A Hellfish flys again! ( a Simpsons X DVV CK2 Quest)

I've still got a plus 10 in recruiting occult hero just putting that out there . Know we got Lena but probably smart to try to hedge out bets.

Also got like a plus twenty in buying itchy and scratchy if remember right.

Nothing says we can only have one, after all!

Maybe we could send Jasper to do that? Much as I love Statler and Waldorf, I don't imagine they'd actually be useful for all that much at the moment, besides tracking down the Muppets.

I kind of want Jasper to do an intrigue action so that he benefits from Finale's full score. Not to mention putting him on developing traps is a plant action, one of 7 or 8 in that plan. When Botz does her sabotage action next turn she will pick one plant action at random. So a large number of plant actions means it's less likely for her to pick the one that we really don't want her to, that being the flushing of spies.

Also, sending Jasper after the hecklers is a personal action for him, not a national. So there's no reason we couldn't do both if we were so inclined.

Edit: I'm also hoping that next turn we'll be able to unlock the second stewardship slot, which would make it a little easier to do the many things we want to do in that category. So the next turn we should be able to do Itchy+Scratchy

Should we send someone out to contact Herb? Try to bring his company to Springfield? We need more money coming in.

Also family, or something.

EDIT: Family. The boy! We can send Bart to buy Itchy and Scratchy! Then we'll have a pair of super violent hero units we can use for violence! Maybe also to help train the toon troops with the General? I don't know. Just an idea I had all of a sudden.

Wild thought; what if Itchy and Scratchy aren't as violent as their on-screen antics imply? Toons are basically actors after all, there's no guarantee that they're exactly the same as the characters they play. See also Baby Herman from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, who in the cartoons is an adorable widdle baby, and off screen...Is very much not that. Like, at all.

I'm just saying, there's plenty of room for a curveball to be thrown our way in regards to the Toon duo.

Sure, but they know how to do violence. Which is like, half the battle right there. Plus, either way, they'll bring in cash. And possibly some toon connections we could use, so even if they aren't great martial units, they may very well be worthwhile assets.

It takes a Spy (non canon)
It takes a Spy

It was a late evening in the former Burns Manor and as the setting sun shined through the windows Abe was sitting across from his ex-wife Mona with a worried scowl as one of his new household hires Mrs. Beakley set them down two cups of tea, "Thank you dear.." Mona said sending the woman a grateful smile, "I could use something like this to settle the old nerves."

She said taking a sip from her cup giving off a pleased hum at the taste, "Think nothing of it from what I gather you two could use something to help you relax." Mrs. Beakley said with a careless wave of her hand before making her leave as Mona gave a nod before frowning over at Abe with a look of concern, "Judging by the scowl on your face i'm guessing you haven't had any luck with the rat problem at the plant."

Mona stated with a frown as Beakley left them alone with Abe giving off a groan, "I've been looking into it but so far not a hint of who among the workers are one of Burns stooges.."

The old man said with a grumble as Mona frowned before speaking up, "What about the Botzcowski woman Burns mentioned?" Mona asked gesturing to the file on the table she had managed to borrow from the police supposedly the one at the center of the infiltration, "No dice."
Abe replied back with a sigh shaking his head, "I've questioned Flanders and even had him go through pictures of all recent staff hires, and according to him none of them so much as resemble this broad." He said with Mona giving off a low thoughtful hum, "But I know what I heard she's working at the plant as Burns mole Abe." she said to her ex-husband with a stern yet gentle tone, "Well if that's true she must be wearing one heck of a disguise or gotten some work done on the dime of that Artie creep."

Abe said with a grumble, "Point is I don't think rooting her or any of the other spies will so easy Mona.." The man said with a tired sigh as he reached for his own tea hating that they had this knife at their back and he couldn't do gosh darned thing about it, "Don't worry Abe we'll find a way to handle this.."

