...does turning into a bear fix damage to Cattleya's human body?

Still not sure how it works, but apparently the mere act of transformation breaks the human body and then repairs it upon detransforming, so...

That was fucking awesome, even if the overall results leave a fair bit to be desired. If Cattleya survives this, she's definitely getting some engineering lessons from Shen. Must have better mechs.

Not sure whether to hunker down and repair, or just keep running. Maybe we should do both. That said, I'm not sure if the Grimm would just let us peacefully recover like last time, or how well our dome would protect us against that huge Deathstalker if they don't wait.

As for an easy way out, I guess Cynric could just summon her. Feels a bit meta-gamey, though. I guess the justification could be him wanting her back because the airship construction is going too slowly without her. I don't know.

Instead of a sphere, Cattleya should just make a ball of spikes. Maybe next time though. She is running a bit low on mana.

Towards the center of the desert the encounters are only going to get more tough.

We should fight them off and find shelter where we could sleep and restore our Mana.

NO, NO, NO! You don't understand, it's perfect. If Cynric summons her, we can come back to Menagerie, this time with Cynric or Louise or the RWBY gang in tow. We can give Sienna Khan even bigger headaches, and embarass Blackie in front of her mother, her family, her friends, and her country.

You had me at "NO".:V

[X] POV Change: Cynric
-[X] Progress on The Nomad The Worldferry Cynric's Soaring Citidel The Flying Reachman Ship #7 Espinoza's Wild Ride The Sunderer The Name Pending is going too slowly. Summon Cattleya back from wherever she's run off to. Then teach her the greatest lesson you can possibly bequeath to her, one born of your nigh-infinite wisdom: how to leave a goddamn note when she goes out.

[X] Keep sprinting toward the center of the desert and your goal.

If we can outpace these guys we can lose them eventually, or at least put enough distance between us that we can repair in peace.

I just realized that doing this will make the people of Menagerie think she died in the wilderness since she never made it back, only for her to return from the wrong direction entirely.

It'll also give Cattleya a chance to reflect on the difficulty of the challenge in front of her and be better prepared next time.

It does indeed heal her. The transformation to werebear works a lot like a very crude version of healing magic, but it combines her soul with the bear spirit Hircine fused with her. Changing back just doesn't use the bear portion.
Honestly I remember an earlier vote that tried something like this (I think), the pov switch ignoring the second part of the vote (in this case summoning the person in danger) So I don't know if this would work out...

I would say ask PieceThruWar before committing to switching pov.
I didn't veto the vote last time, it just didn't win. It was actually one of the choices I provided and you guys could have summoned her after switching POV and discovering she had wandered off without leaving an explanation.

Not the best thing to put on a Valentine's card.

Cattleya's being too selfish, trying to enslave the faunus and destroy the gods of this realm all on her own. Hasn't their mother, whoops, haven't we taught the sisters how to share?

The Tinman And Oz
"Keep me updated on your investigation, Specialist. Penny will be working to find whatever hole they exploited and plug it, so feel free to contact her if you need any assistance." Ironwood finished, compacting his scroll the moment the call ended.

Winter was one of the best. Her tireless dedication, no nonsense demeanor, finely honed skill, and Semblance combined to make the woman quite formidable at anything she put her mind to. If anyone could find the ones behind the recent theft of the Atlesian knight they'd brought for a public showcase, then it would be her. Meanwhile, he had to deal with a problem he'd been putting off for a while now.

One could only delay a meeting with Ozpin for so long, previous engagements or no.

He still was having trouble wrapping his head around everything those young huntresses in training had revealed. Oh, he knew about the entire reincarnation and magic situation. Ozpin, or Ozma rather, had informed him years ago when he'd taken over for Atlas' previous headmaster. Salem's existence wasn't the issue either, since he was part of Oz's group dedicated to fighting against her. Though he did wonder if there was more to her than his secretive friend let on, he knew better than to try getting Oz to talk about things he didn't want to share.

"What were you thinking, Oz?" James asked, sparing a polite nod toward Glynda and disregarding Branwen's sloven self as he strode into the office.

Raising a brow, the wizard leaned forward with interwoven fingers. "I'm afraid I'll need you to be more specific, as you've said before, I do have a tendency toward doing things others don't agree with. Good to see you too, bye the way."

No, the real concern was the fact that Ozpin had decided in his infinite wisdom that sharing this information with a group of students was a in any way a good idea. Never mind that several of them were apparently aliens, their explanation for their sudden appearance within CCT databases being confirmed by Glynda, but they'd immediately spread the information among their peers.

