Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Imagine someone insides being sucked out of them like warm yogurt through multiple straws. While they are alive. And conscious.
If ever anything deserved to suffer through alpha and omega...

Edit: from the peludas wikipedia article...

  • Searing breath that could wither crops.
  • Firing off its quills like arrows.
  • Invulnerability except for its tail.
  • Creating floods by stepping into rivers.
  • A single strike from its tail was lethal to a full grown man.
  • Breathing out fire as a typical dragon.
  • Spitting out a powerful stream of water or acid.
Keep in mind its probably stronger than this.

Also, flood creation, i can see why their worried. This thing doesn't even really have to rampage to destroy stuff.

This update was soooooo satisfying compared to the previous one.

Once you are done, you fall into a light conversation as Una starts napping on you again. Jeez, why is she so sleepy lately? The conversation eventually gets around to what happened on Monday, and even mentioning it makes Morgan grimace. "Why did it affect you so much? I didn't feel anything at all."

Her grimace deepens as she thinks harder on what happened. "Ugh, it was..." She squeezes her eyes shut before she opens them. "Awful." She sighs. "I can sense magic pretty well at a close range and I'm focused on the natural world right?" You nod. "What I could sense happening inside your barrier was just..." She has a complicated look on her face. "Fuuuuck." She says it as she breaths out heavily. "I'm sorry, I just can't describe it, I don't have the words."

You were, feeling a little bad now, you must have really tripped her up. "Why was it so much worse when I used both my Barrier and my Aura?" She's silent for a long time at that, you see her open and close her mouth several times, aborting sentences before she eventually just shakes her head looking frustrated. You speak up again, before she frustrates herself any more. "No, it's ok, I guess it's just a magic thing right?" She reluctantly nods her head, not looking satisfied with her inability to describe it at all, but you change the subject before she can dwell on it for too long.
Damn. Of course it's a dead end.
Flight
Level 1
-Cerys can fly at walking pace.
Time to powerlift while flying! At the same time, we're going to create a few fireballs and spin them around our head.
"I told you they are hard to kill yeah? Well, they are. We've destroyed them hundreds of times, but they've kept reforming from the one piece of branch we've missed. We have to reduce everything to ash or they will come back." She sits back. "We can't use any big abilities to destroy them, because they are stuck inside a fairly public area, so all we can do is keep them from hurting anyone."
In other words, we're their natural predator.
THEY WILL LEARN TO FEAR THE NAME OF IGNITION KNIGHT!!!

Hmm, you know what we should do, now that we can...

Would seeing examples of what were trying to do help us learn how? I mean... they probably have a Pyromancer on staff. And an arc welder. Also if were testing thermokinesis fidelity I want to take a good look at a combustion engine.

Also try running, jumping, fighting, and DODGE!!!ing just using our thermokinesis to see.

I think we might need to expand on how we decided to hide our magic in the world, to see if we can change how our super move works.

other then that, flight needs an increase to be worth anything and if were working on scamps some more fine control over our fire could help.

They give you a look and go back to what they were doing, before suddenly snapping their head back around to face you, the half made spell in his? hands fizzling out as his mouth drops open. The look on his face is priceless and it draws more giggles out of you, your face stretching painfully into a wide grin. He stops staring stupidly after ten seconds or so and chuckles ruefully at himself, shaking his head as he goes back to whatever spell he was working on.

We might want to be wary of the apparent intoxicating side effects of being able to fly...

at over 12,000 Square miles set on fire.

Hate to nitpick but Forest Fires are usually measured in Hectares...

Other than that, nice to be able to fly, now we just need to work on the fast.

If I could fly, I would fly everywhere.
Screw walking, flying.
Or at least floating.

Urk my heart. Una and Cerys snuggling like that is too cute. Are we sure that Una doesnt have the 'adorable' affinity?

No votes = No chapter
I think you've all become too reliant on Naron...

i would make a plan, except i have no idea on our limits for action numbers, how detailed you want them to be, what constitutes a separate action...

Hm...
And just to see how this plays out, I will not make a vote this time.

However...
Time to powerlift while flying! At the same time, we're going to create a few fireballs and spin them around our head.
Please do not get ahead of yourself. We have other things to do and our multitasking is pretty good already.

Would seeing examples of what were trying to do help us learn how? I mean... they probably have a Pyromancer on staff. And an arc welder. Also if were testing thermokinesis fidelity I want to take a good look at a combustion engine.
I get the feeling that this would not work too well, seeing that magic is defined by its user. Even if there is a pyromancer around, their magic would probably do very little to help us figure out our own.

I think we might need to expand on how we decided to hide our magic in the world, to see if we can change how our super move works.

other then that, flight needs an increase to be worth anything and if were working on scamps some more fine control over our fire could help.
Which super move?

We still can't train our destructive ability today IC, so we might as well train our Flight once more if we're going to train anything at all.

As for that... I actually mentioned it before: we know Cerys can push magic into her sword, maybe even her armour.
From Rukia we learned that she can buff her damage somehow.
I think we should see if that would lead to said buff first.

[X]Training
-[X] Magic training
--[X] Train your magic sense to better be able to track the smallest of shifts in the wild magic of the earth.
-[X] Aura training
--[X] Train your aura, try to increase the highest temperature it can reach.
Um... Sunday will be one vote for the whole day again, so this structure would make Cerys spend it training all day.
Additionally, we have no place to train Ignition Aura today.

-[X] Go out on the town with Morgan again in the evening, get to know her more.
...
You know, I noticed it and I am dense. There is no way it will go past either Una, Cerys or Morgan that this is what people commonly call "a date"
Una: *shipping intensifies*

I like the vote, though... maybe taking a break from magic practice is a good thing to do... but on the other hand, maybe there should be some done. What do you think?

Hey, why did no one think about surprising Una with "Look, I can fly" and see if we can now lift her up properly?

Social is nice and all, but it should be after we aren't a scrub that would be one shotted by any and all mooks in the setting. The grind is boring, yes, but the alternative is dying and our job is to fight magical threats. Social should be a secondary concern until we aren't in risk of dying due to a lack of base stats, usable spells and so on. Now is not the time to play house, this isn't a vacation.

Don't really see the point of the Scamp imitations. As Morgan said, the main problem with them seems to be disposing of the remains and that can be taken care of by either Ignition Aura or Alpha-Omega. This is 2000, VR training doesn't exist unless this AU is wildly different and I rather doubt that Karen has on call an illusionist strong enough to simulate any and all parts of a magic monster (health, attacks, resistance, tactics et al), not to mention in order to simulate what seems to be the equivalent of vermin in the magical world. So the imitations also will not hit back, not move or anything, it's basically hitting a tree with our magic. Trying to burn a big tree until nothing remains is already something we have experimented with and that we have done. I'd rather work on something that could be more useful if we are called in to deal with a bigger threat like the big wither breathing bullet we just dodged.

Edit: forgot about the training space. Switching Plasma Sphere to Flight.
Edit2: and changed again. also added thermal sense. Since we basically used it all the time during our forest adventures, it shouldn't be too taxing to do it on the side.