Mona told him comfortingly and with a determined glint in her eyes neither of them noticing the figure of Mrs. Beakley listening out of sight by the door way with a frown before a look of resolve entered her eyes as she departed the scene after all if there's one thing she learned from her years as a SHUSH agent you needed a spy to catch a spy~

(Later)
"Hmm don't tell my wife but I think the new lunch lady's meatloaf is better than hers." Joked Charlie to Ms. Finch as they took seats in the Power Plants lunchroom, "I know what you mean i'm tempted to ask for the recipe~" Finch joked back as they shared a laugh, "Man now old man Simpson is giving us real food the new boss gets better and better." Lenny said to Carl on their own table all the Power Plant Employee seating and enjoying their lunch as the figure of the new lunch lady stood serving out their meals said Lunch Lady being none other than Mrs. Beakley who decided to give her employer a hand secretly by infiltrating the workforce of the power plant.

With her background it was easy to cook up a suitable resume for Abraham's right hand man Ned Flanders to look through before hiring her while having Webbigail cover for her back at the mansion (Also keeping Webby inside the mansion as a result) but that was the easy part now..

Beakley eyes narrowed as she scanned over the eating and chatting employee now came the trickier part....rooting out the enemy agents...and just the mere thought caused her to smirk, "Ah this certainly brings back memories~" she remarked softly to herself as she scooped up and played a serving of macaroni on a lunch tray

And with this she got to work as over the course of the next few weeks she did what she could to identify the traitors.

integrating herself among the work force

"Ah she's adorable you must be so proud~" Finch said looking at a picture Webby that Mrs. Beakley was showing her, "i'll admit she can be a handful but she's worth it~" Beakley said with a soft loving smile as another employee Mr. Gammael gave a nod, "I couldn't agree more." The man said with his own loving grin, "they can be a hassle but they're always worth it in the end." The man said as Beakley continued the small talk while internally noting down everything she observed about the two

Recovering and going over records

"You know you're a real diddly of dinger go getter.." Ned Flander said with a grateful smile toward the new food staff hire bringing him some cookie (sugar free of course) to snack on, "If I didn't know any diddly better i'd say you were wrangling for a promotion~" Ned joked sharing a laugh with Mrs. Beakley who simply smiled, "Oh I just figured you could use you could use a little pick me to help with your paper work." she said just as Ned gave off a yawn causing her smile to turn to a smirk as the chemical in the cookie did their magic and Ned fell into slumber land allowing her to access all the employee records and references easily

Recon the area

It was late at night at the power plant and a figure covered completely in a black suit sneaked through the grounds of the power plant easily dodging the guards while also internally noting down any weak points in security she could find going over every each of while keeping a close eye on the late night staff still at the plant before spotting something...odd

Until finally capturing a enemy agent

Beakley peaked over a corner watching as a employee she believed was named Bernie along with a red hair man who's name she hadn't gotten were messing around with controls of a station...specifically the station that one Homer Simpson was assigned to, "Hurry it up we don't know how long Bob can keep the rest of security out of the way." Bernie urged his accomplice who gave a annoyed roll of his eyes, "Oh would you relax i'm almost done and according to Burns that moron Homer will be blamed for the biggest disaster to hit the plant in years and when he's dealing with the heat his old coot of a father will be right there with him~

He said giving a laugh that froze as Beakley spoke up and revealed herself, "Is that so..." she said as she started to crack her knuckles while approaching the two figures, "why don't you two tell me more~" Beakley said with a menacing grin under her mask

(Next morning)

Abe and Ned looked floundered and confused at the two man with bruises all over their bodies were on their hands and knee begging to be fired and arrested while promising to tell them everything they know about the other spies in the plant and Burns, 'Just please keep that crazy lady away from us!" Cried out Bernie before breaking down in tears alongside his cohort

We cannot buy the itchy and scratchy show without spending an stewardship action, which either means Gil escapes, or that the plant has less sabotage resistance on the same turn we are going to be sabotaged...
I do intend to get it done at some point (probably turn 5, alongside Once More Into The Breach, assuming nothing goes wrong) but now is absolutely not the time

"Tonight we continue our coverage of last week's story; Collared at Kamp Krusty."

D'oh!

"Kamp Krusty, advertised as a fun, woodland retreat for children aged 8-12, was instead a front for an international bootlegging operation that forced elementary schoolers to work months on end under threat of gunfire, amphibious mutant and most shockingly of all, a stolen shipment of human sized shock collars."

"The shock collar, as many may know, is a controversial device developed by the Zootopian Police Department in response to the increasing threat of feral predator attacks."

