Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

Fair enough.

[X] Plan Grab Her Mark 3
-[X] Activate Core Purge, make sure that it's targeting Juggernaut Drive's Control Seal instead of her, and keep it active until she's down
-[X] Try to get Juggernaut Drive within Core Purge range, while avoiding that spear. If Sega's in danger though, try to take the hit for her
-[X] Ask Sega how Juggernaut's spell works.
--[X] If Juggernaut throws her spear, avoid intercepting Juggernaut's attacks
--[X] If Juggernaut has to get in close and stab, consider deliberately getting Juggernaut to cast her spell at you so as to bring her in Core Purge range
-[X] Yell to Sega that if she can do it safely, she should grab Juggernaut and hold her still
-[X] If possible, block Juggernaut's attacks with the skills you've learned.

[X] [EXP] Plan Go Fast
-[X] Upgrade Flight to level 28 (780 XP)

Alright, that should help keep Sega safe while making sure we get the information we need. We just need Juggernaut to enter Core Purge's range, and we'll win. The trick is getting her into that range in the first place.

After a bit of thought I'm putting out my own plan.

[X] Plan Tail Gunner
-[X] Shout out that you won't let her kill you or your sister, even if you have to kill her to make her stop.
-[X] Try to keep up with Solid Drive, if Juggernaut Drive gets close cast a very telegraphed Celestial Severance to make her back off (if she flies into it and dies that sucks, but saving Sega is more important right now). Try to circle a bit to avoid getting too far away from Goddess Gold.
--[X] If Juggernaut backs away for long enough active Core Purge targeting Red's seals.
---[X] Cast Starshine into the sky to try and force Juggernaut closer to the ground so you can try to get close enough to hit the seal with Core Purge.
--[X] If Juggernaut stays too close for Core Purge but far enough to dodge your lazy sword plane spells keep flying until Rei looks less busy on the ground, then fly towards the ground in hopes that Gold will chain everyone up and solve the issue.

Lets be the unreasonable little sister in the hopes that it gives Sega more time to talk. This prioritizes staying alive over saving Juggernaut since I'm scared of some of the question marks on JD's sheet.

Yeah just gonna say right now that trying to make Rei's fight solve your problems for you is probably gonna be less than effective.

That's why it's plan B.

Ideally Solid Core gets enough breathing room to Core Purge and she starts trying to corral Juggernaut Drive in her bubble of doom. If Juggernaut Drive stays at just the right distance to interrupt Core Purge while keeping far enough to not get killed by Celestial Severance we curse and stall until the White Soul kerfuffle looks calmer.

Nepgear doesn't seem to have much to talk about right now, so I want to support Sega's attempts to talk Alex down. But I'm also not adverse to doing without Juggernaut Drive if it avoids a game over.

Anyway...so far I'm the only one that has come up with any plans for dealing with Juggernaut Drive. Does anyone else want to give it a try?
There's one idea I had, but its waiting on a "I'll talk with the workshop about it" response from @Crystalwatcher

The crux of my idea is the following:
Remember how in friendly spars we can overkill people by ridiculous amounts of damage without actually killing them (but still causing huge amounts of collateral damage)? Can we do that intentionally in any situation?

This is important, because if Sega casts her buff spell on herself, she can use her normal attack on Juggernaut Drive and win the resulting Intercept conflict.

Sooo... I literally just found this quest tonight. And I'm starting to read through it, but I started with the Useful Notes page on TV Tropes, where something kind of stuck out at me.

A lot of the highest tiers of godly combat seem similar to the end result of Homestuck. At the higher ends of the "you must be this big to participate in a fight" stuff, the tiers were getting into entire universes, and I kind of equated it to the Genesis Frog; which is, when fully grown, literally an entire universe. The Red Miles and Blue Leagues are abilities of the rulers' rings from Skaia, which are able to effect things on that level, destroying a whole universe at a time. A First Guardian is literally omniscient and nearly omnipotent within its designated universe.

Even the Players begin manipulating and mastering their own aspects of reality if they live long enough and do their planet quests. And that's before including the God Tiers, which is an upgrade kind of tangential and additional to their personal levelling path... But until then, they're just squishy humans with interesting powers and tools, slowly becoming less squishy with time and experience. Rather like characters in this quest's world.

So, the question. For an Omake, or even a spinoff story... how might the concepts, events, and setting of Homestuck interact with this quest's setting in a crossover?

