A Little Vice (Trans Magical Girl fic)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
C was the semi-relevant male character in the background of the Shining Virtue Angelic Heart fandom, which has consequently made this newest arc the worst possible thing that could happen to a specific type of fan.

Probably, yeah! It honestly probably also caught the C-bashers by surprise, especially because I'm sure in hindsight there were a LOT of things that are now ominous/hint at the truth in Cour 1.

But which obviously the "C Fans" ignored as well because, like. SI.

All of the "SI as Charleton" and "what if Charlie had cool superpowers" fanfics are in ashes and ruins now...

People may be pleased to know there's a Gravity Falls quote for this:

Soos: "I hope all of this aligns exactly with my fan-fiction, Stan. If not, I will be very disappointed."

I assumed it was a red herring to make the audience think Chiro will be the new saint instead of Invidia in disguise
The saints were clearly suspecting Chiro was the fourth saint at last with the poking about powers and Chiro stumbling into emphasing very specifically kindness etc. It's probably just that.

Guess the reason I got to theorising about this story having split from the SVAH show's original canon is because, years back now, shibosho ran a Quest and a reboot where the whole premise was doing exactly that. It was one of the first Quests I read on SV, so it's kinda stuck in my mind

I bet the yuri fans are really conflicted about this arc.

Chiro just sitting there obliviously while Temperance is having to forcibly restrain herself from throttling her and yelling "what are you doing, this is not how you keep a secret identity!"
"You named yourself after your virtue!"
"Your name is Greek for 'bat'!"
"It's Latin!"

Honestly convinced that this is the reason why Avaritia held back for so long this episode, just watching with a bucket of popcorn while the Being Temperance Is Suffering show plays out.

This made me think about who would make this hypothetical show, only to realize that obviously it's ND. Maybe as the very explicitly queer reboot of an 80s show full of subtext...

Here's some of my thoughts on the latest chapter
'I was Invidia, and Invidia could imitate anything she needed from anyone without having to justify herself. Invidia could enjoy going to school while pretending to be a normal girl named Chiroptera because Invidia had copied the best girls and that meant she didn't have anything to be worried about. Even if they did find her, Invidia had no reason to feel awkward about being seen in public in a skirt. She could laugh and gloat and fight and leave everyone worried about why she'd snuck back into the school in the first place. And Chiro, of course, was simply allowed to dress like that whenever she wanted"
This entire section is either evidence of Triple c having multiplicity or how much they hate their old identity both to be honest
"Chiroptera Dunne"
Girl why you calling yourself by your full legal name
"Bats had no business being out during the day in the first place! That was just common sense."
(I am a bat girl as such a must act like a bat)
"eir relationship with him would go as badly as mine had with my father. No, I'd ignore my own panic"
Solution for this for both of you first what you got to do is make a pipe bo-

I think it's less multiplicity and more...different names she uses to represent her different personas, which she uses in different situations. Which is literally what they are!

Invidia, Chiro, C, Charlie, Charleton—these are all names people identify her with, each attached to its own set of assumptions and expectations. She is Invidia when she's a villain—Chiro when she's an ordinary girl—C to her friends—Charlie to people who still see her as a boy—Charleton to authorities. Invidia is a kicked puppy lashing out, Chiro is patient and kind, Charleton is an obedient boy, and so forth.

Everyone's identity is fractured that way, multiple personas for different contexts, each partly molded by the people it's made for and partly molded to match the needs of that unique context. Invidia's mixture of transformations, secret identities, and mundane nicknames just gives those different personas clear names (and often faces).

At least, that's my read. Maybe I'm wrong and Invidia treating her personas as almost separate people is an Envy thing.

I know pipe bombs are cool, but I don't think they're the right tool for the job.

I read this story because it's like heroin: terrifically, horrendously bad for me but so, so good. Can't wait for the next chapter!

You'd likely see at the very least a large chunk of the certain-type-of-C-fans just going full mask off transphobic, to be honest. If the RWBY discourse around Jaune was one thing, the SVAH discourse around Chiro would be the threeway bastard hatechild of that, the Steven Universe discourse, and the Vriskourse.

As I understand it most heroines pre magic girl friends kind of fade into the background as the story progresses, so C remaining in the civilian scenes to make the viewers think He had some sort of plot going on,
as a possible love interest, or as a Tuxedo Mask style magic boy.

So I imagine the yuri fans would hate him as a threat to the various ships. Others would his scenes where a waste as the season progresses without him doing anything.

I want to see the gigantic tumblr post about how Chiro is problematic transgender representation and proof that SVAH dropped the ball after cour 1.

The one written by the cis fan whose SVAH bookmarks on ao3 are exclusively full of M/M fics.

The former group is just blue-screening.
Mostly because they're cis dicks who invested a bit too much in their fantasy of being a magical girl's cool boyfriend, a few because it cracked something.

They got the second wish on the monkey's paw.
"I wish Inessa didn't have this lame dude as a love interest."

Plausible best case scenario, they get into a slapfight with the also cis SVAH fan whose SVAH bookmarks on ao3 are full on C-centric M/F/F/F/F+ harem fics. Worst case scenario, they form a TERF-y united front against the SVAH fans who are willing to see where Chiro goes.

Actual best case scenario, both fans turn out, years down the line, to not be cis, and end up in a relationship with eachother.