"When asked about the recent tragedy, Mayor Dawn Bellwether said the following:

The screen cuts to the inside of a courthouse/meeting hall where dozens of cameramen and reporters hound a small sheep standing on a lectern. The reporters are mostly anthromorphs, with 1 in 7 being human. Everyone but the humans seem to be wearing a red lanyard that reads "press pass". One of the humans is a crying woman wearing garish baby blue who shoves herself in front of a Badger to be the first speaker. Her makeup is so runny it almost looks pre-stained

"Susan Saccharine from the Seattle Spyglass; Mrs Bellwether, why on earth are the shock collars so strong!?! No animal on earth should be shocked that hard, and especially not those poor, poor children!" The female reporter says, barely avoiding crying out as she questions the reporter.

Mayor Bellwether, who was getting ready to answer the badger, stops for a moment to look at the new arrival, before giving the worried reporter a sympathetic frown…

Placate The Press
Result=18+40(Bellwether Diplomacy stat)=58

"I completely agree, Mrs Saccharine: What happened at that camp was a tragedy. Those kids were locked inside of heavily modified collars meant for adult predators. Their Severity and outputs do not accurately reflect of the effects on feral-afflicted individuals-"

While Bellwether is talking, a groundhog near the front gets more and more prominent as larger animals move to give him room. Unlike the other animals his press pass isn't red: it'sgold.

"-who are significantly more resistant than their unaffected peers, let alone humans." Bellwether finishes explaining with a gentle, conciliatory tone as she tries to hide away the frown on her face…but she is unable to.

Before Mrs Saccharine can continue, Bellwether addresses the groundhog.

"You, in the blue vest." Mayor Bellwether calls out, hoping that the reporter Susan doesn't ask another question.

He nervously coughs into his fist

"Jasper P. Woodchuck, from Rabbit Tales news: How effective have shock collars been against feral attacks?" He asks the mayor as he tries his best not to look at Susan Saccharine, who is still sobbing and crying.

Once the question is asked, several people in the crowd start talking, making chatter as the topic grabs their interests, several people present start murmuring about how effective the collars have been and if they have been effective at all…

Bellwether smiles genuinely at hearing the question, and clears her throat, making the crowd go quiet for a moment, before answering:

"I've been told by contacts on the ZPD that collars have reduced the projected harm and loss of life from predator attacks by 81 and 67 percent-" The Mayor starts informing Jasper, pride evident in every word pronounced.

(Bellwether: 58 VS ??? 88=Bellwether Failure!!!)

"But do those projections account for the 643% rise in feral events this year alone?" A cold, determined voice rings out, cutting Bellwether off in a blunt way.

Everyone in the room turns to face a woman standing on two chairs in the back of the crowd. A blonde human woman, yet unlike susan she DOES have a red press pass

"Doris Deer, Weakly World Possum, Mrs Bellwether how do you plan to accommodate carnivores who are prone to seizures and heart attacks; among many other conditions that leaves them vulnerable to electric shock?" She asks in a direct, no nonsense tone, her face seemingly carved out of stone as she keeps a cold gaze directed at the Mayor.

The question leaves many silent, including Bellwether, who's starting to look nervous. After a moment, the sheep recovers and says:

"W-while every collar is calibrated for every individual wearer's species and needs, we can't confirm the safety of nearby citizens without a strong enough...jolt." She answers in a faux confident tone…but can't help but wince at the end when she mentions "jolt".

Doris gasps in horror

"But! Collars are already programed to alert police and paramedics in the event of a predator attack, so help would already be on route; we're working on addressing these issues in future models!!!" The Mayor quickly continues, trying to keep things calm… but seems to fail badly.

Bellwether hides behind the lectern, almost physically shrinking under doris's venomous glare

"And when can we expect those Mrs Bellwether? because the ones we have now are so simple that idiot Black could hack them!"

The Mayor Bellwether isn't able to meet the gaze of the reporter…

"...I cannot answer at this time." The sheep ends up saying, as the crowd begins muttering once more, impacted by what they have just heard.

SUCCESS!

Leviathan Corp and their acquisition of Big Animation has seemed to finally fully paid off. It had been tough work with all the anti-Toon sentiments and just general splitting of resources, but Big Animation has finished their first show in awhile: Kingdom of Lore!

