It probably wasn't the best way to respond to the situation, but at least there wasn't any screaming or shooting like when little Louise tried to fix things.

Harsh.

[X] POV Switch: Cynric

While I don't wanna abandon the Atom guys, I am becoming alarmed at how the situation is developing, so I shall vote for the coward's option of focusing on something else and hoping it all works out for the best.

In my defense, that strategy worked out just fine with Louise and Taylor.

[X] POV Switch: Cynric

I don't think becoming a cult figure is the best idea ever, but I don't really know what to do with them either. Would it be possible to teach them how to use magic? I lose track of this quest/multiverses powers and how much they can or can't be used by different groups at time.

It is indeed possible to teach people from Fallout magic, some already have magical talents. Mama Murphy and the prophet lady from 3 are both examples of that.

Teaching them Halkeginian magic is as simple as making wands and giving them about a months worth of basics lessons on the incantations/sensing magic. After that it comes down to elemental specialties, combining elements, and what advanced spells you wish to teach.

Huh, teaching them might not be a terrible idea then. Gaining a fanatically devoted army of magic users could be useful (could be bad too, but that just makes it interesting).

[x] Nope! Escape on the Golem and head for the river.

This bunch is for Cynric to deal with. If he thinks they have potential, he can leverage his mastery of the Glow to take control of the group.

[X] Go along with it. If it comes to combat-
-[X] Ride the golem.
-[X] Try to explain that you have a teacher, and faction they should join (as cannon fodder)

Go out looking for cannon fodder animals, now she can come back with cannon fodder cultists, who Vahlen would be really interested in studying as they are immune to radiation and therefore are saturated in "Magc".

Or

[X] POV Switch: Cynric

Eventually we will get to make more enchantments, like enhanching mana Regen, heck even the robes that you can get in the prologue of skyrim increases magicka regen by 75% and the highest standard enchantment increases it by 150%
Also even if cynric can't benefit from such an enchantment his apprentices can

Has anyone ever told Cynric that radiation can be created artificially and that people will pay to have it removed in many worlds?

Decapodian Noises And Old Men
Cattleya did not like what was rapidly developing around her. Everyone was cheering down below and working themselves into a fervor over Isolde's words. Dozens of filth-ridden, shabbily dressed lunatiques were on the verge of some sort of holy war and seemed to be propping her up as an almost saintly figure, of course she wouldn't be exactly pleased. It was like a twisted parody of her own religious experiences back home.

Seeing no other option that she could stomach, the Cattleya Yvette La Baume Le Blanc de La Fontaine Levitated to the top of her golem, regally commanded her construct to march, and did as any righteous member of the Vallière family would... Well, except for her mother. She held on tight and tried not to get shot once the cultists noticed she was abandoning their cause. Karin would have probably decimated the paienime gathering and strung up the remains as a warning.

Still, it took them a while to grasp what was happening and by that time she had already covered quite a distance with the golem's powerful strides. Hopefully they would stop chasing her when she crossed the river that marked the Northern border of the Glowing Sea.

"So in essence, this Brotherhood's armor is not actually armor?" You quietly ask Raymond while the others go over the details of Espinoza's failed mission.

Apparently three of his team that went to search ArcJet were attacked by Brotherhood soldiers while the rest were inside. By the time Espinoza, Trobror and one other made it back to the surface with the smashed remains of a dozen computers, the half of the team that stayed to guard the entrance had been killed. The Brotherhood troops that they fought used some sort of laser weapons that cut cleanly through most materials with ease and caused flesh to explode.

One suit of power armor was heavily damaged from the enemy focusing primarily on the largest target. Because of this, they failed to pay proper attention to the real threat and Trobror slaughtered them with his scattergun. With three dead, burns of varying degree on the other three, and Trobror missing a large chunk of his abdomen thanks to a last second laser blast carving through his armor with ease, the group was forced to retreat in one of the few automobiles Shen managed to repair.

"Well not exactly, no." Raymond replies while cleaning his glasses. "According to our neighbor, the General, the local powered armor was developed in the opposite direction as our own. It's more as a strength enhancing exoskeleton than a walking tank, meaning their goal was moving heavier weaponry to the front-lines and defensive capabilities were a secondary objective if not tertiary."

You can't help but voice the oddity of the logic behind such a thing. "It must be my inexperience with strictly magic-less combat, but would not good armor and then whatever weaponry can be utilized later be a better strategy?"

"Mmm." The Chief engineer shakes his head slightly and puts his glasses back on. "Perhaps, but only if your goal is to win with minimal casualties against an equal enemy. I can't help but think this alternate America wasn't exactly concerned with their own people's lives. Radioactive soft drinks aren't something a caring government allows. More likely, they wanted as much firepower as possible directed at the enemy for as cheap as possible."

"How durable are these suits?" The man on the other side of the elderly Asian asks, you think his name was something-or-other Carter.

Looking down at his notes, Shen answers, "Between Vahlen's team and the General, we've developed a rough estimate of around two thousand to three thousand joules for the point of failure... So it can withstand most smaller caliber weapons up to, but not including, soviet era seven point six two without noticeable damage. We also noticed silver based ablative coatings to minimize damage from directed energy weapons, but nowhere near enough to help against X-com plasma weaponry. Our Krogan friend's weapon was overkill by an obscene margin."

