooden rowboat:p

Besides. Jersey' s not in the best of moods right now. Being indirctly the cause of a man-o-war tickling the Black Dragon's tail didnt seem to be a safe position to be in.

My apologies. I saw a wall of text and assumed.

All good. The other thing I thought about pointing out but did not is that the Abyssals do not have anything remotely resembling a unified command structure; witness Abyssal Tosa patiently gathering her forces for KANTAI KESSEN while Abyssmark and Tirpyss stormed Pearl. Either Tosa should be supporting them, or taking advantage of their actions with something more than low-level convoy raiding.

EDIT-This does not count the motivation factor if someone made a stab at Japan, of course. Ari and Pennsy would have their whole day made if an abyssal TF was stupidly suicidal enough to steam into a position where they could engage them. It wouldn't be the same ones as the attackers of Pearl, but both girls have a certain need to blow off steam with some 14"/45 gunnery practice on deserving targets.

I still like the "Christmas Carol" idea of a repentant Pennsy kidnapping him and leaving him on Ashigara's bed in a burlap sack tied with a ribbon and a Valentine's card on it.

Information: YOU HEARD THE MAN
Guys, can you please discuss the merits of Mahanian Naval Doctrine...literally anywhere else.
ARGUE ABOUT NAVAL THEORY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
you heard the man You all heard the OP. Funny enough, we have a History and Military Forum. It needs some love. By all means, go argue Mahan's Theory of Sea Power there, or the design philosophy of trying to build pocket battleships like some navies did. But unless it's directly relevant to the story here, it can leave, or I'll help it leave.

Ashigara: *Looks at the scene like a freshly-bought rack of ribs was dumped in front of her*
Hunter: "MmphMMPHmmmphmmmmppphhh!*

9 months later Ashigara would give birth to a litter of heavy cruiser-pups a DesDiv. Mr. Hunter would spend those nine months recovering from repetitive stress microfractures of the hip area sustained over the course of 3 days and 3 nights.

The Wolf has a mighty hunger to satisfy.

I had a bad thought here, considering the end of war DD's were gunned like light cruisers, is this how we get our hands on the Gearings?