There were only two episodes out so far, but they were decently liked, even ignoring the lowered standards caused by Toons being in such a rough spot apparently.

You flipped through the TV and caught an interview being done by the stars, Tarina and the Bat.

They seemed genuinely grateful for the opportunity that was denied so many of their fellows, though you did get a slight air of nervousness from them. Presumably it was just jitters… at least you hoped so!

Find the Birthday Bandit

CRITICAL FAILURE!!!

Apparently even a big, successful, company like Leviathan Corp couldn't help but seek out That bounty money from Syndrome. Eh, you can't blame them.

However, the mysterious owners of the company decide they still aren't ready to publicly show themselves yet, and outsource the process to a mixture of employees and random people, with the assertion they will get a cut of the money if they successfully bring in the clown.

Unfortunately, it seems they didn't vet things well enough.

An almost as mysterious snack mogul named Dr. Marcus Garvey Carver II, who had very occasionally apparently used Birthday Bandit's services to pettily spread chaos at the birthdays of rivals, apparently still had some of BB's DNA around and decided to lazily try and clone him and then pass him off as the original.

…Why exactly the owner of a snack company has cloning technology is beyond you.

Regardless, something went awry apparently, because he accidentally made 100 Birthday Bandit clones instead of one, all of whom proceeded to escape in the chaos.

So now there's a bunch of Birthday Bandit clones running around on top of his already hidden status, making finding him all the more confusing. These copies are apparently just off enough you can tell they're fakes once you get close enough, but that obviously isn't very helpful for the initial spotting.

Worse for Leviathan Corp, Dr. Carver managed to pivot the blame entirely on them, claiming they gave him the cloning technology. It's a bit of he said, she said, but considering Dr. Carver is some minor snack maker and Leviathan Corp is a huge company that dabbles in a bit of everything, way more people believe him than them.

So in the end no one wins, but Leviathan Corp (and their stock prices) loses the most.

That pharmacist is no less interested in finding the Birthday Bandit than anyone else, really. Though from what you have seen, you get the vibes it's for more altruistic reasons than the others. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Regardless of the reasoning, he assigns that white haired woman who advertised Doof TV to the case. She put feelers out, looking high and low, and gets a few decent leads, but besides grabbing one or two of those copies running around, she ended up empty-handed, to her disappointment.

Doof and the woman took to the news on Doof TV to clear the air.

"Now, I know Mirage has probably scared ya a bit, but I assure you, we're not hunting you to hand you over to Syndrome!" He proclaimed in a clear attempt to make the bandit come to him.

You can tell from the woman's expression this was both an honest assertion AND something she hadn't been informed of, though she's professional enough to not lose her composure.

Third verse, same as the first. Considering Shego was the one who empowered Birthday Bandit enough to get him in this situation in the first place, you felt kinda bad to see her turn on him, though you aren't exactly surprised either. No Honor amongst thieves and all that.

Shego sends Monkey Fist to handle it, who obviously in turn sends his ninja monkeys. They try their best, but the same issues that plague everyone else aren't something they can avoid, and they turn up empty handed.

-Maybe you shouldn't have said anything.

Apparently, Barney Gumble claims to have seen Syndrome himself strolling with purpose through Springfield, alongside two other Syndromes.

Now, the combined facts of Syndrome still being badly injured, that there's only one of him and Barney's known alcohol induced ramblings caused you to write this off.

And then you checked Twitter.

'Heh, I'm a swell guy, so I will still give the money if you beat me to it, but I have found That stupid clown. He better say his prayers.' Was all that Syndrome posted today, which was extra ominous considering how rarely he didn't post as much as possible.

Your blood ran cold. With Barney's warning and this tweet, you could put two and two together…

This can't get worse-

SUCCESS!

-OH COME ON!

If anyone was going to get involved in something that could gain them a billion dollars, the greedy Flintheart Glomgold was going to be one of them. From what you could gather by reading and little anecdotes from Mrs. Beakley and Webby, Glomgold was by no means the worst of the Kings, but he wasn't exactly someone you wanted to get involved with either.

So you weren't exactly happy when you heard a diminutive, red-skinned lass was snooping around Springfield. She was wearing a big hat and a lot of covering, though the red peeked out a bit. You heard from Moe she showed up at his bar claiming she needed a "reward for her victory', tried to pay him with snail shells, and what she said after he threw her out made him immediately report to you.