I've been thinking. Can Goddess Gold kill White Soul (without getting herself killed)?

We can discount Aura damage. White Soul hits positive Affinities and GGold doesn't have a positive Affinity. On the other hand Rei's damaging aura comes from an Overwhelming Presence effect and White Soul has an OP Ability of her own to negate it. Them glaring at one another isn't going to cause either to fall to ash.

Swinging at White Soul with standard attacks is actually counterproductive. White's skill in handling her clones means that the only hits that connect will be the ones that don't do enough damage to kill so her Walk With Me can effect trigger for some damage. White Soul has the cuisinart effect going for her and can just spam hits until something gets through Power Negation. Trying to melee White Soul looks to be a waste of time unless you're at least as fast as the Saber Sisters, and Goddess Gold doesn't appear to have that talent.

Using a pessimistic interpretation of Chains of the Earth White Soul could just unmake a trapped afterimage and recreate another clone to catch the next chain (or even make a clone outside of the chains once captured, but that actually feels too cheap for me). Goddess Gold is pretty effective with her chains, but White Soul demonstrated the skill to dance through an order of magnitude more projectiles without getting touched (dodging Starshine). Grabbing White Soul is unlikely to happen. Which makes sense, since the last encounter between the two of them ended with White Soul running away instead of being chained up until White's MG form wore off.

Soul Rend is a non-factor for now. Goddess Gold is immune to the status effects that makes it so nasty and White has to keep up her picosecond reflexes by automatically renewing her clone spell.

Which leaves Oblivion Awaits for a finisher. Even a light tap from this spell will kill The Undying if it connects. The connection part is more than a little bit of a problem though. The usage of this spell is marked by restraint, rather than blasting a trench through the ground and shattering continents it 'merely' vaporizes city blocks. If the spell is loosed somewhat it should present a wall of doom to engulf White Soul, that unloosed spell is likely to deal enough damage that the recoil from Walk With Me kills Goddess Gold.

Right now a hit of ~600k would kill Goddess Gold through Echo of Peace and Armor of the King. Assuming that White Soul faces the onrushing wall of doom with all her middle fingers raised and both bodies means that Rei has to keep the killing blow below 300k. Can Goddess Gold keep her blasts at 1% power while trying to widely unleash them? The prior battle that saw GGold driving White Soul off suggests that White could avoid them at that time, but Rei has had significant practice while her opponent has been busy being dead. There's still an annoying large chance that Gold's survival depends on winning the difficulty check to cancel Walk With Me.

You forgot that Red Rose is hanging around their battlefield, too.

While doding Rei's chains and doombeams, White Soul has to constantly worry about a Sudden Death hitting her from the side or Amanda coming to beat her face in. Amanda does not have to care about the damage from Oblivion Awaits because of To Stand Amongst Gods.
Plus, Rei's Power Negation also has a good chance of negating any backlash she could get from Walk With Me.

In other words... while this probably is a stalemate, it is only barely so.

Two things.

First, the tvtropes page is horribly outdated.

Two, nearly everything involving god tiers beyond Planet is just pure worldbuilding fluff that won't actually be plot relevant.

Plus, Rei's Power Negation also has a good chance of negating any backlash she could get from Walk With Me.
True. But that still gives a rather frightening chance of gibs from Rei's big spell.

Hilariously Echo of Peace working on White Soul would actually make things easier, since the backlash damage would be reduced twice.

Sam also has some spells with Disintegrate (Armageddon Pulse/Oblivion Front) and White Soul appears bereft of Resilience... There's actually a few spells Sam has that could be useful (Mega Hack reflecting Soul Rend would be incredibly funny, unlikely to happen with a level 50 spell vs a level 0 effect though). White Soul accepting a shot to spit back damage only to have Legendslayer activate and kill her is ...unlikely but attractive.

Well, a chance is still better than a certainty.

As for Sam, his number of Spells is ridiculous anyway.
However, he could not use any of them due to Scream for Me.
That depends on soft mechanics I think.

Red Rose negates MG abilities used against her, and Goddess Gold negates 75% of anything that non-Divinity MGs use against her.

If they negate AOE stuff with that, does it only grant themselves immunity to the AOE, or does it negate the entire AOE (protecting everyone)?

