As An Eagle Flies (A House Arryn Quest)

Oh Hoster, you just had to be overbearing with your family and thus went against your house words.

Well, his lost provides us a chance for our gain. Let's capitalize on it.

Well let's catch a Blackfish. Besides actually want to be his friend and he helped us escape so that's an opening for talks and a reason to help him.

that is an easy sell if ever i seen one.
sure the politics might not be great.
not sure what hoster thought he was planning but that backfired big time.

[X]Stay with your men: You shall fight to secure the deck, with your men.

There has to be a good bit of land or something Brynden could have in the vale. His brother is an idiot, he's too good to leave for someone else to recruit. If he doesn't want start a family he could start an order of knights seeing as he values companionship so much.

Blackfish can go where he wants. If we can get him in our court, I'd give him free rein. Hell, I'd give reasonable assistance getting him set up in someone else's court or even going abroad.

He is still an idiot, just like Hoster, but we need more heroic idiots.

[X]Try to find the Captain: You want to find Saan and capture him… or kill him, whichever you decide to do first.

Hoster isn't being an idiot. He's being a political realist that is trying his best to get himself onto the pecking order of the Westrosi Alliance groups.

Because he doesn't really have any allies within the other kingdoms.

The Westerlands and the North are allies along with the Lannisters having a future Queen Consort.

The Vale and the Royal family are allies by marriage.

The Yronwoods are friends with the crown, and they are one of the more powerful houses of Dorne and the Baratheon's are blood-related to the Royal family by only one genaration apart.

You have a pretty big alliance there that, if used correctly, can prevent any sort of rebellion that may occur in the future. And that means, Aerys can act with... not impunity, but with a very secure base.

Westeros might actually have peace for a generation... but knowing that luck?

Everyone starts fighting the moment Aegon comes of age and dispose of his father.

He's trying to build his own network of alliances to counter, our network of alliances

Who, I don't anyone called Rhaegar (considering he wasn't even born)
Well, we have a set of Twins from Aerys and Joanna (I haven't named the kids yet so... don't ask for their names.) A boy and a girl.

The boy most likely will be the one whom the others will come to plant the seeds of rebellion into his mind.

Oh my... Is Tywin going to marry a Stark?
He already married one. Rickards great uncles... granddaughter, Brenda Stark, to her father Brandon (Son of Artos Stark) was married to a Karstark, and both had children, unnamed. In OTL, they became members of the Karhold Karstark family after Edwyle's death.

Now, they are still members of the Stark Mainline, because Rodrick has Southern Ambitions.

Now, a child of Brandon, named Brenda, is married to Tywin *fucking* Lannister, cementing an alliance between the North and the West.

What a fucking twist.

He is an idiot... in handling his brother. That is a singularly magnificent blind spot for him and he manages to exacerbate their rift with every damn word. A well brokered marriage would be a great asset but it doesn't matter one iota if you miss out on your marriage and your brother. It may have been an upstream journey trying to get Blackfish to actually tie a knot but there are better ways to try.

At least Brynden is going to be acting as an inter-kingdom tie in whatever court he is going to be operating in. Blood brothers do have SOME weight, he is right there, even if Greyjoy blood would be one hell of a boon.

Heh. If the squids are willing to let one of their own tough-as-nails spearmaidens take a greenlander rock husband they are going to find one somewhere. Though I half expect the woman to personally kick in Brynden's teeth, I wonder who the next best catch would be.

You are correct, but there's always that member of the Tully family that just doesn't know how to handle his family relations... Hoster is, unfortunately, that Tully family member.

Blame his obsessive nature and one track political mind that only sees the Riverland in danger with all those Alliances around him.

Kermit and Elmo where golden. So was Edmyn.

Those were the exceptions rather then the rule if I'm being honest.

Do I need to say anything about Catlyn? Or Edmure? Or Lysa?!
lets not mention the crazy lady, the one who thought kidnapping Tywin fucking Lannister son was a good idea (it seems Edmure was the only one who was smart, Robb didn't tell him the plan so how would he of known)