"INSOLENT WORM! AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF GLOMGOLD INDUSTRIES, YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY! RUE IT! SO SAYS I, KIKIMORA!"

Sweet Lord, so both Syndrome and Glomgold had agents in Springfield trying to track down Birthday Bandit, and with your luck you doubted they were barking up the wrong tree!

Thankfully for you, considering how much trouble you already have between Glomgold, Syndrome and Burns, the Government isn't having luck finding the Birthday Bandit.

Despite their lack of success in finding the Birthday Bandit, you get quite the shock otherwise.

After their humiliating defeat at the hands of the Spuckler Clan last time, that beanpole and his agents decided to be pragmatic and just go all out and hope it would get this over with.

Which, unfortunately, it did. They waited until the hillbillies were drunk off their asses on moonshine and then flew in on helicopters, staying just out of reach until they got word they could leave, which they did quickly as possible.

To be honest, no one is even sure what they took? An inventory check was done and there didn't seem to be any items missing, they didn't even steal any snacks!

Needless to say, you can't help but worry what all this was about…

Even more concerning, though not for you, was the public announcement from the current president of the United States, Arnold Schwarzenegger, with his fancy blue suit and perfectly combed hair, given just a few days ago.

The man stood confidently on the podium as he addressed the dozens of cameras and reporters with an easy smile on his face.

"I know this has been a trying time for all of us, not only has the current famine been a cause of concern, but the wave of super villainy that has descended upon us has made things worse!" He slams his fist on the podium. "Those evil doers believe that because they have the strength and someone mean backing them up they have free reign to do as they wish?"

He makes a fist as he holds it high. "Ridiculous! This may be the land of the free and of opportunity, but we won't let people like them affect the wellbeing of the innocent citizens that just want to live in peace! I won't let them!"

"That's why it's time to take action! If those disguised evildoers want to break the laws, they will receive the appropriate punishment!" He snaps his fingers as a Huge T.V screen is brought to the standby by some aides. They hand the president a small remote and after a brief moment where he can't seem to find the button to turn it on, needing the aide to do it for him, He continues talking.

"I'm proud to announce the grand opening of the one and only…"The Freezer!" He shouts as the T.V shows an image of what seems to be a…a giant rectangular Ice Box?

"So far, no prison has been able to hold any supers they capture for more than a few weeks at most. This changes NOW!!!" He says with fervor as he points to the screen. "This prison has been made with the best equipment and man that patriotism can buy! From now on, any supers that break the law will be sentenced to go here! Rest assured citizens of America, sooner you will be able to sleep in peace knowing any caped person that tries to cause trouble will be dealt with forever!"

"And for you supervillains, if you think a big green lady can bail you out from this icy hell hole… we shall prove you wrong!"

As the news reporters go wild interviewing the president about this new prison, you wonder how they were able to create something like this?

You are extra relieved, if surprised, that David Xanatos also hasn't located the Birthday Bandit. Then again, outside of Glomgold, he's probably the richest of the Kings and has other things to worry about, so you supposed it made sense he had enough pragmatism to not get fully invested into it.

You are somewhat surprised to hear he was doing it himself though, and not hiding that fact. He took a subtle jab at Leviathan Corp by mentioning relying on proxies can just as easily backfire as just doing things yourself, apparently.

Man, talk about getting kicked while you're down. That simple subtle reminder they were the ones making finding the Birthday Bandit even harder immediately got people in an uproar on Twitter, roasting the company anew.

You get the vague feeling Xanatos somehow intended this. That guy scares you…

"Well…I don't think the mansion could fit them all." Webby comments with an unsure tone. Your curiosity is piqued by her response.

"Alright then, I guess I should see what they want." *You say placing the spoon down on the table before getting up and heading to the door*

"Hey you that Abe guy?" *The most stereotypical looking slack jawed hillbilly you ever saw says as he steps in front of the seeming army of yokel's*

"...yes?" You ask with an uncertain tone, no idea why a random group of Hillbillies would just appear at your home.

"Okay good! We got the right house, we would like you to teach us how to fight against der government." The guy says as several of his companions start muttering in agreement.

*....Wait what?* You ask completely surprised by this.