Actually, I doubt that the grapple would slow them down overly much..
My point was that if, say, Alex is flying at 310mph and Sega is flying at 280mph at a 15˚ degree angle to her, then their relative speed is 82.5mph. So trying to grapple her would be like trying to grab someone through the window of a car speeding on a highway, i.e. more likely to destroy their ribcage and nearly rip your arm off than to end up with you actually holding them. And you'll also note that, with that kind of relative speed, actually managing to hit her is hard—like trying to throw a ball through the window of a car on a freeway, even before you take into account that Sega would have to be in front of her (she can't catch up from behind) and therefore would need to worry about the spear.

And of course it would slow her down significantly, that's how conservation of momentum works. Their new velocity would be the average of their old velocities, weighted by their relative masses. And then that will change as they both try to accelerate, possibly in the same direction, possibly in different directions (of course, if they try to accelerate in opposite directions, they'll be putting about a ton of force on each other (I think—I'm just estimating how much force they'd have to exert to maintain their top speeds against air drag)).

There are still real speed demons (heh) out there. Archangel Gabriel has Level 51 Flight and so is quite literally more than twice as fast as you are.
Also, lots of supersonic aircraft. And missiles, but if we were counting those we'd also have to count bullets and spells.

(clearly we need more clauses!)
Good, I like clauses.

Rei's Overwhelming Presence does 1,000 damage per turn plus an extra 300 damage every turn after the first. So by now it should have hit White Soul
It's negated by White Soul's Overwhelming Presence.

For reference we do in fact already have HSC 4
False. You seem to be quoting Sega or Rev's sheet.

Well, killing Nepgear and having Sega follow her to the safety of Goddess Red's abode would get the Drives (and the little sister Cores) back together.
Unless she completely vaporizes us. Which two million damage plus Apocalypse could do if we were less bullshit (ignoring Core Breach explosion here since Alex has no way to know about it, and our body would survive anyway, though we might not be resurrectable.)

Red Rose negates MG abilities used against her, and Goddess Gold negates 75% of anything that non-Divinity MGs use against her.

If they negate AOE stuff with that, does it only grant themselves immunity to the AOE, or does it negate the entire AOE (protecting everyone)?
Pretty sure it's just them. Don't know if there's WoG specifically addressing this case, but everything that's been said about Ability Negation points that way.

From there, it's a straight line in the dirt that resembles the impact pattern of a meteorite, digging a massive trench into the ground.
Right, I forgot this last time, but that's not what meteorite impacts actually look like. And it shouldn't be what this looks like either. There should be no trench, because we aren't being pushed into the ground except by gravity; instead there should be an uneven (because we'd tumble) line with less loose dirt and a bunch of dust hanging above it and blowing toward us.

a literal tidal wave of white liquid
"Literal" is not an intensifier. (Normally I'm OK with linguistic drift, but we need a word that means literal and "actual" has the wrong connotations.) (This is going as a comment rather than a typo because I acknowledge that the informal use exists, even if I'd rather it didn't.)

Did you know that Halloween originated as a celebration for the dead, as All Hollow's Eve?
Among other things.
"Hurry up then, we're all going to be out in the motor pool when you're done!"
The contrast between the holiday silliness and the reminder that they're in an active military base is kind of weird. Yes, magic and particularly magical girls means somewhat less discipline is to be expected, but it still feels strange.
floating jack-o'-lanterns, fake will-o'-the-wisps
Fun fact, which I just discovered while verified my corrections: jack-o'-lantern originally meant the same thing as will-o'-the-wisp (with essentially the same folkloric etymology); the carved pumpkins/gourds/turnips came later.
Said overpowered Magical Girl
Because we must be reminded of Rei's OPness at every opportunity.
Beside her, Ichi and Ni are setting up a massive selection of pies and treats across the table with a bit of help from Ni's skeletal Spawn, one wearing a large carved pumpkin on its head.
So that's why it had to be non-canon. In addition to the less-than-professional conduct of the soldiers, the fact that there's no time for this with Answerer coming up, and the continuing lack of any indication as to the current season.
James, Sam, and Mike are all dressed like necromorphs from that new space-horror game that never got a sequel thanks to the War.
I would have expected it not to be made at all, thanks to the economic effects of WW3.
Alex and San, the last two
So Ichi and Ni don't have costumes?
Alex is dressed in a cheesy witch costume that makes her seem almost three times 'bigger' than she actually is—which is saying something—
I sincerely hope that's triple the volume; tripling the linear size would be ridiculous even on someone more modestly proportioned.
You give Rei a quick hug as she pulls you over to join the mass of femininity and manliness that is your family and friends.
The Goddesses, of course fall under "family". That's what being a pet means.
There was a lot of screaming, a shout from Sega that sounded something like "Perverts!", and an explosion that ended with almost a dozen unconscious fairy mages.
You did that on purpose, didn't you Sega.
You learn this when Lucky's inarticulate high-pitched scream precedes the sudden formation of a micro-twister that literally blows the roof off the makeshift house, and sends everyone inside sprawling over the motor pool.
Well, at least this time she wasn't helpless. I guess piling on additional trauma being part of Team GEAR helped?
Where you discover that Gaia had somehow managed to join the group and add her own magical touches to the haunted house
Dammit Gaia, let someone else be the GM for once!
"I'm sorry... I ruined it for everyone." You sit, curled up, on a folding chair as Sega tries her best to comfort you.
Nah. So what if you blew up the haunted house? They'll be telling stories about this for years.
the rest of the group was pulled away to help put out the remaining fires from you blowing the haunted house literally sky-high
I'd expect Lucky to be able to do that by herself, really.
Gaia's avatar is rolling across the ground laughing her magical ass off at the results of her 'prank', likely only because no one was seriously hurt by your reflexive doom blast of the fake weeping angel.
This is the correct response. And why the scare quotes around "prank"?
Rei isn't helping much either, having joined the consciousness of the Earth in laughing herself silly.
New plan: we befriend the Dark Lord, then make him laugh himself to death.
The inferno spreads to another tank, lighting off the gas tank—somehow—and causing it to explode as well.
I appreciate the acknowledgement that this really shouldn't be possible.