Other than the information on Brotherhood equipment, the rest of the meeting after Espinoza's report wasn't nearly as important or interesting to you, just an update on various minor projects and what amounted to a shopping list much like the one you sent to Louise. Walking out from the debriefing, you make your way between the tents and makeshift buildings that have been popping up as everyone gets settled in. Once the temporary walls of the buildings get plastered over and proper tile or thatch coverings, the base would almost look like a proper walled village the likes of Shor's Stone or Rorikstead... if a bit more compacted.

Entering the warehouse that was set up at the edge of what would be a small lock system for shipping, you take in the sight of nine bound and gagged Khajiit. Since nobody seemed to be capable of both capturing prisoners and keeping them out of Moira's clutches, who herself seemed incapable of not killing her subjects, you had to take matters into your own hands. Luckily, you already had a plan that required live khajiit, so you just finished two tasks at once. Summoned randomly by a bored lab assistant of Moira's, the feline humanoids were divested of their belongings and kept under careful observation.

Pulling out various poisons and one resist fire potion for each captive, diluted enough to allow the flames to still hurt the same even while the fire damage was reduced, you considered the pleading cat people before you. With the Sigil tower almost finished and needing your attention soon, you would need to either rush the ritual or wait until the barrier was erected.

Huh. I was willing to give BoS a chance to show their intentions for the region, but it seems we have already come to blows.

Well, it's not like I need to teach Cynric how to down airships, he has it on his resume already. It's as simple as casting Invisibility to the point of intangibility, flying all the way up, passing through the hull, and dropping a sufficiently powerful explosive inside. Then casting Recall and detonating it remotely. They won't even have time to evacuate.

Do X-COM have access to mini-nukes?

Mana would be the only limiting factor, but with Recall to minimize travel time and the existence of the Glowing Sea allowing for extremely fast regeneration we can reduce BoS to a shadow of its former self as soon as Cattleya gets back and reports on her findings.

That will still leave some of BoS troops on the ground, but they will be hard-pressed to subjugate the region without support from the base. Most will either come back the way they came, or be absorbed into existing settlements.

Best thing about it, Alteration Invisibility gives us full deniability. They won't even know who or what decimated them. So we could still attempt diplomacy on their remnants.

Kiba isn't critically needed at the moment so he can wait for the less rushed version.

While more diplomacy options sounds nice, most of the time the only useful diplomacy is done with the 'Main' characters anyways. At least HP regen is always dependable in any situation, good or bad.

[X] Social interaction:
-[X] Trobror.
I don't remember much interaction with him, so getting his thoughts on the situation could be interesting. I also wonder how much information his Omnitool has for advanced technology that doesn't rely on Eezo.

1: They are a group of tech hording/anti-experimentation crusaders who saw power armor that exists in no prewar databases and the Mass Effect science of a krogan in full combat armor with kinetic barriers in a place known to have developed high-tech gizmos. Of course they're going to shoot at what could only be an Institute recon team.

2: Huh... I hadn't even thought about you guys doing that.

3: They captured two from the Gunners and have them disassembled for parts to be used in a generator. If you wanted nukes, the Sentinel site that the Children of Atom wanted you to capture is full of Liberty Prime's nuclear footballs. It's also the pyramid building from the earlier vote. Too bad you guys chose not to go there, now there's no real reason X-com would go there unless they've already taken over the area or are investigating enemy movements.

I don't remember much interaction with him, so getting his thoughts on the situation could be interesting. I also wonder how much information his Omnitool has for advanced technology that doesn't rely on Eezo.
The Codex in Mass Effect is actually some sort of website from what I hear, so the omnitool's apps and minifabricator are probably the most unique features. Tech licenses are a pain in that universe, meaning omnitools and fabricators are locked out of using or looking at design specs if you haven't purchased the rights to use them. Trobror is a krogan at the end of his natural lifespan though, so he's bound to know a thing or two if you just ask. He'd be a major asset if he survives long enough for you to get to Mass Effect... as long as you can secure his employment, considering he hasn't really been getting much out of your current relationship.

Did we heal his abdomen? I'd think we would, but Hinata has similarly lost an arm off-screen, and then Cynric never got to restoring the limb despite Cattleya-the-mana-battery being right there.

I am all for handing our pet Krogan a cure for Genophage, and summoning a few others of his kind.

Krogan regeneration can handle a minor inconvenience like a flash boiled colon, he's got a spare anyway. Nah, the real annoyance is the damage done to his armor, aint nobody can help him fix that anytime soon.

I'm sure curing the genophage would earn you some points with every other krogan, but Trobror hates his people.

Geez, Fallout energy weapons are pretty OP, eh?

Wowzers that sounds bad. Which, ya know, I have read the quest and voted a bunch and all, so awful things happening to people that aren't us which were caused by people who are us is pretty much par for the course. But I just read that line and I was just struck by the thought: 'oh, we are evil aren't we'.

I mean yes we are turning a child soldier into a lich so, duh; I'm just sayin'.

Idle thoughts!

It's for a good cause, giving a kid the chance to 'live' a new (un)life and all. Think of the children.