Saying as much just earned him an exasperated sigh, as if he was the one being needlessly obtuse. "I felt it was necessary. Mr. Tyne was being incredibly obstinate about leaving his apprentice and with the resurrection of Summer-"

"Allegedly" Branwen spat.

"- It is only a matter of time before the enemy learns of him and the people he brought with him."

"That I can understand." Ironwood conceeded, turning on Qrow for his interruption. "I might not have known Summer very well, but having spoken to the... spirit, I'm of the opinion that she at least believes she's who she says she is."

Feet propped up on Ozpin's desk, Branwen shook his flask at James. "Oh, so Jimmy Irondick says she believes? Well, I guess that's that then. I'll just call up Tai and tell him we were being paranoid. After all, it's not like people don't come back from the dead all the time. I mean, nobody would use someone's family against them or anything."

As he spoke, the man's voice grew in volume until he was standing in front of James and almost yelling. Placing a hand on his shoulder, Glynda began, "Qrow, please. If you would just talk to her-"

But the Hunstman, and James used the term loosely, just brushed her off. "I was the one that found her. I was the one who burnt her body because she was too mutilated to bring home. I had to tell my best friend that our teammate, his wife, died on a mission I encouraged her to go on. I had to watch Ruby grow up thinking she could go find her 'missing' mom because I was too weak to tell the truth. I... That thing isn't Summer. It can't be."

"Where are you going?"

"To get a drink."

As the elevator doors closed, Ozpin sighed, "Marvelous. At least he opened up instead of just drowning himself in booze again."

"You mean 'before' drowning himself in booze." Glynda countered, her expression pinched in that way that made most people think she was angry. In truth, James knew it really meant that feeling misplaced sympathy for the drunk.

Oh, he didn't begrudge Branwen for his losses, but it was unbecoming of a Huntsman to live in such a state. They were supposed to be a symbol of hope to the masses. Ambling down the street smelling like a brewery and spouting abuse at everyone instead of controlling his grief when in public threatened to undermine everything they worked toward.

Turning back to the more important matters, James asked, "Did you have to tell a group of children about Salem?"

"They are Huntresses in training, with all that entails. Besides, I thought you wanted more transparency."

"Yes, I've been advocating for Salem's existence to be made public for years now, but this wasn't what I meant." Ironwood exclaimed. "Controlled release of such knowledge could reduce the damage caused by people panicking and they would come out stronger for having a clear and understandable opponent rather than an unending tide of beasts. Randomly telling teenagers that mankind has been under siege by an ageless witch that commands the Grimm was the opposite of controlled! It's a miracle that they've taken it as well as they did and kept it to their small relatively group."

"What would you have had me do, James? On top of Summer's current state, both her and her daughter have Silver Eyes. The threat to them for that alone merits an explanation, especially with what happened to Summer, and any danger will apply to Miss Rose's team. With her sister in trouble, do you think Miss Xiao-Long would stand by and do nothing? Of course not, which means her team would be pulled into the conflict as well."

"Fine, I take it Tyne will be joining this little cabal of ours?"

"I never extended the invitation, believe it or not." Ozpin admitted with a frown.

Of course not, why would he have thought otherwise. Tell numerous secrets that could destabilize society to a relative unknown, but don't bring him into the fold. There's no way that could backfire when the man tried to deal with the threat he'd been presented with. It was this sort of thing that always had him and Oz at odds with each other. At times James could only assume that millennia of living had broken something in Oz, some basic facet of humanity that determined how to respond to dangerous things.

Ironwood rubbed at his forehead, feeling a migraine coming on. "I'm almost afraid to ask why."

Having spent the time since waking up using zombie kwama to continue construction on the ship, you're reaching the point where the propulsion system can start being added. The basic structure is halfway complete, needing only the internals to be installed by Moira and Shen's people, and any enchantments you plan to add will need to wait until the entire structure is complete. With the craft sealed from Transliminal connections of any kind, the best way for you to contribute to the vessel until Shen finishes the elerium drive system might just be to find those things that aren't actually part of the ship itself.

Not having access to Conjuration whilst aboard the ship means that daedra are out of the question and, while possible, undead would be best used to supplement security or do rote tasks. Recruiting for positions aboard the ship is something you can do while having Kiba practice making properly preserved zombies. The first place to hire from would obviously be those already under your employ and their kin, but Louise's group is also in a good position to make recommendations. Security aboard the craft can be a mix of those selected by Espinoza, undead such as Summer, and whatever Raymond cooks up.