Magical Girl ERROR/End
So, no defenses except against positively-aligned enemies and near-gods, and her Health is low enough that that barely matters. Her offense is "if it hits, you die" under most circumstances. She needs to be teamed up with people who can protect her from auras, surprise attacks, enemies who out-range her, and numbers.
Attacks Per Turn: N/A
Is that an "unbounded" N/A like Ichi's, or a "doesn't actually attack"?
Affinity: ERROR | End | Story Maker
A bolded Affinity? What does that mean? And why is it only bolded in the Stats tab, but not on her Weapon or Spell?
Reality Crash: (Super Ability) Instantly apply every possible negative status effect to the target. Ignore immunities and resistances, and for status effects that trigger off of damage, use the theoretical maximum damage output in a single attack of the victim to determine effect.
Total Armor Destruction plus Erase. Freeze plus Slow (whenever that gets defined) plus Lame. Irresistible Paralysis and Stun and Blind plus all the DoTs. Slaughter (and Erase) using their maximum damage output—not how much their strongest attack would hit for if they used it against themselves, but their maximum output (how's that work with Scale to Target, by the way?). If this hits you, you're dead, unless you're a very special person.

Alright, here's my last character for a while.
Abilities should be underlined. No further comments.
Anyway...so far I'm the only one that has come up with any plans for dealing with Juggernaut Drive. Does anyone else want to give it a try?
I suggested several strategies, but I wanted feedback before turning them into votes.
Do you see anything wrong with the current tactics and XP plans?
@Naron and @ReaperofInterest have suggested grappling her, but not only is the velocity differential large enough to potentially splatter her (you can't expect an optimal interception, especially since Sega's Flight isn't Boosted) (don't ask me how she survives bouncing off of magical platforms at 300mph), but unless her arms are pinned she can still smack her grappler with her spear, and even if they are pinned we don't know the grapple rules—we've only seen them in action once.
Also Core Purge feels like a bad idea, given how Control Seal plus PFrame has been talked about. And Crys explicitly revealed Drive Ignition on her sheet, which is almost certainly the Drives' half of the equation. There's the argument that it would take out the Seal before she can use it, but I wouldn't count on that.

LostDeviljho said:
Yeah just gonna say right now that trying to make Rei's fight solve your problems for you is probably gonna be less than effective.
That plan looked more like waiting until Rei won, then getting her to solve our problems for us. Which should work, if we can stall that long.

This is the girl that had held the top of the food chain ever since it was defined.

This is the girl that had stood above even those that were seen as gods.

She is angry. Something is driving her to march into the Necropolis regardless of the plan. Some kind of instinct, or piece of information she can't directly recall. Or maybe pride. White Soul is the only foe to ever actually manage to escape her, even if it was nothing more than a lack of information on her own part that lead to her thinking she was immortal.
It sounds better past tense, but it should be present tense.
