So let's see, for Murican Battleships we have: Mighty Mo', Washington, Arizona, Lady J, and the Big T (Texas).

For UK, we have Hood (I know she is a Battlecruiser but with her size, armor, and speed she is more like a Fast Battleship), Warspite, Braham, Dreadnought, I am fairly sure I am missing a few others.

For Turkey: We have Sualtan Osman I, Reşadiye, and I am sure there are others but I can't think of them.

For Japan we have: Kongou, Kirishima, Haruna, Hiei, Yamashiro, Nagato, Mutsu, and of course Musashi.

Out of the bunch who is your favorite Battleship, either steel hull or otherwise that you like. My personal favorite is Mighty Mo, mainly because she is Mighty Mo'.

Oi! You forgot Sammy B!

Oi! You forgot Sammy B!

Well, by actual classification. Sammy B is a Destroyer Escort, but by her nickname, yes she is a Battleship. However, Sammy B has no GFCS for her 5-inchers, meaning when she engaged any surface target with her guns, the gun crew had to aim through the Optics. However I think Sammy needs a pet Cat. She did when she was a ship have a Ship's Cat onboard. It was named Little Sammy.

Why not wolves? Literal wolfpack of minisubs, and even Japan used to have them, until they were wiped out.

EDIT: They also, like otters, before extinction, covered most landmasses in the northern hemisphere, in one species or another. Case in point
List of gray wolf populations by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EDIT edit (sue me): I also just remembered. Cats are airships already.

Because the Flower class already has Newfies. Too confusing.

What about the PT Boats? Will they come back as Alaskan Huskys? American Foxhounds? Chesapeake Bay Retrievers? Alaskan Malamute? American Water Spaniel? or American Standard-Type Bulldogs?

I would bet that American PT Boats would comeback as one of those breeds, whereas the British Motor Torpedo Boats (MTBs) will likely come back as Corgis. One thing with all of the Species of Dog that I have selected fro the American PT Boats is that they are all lovable, playful dogs, but they are big dogs. Powerful ones too. The American Standard-Type Bulldog without MSSB can jump in excess of three feet.

The thing with the MTBs and the PTs is that they were pretty much the exact same in appearance. With really only subtle differences visually.

Like I said. Wolves. Used to cover like, the entire northern hemisphere. They don't even have to be too terrifying. They could be super lethal puppies. Just imagine the cuddly death that all the subs would hang out with. Ward wouldn't like them, though. And, it would be funny to watch the Air-cats antagonize them by flying.

Thing is, midget submarines often spend time underwater. Not on top. At least with PT Boats and the like one can argue canines, you really can't with midget submarines. So otters or maybe something like a seal can be argued.

But the various dog breeds that I named are good around people and that is always a must. Newfies are big, but friendly dogs.

Honestly, wolves would more suit the PT boat disposition. PT boat squadrons were the biker gangs of the South Pacific, constantly stealing anything they could from the Army, Marines, or Navy to bolt onto their boats and make them more lethal... and there's at least one documented case where a PT squadron, off Guadalcanal, encountered a US heavy cruiser. And, despite recognizing it as American by silhouette, by recognition lights, by blinker-light signal, and by radio signal, were STILL openly debating whether they should go ahead and attack it "just to be sure".

The late-war American PT boat was, ton for ton, the most heavily armed warship in history, and they were operated by crews of malcontents, over-aggressive types, those sent there on punishment duty (expecting they wouldn't survive--that's how JFK still had a naval career after being caught sleeping with a Soviet spy), and other assorted assholes who, upon encountering ANYone infringing on their turf (i.e., patrol sector), were likely to shoot first and ask questions never, no matter who it was.

So I don't think that a breed of dog that's good with people would necessarily be the best choice for representing a PT boat. (KCQ's corgis work because they're the derpiest dogs representing the derpiest boats, they're as short-legged as the real PT boats were, and because if you've ever met corgis, you know that as sweet as they can be, they can be vicious if you try to, say, take food away from them.)