"I'm sorry, what do you want me to teach?" *You say not quite believing you're ears as the yokel keeps speaking.*

"Yer we heard you went and stood up to der government after they dun put a big old dome over yer town trapping everyone inside including cousin Cletus, and then according to little Sally here, yer went and rescued some kids from a gosh darn man in black who was controlling them with some government issued mind control collars!" *The yokel finishes as he pats the head of a little girl with pigtails wearing suspenders as you start to realize they might have the wrong idea…*

"Well actually they were shock collars and his name was-" You start to say before the hillbilly gasp

"Shock collars! Why! I knew the government was rotten but I didn't think it would go that far!"

"See I told yer pa he's a big old hero!" *The little girl says looking up to the man who you guess is her father who keeps patting her head…you feel a odd and…*old* feeling when she calls you a hero strangely enough.*

"That he is, which is why we want you to teach us the Spuckler clan on how to fight the government as well as you do Mr Abe."

"....sure" *Is what you've decided to just get this conversation over with…your soup's getting cold!*

Well first good news. Get screwed Bellweather I guess you didn't expect the news being your enemy.

But man bellwether has a +40 to her diplomacy. We need to build up.

Units sound fascinating and I really look forward to the explanation on how they work. I'm hoping that when you say you'll explain in a later turn you mean the coming turn, because I plan to put them to work!

And for the BB, it's looking like it's coming down to us vs Burns vs Syndrome vs Glomgold for who will catch him. Props to Leviathan Corp, couldn't have done it without you!

Yeesh, I kinda want to get good with the goverment so we can have they patronage to avoid being under a King's thumb.

Now we have the hillibily army that will not be happy with us if we do that.

Like I said we have enough leverage that we can make sure the goverment will not try to screw us over so we definilty should pursue them.

My current problem with this is how out of character it is for abe to suddenly 180 into trusting the government, they did lock us in the dome and nearly destroy springfield, so i dont particularly want to trust them to not screw us over anyways, they did it before knowing the consequences and may try it again!

Also because its the DVVG government, which is an complete mess of conspiracies, underfunding, and incompetence at the best of times

I'm starting to think finding the Birthday Bandit should be a priority. Maybe it can be a father son bonding opportunity with Homer? Maybe bring in Bart too, 3 generations vs 1 Bandit.
While a funny thought, we don't have Homer as a hero unit yet, and even if we did I'd be against sending Bart on that action. Not least because Burns is almost certainly going to be sending Bob after the Bandit and that seems like a recipe for disaster.

Fortunately we've got +25 in omake bonuses to throw on catching the Bandit, and combined with Abe and Willie's martial score that means our roll will have a +76 modifier. Which is pretty great by DVV standards.

Technically Bart has a really high success rate against Sideshow Bob, but I see your point. Also Abe wouldn't want to put his grandson in danger straight after escaping a torture camp. Well, most versions of Abe, it varies episode to episode.

DVV goverment is all sorts of desperation and infighting, sometimes cause by they own decisions.

The Dome came from in part because they were desperare enough in trying to diminish polution cause by the Wasteland. The side story does mention the goverment agents are very much aware that was a rash and ill thought decision and have to put they plans to reclaim the wasteland in the backburn because of it.

The DVV goverment is too busy putting out fires across the country cause by numerous Kings to focus in a single thing.

Springfield if improving the goverment can be used as a base to Reclaim the Wasteland, better than Shelbville, and the Feds will have incentive to make sure we don't fall under a King's thumb.

Also Springfield is part of a minor Masquarade around the Wasteland since we have the means to cause a severe backslah against the goverment if we ever decide to tell about the Dome.

The description to open dialogue with thw goverment mention this, and with the blackmail they will not try to do this again since we have the means to really hurt them.

Yes but again, its very out of character for Abe to 180 on the government, at least for now, we are playing an guy who tried to murder the agent who suggested using springfield to retake said wasteland, its also VERY unlikely we end up under and kings thumb yet, if only because for most of them we are an bad investment, that either leads to border issues (Doof and shego) or giving them new opponents (everyone else)

There is an reason the current plan has us reach out to doof instead of the government (partly since we are basically guaranteed to succeed, party since the government is just not something abe trusts at the moment) and thus went for the other option (it was that or recruiting, which is what i plan to do turn 5)
