A Little Vice (Trans Magical Girl fic)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Never finished this story. Too nervous. But seeing bits of the final chapter is definitely something.

The bit where Michael goes:

Michael stopped and considered for a moment before speaking. "Perhaps I have been unclear. The talent to use the tree's gifts was always yours and you have always been kind. You see the virtue in others, admire and care for them. And then, again and again, you twist that same insight into a cudgel to hurt yourself. Self-hatred overtook whatever capacity for compassion you might have had, blinding you to anything you saw save in ways that you could use to better flay your soul."

Makes me think of me.

Nods yeah. Seeing the good in me is hard, though I am improving. Thinking back to the start of the story and remembering the feeling that no one was doing a perfect job helping C. Just. Boundaries are complicated and hard to navigate when someone is highly depressed. Avaricia pushed to hard. Inessa could have pushed more. And Temperance was Temperance. It's a mess.

Welp. I was cooking at least one omake, but the file was in my screwed up PC, so guess I'll have to remake it, and remember if I have another
Be careful about tech support and cheap drives, everyone, as I learned

I kind of loved how the end Chiro still has the envy seed and there is still a threat it could someday reactivate in a moment of weakness. It like a injury from self destructive behavior that will effect you for the rest of your life.

I really really liked the ending. This story was lazerfocused on chiro and her acceptance of herself being trans, and when that idea came to a conclusion, so did the story. and there were still a lot of threads left to follow, like the entire broader conflict the magical girls are partaking in, but the story wasn't about that, it was about chiro being trans. but the threads left open also give this idea of the characters' stories not being over, just this one soecifuc story. Transitioning is just one step in chiro's life (albeit a very important one)