A large section just below the rings that will house the propulsion system has already been set aside to house various smaller craft, so somebody will need to acquire those. While Raymond could probably make some and you plan to collect interesting vehicles from other worlds when convenient, Remnant has a selection that you would be remiss in your duties if you didn't at least browse. Besides, you have neither the time or resources to devote to constructing your own vehicles when the ship still isn't done.

Lastly, you should probably make a visit to the Agriculture district to find out how Vale feeds its populace with such a small area devoted toward food production. If you are to use this ship to traverse the waters of Oblivion, there is no reason to rely on locally grown food or rush to produce your own when the ship is large enough to house sections devoted to crops. Having a stock of potions would be easier with a steady supply of ingredients as well. Of course, keeping plants means you will need people to tend to them, as undead tend to create diseases even when regularly cleaned.

On the topic of crops, you haven't seen your own magical soil tiller. Asking around had been fruitless, none of the faunus in your employ had seen Cattleya in days. Just what would posses the young woman to run off on her own? Set on finding out, you return to your room at Kwama Korps and summon her back.

When the flames clear, you see her in a state of general disarray. Her hair is damp and sticking to her face, her clothes are torn in several places, murky liquid dripping off of her as if she just walked out of a lake, her body is covered in bruises, and the only thing covering her chest is her coat due to her shirt being wrapped around what looks like a puncture wound in her thigh.

"Wha- Cynric?!" She asks in surprise, looking around for whatever it was she had been fighting. She is visibly still caught up in the feeling of battle, her mind struggling to catch up with the sudden shift. "I-I... What?

Looking her up and down, you cross your arms and ask, "Would you care to explain where you ran off to?"

"Menagerie?"

You sleep for a week and the girl decides to go to the other side of the planet. Why are you not surprised. Maybe you should check on Louise to see if she's killed Ozpin and declared war on Atlas. "Dare I ask why?"

"I didn't have a choice, Lord Hircine commanded it. Send me back, I still need to find the tower!" The pinkette babbles, her eyes wild.

"Breathe, child! Look at yourself, you are a mess." You tell her harshly, pointing to the growing puddle of what you guess to be bloody water. "Hircine will not care how long you take to complete whatever task he set for you."

"A-are you sure?"

Nodding, you guide her to sit on your bed. You will switch it out with her own later. "Time means nothing to a Daedric Prince."

"Oh..." Is all she says, her eyes drooping shut. She soon falls asleep, worn out from whatever ordeal she had been through.

---------------------------------------

"I said I'm sorry, why do I have to do this?!" Cattleya whines, not stopping the writing you'd been making her do all morning while you worked on budgeting, correspondence with your agents, and other such desk-work.

Looking up from where you'd been using an X-com datapad to decrypt the messages sent to your scroll, you reply, "To give you something to remember the next time you think about running off without telling anyone. What would I tell Louise if you had died out there?"

Satisfied with the shamed silence such simple manipulation created, you return to the scroll, the screen expanded and held on a wire-frame mount on your desk.
Trobror

Damned thing doesn't leave much of a trail, so I hacked into police database and surveillance cameras. People keep going missing lately and VPD has everyone they can get the on streets to reassure civilians. Lots of people, so I'm guessing the lizard's up to something other than eating them. Looks like it's hiding somewhere in the industrial district, maybe the drainage pipes.

Followed BB's directions to WF warehouse. Empty. No Dust. No Lizard. No WF. Days old food waste. Crumpled WF recruitment flyers and propaganda. Discarded crate. Large. Logo indicates Atlas tech.'

Propulsion systems are higher in priority than both crew and food, especially if there is not enough crew to even need that much food.

The bullhead isn't to engineer a propulsion system, Shen already has a plan in place and is working to manufacture the ship's propulsion system. The Bullhead is more for troop/cargo transport between the ship and wherever.

are we going to recall Paty? we did kind of leave her there.

Also, good to be back to our regularly scheduled Tyne.

Cynric Tyne, Grand Sorcerer of the Reach, Unofficial Leader of the Lost (Name Pending), Future Captain of The Name Pending (Name Pending), and Potential Love-child of Mephala and Mehrunes Dagon (I Mean, It's Not Really Proven Yet, But I'd Totally Believe It):"… Who?"

I doubt Cynric is even aware of her existence, to be honest. Also, holy shit he's got a lot of titles (or more specifically, he has a handful of really wordy titles).
